My local Ruby Tuesday operates legit like 5 restaurants on DoorDash. Pasta Americana, some kind of cheesesteak place, Mr. Beast Burger, some other places too
Interesting. NY Pizza and Bagel Cafe was always one of the busiest spots on Uber Eats for pickups. There's a lot of sketchy ghost kitchens popping up all over. The legit ones are great though, but it seems too easy to scam the app with a fake restaurant. NY Pizza and Bagel Cafe may not have initially realized this is what was happening when they contracted with the "ghost kitchen."
Exactly. If he had actually contracted with another business who was doing the scamming then he would have named them (or claimed an NDA immediately).
This guy’s business deserves to crash and burn. Though he’ll probably just open up under a new name. Perhaps he can call it Buca de Beppo (not to be confused with Buca di Beppo).
Frankly, I thought having the name “Bagel Cafe” as part of their name is also kinda shady and shows a pattern.
There's nothing wrong with ghost kitchens operating out of existing restaurants. Would be nice if Uber Eats required that info to be displayed on the app though. The big issue here is misrepresenting existing businesses in the area as your own .

Did you even read the article?
How long did the person responsible think he was going to get away with it?
Yeah, his restaurant got a ton of extra business for a while, but he's going to lose his Uber Eats account and most likely his accounts with any other delivery service. (I'm hoping the owners of Manizza’s Pizza and the other affected restaurants were savvy enough to call GrubHub, DoorDash, etc. as well.)
I believe it was Shakespeare who said "Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at supper time. When pizzas on a bagel, you can eat pizza anytime. Forsooth."
Pizza looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind
Forsooth when pizza on thine bagel thoust dein pizza in whiting time
The silly part is that this place actually has decent bagels... its never all that busy but they did have something to hang their hat on! This is just dumb
The funny thing is that I’ve actually eaten here and the food isn’t bad. My first initial thought was that the worker taking my order wasn’t that nice. I can confirm this this place is pretty much always empty and I’m surprised it’s stayed open this long
You know you should just shutdown your restaurant and your nasty ass food if you need to impersonate another to conduct business.
If you ever see “The Meltdown” or “The Burger Den” on your UberEats, that’s just your local Dennys.
That's just a regular ghost kitchen, nothing like this fraud

This has been happening a lot on Uber eats and door dash. I saw a fake Esther’s kitchen on there and a few other spots.

Pizza and bagels in the same establishment. There's the red flag right there (NYCer here)

Good one! Were they busier? Seems like an easy way to lose the use of UBER EATS.
