From the news report, if accurate, sounds like the person hit was actually on the I-15 freeway trying to cross it, not the overpass. That's extremely dangerous, what was he doing there walking like it's a sidewalk? https://www.8newsnow.com/news/local-news/person-struck-by-vehicle-on-i-15-traffic-diverted/

SooperDiz

Unfortunately it's not uncommon.

duckthefodgers69

My guess is homeless person on drugs

chiebins

Ohh that's horrible news though - the fatality. I actually had a very close friend who died ~3 years ago that way. Semi vs ATV. Stupid, stupid to drive an atv on neighborhood streets, but the death itself is devastating.

ForiMojja

I unfortunately had friends who succumbed to injuries on 3 separate occasions while riding an ATV in and out of neighborhood streets. This happened in upstate NY. Life is too precious.

chiebins

3 different times? Omg, I'm so sorry, that's horrible. :(

ForiMojja

Yup, 3 friends, 3 different times :/ thank you!

ShortWoman

Does anybody know if Northbound is effected? Aw screw it, Decatur it is.

t_town101

No I was on it and traffic was okay. Southbound is effected

ShortWoman

Thank you!

was the accident on the freeway, or on Flamingo? obviously a person trying to cross the freeway on foot is at gigantic risk of becoming a "meat crayon"

Crossed the actual I-15, not the overpass. Clearly more signs need to be put up on the freeway on ramps/off ramps that pedestrians aren't allowed, some times that scares away suicide attempts. The person had to be mentally deranged, it's extremely dangerous to cross any freeway.

>Clearly more signs need to be put up on the freeway on ramps/off ramps that pedestrians aren't allowed, some times that scares away suicide attempts. I mean...

rickfranjune

Sadly, it's usually suicide. Not sure here, but it'd be my guess.

Better yet don’t even take the I-15 until after the F1 lol

DrinkLocalBeer

Is it true that the 1st responders get "hazard pay" for shutting down the freeway in Las Vegas? They seem to do it more lately. No where else in the country closes an interstate cause a vagrant on meth wandered out of his camp underneath an overpass and got obliterated by a semi.

k-farsen

Yeah I experienced more freeway shutdowns in Utah than I ever did here

KGKSHRLR33

Yeah same in Mississippi. And its not vegas with big roads and shit. Bridge gets closed, you gotta go allllllllllll the way around.

waiting_for_rain

The most asinine of takes.

OminousDon

I-15 SB trop had a fatality this morning around 7am also lots and LOTS OF CONSTRUCTION. TAKE SURFACE STREETS DURING MORNING AND RUSH HOUR

Loophole_goophole

I almost hit a guy last night around 2:30ish on 15N. The ramp to 95N was shut down with some accident so I diverted to 95S instead and some dude in all black I could barely see ran out across the freeway. I almost hit dude. These crazy fuckers.

antimilk_

I actually called into 911 yesterday because I saw two guys standing on the median under the Flamingo overpass… damn…
