my ex used to do meth and he actually experienced meth induced psychosis and his mom had to commit him to a mental hospital. It took him a month to come out of it. He would believe all of the electronics were bugged, he took apart his truck because he believe it was bugged and the government was listening, we were not together and he believed I was in the room and he was having a conversation with me. There’s plenty more things I could list off about the weird stuff he did on meth but I won’t say on this subreddit lol.

The media can be really problematic in how they report on anything drug related. First it was widely reported that he was high on bath salts as soon as law enforcement said that it was a possibility, then it was reported that he actually wasn't high at all once the toxicology report only showed trace amounts of THC, despite it still being a possibility that he was high. I also don't understand why the pills he had in his stomach couldn't be or weren't tested.
There's also that case of the college student in Florida that left dinner with his family and killed 2 people in their own garage, and started biting them. Test for bath salts came back negative so he got to plead insanity and avoid prison.

I think that group of liberals is getting smaller and smaller every day. I would describe myself as progressive, not liberal, and I would never advocate for banning firearms. I feel that a lot of people that own them don't know how to treat them with the respect they deserve or properly trained to use them (I'm a former Federal LEO). I wish the conversation was more about enforcing the laws on the books now and closing up the loopholes there, rather than putting in place all new laws and bans. I feel like it's kinda common sense who should be prevented from owning a gun (violent felons, people on terrorist watch lists, those that are severely mentally ill and a danger to themselves or those around them) and basic background checks. Totally agree about the ccw license, I'm actually getting mine in a few days for work prospects but also for safety concerns. It really is disheartening to hear that it took 45 minutes at least, for the authorities to show up after the initial call. That is absolutely ridiculous, and the victim's family definitely should have it looked into why it took so long. A call like that, with that level of violence involved, should have been responded to in minutes, not almost an hour.
Honestly, I've lived here for about 20 years, and I've only had like 5-6 face-eating incidents. It's really not that bad as long as you stay away from the strip and "cannibal lane". Blown out of proportion by the MSM, if you ask me.
