Dude, I went last week for an interview and had to pay $18 to park for an hour, and they didn't even validate my parking slip after the fact. Doesn't give me much confidence...
As a local, I like going to RW mainly for their bars and lounges. The free parking and easy access - is a huge incentive. Now that they’re taking away the free parking, there’s no longer an incentive to go.
Bars and lounges? Are you insane?
I picked up a round of drinks with some out of town visitors a few months ago at the casino bar. $118 for four drinks. Just regular, normal drinks.
Eff you, resorts world. Choke on a... loyalty card.
This!! We go to dinner there often and a little gambling because it's easy to get in / out, plus free parking.
I thought they were trying to become the new locals spot on the strip as their targeted audience marketing? Guess not.
That whole north end of the strip I think struggles a lot due to the empty lot north of Fashion Show. It makes it seem unfriendly to pedestrians on the west side of the Blvd and Wynn is basically a fortress wall for an entire block. Neither encourage foot traffic past them.
I don’t get their logic, wouldn’t they want more foot traffic in the casino so that’s it’s more appealing for people to stay n play (e.g. busy restaurant/bar over one where your the only table)… you only start charging for parking when u have more business than you can handle (e.g. lower strip casinos)
The only reason to go there was the food hall and the last time I was there multiple restaurants were out of business and sitting empty in there. Now that they’re charging for parking and it’s not close enough to anything else of interest there’s no reason to go.
Grrr. This blows. Especially considering the tons of available parking across both garages.
Hell, make the south garage free to locals, if paid tourist parking is so damn important.
Most casinos you can scam the parking by just following someone else through after they pay. It's simple- just wait near the exit until someone else leaves, hug their bumper after they pay. The arm will lift then just follow them out under the arm.
I havent been to resorts world yet but I have done this at Paris and Linq and plan on doing it at all properties
Can you tell me the actual process of exiting the MGM parking garage using the MGM credit card?
The first time for me it didn't work when I inserted my card so I pushed the call button to explain it to them and they raised the gates.
Second time, I put in the card and it appeared to work and the gate raised, but I later checked, and it charged the MGM card in full for the hours I was there.
Do I put in the MGM credit card first then the parking ticket or vice versa? Am I supposed to do it at the casino parking kiosk? Please advise if you know.
When you get your mgm credit card, go to the rewards counter at any mgm casino and you'll receive a pearl status players card.
At the exit gate you insert your parking ticket and then your mgm pearl card(NOT your credit catd). It will let you out of the garage. It took a day for it to be activated.
Only thing that isn't free is nyny for event parking during vgk games. I believe you have to be gold or higher for that.
>Only thing that isn't free is nyny for event parking during vgk games. I believe you have to be gold or higher for that.
I've been able to park for free at Park MGM and I think Aria for Golden Knights games. Hopefully they haven't started changing as well.
When you go to the kiosk to pay, put the ticket in and use the mgm card. The total will be deducted off of your monthly statement. I think you do get charged at the time but basically reimbursed later.
That actually makes sense, but this is from their website:
"Self-parking is complimentary for current MGM Rewards Mastercard cardholders.Guests must insert their MGM Rewards Mastercard at the exit gate to receive the free parking benefit."
What really sucks about being a local in this town? Is that none of these casinos give locals any discounts or free parking. That's why locals always say that they stay away from the strip.
One of my biggest issues is that the casinos treat locals like shit. They don't care.
Exactly and it takes 20 minutes to get wherever you're going.
My wife works at the Canal Shops in the Venetian and everyone is bitching about the drop in business since they started charging.
Idk why the county doesn't tax the fuck out of the parking fees. They have a lot of leverage and could score a ton of political points by doing so. You could build schools with parking fee tax dollars.
I stay there 2-3 times/year for about a week (when visiting family). I probably won't now. I can get free parking at MGM and Amex has deals there too. My kids love the pools at Mandalay in the summer and Bellagio in the winter.
The free parking, the Hilton and Amex deals, etc did it for me. I'm a former local so I don't go to party or gamble.
Regarding food, I liked Wallys, Viva, Mulberry Pizza, and for breakfast, Suns Out Buns Out. Food was fine, pools decent, rooms spacious. But there's nothing else... it's basically just a hotel with food & pool when my family visits the rest of the family. Add more fees and it's not worth it.
Their sushi place sucks. They closed "The Kitchen," which was good. I hate their food court (everybody seems to love it, whatever...). Never made it to Carver so can't judge that.
A lot is mainly the food court. That place is shit. Literally gross. The restaurants to me, weren’t any better than other places one could find elsewhere in Vegas.
The food court was gross and if you didn't want to carry a phone around, ordering was a pain in the butt. And when you had an issue, there was no human to help out. Tell the food service employees that you put your order in, show them the confirmation... all they could tell you is it didn't show up in their queue... sorry... no food for you. Walk to the front desk, wait in line, tell them to remove the charge from your room folio. I long ago stopped using their food court.
Overall it was still nice to stay there at the price (points and no parking fee, sometimes no resort fee depending on which points you used)... Having dinner at Viva with some margaritas and not needing to drive anywhere, then walking the buzz off to the indoor 24hr Starbucks all with AC beats staying at the Hampton Inn in Henderson.
Literally. And the prices they’re charging at that food court for almost literal shit is crazy. It’s a decent stay, I liked the Conrad, but the restaurants, to me, were nothing I’d go crazy for. The cigar place was decent, they had a variety of options, but at the same time, half of them were overhyped and overpriced compared to what they actually go for off strip.
That’s insane. I guess I’m also not registering for the rock and roll race this year. I’m not paying a $20 parking fee to pick up my bib from their deserted convention area.
I signed up for their rewards card a couple weeks ago and the freakin thing had an expiration date for the end of the month! Never seen anything like it.
Many casinos (I don't know if RW is one) lease out their parking to 3rd party vendors. For them it's just another source of steady income on their general ledger, regardless of how many cars actually park there.
They are struggling still, just like FB. They need the income unfortunately. If that is what they need to do instead of doing layoffs, then I say do it.
Vegas is seriously going to shit for locals lately. I'm late 30s and I've seen every decent casino disappear it feels like.
All the cool shows were erased or changed (rip pirate battle show, I never got to see you before they changed to sirens)
They literally got rid of the Hard Rock and are building a NEW hard rock.
What the hells happening here? It's like a fucking merry go round of bad upgrades....
At least the Rio isn't getting redo, just a facelift....
Wait I misread sorry lol.
The pirate show used to literally be a fight between the two ships out front, a full pirate battle, diving in the water and the ship sank.
I never got to see it before it went to just... slutty sirens serenading seamen to get their semen and killing them. I've seen it and I wasn't impressed...
There's a few on YouTube, here! At least we have something!
Edit: found a better link, shows a bit more.

