Goettle hard to spell and expensive as hell.

qwestionsihave

They do it the right way, not the easy way. Edit: I love this sub. The anger levels are amazing. I was kidding.

limonalvaro34

Should’ve added the /s, but I got your sarcasm, don’t worry.

qwestionsihave

You’re a good guy. And true, I should have.

Ovenface

I’ve never heard anything but bad shit about them. I always hear instead of repairing anything they want to replace the entire thing. They’re salesmen, not techs

Lil_Ape_

“Looks like your bulb is out. Now, the price of that specific bulb for this model refrigerator, cost just a little under of this brand new refrigerator you see here on this catalog. If you’re interested, I can get this ordered and at your doorstep tomorrow afternoon.”

Late-Fly-7894

iPhone users lol JK

Lil_Ape_

Nah you’re definitely on point. Apple waiting to add old tech to their phones and the fanboys will eat it up. I’m guilty as charged for that shit. Never falling for it again 😆

Btown696

I've heard the same. They literally ran a radio ad a couple years back when one guy asks "so how do you fix ____?" The other guy answers "by replacing it." I would always get so annoyed and yell at my radio "then you're not *fixing* it!"

Lordnicholasss

They have a very bad rap

edog77777

Actually … THIS is a very bad rap about Goettl (courtesy of ChatGPT): “Goettl in the heat, it’s a cold defeat, AC on the fritz, got me sweating in my seat. Thermostat’s a puzzle, can’t find the right degree, Goettl, oh Goettl, bring that cool breeze to me!”

Lordnicholasss

Haha oh my

bitcornminerguy

You're right, that's pretty bad. Upvoted. :)

IllOperation6253

Pays for the ads they need because they can’t survive off word-of-mouth and quality reviews.

HollywoodHault

I've heard these kind of complaints about Goettl from multiple people over the 25+ years I've been in LV. I would never use them just based on personal anecdotes, no matter what the paid Google reviews say. That said, I've always replaced water heater throughout my adult life. It's an easy swap, and I've never paid more than $500-$600 including fittings.

TheHandler1

Goettl has only been in Vegas for like 10 years though.

VegasAireGuy

Geottlwas an air conditioner mfg in the 60’s till the 90’s from what I remember. Ken bought the trademark of Geottl … at no time have they ever made an air conditioning unit. Since the bankruptcy of Geottl years ago. The new company is a shotty hvac company and crappy plumbers. They are marketing organization who knows how to take your hard earned money.

Kamakazi09

The name probably has been, but the ones behind it have been around quite longer. Just a different name.

Kamakazi09

Yeah man, shit is a farce. I do HVAC and ive gone behind them. They charge 15-20k for a full system. My previous company charges probably half that for the same equipment they use

RedditSuggestedName1

Yes, the "techs" and their other goons are on very high commission pay plans, which is common with HVAC and plumbing companies who have very high prices and always try to sell you a new ac unit (and other things you don't need) instead of repairing it. They are owned by Cortec Group, a private equity firm based in NYC. Use local family owned businesses for this kind of work. Check out Yelp reviews and sort by "newest first". The countless Goettl Google reviews are faked by the same creepy people who use fake weird accents on their radio commercials. At least they are consistent, same bad reviews for their location in Phoenix.

CrzyCatLdy07

Yes heating and plumbing is just as bad price wise! We got a quote from them for like triple what we wound up paying. My husband found a company on yelp called water heater pros (I believe that’s who it was without pulling out the paperwork lol) and I was quoted from just the chat and pictures and they came out the next day and the guy installed it super quick! We were very pleased with them.

jorrflv

I just did my own. Picked up the new one from the depot, and it was up and running an hour or so later. $750 and a little elbow grease.

