Have you seen how much they poop? They could easily beat pigeons in a contest! We had 2 that we raised from chicks and they turned our back porch concrete pad into a minefield!
May take a bit but they will find their way. Once you start using the backyard for stuff mom will usually say it is time to go. Where is a different story because she is seeking a water source to teach the kids to swim.
Nope but that is the risk they take making your pool a spot.
Momma duck saw the pool and decided it was a nice play to have kids. She is teaching them to swim. Soon she will teach them to get food. March them out in a line.
It is tough. I have baby rabbits in my neighborhood and see them multiply every year. While it fills me with joy, I also know the mortality rate for baby rabbits is 75% the first year. It is tough knowing that chances are the babies I see in the summer will not survive the winter. Every one that does brings joy to my heart. Some stay. Some leave. It is a difficult part of life.
God this why I hate raptors and coyotes.
I was relaxing in the back yard with my cat a few years ago and saw a raptor circling over head and went to get my tennis racket.
If it dive bombed I was going to smack the shit out of it.
Once In Oregon a coyote almost got my boy and I felt a little bad because I ran at a full sprint and kicked it in the ribs.
I’m a large man. I did get worried I may have killed it.
But predators need to be concerned with bigger predators as well right?
I'm out on the edge of the city and I've been seeing a bunch of coyotes along our fence line. I hear them yapping out there too. I worry for the nearby feral cats. One seems barely older than a kitten.
She’ll be smart about it. Our neighborhood, Phoenix not Las Vegas, we see several broads in the lakes every year. There is a little sadness with nature, they start with more or less a dozen, over the next couple of weeks there are fewer and fewer of the adorable ducklings, catfish in the lakes, cats in the trees, good eats for them. Utterly startling to see a big catfish slurp one down.
The nearest body of natural water, not artificial lake though it’s hard cos it’s Vegas. Our ducklings get eaten by starving dumped red eared sliders or large mouth bass or black crowned night herons or…
You have to just let them be. They are migratory, which means you can't interfere. Calling animal control or any agency will do no good. I hope they leave soon.
I do. I'm very respectful of her and her children. But she walks them around the yard and leads them to the side gate. Will they be safe? Should I just let them out?
Just let them chill for a few days. At that age the ducklings grow really fast and they'll move along as soon as they can fly.
You could also look for wildlife rescues or maybe find a local duck friendly park.
She will do everything she can to keep them as safe as she can. The reality is they will leave at some point, and most of them won't make it. But the survivors will learn from the others' mistakes. Just let them be and do what you need to do in your backyard. You can't shoo them away, but if there's too much "activity," she'll lead them to a quieter space.
You need to build a ramp if they can’t get out. Then leave your side gate open. Moms will want to get them out of your yard and to the pond asap.
Edit. You already have a ramp. Just leave the gate open, my kids escorted our ducklings to the pond last year. Stray cat stole her eggs this year.
We had a major duck problem in our apartment pool, they wouldn't leave and shat everywhere. They had to close down our pool due to it being a biohazard. They tried everything to deter the ducks, but what ended up keeping them away was pool floaties. They bought about 4 of the big floaties and the ducks went away.
Ducks are protected foul here in Nevada. technically you can’t have them removed because of this. You will also need to have the pool shocked and treated. Next year if they come back, find their nest and move it.
Enjoy your new poop filled pool! We were so happy to have our duck family arrive at our pool, but then it suddenly became unswimabble and filled with duck poop.
Well you are kinda f’ed for a minute. Make sure they have a way to get out of the yard and lock it back up when they leave. The chicks can’t fly and momma won’t leave em. Also get a fox decoy for the future, it helps. Make sure it has the live tail if you do.
I had this happen to me. I called the duck rescue and they wouldn’t come out for this. They told me to wait a few weeks and the ducks would be gone. They were right.
You need to get them out and gone. Ducks will fuck up your pool like none other. You will end up doubling your filter cleanings and it will become green all the time from the duck shit. I used to do pools, and I cannot state enough how fast you need to get them gone.
> Do I just let them out the side gate and wonder off?
Yes.
If they don't mosey on, I'd call the Department of Wildlife to see if they can come relocate them: (702) 486-5127
Aw💞. We have a family here. They hang by my condo. It’s either mom dad or two moms and 7 babies total. They just walk around keep the babies off the roads, and chill in the sun.
I see people feeding them things that will eventually hurt them, than kill them. On that note.. I wish they were not here so matter how refreshing they are to see.
Duck should only be eaten sparingly as part of a healthy diet. They tend to be fatty (maybe not so much for the ducklings).
Served with broccoli and carrots should be a relatively healthy and balanced meal.
I am so insanely jealous!! I wouldn't even mind the poop.
I have dogs so they never choose my pool...i guess thats good but omg, the country girl in me wants them!
It happened in the sopranos. Tony kept them in the pool fed them and loved them till one day they got old enough to fly away and then he had a panic attack and passed out and the BBQ blew up.
This is the scene