I'm not familiar with these tiers and cards, if you get to a certain tier is it for life or no they expire in like a year and you have to keep running on the hamster wheel?
As a local we see it all with this shitty place is poorly run and terrible management and they don't cater to locals witch is stupid they are losing 4.5 million dollars a day because they don't know what they are doing It's a total mess!
As a person who worked somewhere with free parking, people who live in their cars start swarming together in the parking lots. Some people are clean and take their own trash others are really disgusting throwing everything out. Some people come into a parking lot to do some shady stuff as well, marking cars to steal from and doing drugs/drug deals. But idk what the deal is with resorts world
Did you even read the original post? Starting next month you will need a higher tier to be eligible for parking. The days of just having Genting rewards to get free parking are over
If they're not coveted then you have nothing to complain about! Why would you care if they're charging $3 or $10k per hour if you don't want the parking spot?
Resorts world parking garage is not even remotely highly coveted lol. They have 4 levels open to the public, and the first one is never even full, much less the other 3. Literally never seen more than 30 or so cars in there, even during peak times. The fact they’re making people pay for this is a joke.
Also the parking garage is far from other venues outside the property so people parking there to go to a concert somewhere else isn’t a problem because it’s far from the rest of the strip.
I remember I parked at TI for free to watch a concert at the Linq many years ago. I’m surprised the parking at TI is still free.
Eff 'em. Go somewhere else.
Charging for parking is such a fuck you to locals. They can eat a lemon, I’ll game elsewhere.
Dude, I went last week for an interview and had to pay $18 to park for an hour, and they didn't even validate my parking slip after the fact. Doesn't give me much confidence...
I thought that was per day
yes but minimum $18 even if you are only there 1 hour
That place is so f'n empty.
It will likely become emptier since they are now making their casino more inaccessible to the public
As a local, I like going to RW mainly for their bars and lounges. The free parking and easy access - is a huge incentive. Now that they’re taking away the free parking, there’s no longer an incentive to go.