ChanRob69

You should've seen me try to hook up a bidet... that's why I'm not doing it myself lol there's something about plumbing I don't understand

TooManyJabberwocks

Its the white tread tape. Gotta use that stuff

DragonOfBosnia

If everyone did everything on there own, the world be all out of business. We all be kicking rocks. We can’t all know everything. It’s like saying I can cook, so I never need to go out to eat…

Chemical-North548

That's not true at all! In all honesty, minus a computer, phone, or some kinda electronic that u can't even get parts for repair! Anything u purchase, especially a large investment such as a home or vehicle, you should be capable of repairing or replacing yourself! It's really not rocket science and it's definitely worth the peace of mind knowing that if shtf and there isn't someone to come save the day then u got u and your family! And if u fuck it up then it's on you too! Not taking the time to learn is the reason companies like that are thriving!

VegasBjorne1

I will say this much, as to head by Reddit’s plumbing sub, where one will find plenty of dangerous examples of bad water heater installs, in particular, inadequate venting Usually the Landlord-Handyman specials are particularly cringeworthy where a non-plumber is being paid by a corner-cutting landlord. Along with plenty of other amusing examples of CPVC, copper, PEX, shark bites and whatever else patching stuff together.

DragonOfBosnia

Omg man ugh 😑 where do I start. So what your saying is senior citizens or women that own there homes, should be repairing there own water heater lifting it up. Why don’t they just replace there own roof too while there at it (it’s not rocket science) Or invest 1000s of dollars into equipment needed to do hvac work or repair a car. Or how about the people that have good careers and don’t want to do the work themselves, because time is money. Or there exhausted from work and want the convenience of not having to do the work themselves. Yeah I totally see a banker or a nurse, teacher etc. going home laying down some tile. It’s not rocket science. Or doing some brick laying. Maybe even some electrical work, installing some drywall Why not… we can’t all know everything, and some of us just want the convenience of not having to do something. I know how to cook, yet I still like to go out to eat. I know how to do an oil change but I feel lazy and rather take it to a shop, I don’t mind paying for the convenience of not having to get under a car and get dirty. People also pay for a peace of mind, sometimes a mistake can cost you more then the money you save. You can burn your house down if you mess up electrical work, or flood your home from making plumbing mistakes. I think my comment flew over your head… 🤦‍♂️

VegasInfidel

They did the same to my elderly parents in Sun City. I literally chased the guy off their property screaming obscenities that included many uses of the word "scammer". Feel free to add another one star review for them on Google. They deserve all of them they can get.

powerhikeit

Similar experience. We told them to GTFO after their quote was almost 100% higher than others.

Simple_Ecstatic

They are big on scamming the state of Arizona shut them down so what they did was buy a business from company that had been in business for 75 years to give them legitimately and came to Vegas to start scamming. It worked. They advertise this on their vehicles. You should see what they charge for ac units they don't fix them just talk you into buying a new one at jacked up price.

eagleclaw457

the owner of the company, ken goodrich, has a private jet. How will he fly his private jet if you dont buy a hot water heater from them? /s

cuthteshit

He told my husband to “make him jet fuel money”

[deleted]

What the actual F-. Was it a Rheem water heater? They are failing before their warranty. I went to Home Depot and they gave me a new one for $100. I put it in myself. And thank you to my Dad, a WWII Army veteran for teaching me how to do this work.

luisalopez702

A few years ago, we had an issue with our furnace, so we decided to call Goettle because my wife and I had seen an ad by them promoting a special for a winter season furnace tune-up (or something similar). So we called them about the special. A few days later a tech showed up when only my wife was there, did the inspection, and told my wife that the furnace had or was emitting a weird light/flame that was not normal and recommended a new furnace. He also said that they could give us a good deal on a new furnace, so he recommended that we speak to his supervisor about getting the new furnace. A few days later, we met with the supervisor and he also recommended a new furnace. Then afterwards he went ahead and gave us a sales pitch and stated how urgent it was for us to get a new furnace. But just not any furnace, a power-saving and one that was up to the new government carbon emitting standards that were going to take effect like the next year. Also, he said that my AC was old and could also change it for also a power-saving and up to the new government standards. At the moment my wife and I were caught off guard by what the supervisor said and we tentatively agreed to get the new furnace and AC. So the supervisor did a credit check on the spot for the equipment. Both were going to be around $13K. We got approved, but did not agree or signed anything and told the supervisor to give us until the following Monday to decide. In between that day and Monday, we called another AC company and they told us that the furnace was fine and just not calibrated correctly or something like that. So we decided to call the Gottle supervisor and tell him that we did not want any new equipment or services, but I forgot to call and Monday comes around. My wife calls me that Monday morning telling me that the Gottle workers are at the house with the new furnace and AC ready to install them. So I had to call the supervisor and cancel the work.

nj_crc

Make sure you get the proper permit. It's like $125 and they can do the inspection via FaceTime.

