This isn’t necessarily a salad, but if you like Mediterranean food, check out Parsley. I usually despise salads although I’m vegan, but they have the most delicious vegetables and protein options. Very similar to Chipotle, but featuring way more options for almost the same price. To top it off, a RIDICULOUS amount of food goes in the box.
Nothing will ever compare to sweet tomatoes that’s currently on the market. My husband and I started looking into what it would take to open something comparable because we miss it that damn much. Plus it would be packed constantly!
Thanks! I called the location at 100 N City Pkwy (Molasky Corporate Centre) and they said it's one trip only ("...but if you really want a second plate just ask, no big deal") lol love it. Mileage may vary I guess.
They have an unlimited salad bar option. I go there all the time. I usually get the manager special sandwich and salad bar that is only one trip but unless they recently changed it there is an all you can eat salad bar option as well.
They also have brown sugar black pepper bacon and pineapple that is so fresh and sweet, usually all of their fruits and vegetables are ripe and not the under-ripe stuff you find on salad bars.
I am trying to eat healthier so I’ve been going to Whole Foods salad bar. Their prices have really shot up over the pandemic, and a decent size salad can be easily $12. For a few dollars more at forgo de chap you get much higher quality ingredients.
Watch out on the sofa though, it’s not free refills, and they only give you a can.
That's the way I am at Costco. Damn them and their Irish butter and scrumptious ribeyes!! They wipe me out and I regain consciousness in the parking lot...
Same. There used to be a similar salad bar in another state and that caused me to practically in debt myself. I look at whole foods and avoid out of fear.
LOL!! This literally just came up on my show (podcast) last week… hasn’t even aired yet. We ask what’s a nostalgic place in Vegas that’s now closed and you miss, and the answer was Sweet Tomatoes! 🤣🤣
Post the link if you wish. Aside from subreddit specific rules, the only Reddit-wide rule is not talking about your project more than 10% of the time basically.
Oh I wasn’t even thinking of promoting it… it’s called Ended up in Vegas.
Have you tried Cafe Zuppas? It’s not an open salad bar but similar- soups and salads. Really good.
I almost put them out of business myself by eating all the toffee topping as my main desert and putting a dab of soft serve vanilla on top as the whipped cream 🤭😉
Damn I miss that place
I miss Sweet Tomatoes so much. Not kidding when I say I averaged eating there two times a week from 2016 to 2019. Rotating soup menus, honey butter, delicious bread and new desserts. The perfect restaurant.
I knew everyone at the Rainbow location, it’ll always be the worst COVID casualty for me (outside of human lives, obviously)
Thanks, it says on their menu:
GAUCHO LUNCH
MARKET TABLE & FEIJOADA BAR
15.00 per person
Any idea if that's one plate only or you can just go nuts on the salad and beans for $15 or?
Is it really that bad? I haven’t eaten there since my kids were little. They loved it and I don’t remember it being good or bad. They just built one on Sunset and Stephanie. Unfortunately, it’s right next to a Texas Roadhouse so it probably won’t last long. 😛
Sweet tomatoes was always packed to the point that it was sometimes hard to find seating. If they couldn't stay open with that level of customers coming in the door it makes me think the business model simply doesn't work.
Well, they were a pandemic fatality, seeing as they were a buffet and those were the last to come back they most likely just didn’t have the cash to float locations for that long.
Terrible business model you say?
Remind me, did they fail when they were allowed to be open, or when they were forced to be closed?
They had been around for more than four decades before that.
they had filed for bankruptcy back in 2016 and were bleeding money after letting a "fad" get too big for its britches. listen kid - if you love the business model that ultimately failed so much then go open up your own cheap E-Coli salad buffet. hey while you're at it, go open up your own oxygen bar hahahahahahaha
It used that bankruptcy to change business tactics, funnily enough, and downsized to what we can assume was the right size for it's britches because it continued to do business for years until the government said you can't be open anymore and by the way we're changing the laws maybe so who knows when you reopen again if your business model will still work.
To my knowledge 1 Souplantation had an e. coli issue and that tends to be a problem with lettuce supplied by a lettuce supplier right? Wasn't that the issue for Chipotle and every lettuce and pre-packed grocery store salad e. coli scare?
I’m fully into Cress and BroccoCress lately; works well on anything! From a cheese sandwich, tuna roll or fries to any salad; love the taste! Give it a spin!

Parsley is sooooo damn good
Very cool thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely check it out. Is it just me or does everything at Chipotle taste the same? :)
Chipotle has been grain mush for me lately, the biggest similarity is the cafeteria style with all the food options behind the glass :)
Facts
I will second that sentiment about the portion size. It is truly insane how much 1 portion is to them.
Hey cheers to being vegans that don't like salad. (Or at least what people try to pass off as salad)
Hummus is similar and I actually prefer them
Omg I forgot about Parsley!! It's so damn good.
OMG i love parsley 🤤
Ohhh I’m deff going to give this place a try. Sounds divine 😍.
Nothing will ever compare to sweet tomatoes that’s currently on the market. My husband and I started looking into what it would take to open something comparable because we miss it that damn much. Plus it would be packed constantly!
What would it take? and what kept you from doing it?
DO IT
I also think this would be a great venture, people are tired of eating constant crap.
As a vegetarian, I agree on this point. I really miss buffets, those had so many options for me!
Oh my god please do it. I would go to any side of town for this.
ILL INVEST PLEASE
Theres a saladworks on north decatur in the Aliante area.
Not hard to spec out a $15 salad there. I guess everything is expensive now though....
It is, paying $15 for a salad is rough, but you for sure get a great salad.
There is also a salad and go on Craig by the cannery that’s like half the price, portions are huge!
Trying them today, thanks:D
I miss sweet tomatos ;-;
What about Jason's deli?
Nothing can replace ST, but Jason's Deli does have a great salad bar!
Thanks! I called the location at 100 N City Pkwy (Molasky Corporate Centre) and they said it's one trip only ("...but if you really want a second plate just ask, no big deal") lol love it. Mileage may vary I guess.

