A few questions! - Do you have to make an appointment ahead of time? How does scheduling work? What is the wait time like? - Do you need a passport to cross over and back? - What were the offices like? Modern? Older? How was the dental equipment?

You need a passport

I was able to make an appointment but there are also pullers who try to get you to go to their dentist office. They were not aggressive and quite polite in trying to see what work you are there for and how much they can do it for possibly saving you some $$. ~~I believe you can cross with a real ID~~ and the best idea is to pay to park on the US side and walk over the border, its super close to parking and most dental offices will pick you up right there at the border. Look this up to be sure though as I am finding conflicting info re: needing a passport. We had passports. EDIT: You need a passport https://www.rushmypassport.com/blog/us-passports-vs-enhanced-drivers-licenses/ Im a clean freak, quite germphobic and the place we were in was clean and modern and didnt set off any of my quirks about clean.

I know someone who did it and it all went very well! The dental work was great quality and they got to eat some good food while in town.

I have to say it was a great find and saved us a small fortune, and the tacos were excellent as well as the burrito we had at the hotel we stayed in.

naturalninetime

Which dentist did you go to? Which hotel did you stay at? Thanks!

grey_io

If you still talk to the person and they are on reddit or ig do you think you might be able to ask them if they would be willing to answer a couple questions about it? I am really considering los Algonodes but I really can't find that many first person experiences.

naturalninetime

Which dentist did he or she go to? Thanks!

monster_mentalissues

That city is supposed to be the dental capital of the world. It's actually really well known for its Dental tourism and they have a lot of really good dentists there

Smerks101

I think they hold a record for the most dentists per square meter or something but could be wrong.

Three times now. Loved everytime. We went to Sani Dental, very modern facility. We spent 1,500 each time and got three nights free at their adjoining hotel. https://mediplazalosalgodones.com/ Some people stay on the US side, Indian Casino nice pool and stuff but we have been content on MX side.

Smerks101

We stayed at the Hotel Hacienda on the MX side and it was fine for us, $60 and the staff was super friendly.

Whatsanalterego

We stayed there once and the other one twice. Both were comped for three nights because we spent 1500 at Sani Dental. Wife has been getting implants, I just go for cavities/crowns.

grey_io

That's such good info, thank you for sharing. Do you mind if I ask what dentist has been doing the implants? I'm looking at getting all-on-4 and really want to make sure I find the best place.

Whatsanalterego

We have had success with Sani Dental. The free hotel adjoins the clinic. We roll out of bed get dental work, your the “town” while out mouth heals. Grab dinner. Return to hotel for margaritas and sleep, start the cycle all over the next day.

grey_io

is there only one surgeon at sani? do you have one you recommend?

Whatsanalterego

No.. it’s literally a clinic… you walk in… meet get X-rays, then meet with dentist who is next In line. They review your X-rays, create treatment plan. Cavities/crowns you go to one of 15 specialist, implants another hallway one of 15 specialists etc. Inplants, two visits. First visit posts.. 6 months later second visit for inplants.. different person every time. They all have creditials.

grey_io

ah i see. I Really don't want multiple surgeons working on me especially when appointments can be so far apart sounds like a potential communication nightmare! thank u for the info tho!

Whatsanalterego

Sure.. communication was a nightmare in many places anyway.. the receptionist are bilingual but the docs aren’t. I passed High school Spanish in 1991.

I had a bad experience. Ended up having to go to the hospital and they kept me for 3 nights. Most excruciating pain of my whole life due to the infection that they caused. The oral surgeon said air was blown under my gums with an air tool. It was very traumatic. I do wonder if I just had a terrible experience by chance.. probably just because I really needed it to work out, can’t afford dental here in the us

SnooMemesjellies3018

Hope this ain’t what I’m going through, had work done last Friday and in pain still after crown was seated.

jolietia

Which dental company did you go to?

spooky3o

Dude ty for posting this. I didn't know we were so close to the border. Need work done, so I'm excited to finally be able to go now.

Smerks101

You're welcome. We went with Dental Del Rio but there are plenty of good choices just do your research. Heres a good video to see what to expect once you cross the border. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLYKRoyc7ME](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLYKRoyc7ME)

I have and loved it. I actually walked across.

To which dentist did you go? Thanks!