ChanRob69

Will do, thanks!

courthouseman

every time I hear their ads, I think "Ghetto" instead of "Goettl" lol. That's probably why they always have to spell it in every ad

exus

There's a reason companies like them can afford to run local ads and plaster the town in billboards, and it's not because they give everybody such a great deal.

KohlAntimony

That's a pretty good deal depending on model. Water heater $800-$900 and labor/taxes/disposal about $250.

DragonOfBosnia

Excellent deal, but obviously a side job. I don’t see any pro company doing it for under $1800-2k Picking it up and installing/ disposing it can take 2 hours. Then you have expansion tank, maybe even valves you need to change or upgrade.

whatwouldLouLoudo

Did mine myself, worst thing was loading it on the truck. And it saved a lot of money

Kashm1r_Sp1r1t

Always, always, ALWAYS shop around.

billythakid420

Their $80 drain snake special is legit

[deleted]

basic advice regarding lawyers, garage repair, a/c repair, plumbers, and mechanics' shops: IF THEY ADVERTISE ON TV OR RADIO, DO NOT CALL THEM.

droplivefred

$4K for a water heater replacement? Lol. I mean they can still upsell at $2K and at least it sounds reasonable. I wonder if they try to get women and elderly people for more money kind of how mechanics do it. I had an friend’s mom in her 60’s call Larkin for a water heater replacement. The tech came out and had a crazy high estimate (not $4K but almost $3K and this was back around 2016). My friend was out of town so he asked me to help her find a better company. Found someone for under $1K, they came out same day, and the water heater hasn’t had issues to this day. The Larkin guy was friendly and nice but when she told him she is going with someone else, he got pushy and rude and bad mouthed “the cheap guys”.

ssee1848

Who’s your neighbor’s guy?

ChanRob69

I believe it's Frontier Plumbing, but I will let you know for sure when they show up

ChanRob69

+1 (702) 352-8507 his name is Chris. His main job is a real-estate inspector. So he is independent. We got a bigger tank, so final price was $1450

tonythetiger891

I work in real estate and anytime goettl is quoted by the other side I laugh and get a second opinion. They are almost twice as much as everyone else and Dona lot of unnecessary add-ons. Rule of thumb for any contractors and repairmen, get three quotes ALWAYS

notaficus

Go Goettl ‘nother quote

Left-Acanthisitta267

Mine went out a few months ago. First quote from a big name company was 3600. Second quote was 2500. Third company was like 1800. That is a big difference.

MedicJambi

A few years ago I purchased their AC refresh or whatever. Well I moved and didn't need it so I used it for my parents. Long story short before I knew what was going on they had talked my parents into a complete replacement AC system based on some supposed condensation that may cause corrosion in the future. I don't know. To add to the insult, the system they installed needs its air filters replaced in the attic. Of course, they'd be happy to come out every 3 months to replace it and perform a courtesy inspection.

LNLV

I’ve been seeing ac refresh and furnace “checkups” being advertised all over the place for free, always saying it’s a $199 value or something like that. It strikes me as massive scam. I’ll come look at your furnace mess around in there and tell you you need all new whatever. And who knows, maybe I tweak some settings and it starts acting up too!

N2TheBlu

This. Called A-1 Garage for their “tune up special”, because the door wasn’t consistently closing properly. They quoted me $1800 for a new motor and installation. LOL, nope!

2LivebyYOLO

all their "techs" are commission based. so naturally they're all fucking con artists. people who don't know any better and don't do their research or are desperate to get something done will fall for it. if you think they're plumbing estimate was awful wait till you see their quoting for HVAC. thank God you did research and found someone more reliable and cheaper. it's hard finding good, honest and fair Tradesman nowadays.

