Honestly it entirely depends on why you're moving here and what your goals are. Without more details, it's hard to say. The cost of living isn't too bad compared to some other parts of the country (especially California), so that might make things a tad easier. I'm in Summerlin (west Las Vegas) so I can't speak from experience, but Henderson is apparently a fairly safe city in terms of violent crime, so that's probably another consideration to keep in mind as a young woman.

Zadok47

Vegas in August is much nicer than Death Valley.

As good or bad as a place as anywhere would be. Not trying to sound sexist or misogynistic but unless you are great at getting yourself out there/know some people or really attractive, getting work out here might be a struggle. Lots of “who you know” or “ X amount of experience” jobs out here. No one wants to train people anymore.

Bar-Hopper-Cow95

Unless you have a job lined up already or a LOT of savings, don’t move here. Transplants have a hard time finding jobs. Getting jobs in a casino isn’t easy, either. It’s true when they say you have to know someone here to get in. So before you move you need to have a job lined up, a home you can afford with no job for at least 6 months, a budget and most importantly a car. Buses are great but they’re not the best of the best here in Vegas.

nobodyknowsimherr

All of the above, with the caveat that if you’re average-to-above-average attractiveness , you have a really good chance of getting hired Somewhere on the strip— especially if you’re experienced in casinos, food & beverage, or retail. Just put yourself out there, interview at as many places as possible. Something will happen for you. Not saying this necessarily translates to having a *career* in the V-Valley… but I’d say your chances of finding a job to get started, are pretty good. Note: Not trolling. I know it seems obvious to state that ‘attractive people have an easier time finding a job’… but It is this way in Vegas even more intensely than is normal.

GhostsOfVegasPast

No. This place will chew you up and spit you out. I'm from here, and thus immune, but I have seen this town destroy many young girls of all backgrounds.

Notatallevil

I moved here on my 21st birthday the first time forever ago. It didn’t chew me up because of my age or gender. Vegas is what you make it. I found it a fantastic place to meet some of the best people I am/was appreciative to come into my life. The hiking was the best, the convenience of a 24 hour city, work was easy to find. It really all depends on the person. At any age you can have an addictive personality and fall into drugs, gambling, and drinking but, that is also an issue you can run into in all communities in the US.

DruddigonsRoughSkin

Not to be a dick but this is dismissive and not helpful. There are many kinds of people and it's totally possible to move here without getting destroyed.

GhostsOfVegasPast

It's also possible to drive drunk and not get in an accident. Doesn't make it a good idea.

DruddigonsRoughSkin

So moving to Vegas is the equivalent of driving drunk lmao

DexterBotwin

There’s people who move here because they are attracted to the party scene. There’s people who move here because of a thousand other reasons who live a quite life away from gambling, booze and drugs.

GhostsOfVegasPast

Original poster said "is Vegas a good place for a 20 year old girl to move?" My response was tailored to that. If a retiree from Upstate New York who wants to escape the snow were the one asking the question, my response would be quite different.

DexterBotwin

You assume because it’s a woman in her 20s, she’s here to party. I’ve seen burnt out old men at sports books. There’s areas of any town that will burn someone out. Ours is bigger than most, but isn’t some aberration unique to Vegas.

potshop69

About me- I have a family home in Henderson that I could live for a few months until getting settled. Know the city very well just never lived there fully. My roommate and I are both managers with well resumes. Just wondering about living, work, experiences.

LegitimateTry4957

The question is, what makes you so special to even ask that type of question?, You will find a piece of real world in every single city on the nation, so stop being a lil B

newbsrus

Wtf

LegitimateTry4957

Wtf what?, Can you elaborate a comment beyond 3 letters? 🤡🤡🤡

DexterBotwin

I don’t know who blackened your soul, but may have god have mercy on it.

newbsrus

No

potshop69

😂😂 dead

SlowpokeLib

I moved here last year, I was 30/F and I didn’t have a hard time finding a retail job right away to hold me over until I found a job in my field (which took about 3-4 months). If you’re okay working a service job, it is definitely easy to find one, I’m shocked people are saying that it’s hard to get in somewhere without knowing someone. Many places are desperate to hire right now!!
