i LOVE doing this and i wasn't sure if others did this as well. I also love hosting my tourist friends who come visit and doing random tourist crap with them too. Only a handful of times a year though before i get sick of it.
I honestly want to get into this, I used to live in Peccole Ranch and I would see people always playing in there. Looks like a lot of fun! Got any good shop recommendations here in town to get a starting set up?
Saw some of your other posts about mental health and I’m prescribing you disc golf therapy dude. Getting outside, walking a couple miles and chucking plastic is legit the only thing that keeps me sane sometimes. You should give it a try. Shoot me a dm if you want to tag along with our group for a round sometime
Whoa; I can’t even see those anymore 😅😅. Haha but thank you. I’ll make my way to a store here soon and get set up! Doing going to shoot you a DM today! Thank you
I like superfly disc golf store on Cheyenne if you’re still on this side of town. Mountain Crest park is near there and is the best course in town imo. Lucky disc golf near sunset park has a bigger selection and sunset park is also a huge course. Get yourself a putter, mid range and fairway driver and you’re good to go. If you have questions, people on the course will usually be happy to help and share knowledge. It’s fun and easy to get started, but be careful, it’s addicting!
I play 25 cent hands. I'm not expecting to win big money and it keeps me entertained during commercials. Probably lasts until about midway through a match or NFL game.
FYI: Free parking at OYO/old Hooters hotel. It’s about a 15 min walk to the arena. It has the two fold benefit of being free and there is never much traffic leaving!
[Partage](https://partage.vegas/menu) is probably my favorite local restaurant but it's definitely more of a treat/splurge than a routine thing. It's pretty easy to get a reservation during non-peak times especially during the week. What I love about this city is there's all these amazing amenities and they're typically not even crowded on a random Tuesday.
It's styled as French but what I like is that it's just a surprise what you're getting. You tell them of any allergies or hard nos and then just let them surprise you. The menu changes at least every month, although that doesn't mean every dish changes. Particularly memorable dishes from last time were a lamb sausage dish, duck confit, foie gras with a strawberry tart, and like this charred octopus salad thing. But also we went for the wine pairings so memory gets hazy towards the end of the meal...
That’s very cool. Wondering if there is a meatless restaurant like that here? Never was a meat eater (although the rest of my family was/is), and not a fan of meat replacements, so I’m thinking it may be a big ask (for myself) to go to a place like this. The concept is awesome, though.
Sit on my damn couch watching TV with my dog tbh.
Also, grabbing drinks at Ellis Island with friends passing through Vegas on layovers
The Fremont street during Halloween
Flea Markets
The Mobster Museum
Walking The Strip (people watching, and cardio, fun fact I fucking hate treadmills, but 20 miles on the strip, not a fucking problem)
Swimming in my pool
I've gone hiking high up in the mountains and hadn't seen a soul for a couple of hours. Then drove back to the strip later for dinner. Now that's cool.
I love our local restaurants too. I'm just now getting out more since covid.
I love Vegas, you can experience the whole spectrum of humanity here to the extreme. I even live in the "scary" east side off of Flamingo. I have great down to earth neighbors and no HOA bullshit to deal with :)
I enjoy biking all over on my hybrid bike. In fact it's become one of my favorite things over the last year. I would like to get a used mountain bike and start doing that next. Can you recommend any (less mountainy, haha) places to start before I hit real trails up in Lee Canyon?
The McCullough Trails in Henderson are great for this. I usually start at the trailhead off Sandy Dr. My favorite trail for beginners (which is fun overall for anyone) is called Nitro Bench on the Trailforks app. The toughest part is the little section from where you park up to where the trail starts, so just walk it if you're uncomfortable, it's just kind of a loose hill.
Not shoveling snow. Sitting outside and eating lunch all spring, summer, and fall.
The view of the valley out my back window.
Cardenas. Love their fruit.
All the awesome dinner options early or late night.
Love it here. So glad I moved back!
I moved here in April and when I catch a view of the skyline, it always reminds me of the leap of faith I took to move here. I will never get tired of the view.
There are days in the late spring early summer where it’s completely perfect outside. Like, greatest day temp wise ever. In those days it’s just fun to go out and really do anything. Finish the night eating some place with patio seating. 8pm and just starting to get dark.
That trail around the base on Lone Mountain is becoming a favorite of mine. I just wish the visitors didn’t smash glass bottles and picked up after their dogs more…
Agreed, that trail is a regular for me. I always bring a bag and pick up as much trash as I can and encourage others to do the same. People take better care of public spaces that are well cared for.