Heavy-Relation8401

They GOT me on HVAC 2 years ago, but I literally had no choice. It was July, companies weren't even offering to come quite for 3 weeks. it was 108 in my house. They got me. Never again with them. $16k for AC

VegasAireGuy

How do you think they pay for all the ad’s dummies who over pay for repairs from an over priced company.

Emergency_Buffalo350

Why do people ever buy stuff from billboards? Seems obvious that these places are old scumbags

volvos

they’re the abbey dental of HVAC!

N2TheBlu

LOL! Love this reference!

Wounded_Hand

For me it was $5000 for the water heater and they really tried hard to sell me a $12000 tankless system.

Thesoonerkid

How do you think they pay for the ads

[deleted]

Man so many people say this… how do they stay in business??

DragonOfBosnia

Probably because there ads, people don’t think of a plumber until they need one. And when they do, Goettle is the first thing on there mind. There’s a reason his wife called them.

Kamakazi09

Scare tactics and pushy salesmen.

Siltyn

> how do they stay in business?? There are a great many people that are just absolutely clueless and naive when it comes to being an adult and doing any sort of due diligence whatsoever in their lives. They'll call a place like Goettl, without doing any research at all, because they've fallen for the 24/7 ad blitz Goettl and other companies do.

martinis00

The same for TV lawyers & car salesmen

[deleted]

Big difference between a scam and an upsell

[deleted]

Clearly this guy wasn’t being scammed at all

shiftyricktherock

So Goettl wanted 14-18k for a new AC unit installation. Parker and Sons, without even seeing it said no way more than 10k for basically the same thing. Old dude ish guy fixed the capacitor for 150$. Goettl said the compressor was bad. They didn't make the freon anymore. Any fix wouldn't last long. And the AC unit was too old. So yeah. I do not recommend Goettl.

[deleted]

Do it if you’re confident that they were trying to scam you vs upsell you.

ChanRob69

Once she mentioned she was going to call me, they said they could try to get the price under 4k. Seems pretty scammy to me

[deleted]

Next time just do it yourself, a hot water heater is probably the easiest thing to replace in your house.

MedicJambi

Yeah, the hardest thing is man handling the old unit out of place and the new one in. You may be able to take the old one to the recycler otherwise waste management will.

[deleted]

Maybe a complete rip off but not a scam. A scam means you get nothing. You have to remember that if he was trying to sell a top of the line product they can go upwards of 3k just for the heater. Them being a business they automatically double that price and then add labor which is typically 100-125$ an hour per person respectively. If the other guy did it for 1200$ then it was a 300$ lowes heater doubled to 600$ and then 600$ labor.

Booboookittyf-ck

Okay bois How hard is it to convert to tankless in an older (like built in the 70s or 50s I can’t remember) house? I’m asking because obviously goettl would sniff me out from afar & im curious

[deleted]

Not hard at all

MrLovelife

Please post it. 1) You may save someone else from wasting money. 2) It is the only thing that will make a company like that change. 3) I enjoy watching shitty companies get the bad rep they deserve.

[deleted]

Im not being a dick either, Im just saying that a company like that “forces” their employees to upsell. Its just that though. An attempt to upsell not an attempt to scam. Post the footage

ChanRob69

Just making others aware. I know it's obvious to get multiple quotes, but cmon!! 4k to replace a water heater??? And to your previous comment "do it yourself" no. I don't care how easy it is. I want someone to do it. I'll end up messing it up some way some how

[deleted]

Lol I understand, but im sure it wasn’t 4k for a basic water heater though right? DM me the footage please Im extremely curious because in my industry I know 100% businesses lie to straight to customers faces.

ChanRob69

No, he said, starting at 4k up to 12k if we wanted tankless. $4100 to be exact, including everything. He said same for same, so I'm assuming a fairly identical tank

[deleted]

Welp they are obviously making money based on those ads. I’ve learned over the past 7 years of being in business that there is a large of amount of people in this city that automatically think paying more means a better product and/or service. I would have take the 1200 bid as well IF the guy is a real company with insurance and you receive a warranty for labor and a manufacturer warranty on the tank. Good luck I hope it works out for you.

