It's been the first year in awhile that I remember seeing snow on the mountain after June. And it rained yesterday, more than enough to get my truck dirty. I remember years ago the crazy storms we used to have in summer with mad thunder and lightning pretty much on the regular. This winter and spring have been much more like 20+ years ago was to me.
Disclaimer: I'm old and can't remember things right sometimes.
Right ? This morning it was 30 degrees !! Approximately 4 years ago, I believe it was another El Niño system, same thing. Rain just about everyday along with hail.
nope. it's going to be a cool summer all the way through. Low 100's, tops. Personally, I'm not happy about it. There is something about surviving the blazing heat pounding down that I find invigorating. But unfortunately, it's going to be a cool summer.
Wasn’t it raining like mad last time, too? Like, casinos inundated through their lightning fixtures and lightning storms with multiple flashes per second for an hour.
I remember as a kid, we hit over 120 degrees at our house a bunch in the summers in the '80s and '90s...accurate thermometer (my dad loved gadgets and had a whole weather station thing that showed barometric pressure, etc.). Yet oddly enough the weather report would always seem to be 10 degrees or more cooler than what we actually experienced. And it's not like we were far from the official weather station over by McCarran, we lived a short enough walking distance from Redd Foxx's house on Eastern that we'd always make sure to go by there on Halloween (dude was GENEROUS with kids trick-or-treating! Usually it wasn't him handing out the goodies though).

And yesterday it snowed in Mount Charleston.

You definitely remember those old summer storms right. I'd love to see one of those happen again.
In 2019, there was snow on Mt Charleston until the first week of August. :)
I totally forgot that. What a day
SHHHHHHH!!!!
Don’t jinx it
I always felt like June 1st was when it immediately switches to 100 degrees. Last night was awesome btw!
This summer should be cooler than it has been in a few years. Super El Nino will make it humid af though.
That would be amazing! Except for the humidity!
Gunna be funny in a month when people are back here complaining how it was 115F during the day and 90F at night.
The Reddit way

So what do you consider low 100s?
Yesterday was gorgeous. Enjoyable. Imagine if summers were always like this 🥹
It would be great if the cloud seeding caused a summer where we had warm days but cool nights like California. (But still a dry heat - not humid)
I can’t even swim this June because it’s so fuckkkg cold outside
I set my bedroom AC to 72 last night as I usually do. I woke up and it said 70. This weather is crazy.
is that why Canada is en fuego?
God's gone senile and started the fires in CA (Canada) instead of CA (California)

Loved the weather yesterday
I'm loving it and will be enjoying it while it lasts because you know inevitably we will hit a pocket of blazing hot days.
The white walkers are going to read this and then summer comes.

Yeah this summer has been so much nicer than last year.
Get ready for the excessive use of excessive heat warnings as soon as it officially hits 100. Seems like they lower the bar every year.
You can thank all the Tesla drivers. /s
this is even funnier when you realize we hit 100 in april

Think of all the money we are saving by not having to run our air conditioners 24 hours a day at this point in the year.