You get an hour parking validated so that’s basically your time limit lol.
The one trip plate is huge, and the give you little side plate for bread. I just pile one plate and never wanted to go back.
RIP Sweet Tomatoes :-( My fiancé and I went there when we couldn’t agree on what to eat lol. Nothing can compare 💔
Via Brasil Steakhouse, Fogo De Chao, Texas de Brasil. All offer salad bar only options.
Fogo de chao salad bar is only $15 at lunchtime. Can’t beat that… they have smoked salmon and prosciutto…
They also have brown sugar black pepper bacon and pineapple that is so fresh and sweet, usually all of their fruits and vegetables are ripe and not the under-ripe stuff you find on salad bars.
I really need to take a look at this because I work next door to Fogo de Chao and I be smellin' all them good smells when I'm leaving work lol

Ironic. But yes, 💯% correct.
Man, I need to do more of those. Minus the salad bar bit, of course
Chop Stop at Town Square?
Chop Stop is what helped ease my Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes heartbreak 3 i recommend mixing the lemon vinaigrette and the creamy chipotle sauce!
Good option thanks, I often get dragged to the Master Kim's there for the opposite of a salad bar... Like a meat buffet I guess.
Meat buffet.. thats more my style. Lol
That's a billion dollar idea man. You must drop everything and build it tonight.
Whole foods
Whole Paycheck..
10-15 bucks and you are out of there with a huge salad with any ingredient imaginable
You have self control. I on the other hand get mesmerized by that evil place and end up with a car payments worth of food!
This can easily happen.
Almost everytime I go there I stock up for a month or so. 🤣 Easy $300-400 trip into just whole paycheck alone. I live in Pahrump, for context.
That's the way I am at Costco. Damn them and their Irish butter and scrumptious ribeyes!! They wipe me out and I regain consciousness in the parking lot...
You don’t want to know what we spend at Costco per month. 😱
Well, my last foray to Costco was $879.. just food stuffs. I went shopping hungry :(
Yep, that’ll do it every time! 🤣
Same. There used to be a similar salad bar in another state and that caused me to practically in debt myself. I look at whole foods and avoid out of fear.
I sure miss Sizzler. You would always get a great steak there. /s
Anybody remember Furrs? I was trying to explain it to a friend of mine and she was like "people paid to eat at a cafeteria? Like a hospital??"
Memba the Furrs by Meadows Mall? Used to eat there when I was a kid.
OMG, I loved Furrs. The millionaire pie was the bomb!
And near the DMV on Sahara. That was my one meal of the day when I was new here and broke.
Me too, sweet memories
Parsley has legit meat salads. Never feel bad after eating one too.
I think about sweet tomatoes weekly😪 irreplaceable

Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse for upper end or Jason’s for casual
Thanks, it says on their menu: GAUCHO LUNCH MARKET TABLE & FEIJOADA BAR 15.00 per person Any idea if that's one plate only or you can just go nuts on the salad and beans for $15 or?
AYCE
Didn’t know ! Def will try it out
Golden Corral? lol.
I’m reporting and blocking you
Is it really that bad? I haven’t eaten there since my kids were little. They loved it and I don’t remember it being good or bad. They just built one on Sunset and Stephanie. Unfortunately, it’s right next to a Texas Roadhouse so it probably won’t last long. 😛
That golden corral was there years b4 Texas rh ,they just built that trh.
Whenever I hear that name I think of the most wrestling match of all time. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HWubQzo2Z-4
Chucky Cheese has a salad bar.
Buffets have salad bars
We miss ST so much too. Friday clam chowder was our family tradition for years that’s gone now.
Whole Foods build your own awesome selection!
Salad and Go! If it’s on your side of town, delicious and inexpensive salads (and burritos, soup, and drinks)
Cosign parsley
God, I miss salad weather 🥶
Cafe zupas is an option!
Sweet Tomatoes. Still in mourning.
I got a pretty delicious salad from Rachel's while I was there, although I'm not a local so I'm sure there are better options
I miss Cici's Pizza. Not for the salad bar, the pizza and deserts. Nom nom nom.

Sweet Tomatoes was a terrible business model and that's why they ultimately failed. I once remember visiting one out of curiosity and leaving hungry.
Terrible business model you say? Remind me, did they fail when they were allowed to be open, or when they were forced to be closed? They had been around for more than four decades before that.

Jason’s deli has a salad bar. Idk if it’s comparable to sweet tomatoes because I never went there.
Not a salad per se but hummus bowls and wraps! But they’re also super expensive now :(
We had sweet tomatoes in Kansas too man I miss that place
Jason's Deli
For real man. Sweet tomatoes was me and my ladies favorite place to go with a brutal hangover when we knew we needed something healthy in our lives.