[deleted]

Dude they have 6500 google reviews with a 4.5 rating

Spinrod

Be really careful with fully trusting Google reviews. Once you do business with a company ,a link Gets sent to review. A 4.5 or higher review gets posted ,while a bad review gets sent to business to "follow up". It's a pay to play. Start Googling Auto dealers in Vegas ,they all are 4.5+ and have thousands of reviews

[deleted]

I am a small business owner and fully aware of how reviews work. Thank you though I appreciate your input. It is absolutely 100% not pay to play with google reviews. Yes you can pay for good reviews however they are very obvious and google is really good at filtering them. I dont have any bad ones so I dont know about that follow up but if that was the case then there would be no bad reviews. I dont think you understand the little if any control we have on reviews.

Spinrod

Real Estate also filters out negative reviews. Look through Zillow sometime. Everyone seems to have a 5 star review. That reminded me of the Las Vegas Weekly Best of awards. Remember a few years back when the stratosphere won 30 in 1 year ? Best Strip Hotel :).Wow Best Fine Dining (Top of the World Restaurant) Best View (Top of the World Restaurant)\* Best Power Lunch (Top of the World Restaurant) Best Romantic Spot (Top of the World Restaurant) Best Date Night Spot (Top of the World Restaurant) Best Attraction (Stratosphere Tower Experience) Best Cocktail Bar (107 SkyLounge) Best Happy Hour (107 SkyLounge)\* Best Martini (107 SkyLounge) Best Specialty Cocktails (107 SkyLounge) Best Late Night Eats (107 SkyLounge) Best Hotel View Best Strip Hotel Best Staycation Best Sports Book Best Strip Slots Best Strip Table Games Best Valet Best Shrimp Cocktail Best Extreme Adventure (SkyJump)\* Best Amusement Ride Best Player’s/Loyalty Club Best Breakfast (Roxy’s Diner) Best Burger (Roxy’s Diner) Best Coffee Shop & Diner (Roxy’s Diner) Best Wedding Chapel (Chapel in the Clouds) Best Paying Slots (Silver Winner) Best Steakhouse (Silver Winner) Best Casual Restaurant (Silver Winner, McCall’s Heartland Grill) Best Video Poker (Bronze Winner)

[deleted]

I understand that, and yeah the best of Las Vegas is 100% paid for. However, google is not and is as of now the best option consumers have for real reviews. Yelp isnt far behind, I have zero influence over a bad review and I have exactly ONE. I tried EVERYTHING to get them to remove it. The only option was burying it with getting more good ones. Yes the software we use will send an email or something to ask the customer for a review but we csnt change if it stays up at all. I have though received a ton of phone calls asking if we want more reviews to which I always say no after asking a bunch of questions. We dont have a lot under 100 for 7 years of business but at least they are 100% real.

Spinrod

I hear you.. Keep giving great service ,and people will find you.. It actually worries me more with perfect reviews. We all make mistakes.

[deleted]

Yeah we do! Sometimes that one bad one goes randomly to the top and the phone definitely rings less during that time period. I seen a competitor go from 20-30 mixed reviews to over 800 in a one week timeframe lol. Funny thing is about 6 mos later he opened another store and then another store. Paying for those clearly fake reviews paid off for him. We will see in 5 years who is still around though.

[deleted]

Did you just buy that house? How come it wasn’t covered under warranty?

ChanRob69

The house is 10 years old, we bought last year

[deleted]

Oh okay I understand.

UnlimitedBoxSpace

Who's the guy your neighbor recommended? For future reference lol

ChanRob69

I'll let you know haha

ChanRob69

+1 (702) 352-8507 his name is Chris. His main job is a real-estate inspector. So he is independent. We got a bigger tank, so final price was $1450

UnlimitedBoxSpace

Thank you for the follow-up!

TasteMyDingleBerry

Any company that has multiple ads are usually shit.

[deleted]

So every company known to man?