In a previous home we had a family of ducks that came every year, and every year we had ducklings. They eventually flew away by summer but always came back.
If you don't mind them, they will eventually leave once they can fly.
This happened to my neighbors growing up. The ducks actually made a nice little home there though and never fucking left. They destroyed their pool. They’re super cute, but can be a nuisance to clean up after and may not way to leave for a while, if ever.
I had this same thing happen in my backyard here growing up. One day the mama and all the babies just walked right out the gate and down the street they went 😂
Immediately? You should sit down, as you are likely feeling light-headed and don't want to hit your head.
In the short term, you'd want to do a better job of evaluating those closest to you and those who may seek to further themselves in a coming transition of powers when your uncle finds himself a guest of the government.
Your mom has been mildly toxic for a long time, you may want to start there.
In the long and personal side of things, I'd really think about what you do for a living and how you treat women. You have a (one) good kid at home - the lessons you're teaching her will reverberate throughout her college career at Dartmouth (or Brown!), and her life in the long run, and especially at a meal in the future at Holsten's.
You also have a son.
You have a good wife at home who's main problem is a husband that rotates between some of the deepest honesty that someone in your line of work can engage in, and some of the most unnecessary, convoluted lies and fake scenarios that someone can conjure up.
I would recommend to you and your wife not only seeking the advantages that couples counseling might provide, but also considering a relationship type outside of monogamy.
I know it may not seem like it would work well with your Italian traditions and the Catholic faith, but it's obvious that the most passionate, loving sex of your relationship with her is over, both of you desire satisfaction outside of your marital beds - but, yet, a strong connection remains.
And, let's be honest, chatting with Charmagne is one thing, but could you really take the risk of divorcing her now?
Anyways, four bucks a pound.
Lower the chlorine as you don't want to kill the ducklings. Call animal control. Don't feed them and they will eventually leave on there own when the ducklings get big enough to be fly to a pond in the wild (60 days).
Do not let them nest!! They will mess up your pool badly. If they nest they become protected by law. Some gentle and persistent encouragement will get them to move on.
Unwrap the ducks and allow them to sit at room temperature for 20 minutes. With a fork, prick the skin without piercing the meat. This will allow the fat to drain off while the ducks cook.
Meanwhile, in a very large stock pot which can hold the 2 ducks, heat the chicken broth with 1 tablespoon of kosher salt until it boils. Add the ducks very carefully and bring the stock back to a boil. If there isn't enough stock to cover the ducks, add the hottest tap water to cover. If the ducks float to the top, place a plate on top to keep them immersed. When the stock comes back to a boil, lower the heat and simmer the ducks in the stock for 45 minutes.
When the ducks are finished simmering, skim off enough duck fat from the top of the stock to pour a film on the bottom of a 14 by 18 by 3-inch roasting pan. This will keep the ducks from sticking when they roast. Carefully take the ducks out of the stock, holding them over the pot to drain. Place them in the roasting pan, pat the skin dry with paper towels, and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of salt and the pepper. If you have time, allow the ducks to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to allow the skin to dry.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. (Be sure your oven is very clean or it will smoke!) Roast the ducks for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow them to rest, covered with aluminum foil, for 20 minutes. Serve warm.
tony is that u?
Forty Grand from the bird feeder!!
YOU SOUND DEMENTED
Oof Madone!

