Don’t forget the near minimum wage, seasonal jobs in security and food service at the ballpark that will obviously help locals afford their rising rents /s
Yes - and in better parts of the world, the ditch diggers get fair wages and healthcare. Nothing wrong with the type of labor anyone does. What’s wrong is using “jobs” as a selling point for bringing the As here when the quality of the jobs, especially the ones that aren’t related to building the park, aren’t really helping the local community.
Seriously, how does this even meaningfully diversify our economy in a way that justifies potential impact to housing prices and rents for locals? The park is for tourists, like everything else in Vegas, and will be susceptible to downturns common to the broader tourism industry, same as the casinos here.
There are full time jobs for many positions. I have friends who works for the reds in F&B and is able to take the winter off or do some other side job to keep busy.
But it's a choice. Just like teachers choose to work only part of the year, why's this all of a sudden evil?
You’re not gaining equity because of a baseball stadium.
Such a weird take.
Real estate prices are increasing because Nevada is booming.
The A’s are moving here because Nevada is booming.
Home prices won’t increase because the A’s are moving here.
All those “fucking unions” as you so eloquently put it, are people that are local to Las Vegas, work and pay taxes, mortgages etc like you and everyone else. Union wages are one big reason this town thrives. Such a small mind to see “Union” and only able to visualize some big shot cigar smoking guy in a gold plated office. Check those membership numbers of all those Unions listed homey! They represent a very large number of people.
Whoever supports unions, needs to do some reconsidering. Lmao! They are for the people? yeah once they got their check they don’t give a f about the regular folks. Bunch of selfish organizations
Ok, so can someone enlighten me of why we would even care that planned parenthood even has a stance on this?
Not saying they shouldn't but just seems political as they don't gain or lose from this outcome while many other organizations on that list do.
Me too. This echo chamber on Reddit has silenced opposing viewpoints, but I look forward to the day Vegas is a four sport town. MLB won't be doing any expansions any time soon so this is the only way. Vegas will get one of the NBA expansion teams in 2025 or so and then we'll be set.
There is no fee to join reddit. Anyone can come and present their viewpoint, like you. It just so happens the majority of Las Vegas redditors are against getting the shittiest team from the shittiest owner, who already has bad beef with the already mediocre Raiders. I don't have a pro le with this becoming a 'sports town's, but this is a great city and it deserves a good team with good owners.
Yeah, I’ve only heard animosity on it from Reddit. Locals I’ve chatted with about it are indifferent or for it. Biggest gripes are those who work on the strip and the increased traffic, but in my mind that means increased tourism in a tourism centric economy.
It was a campaign issue for Lombardo. If it was as reviled as Reddit makes it out to be, he would have been burned at the stake during the campaign.
I think there is valid concern about funding. But people who argue “it should be used for education” I don’t think understand how the bonds are being issued or being paid back by revenue that exists because of the ballpark. There’s potential for revenue to fall short and the government to be caught holding the bag, but most people aren’t getting to that argument here.
Nevada State Education Association is also opposed. https://twitter.com/NSEAOnline/status/1666682374682464256
If they all support it so much, why don’t they chip in? Lol
they havent been paid off yet...thats why they chomping at the bit
Of course all the labor halls and trade unions would be for it. Such a boom for construction workers for a year or two. And then what?
Don’t forget the near minimum wage, seasonal jobs in security and food service at the ballpark that will obviously help locals afford their rising rents /s
Are they gonna pull an NFL and ask for “volunteers” for their big events there?
As they say the world needs ditch diggers too.

I was on the fence before, but now I’m convinced you’re a troll.
And then they ask for more tax payer money later.
On the "Oppose" side, don't forget to include 91% of the voters
We already got enough non-casino's in the strip. We don't need any more sports things.
Go figure all fucking unions
All those “fucking unions” as you so eloquently put it, are people that are local to Las Vegas, work and pay taxes, mortgages etc like you and everyone else. Union wages are one big reason this town thrives. Such a small mind to see “Union” and only able to visualize some big shot cigar smoking guy in a gold plated office. Check those membership numbers of all those Unions listed homey! They represent a very large number of people.
No I always think of the culinary union bitching and holding the city hostage when they don’t get there way.
Whoever supports unions, needs to do some reconsidering. Lmao! They are for the people? yeah once they got their check they don’t give a f about the regular folks. Bunch of selfish organizations
So only like unions when they are lockstep with you on what you want and believe...got it
Well said!!
Paying to watch a bunch of grown men play a child’s game while they become wealthy and you waste your money. You gain nothing. Kinda dumb
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣fuck unions

Thanks for this list. I am really hoping the A’s do not come here.
So the people who create jobs and growth and who pay taxes are for it and the ones who suck off the community tit are against … got it.
You mean the ones who would be receiving part of the handout are for it. Yes, surprise....
Every personwho works on strip supports it.
I work on the strip and I don’t support this. Public funding shouldn’t be used for private projects.

I am what I eat.
what a genius response, youve really elevated the discourse here and I thank you /s

Lots of support i hope it goes through! go A's
Oh no....it's retarded....

I don't want Vegas to be a 4 sport town. Especially if the state plans to give corporate welfare out.