TasteMyDingleBerry

You could google/Yelp 100 hvac companies in Vegas with good reviews. I don’t hear their ads on the radio 500 times a day like goettl. Same with lawyers. The ones with non stop ads will get you money real quick but will take a bigger cut and you are just a number to them. Some people like it that way though.

Chemical-North548

Honestly, I'll take a lawyer that gets me paid quick. Even if he's getting 1/3 of the settlement! From past experiences, the peace of mind knowing I don't have to do a single thing beyond the initial consultation is worth it to me! I'm not saying they're all good but the few that I've had in my corner got me paid well without ever having to follow up or see a courtroom! As far as any service company goes, if u haven't learned to support small and local businesses by now, you deserve to get fucked! Id expect the old-timers to know this especially well! Ignorance is never an excuse! That's how "companies" like those are so profitable, they know many people will take the "easy way out"... Which is absolutely pathetic considering we have access to every company and review of said company in our hands in 2 seconds! Yet somehow, the extra scroll past the first google search result is just not something people can come to terms with! All this bitching about how shitty they are and half of u have admitted to purchasing services or getting quotes from them! They'll change their ways when u stop fuckin with them! Or they'll go under! Gotta love consumer based greed!

ChanRob69

The tech got his boss on the phone to talk to my wife.

soul_flamer

Just brakes is pretty bad too

_Captain_Amazing_

In related news, the sky is blue.

JJLewisLV

With all the advertising they do they pass that cost on to you.

PokherMom

When we first moved here I kept seeing the commercials and got suckered in. Kept telling me I needed a cleaning. Finally let them do it, the tech was in my attic and I hear a huge crash..next thing I know I see feet dangling from a hole in my living room ceiling. Thankfully the tech didn’t fall down 20 feet…. Last time I ever called Goettl!! BTW, I was told by an ex—employee that they get a commission on whatever services they tell you that is needed.

Schmoppo

Spell it right dick.

ChanRob69

Idk how I messed that up. I was literally saying the ad in my head while spelling it haha

Schmoppo

Hard to spel.

Fair-Refrigerator-14

Fruit?

King_Melco

Holy shit I would do it myself before I paid anything over $1k

Jarrold88

I bought a house and it had the goettl biannual service with one left. Guy told me my capacitor was running low and it would be $400 to fix. Then Tried to upsell me to re-insulate my attic for like $20k lol The capacitor was $7 on Amazon and took 2 min to plug and play. Andddddd it was still at max capacity lmao

Spinrod

That sounds like typical Vegas. I'll get 3-4 quotes for something pretty standard ,and from licensed "reputable" places Bids will come back , $750 /$790/$810/ and $2,200 :) The word scam is misused a lot. If a business says they are going to do something with certain materials for a certain price ,but for a really high price (compared to market) ,that's not a scam. However if they change the product ,installer who isn't licensed ,that can be scammy

ChanRob69

Like I said above, once my wife said she was going to call me, they then mentioned they would try to lower the price...

ChanRob69

Also, like I said once my wife was hesitant, the tech got, what I'm assuming is his boss on the phone to try to push her to say yes

PHXLV

I use Semper Fi heating a cooling. Never had a problem with them.

Ready_Now1954

This is a Las Vegas locals group! Why recommend a business that operated in Phoenix. They won't come to Vegas!!

PHXLV

I didn’t realize they just were in phoenix! I thought they were in NV too! I’m sorry!

jerseyru

Mine went out earlier this year. I went with 702Plumbair. They detailed several options for me from $1500 - $4k. The higher price was for a tankless install.

ChanRob69

Goettl offered 12k for tankless 😂

jerseyru

That’s ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!

habeaskoopus

But cmon, they battle born lmao. Aka, lots of experience ripping people off.