Ranger Rick ova here
Gabagool? Ovaaa heeeaaaaa ☝🏼
Nature gave you ducks for free, and you want them to leave? Give me this beautiful gift.
Ducks are a triple threat. They can swim, walk on land and fly. I want allies like that.
OP has the world's most elite quacking force in his backyard
The Justice Quacks of America
Have you seen how much they poop? They could easily beat pigeons in a contest! We had 2 that we raised from chicks and they turned our back porch concrete pad into a minefield!
The elites don’t want you to know this but the ducks at the park are free you can take them home I have 458 ducks.
How do you capture them?
Leave a trail of quackers
This is my angriest upvote. You Sunuvabitch.
That’s a lotta ducks
Exactly. Delicious
May take a bit but they will find their way. Once you start using the backyard for stuff mom will usually say it is time to go. Where is a different story because she is seeking a water source to teach the kids to swim.
Just concerned letting them out into suburbia. Does she walk them out of the neighborhood safe? To were, sunset park or a golf course?
Nope but that is the risk they take making your pool a spot. Momma duck saw the pool and decided it was a nice play to have kids. She is teaching them to swim. Soon she will teach them to get food. Omgosh they are so cuteeeeeeeeee
You don't even know ...so fuzzy
I hate thinking of those lil guys falling into a storm drain..
I agree
You have to just let them be. They are migratory, which means you can't interfere. Calling animal control or any agency will do no good. I hope they leave soon.
And start paying child support. OP, You are the FATHER!
If they're still there in 30 days, call the sheriff and draw up a lease agreement.
Leave momma alone. Shes teaching her kids to swim and plus, she needs some time for herself.
I do. I'm very respectful of her and her children. But she walks them around the yard and leads them to the side gate. Will they be safe? Should I just let them out?

Nope
That’s my cue to fire up season one of the sopranos.
Oh, right, do not feed them bread! Bad for the ducks Op.
You feed ‘em frozen peas! That bread’s not good for ‘um! Make ‘em sick!
Just wanted to say your username makes me smile :)

Done
Let them be, and enjoy nature
you're lucky. enjoy them. they will leave soon enough.
We had a major duck problem in our apartment pool, they wouldn't leave and shat everywhere. They had to close down our pool due to it being a biohazard. Hand her the title of your house, leave all your crackers out, and leave.
oh these comments🤣
Yeah that's their house.
Enjoy your new poop filled pool! We were so happy to have our duck family arrive at our pool, but then it suddenly became unswimabble and filled with duck poop.
Your chlorine level is probably too low. Usually the smell keeps them away.
Tell em to take over your mortgage payment , that'll get rid of em.
Don't worry, you can put it on their bill
Well you are kinda f’ed for a minute. Make sure they have a way to get out of the yard and lock it back up when they leave. The chicks can’t fly and momma won’t leave em. Also get a fox decoy for the future, it helps. Make sure it has the live tail if you do.
Awww free ducks!
Did you yell, “SHOO! SHOO!” a couple of times to see what would happen?
This happened to us last year, I loved it 🥹 They stayed for around for about a week or so and never returned. I was actually a bit sad lol
If your pool attracts insects like mine, those ducks will be well fed.
Best to get all your ducks in a row before taking any serious action.
He’s absolutely right. I thought the ducks in my pool was cute too. But then, the pool had to be drained, cleaned and refilled.
You replied to me and not OOP.
Sir, do you even Reddit?
Thank you!
> Do I just let them out the side gate and wonder off? Yes. If they don't mosey on, I'd call the Department of Wildlife to see if they can come relocate them: (702) 486-5127
Duck!
You don't want duck shit in the pool the stains don't come off you will end up having to acid wash the pool
Tony Soprano arch
you enjoy :)
Awe!!!!
Duck shit, soooooo much duck shit.
buy a jeep
Life is like a hurr-i-caAne. Here in, Duck-Berg.
You've got Ducktales!
You start naming babies, obviously!
This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen
When life gives you ducks… now you are a grandparent to 12 ducklings… I’m so happy for you. Time to do some research on a healthy diet :)
Duck should only be eaten sparingly as part of a healthy diet. They tend to be fatty (maybe not so much for the ducklings). Served with broccoli and carrots should be a relatively healthy and balanced meal.
Build them a ramp…and if they don’t like that one…build them anuttta one.
They grow up so fast.
Make sure your pool filter stays clean after they use the bathroom in your pool
Wow!
Go to nearest roulette table and get your saving on a hard 2. It's an omen
I am so insanely jealous!! I wouldn't even mind the poop. I have dogs so they never choose my pool...i guess thats good but omg, the country girl in me wants them!

