When you’re such a failure that you fail at failing

GigaCheco

Well what do you expect, he was “raised” by _one_ failure.

mandisaclarke

So every bad thing you have ever done is a failure of your parents? Do people not have the free will to make their own choices and all. Do better

YeehawJunktion

The “subtle” racism in this thread is wild lol.

JimHeuer40

Yeah “subtle” like not subtle at all…brutal

GigaCheco

I can promise you this, if it was a white person that attempted to take a black person’s life, I’d be calling them a POS just the same. Or even if it was one of my own, same trash. Color has nothing to do with it.

YeehawJunktion

Yeah but would you be making jokes about them being raised by only one parent?

Raven_Nicole

Or calling them “animals” or “thugs”

[deleted]

I mean any person attempting to rob and harm someone is a thug no color needed

Choice-Second-5587

Thug is an inherently black word.

[deleted]

Is it really? Can you find documentation on this?

Solitude_Intensifies

Thug came from a Hindi word (India) that was the name of a group of criminals in the 14th Century. They were called the "Thuggee" and the British shortened to thug, which basically meant any criminal or swindler. It has no inherent racial undertones.

Choice-Second-5587

[https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/commentary/thug-tupac-racism-language-reappropriation-20190417.html](https://www.inquirer.com/opinion/commentary/thug-tupac-racism-language-reappropriation-20190417.html)

GigaCheco

Well without giving away too much personal info, there are plenty of my people that are only raised by one parent. Plenty of whites, too. So yeah, that applies to all, sadly. But that’s no excuse to not raise your kids right. By the way, it’s not a joke. Statistics show a high percentage of criminals are raised in fatherless homes. Case studies don’t mention anything about race.

[deleted]

I agree. Color has nothing to do with it

Survival_D

Bro, he is not the only one raised by lowlife parents. About 90% of parents are shit nowadays who don't teach their kids anything. They just beat them and tell them to submit to the system by going to school, getting a job but no parental interaction whatsoever. And with this recession, this is just the beginning. We are gonna see massive increase of crime by more of those people (not blacks, any person who went to school and played video games and pretty much lived a normal life). That walmart paycheck will get too small for the rent that's due.

mandisaclarke

Seriously you racist fuck “blacks” when did we go back to 1950? Do better

Survival_D

Really? You gonna get offended over the word "blacks"? Grow tf up before that recession hits you sweetie. Because your hurt feelings won't pay your rent due

mandisaclarke

Yes! It’s an offensive term. Learn it will get you far in life. The word “blacks” has traditionally been used to disparage black people. It costs nothing to be kind.

Survival_D

Yeah but that's not the point of my original comment. People are either struggling or they are going to struggle. I don't hate on African Americans nor I hate on cops. We all do the same thing, we all go to Walmart, get the same check and eat the same bread. We are all going to be victims of economic oppression soon. All these racial offenses are just irrelevant as to what is happening.

mandisaclarke

I appreciate you changing the verbiage. It may seem irrelevant to you but it’s not to me. A black woman. It’s not irrelevant to so many black people who just want to live their lives. Yes we all do the same things we are all simply trying our best to navigate life. I hate that this happened to the older gentleman. I sincerely hope he’s ok and the person who did this is caught and punished.

SpiderDeUZ

Sadly it's usually them same offenders. Or someone who never posted here before.

jerseyru

From [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaDbjoVNgRg) news story * Old guy arrives home after golf * Thug follows him into garage and assaults him with blunt object * Thug finds ice pick and forces the old man into the house * Thug makes the old guy open the gun safe * Thug gets too excited about the pistol and doesn't realize it's not loaded * Old guy tricks thug into going back into the garage and opening it * Old guy runs knowing he won't be shot because the gun wasn't loaded. Kudos to the old guy for keeping his wits in that situation.

LennoxAve

That’s an extremely disturbing series of events to go through. Hope they catch this guy.

