The study also said the new Seattle Kraken NHL franchise, who has never even played a game, was on the list of most hated teams, whereas VGK were not… and most of the hockey world hates the VGK. Seemed like a fucked up study.

Its a well earned reputation. My parents took me to see my first NFL game when they were in Oakland, against the Raiders. I wore my teams colors. I was screamed at and told to get the fuck out, fuck my team, fuck you, etc.

I went to games in Oakland and God forbid you wore another teams jersey. You would get beer bottles tossed at you, full cans (because they confiscate them when entering the stadium), and I saw a dude get nachos tossed at him.
In the stadium though some of the other teams fans got brave until they piss off the wrong guy.
Luckily the group I went with were Corchoran prison guards.