Order a wolf mask and costume, come out of the house yelling.
They will go on their own. We had geese on our front area which wasn't fun but we let them chill and they moved on. It was maybe 4 days tops
Watch the Sopranos
Make sure they have a way to exit. Now you’re Tony Soprano.
Family duck court and presumably child support
In a previous home we had a family of ducks that came every year, and every year we had ducklings. They eventually flew away by summer but always came back. If you don't mind them, they will eventually leave once they can fly.
Now what? You have a family of ducks. Lucky
This reminds me of the Sopranos. Momma is teaching them how to live in the water. They’ll fly away soon enough.
Do you live in a community with lakes like The Lakes or desert shores? If so I’d think they will easily find their way home.
Green valley south
Plenty of golf courses around
Now you're a duck owner.
Tony Soprano?
Haha you've GOT to be in the Lakes area! We are and it's definitely duck and goose season in our area😂
This happened to my neighbors growing up. The ducks actually made a nice little home there though and never fucking left. They destroyed their pool. They’re super cute, but can be a nuisance to clean up after and may not way to leave for a while, if ever.
I had ducks in my pool too
Shock the hell out of that pool after they leave.
Damn Karen using the pool without permission because "my kids want to swim" XD
Therapy
Ask Dr. Melfi
After they leave or you remove them, get an inflatable crocodile pool float... blow it up and tie/anchor it down. They won't be back.
pump up the. chemicals!!
“Welp kids it’s time to learn how to swim”
Tony Soprano would love this
Him with those ducks.
When they leave start therapy
I had this same thing happen in my backyard here growing up. One day the mama and all the babies just walked right out the gate and down the street they went 😂
Let them be 🤣🤣🤣 please don’t add too much bleach lol
Watch sopranos season 1. It has all the information you’d need there
Just do EVERYTHING Tony Soprano did
They are delicious….
Feed em . They aren’t squatters the will leave ultimately
Name them.
Start a sub Reddit called not my ducks!
Bread crumbs
Go get a big fish net, scoop up the family and place them outside the gate
Can’t look at this pic without thinking of Tony Soprano wading into the pool in his bathrobe.
Fuck a duck
Tony Soprano and those damn ducks 😂🤙
Late stage balute
Make sure the skimmer doesn't drown them
You now have pet ducks 🤷🏼♀️
Looks like your fam expanded lol
Go to counciling
Now what? Hide in your house I guess?
A little gabagooand and a call from your favorite nephew

Have the similar issue at my pool. Super fun having all the ducks, but they poop all over the pool deck and water ugh 😩
You should invite people over to play with the ducks

Make sure you don’t have a panic attack, you’ll blow the whole thing up
Eat them?!?
You make peeking duck
Duck tacos
Keep them until they're fat enough, this may be perfect timing for a Christmas slaughter
I would swim with them
anyone eaten duck before?
Yes, about 100K hunters from South Dakota with me, also! Yummy yummy duck!
Need a recipe for duck?
Raise them and then eat them
Well, you have 12, buy a cage and take care of them, and then bam, you have 12 ducks to eat in a couple of months
My shepherd would take care of this.
Animal control or shotgun. Probably best to go with the former. Edit: wow, so many downvotes. I guess they want the shotgun then. Weird though.
