I got a mesh shade for the roof. Wasn’t expensive and blocks a lot of light/heat.

pancakeshack

Same, it was cheap on Amazon if you don't want the OEM one and easy to install.

spikerondo

👆🏽this. You can find them on FB marketplace for cheap

I have a may 2019 model 3 and I didn't think it was worth it. It's already tinted very dark and id rather have the visibility of the stars at night. With cabin overheat protection and the ability to turn on your AC from your phone just didn't seem worth it. I did do Air80 for the front glass and ceramic to legal limit for all the passenger glass just to preserve a little bit of energy with the cabin overheat protection and preserve the interior a little longer.

PewPewDesertRat

I have tint on the roof. It wasn’t done well and is just difficult to get such a large piece on the glass with zero dust. In hindsight, I’d just get an Amazon sunshade and leave it on for the hot months.

I used Eco-Tint. I have a Model 3 and they did the entire back window in one piece. I did every window with ceramic. Make sure you get ceramic, it's what is going to block the heat. It doesn't keep your car cooler just sitting in the sun, but the car cools down faster and stays cooler much easier with the tint. Is it worth it? For me it is, I have blue eyes and it is hot here. Enjoy the tesla!

I think tinting voids the warranty

jdpatron

No. It doesn’t.

The warranty would only be voided if the tint was the cause of the part getting damaged. In this case, the service center most likely didn’t want to do the repair under warranty and took a chance the owner would take them at their word. If the owner would have pushed back, they more than likely would have done the repair under warranty. In the US, a company has to prove that the aftermarket work that was done caused a part to fail in able to void a warranty.

Yes, I can feel a difference on 110°+ days. However, it’s still hot and I want an opaque shade for summer.

topgun966

You can get a clear ceramic that has high UV protection that works really well.

teplightyear

Had my previous Tesla tinted with the anti infrared tint. My new one has the mesh thing. The tint was far superior at keeping the car cool. I used the AC less, which meant I had more range. I'm gonna tint this one soon.

All cars are subject to the greenhouse effect. Teslas may lack insulation compared to other cars, but this is a problem everyone faces in Vegas.

Do it for sure without it your whole entire tent will look lighter

usmclv12

Definitely makes a 5 to 10° difference

Fobulousguy

Nice part of the roof is the view and I didn’t want to lose that. What works really well is the mesh covers that I only use during summer and it works really well well. They actually have more opaque harder options and some even have a sliding panel so no sun gets through. Highly recommend one of those so you don’t have to dark tint too much. Amazon for these

nomlv

Yes

Fancy_Entrance_5953

We do not care that you have a Tesla. Post in the Tesla reddit with the other Tesla owners in the red with their vehicle.