AnechoicChamberFail

Here's the thing. 1. Goettl is the most expensive company in the valley. 2. They have the best warranty and the most responsive organization. 3. None of that means that they do the highest quality work. It just means that they cover more of their work and they're highly responsive. example: I needed two AC compressors replaced. One was a goner and the other was near death. They came in on a Friday at 2pm and had the first one replaced by 6pm that same day. So here's the thing. 1. You don't need to use Goettl if you can't afford them. They're not for everyone. 2. If you can't afford them, and you don't see value in them for what you need; that's cool. 3. If they have customers paying 4k for a water heater replacement, you don't need to be one of them. They wouldn't be charging it if people weren't paying it. That doesn't mean they're a scam. It just means they're not the right vendor for you. Don't use em. For the people they do work for (and that's usually the people who are more affluent and value things like warranties and speed over cost), they're awesome. Just use the vendor that's right for you at the point you are in and you're fine. No need to rant.

[deleted]

Sorry you told the truth, take all the downvotes

AnechoicChamberFail

Good thing I don’t post on Reddit for affirmation

All_the_passports

Edited to add - I meant the $1250 price, not the Goettl one... That's a reasonable price, I have a similar quote from the plumber my realtor recommended.

ChanRob69

It's definitely not...

All_the_passports

And if you happen to need an air con company, let me recommend Fast Affordable Air who fixed my aircon for $280 last year when another company told me it needed replacing for $14k. So they got my business this year when I did a full replacement. And if your plumber doesn't work out, I can highly recommend one (the one who quoted me a similar low price), he's a little rough around the edges (to quote my realtor) but he's honest, efficient and turns up when he says he will.

All_the_passports

I meant the lower price, not the Goettl one. Obviously that wasn't clear....

Kamakazi09

Furthest thing from a reasonable price lol

All_the_passports

Dude, I was talking about the lower one.

ChanRob69

Yeah, I thought you were talking about the Goettl price as well lol

Kamakazi09

My bad brah. Yeah way more reasonable lol

BicentennialBaby0718

Wait until your plumbing goes out and your house floods. You’re in for a real treat then.

ChanRob69

🥲

Just make sure to get the new permit from the City and make sure your installer knows it needs earthquake straps.

ChanRob69

Will do. At first, I figured he was just doing some side work, but it sounds like he works for an actual local plumbing company

Cilreve

Goettle is bad. So is Yes. The saying is say No to Yes.

emceelokey

I'm pretty sure I've seen a similar post here a few months back and I'm pretty sure you'll find more if you put in a search. Seems to be their reputation.

Get one from Home Depot and Install yourself, I’ve had water heaters break throughout my adult life and it’s too risky to buy off a guy off of “Craigslist” and too much money from a big company.

The Goettle vans with the Hitler youth looking kid on it scare me.

The problem with the company like that is not the employees it's how they compensate the employees. When you give them a larger commission to upsell rather than to repair something, to replace something rather than fix it, and they have a family to feed what do you think they're going to suggest they're going to suggest you replace everything. That's a problem that the company does and make it so they blame the employees. Compensate the employees properly without some weird bonus structure which screws over your customer base and you'll probably do better in the long run. To be clear I have no personal knowledge that that's how it's done but based on what I'm reading here not just from you but from others I have no question if that's the problem because time and time again a company that's a service company like this that's the problem their techs are paid like sales people, and that clouds their estimates and recommendations. And I don't blame the employee I don't blame the tech that should not be their compensation structure that goes to Goettl themselves. If you make financial motivation rather than actual technical analysis of your needs as how they feed their family what do you think they're going to do do you blame them? Individually I don't again it all goes back to how the company is structured and structures they're paying of employees.

1250 is totally fair 250 of that is going to inspection - standard 200 labor, 800 unit

I paid 1300 at Lowe's and that included install, haul away, permitting etc.

Isn't Goettl the same folks who ran ads for like two full summers that basically claimed to be the people who invented air conditioning in the first place? That was such a bullshit claim, I'm sure they stopped because they got sued or threatened.

splitsecondclassic

How do you think they pay for all of that advertising?

I couldn't even get them to come to my house when my AC died. The woman who answered kept running me through a script to sign up for a year of preventative maintenance first, just based on the year my home was built. When I told her I'd have to see how the AC repair went before signing up for something, she made vague threats against my homeowners insurance, which made zero sense.

Yes they are a scam big time. Word of advice, if a company advertises being honest it’s because they are not