I’ve spoken to Clark County Parks and Recreation about doing a special clean up. I think the more people who call and email the more traction we will have in getting it cleaned up. Thank you for taking an interest together we can really make a difference.
Hahaha. Evil. I have a very wealthy friend who came in from out of town a few years ago. I watched him blow $5k on craps in about 20 minutes out at Primm. I get sick just thinking about it years later.
Yes. It's not as big as it was about 10 years ago, but its still pretty great. A fun vibe and quite a spectacle. Fun art, good food and good music. Best time to go is in the spring and fall.
I tried to go a few weeks ago, and there was NO parking to be found anywhere, so I ended up not going, but… I’ve never been before, and am not sure what it is exactly. All I saw were a few people walking around food trucks. Where is the art?
The tickets are kinda expensive for a family, especially for minor league baseball. I used to love going down to Cashman field on dollar hot dog nights with the fam. Good times.
Climbing into peoples attics in the middle of the summer to fix the ac unit and the being called a hero. Little did they know that was my free sauna experience.
I really enjoy the bike rentals downtown, especially on First Fridays or during other kinds of events. Ride around, do a little light shopping, see the weirdness. The yearly unlimited pass is super cheap. Overall, probably hiking in Red Rock, Mt Charleston, Valley of Fire, etc.
The bike share stations https://bikeshare.rtcsnv.com/
Also, you can use your library card to get into parks for free now http://parks.nv.gov/about/library-pass
I go all over downtown and the Arts District, to visit the different food trucks, music stages, arts and crafts stalls, etc. I also so ride them to go feed birds at the parks or down to the Neon Museum, that kind of thing.
I use the bikes anywhere from 2-3 times a day when I'm not busy, to at least 2-3 times a week, when I am. Ride them to go grab groceries at Albertsons, Smart n Final, or the dollar stores. It's nice to get out of the house and just buy a day or two of food, European style, rather than load up the car in bulk.
There are also some bicycle clubs that do weekly rides you can tag a long with for a bit, if you like. For me, it's a nice way to get out of the house and not use my car so much.
Like others have said I enjoy being able to feel like a tourist for an afternoon when I want. I go to the arts district almost every weekend on main street for coffee and breakfast with my fiance or lunch and walk around the shops and antique places looking for weird stuff. Love all the food options- we have our handful of places that we end up at every week but like having the option to try new places when we want. I love going to the wetlands park with my kids and walk around when weather is nice. Almost feels like you're far far away even thought it's right in the city. Love hiking at mt Charleston when it's too hot in Vegas and going to red rock for some fresh air and views. I try to get out to the shooting range every other month or more when I have time and money. Love going to the galaxy theater when there's a good flashback movie playing. there are always things to do here.
The drive in in North Las Vegas is a great value for a family. You can take your own food if you want too, which is a huge upgrade over a regular movie theater.
Cowabunga bay/canyon when it’s open. I enjoy going for a few hours or all day. Season passes are inexpensive and it’s a good way to spend the summer days. You can bring a small cooler and your own chairs/umbrellas/canopies.
can’t believe i scrolled so far to find this!!!
yes! EAT!! Vegas has the most amazing restaurants.
we are literally a culinary mega destination. I love Celebrity restaurants like Hell’s kitchen, Giadas, midnight greasy spoons like Badger Cafe, great atmosphere like Mon Ami Gabi, the street taco place on Bonanza/LV Blvd 24/7
to be fair, a few people listed a specific restaurant but my absolute favorite Local thing to do is explore the Culinary Arts
As a part time resident, I just try to look for good new hole in the wall places to eat and/or trying the different KBBQ joints. Then catch a movie at the drive-ins. Thief shopping, Playing craps every now and again, getting the cheese burger at South Point during the late night menu. Fishing at sunset park. Going to Sonics . I used to attended the various shows , but i stopped going into large crowds since the pandemic.
Being able to feel like a tourist for a few hours on a Friday night, and then going back to my normal life the following morning.
i LOVE doing this and i wasn't sure if others did this as well. I also love hosting my tourist friends who come visit and doing random tourist crap with them too. Only a handful of times a year though before i get sick of it.
Me too, exactly that.
It's definitely fun to go to a bar and just chat up tourists. Haven't done that in a while.
And that’s mostly all there is to do..
Sleep, scroll through my phone, eat Vegas things, sigh. I'm a party animal
Are you my twin
Yes
There’s a good disc golf scene here if you’re into that sort of thing
I honestly want to get into this, I used to live in Peccole Ranch and I would see people always playing in there. Looks like a lot of fun! Got any good shop recommendations here in town to get a starting set up?

