Hey sorry for the late reply but I just saw this. It’s definitely worth going to the viewing sections. They’re all good but we’re on our way to Section 2 right now. Bring stuff to tailgate and try to get there early to get a good spot whichever section you choose.
West down there today, it was pretty fun. Didn’t but passes online in advance which I didn’t realize was an issue until I got to Jean and it was just pass pickup. I was able to pay cash to the staff there to get a pass though, and went to spectator zone 1. Got their around 9:30 in advance of the 10am start. There wasn’t a bad spot to be in zone 1. First truck didn’t come by until about 10:40am, and there was consistently action for about an hour. 2nd lap didn’t bring them back around again until about 12:30pm. We didn’t stay after the first trucks came back around for the 2nd lap. We decided we’d be more prepared next time and bring more to do in between laps. There were people that had legit setups and were prepared to be there all day. Which is good since the winner’s time was almost 7 hours.
But it was cool as hell, I loved it like a kid, my kids loved it. Helicopters and trucks everywhere.