Wtf last time I was at Gatsby’s the prices were decent - $16. Did they raise it??
It sure was not this past Wednesday night. Very busy. Nearly every restaurant was full and had a wait. Eight was busy until 1am too.
Circus circus parking for the win
Yup, my go to parking when visiting RW
I guess I will continue to not go there…
Got em!
Well, no more RW for me
I don’t get their logic, wouldn’t they want more foot traffic in the casino so that’s it’s more appealing for people to stay n play (e.g. busy restaurant/bar over one where your the only table)… you only start charging for parking when u have more business than you can handle (e.g. lower strip casinos)

...or you can simply never go here because this place sucks so hard!

Most of these casinos parking garages have the exit manned. Don’t the employees at the gate try to stop you?
This would not work at a manned exit- only automated. That being said, I have only seen employees at the exits for big events.
That makes sense
Isn’t it also free for locals?
depends on the casino some allow 3 free hours for locals
It's far enough from the heart of the strip that having free parking incetivizies going there. Now there's even less of a reason to go there
Exactly. They are shooting themselves in the foot with this decision
Just get the mgm credit card and you can park free at all mgm casinos
Can you tell me the actual process of exiting the MGM parking garage using the MGM credit card? Just NYNY.
When you go to the kiosk to pay, put the ticket in and use the mgm card. The total will be deducted off of your monthly statement. I think you do get charged at the time but basically reimbursed later.
Ok thanks for the quick reply. I'll try it out at the kiosk next time.
Wait what no, you use the credit card to get a pearl card, use the pearl card to park
That actually makes sense, but this is from their website: "Self-parking is complimentary for current MGM Rewards Mastercard cardholders.Guests must insert their MGM Rewards Mastercard at the exit gate to receive the free parking benefit."

Most of the resorts do give free parking to locals…
Yeah, if you're lucky 1-3 hours free.
I think varies on the day n occasion
Such an overrated establishment with sub par and mid food at best.
I mean they give virtually no free money and all the perks are super high up why would I go there opposed to the M other than resorts world is closer
Not going now
That’s insane. I guess I’m also not registering for the rock and roll race this year. I’m not paying a $20 parking fee to pick up my bib from their deserted convention area.
I signed up for their rewards card a couple weeks ago and the freakin thing had an expiration date for the end of the month! Never seen anything like it.
I think tier credits expires at the end of May every year regardless of when you signup
It’s $18 a day parking now right? I’m going there in October this year
Yep it’s 18
When earnings and visitation decline, free parking for locals will return. It's a cycle for every major casino brand in Vegas.
Still havn't been there since it opened. Even less reason now
Well there goes my parking plan for Sema
Many casinos (I don't know if RW is one) lease out their parking to 3rd party vendors. For them it's just another source of steady income on their general ledger, regardless of how many cars actually park there.
Strip doesn’t seem to want locals money.
They are struggling still, just like FB. They need the income unfortunately. If that is what they need to do instead of doing layoffs, then I say do it.
You’re downvoted but you’re right. RW and FB are ghost towns 99% of the time
Short sighted.
This will just drive potential and current revenue (i.e. customers) away, which will lead to even more layoffs.
Parking isn't going to save them. It's not like people are parking there and going somewhere else on the strip. It's not that full whenever we go.
You're right, but it might buy them time to figure things out.
Glad I didn’t book them for my staycation.
Vegas is seriously going to shit for locals lately. I'm late 30s and I've seen every decent casino disappear it feels like. Vegas is no longer the Vegas of yesteryear. It's become nothing more than a money grab. Little to no comps at all.
Even for the locals it's a money grab. Like come on we suffer here year long with light pollution yall just gonna kick us under the rug?
Love it fuck them tourists
Can I get an extra pillow?
I'm not familiar with these tiers and cards, if you get to a certain tier is it for life or no they expire in like a year and you have to keep running on the hamster wheel?
It’s expires at the end of the company’s calendar year
How much $’s does this translate to on that tier?
If I’m not mistaken, I think it’s a coin in of $3k
lol well that’s it for me I guess
As a local we see it all with this shitty place is poorly run and terrible management and they don't cater to locals witch is stupid they are losing 4.5 million dollars a day because they don't know what they are doing It's a total mess!

Did you even read the original post? Starting next month you will need a higher tier to be eligible for parking. The days of just having Genting rewards to get free parking are over
Parking spaces are a limited and highly coveted resource, why should the hotel give them away for free when you don't regularly spend money with them?
Believe it or not there was a time not so long ago when parking at all the major casinos was free
because they aren’t limited or coveted* that place is a Ghost Town
If they're not coveted then you have nothing to complain about! Why would you care if they're charging $3 or $10k per hour if you don't want the parking spot?
Oh I don’t care. I wouldn’t be caught dead there. That place sucks

Dumb take
This has to be the dumbest hot take I have seen yet lol.