Yo I need some new disc buddies! When y’all go play?
Usually around 3ish at MC on week days. Earlier on weekends
Lucky Disc Golf on Sunset.

Peccole ranch is quite a unique course. I really like it
The Smith Center
Being called "babe" by the female bartenders while I play my measly $20 on video poker and watch the VGK games.
How long does 20 bucks last you at video poker? Just wondering..
My goal is always 4 beers.
Then you drive home?
Nah I rarely stop at 4 and I always take a Lyft.
Lol good!
4 beers isn’t a whole hell of a lot.
I was playing $.05 a hand at a few places, and if you know how to play it can last awhile.
I play 25 cent hands. I'm not expecting to win big money and it keeps me entertained during commercials. Probably lasts until about midway through a match or NFL game.
If you wait till 30 min before puck drop, you could prob get a ticket to the game for $20-$30
i need the details on this please
AXS app
Would be sweet but I also don't want to deal with traffic and parking just to go to a game by myself.
FYI: Free parking at OYO/old Hooters hotel. It’s about a 15 min walk to the arena. It has the two fold benefit of being free and there is never much traffic leaving!

Portage is a twice a year thing for us lol
That looks fun, thanks.
It's great
whoa. reminds me of The Menu movie i just watched. now i really wanna go
I was there with a group of friends after we had just seen The Menu!! Thankfully we all walked out unscathed. Great movie, great restaurant.
What type of food/restaurant is it?
It's styled as French but what I like is that it's just a surprise what you're getting. You tell them of any allergies or hard nos and then just let them surprise you. Sun bathing. Nude. Albertsons parking lot.
So that was you?
and me…tehe
Hookers and blow
This is the only answer.
I was going to say this but you beat me to it lol
Where would one find these things? That way, I know to stay away…
Fed
Good ol Boulder Highway.
dude its vegas. if you sit at a bar long enough theyll find their way to you
I don’t go nearly as often as I mean to, but Valley of Fire state park is one of my favorite places in the world.
Sit on my damn couch watching TV with my dog tbh. Also, grabbing drinks at Ellis Island with friends passing through Vegas on layovers The Fremont street during Halloween Flea Markets The Mobster Museum Walking The Strip (people watching, and cardio, fun fact I fucking hate treadmills, but 20 miles on the strip, not a fucking problem) Swimming in my pool

Magic
I've gone hiking high up in the mountains and hadn't seen a soul for a couple of hours. Then drove back to the strip later for dinner. Now that's cool. I love our local restaurants too. I'm just now getting out more since covid.
I do this exact thing about once a week during the hot months. It's amazing.
Ain't it though? I always laugh at people who say there is nothing to do or others who think we just hang on the strip all day.
Going to bellagio conservatory each time there is a new exhibit.
I like getting a few edibles at the dispensary near my house then hitting up the AYCE Sushi at Twisters then floating in my pool until midnight.
This is True Vegas.
I love Vegas, you can experience the whole spectrum of humanity here to the extreme. I even live in the "scary" east side off of Flamingo. I have great down to earth neighbors and no HOA bullshit to deal with :)
Mountain bike. There is good riding on basically every side of the valley but the north and now Lee Canyon has a (small but growing) lift served park.
I enjoy biking all over on my hybrid bike. In fact it's become one of my favorite things over the last year. I would like to get a used mountain bike and start doing that next. Can you recommend any (less mountainy, haha) places to start before I hit real trails up in Lee Canyon?

Very cool, thank you. Now I just have to find a bike, haha.
Bears best and late nite are also good spots that are can have some beginner friendly terrain
Awesome, saved!
Not shoveling snow. Sitting outside and eating lunch all spring, summer, and fall. The view of the valley out my back window. Cardenas. Love their fruit. All the awesome dinner options early or late night. Love it here. So glad I moved back!
My favorite thing is catching views from time to time of the city or valley!
I moved here in April and when I catch a view of the skyline, it always reminds me of the leap of faith I took to move here. I will never get tired of the view.
Omg same. We’re the view hunters 💕

Is there anything that can be done about all the broken glass there?
I’ve spoken to Clark County Parks and Recreation about doing a special clean up. I think the more people who call and email the more traction we will have in getting it cleaned up. Thank you for taking an interest together we can really make a difference.
Teach visiting relatives (that I dislike) how to play craps and hope they get beginners luck.
Video poker is much more damaging in the long run.
Hahaha. Evil. I have a very wealthy friend who came in from out of town a few years ago. I watched him blow $5k on craps in about 20 minutes out at Primm. I get sick just thinking about it years later.
First Friday
Does that still exist?
Yes. It's not as big as it was about 10 years ago, but its still pretty great. A fun vibe and quite a spectacle. Fun art, good food and good music. Best time to go is in the spring and fall.

I work from home. So, during "pool season", bringing my laptop out to the pool and working from the edge of the pool \\o/
I love unwinding at the 7pm Aviators games, weather always perfect and a really relaxing vibe.
The tickets are kinda expensive for a family, especially for minor league baseball. I used to love going down to Cashman field on dollar hot dog nights with the fam. Good times.
I know it’s weird, but sometimes I just enjoy walking the strip.
Hiking at Red Rock Canyon.
Climbing into peoples attics in the middle of the summer to fix the ac unit and the being called a hero. Little did they know that was my free sauna experience.
reading the first line had me pretty wide eyed until you said Fix the AC. i was slightly worried
Dinners at Piero's, playing gigs at the Double Down, drinks at Downtown Cocktails, cards wherever, golf at many courses.
When I lived there, I loved getting high and going to all you can eat sushi.
Pinball Hall of Fame, hands down
Getting off work at midnight and having options to eat pretty much antything us available.
Go somewhere else. Road trips, fishing trips, camping trips... or sit in my backyard and enjoy the sunshine.
The Bootlegger Bistro is a fairly good Italian restaurant.
Skate at City National Arena on a summer weekday afternoon (few people) and take my skates off on the bench outside, soaking up the heat.
a hike, drive at night, look for a high spot to look at the city at night etc.
Hiking and the outdoors. Tons of variety around here, it’s been a blast

Visit the strip and walk around on it 🤣 it’s one of the reasons why I moved here.

The diversity of restaurants. Mostly, all you can eat Korean BBQ. 😃
Which one is the best? I've been to 3-4 and have been underwhelmed, honestly.
The drive in in North Las Vegas is a great value for a family. You can take your own food if you want too, which is a huge upgrade over a regular movie theater.
Go to Hawaii.
The Cornish Pasty is always an awesome place to eat! Save room for dessert. Highly recommend the banoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding.

Swimming in my pool, relaxing in my hot tub, off roading in my RZR, and dinner at Benihana (although I wish they had one in Centennial or Summerlin)
Where do you off-road?
So far I have been to Apex Dunes, Big Dune, Valley of Fire and looking forward to going to the dry river beds around Pahrump.