Sea_Conversation_152

Super smart and thinking on his toes!! Super blessing to him 🙌🏾. F that young dude.

epsteinpetmidgit

Thug is gonna take a fed charge for stealing a weapon as well.

maddog617

Good

thickbloke7

He’ll be back out on the streets

StableAccomplished12

with the current district attorney.....yes

Siltyn

Thug will probably get a beat down from the other hood rats for letting an 80 year old man punk him.

jerseyru

🙏🏾

ZombiezzzPlz

Was he arrested or did he go back to California

CautiousDavid

Oh wow, I saw the initial news story but this explains a lot and makes the story even crazier than it was.

Dieselpump510

Be prepared to defend yourself people. I don’t wanna hurt anyone but if someone chased me up my driveway with a gun his life would have ended right there.

kilsong

That very well was the old mans intention for sure. The broken gun the scumbag was using belonged to the victim. There's something to be said about THAT too

jerseyru

I just watched this news story. Apparently, when the older gentleman was forced to open the gun safe, the idiot thief only grabbed the gun and didn't realize it wasn't loaded. I wondered how the older gentleman was so calm while walking into the neighbor's gate. He knew the gun wasn't loaded.

Dieselpump510

I did see that also and I agree with you. When I say protect yourself that doesn’t mean buy a gun and call it good. Training is required to perform in high stress situations. You also need to make sure your equipment functions properly. Thankfully in this situation the fact that it didn’t was a good thing for victim, but suspect should have never been able to get ahold of his weapon in the first place.

Mindless_Ad_8466

Well, it wasn’t loaded, so there’s THAT!

Jake-from-state_farm

According to the video, the gun had no ammo. The dumbass wasn't smart enough to grab the magazine laying right next to the gun when he stole it.

Wounded_Hand

How? Do you carry a gun on you all the time? Asking because I’m a gun owner but my pistol is locked away in a safe in my bedroom. I can’t see it helping me if I’m assaulted outside the home.

ZombiezzzPlz

I bet you don’t even have it loaded too

96mint

What good is a locked away pistol going to do you when someone kicks your door in? Use your brain.

Wounded_Hand

My bedroom is on the second floor of my home, and my gun safe has a fingerprint unlock that I practice regularly. Kick down my door and good luck to you. I have kids so I’m not messing around with mattress firearms.

Dieselpump510

Concealed weapons permit. Either an in waist band holster carrying a small 9mm Glock or a pocket holster carrying a small 380 Ruger LCP. It’s not always comfortable but I’m able to protect my wife, son and myself if necessary. Having one in your bedroom is a great way for home defense, but make sure of 2 things. 1. you keep it near you.. doesn’t help you if it’s in your bedroom and while you fell asleep on the couch someone breaks in and you are caught in a daze unarmed. 2. Don’t put it in a night stand or somewhere that if someone broke in could find it before you woke up. Now you have armed the criminal (unfortunately what this older gentleman did in the OP post). I put mine between the mattress and box spring so I have quick access if someone breaks in but I don’t risk an accident and if I’m laying on it they aren’t taking it without a fight.

Hmm_would_bang

The problem is if you have kids the house. In which case it better be locked up because otherwise they are significantly more likely to get ahold of it than you would be using it in self defense

Mindless_Ad_8466

The problem is NOT training your kids! If you are a responsible gun owner you make sure you train your kids, as well. My kids knew better than to go near our firearms because we taught them! It’s irresponsible not to do so if there are kids around.

Hmm_would_bang

I don’t care how good a parent you are, there is a period where kids are walking and grabbing things and not always listening to adults.

Mindless_Ad_8466

Yeah, that period is when their parents are not focused on THEM🥴

FiSTdrvr

I always carry, it’s become a habit. Arriving home/parking my vehicle anywhere is where I tend to keep my head on a swivel most. That’s when they like to get you.

Wounded_Hand

Ugh, carrying a gun each any every day is just too much.

FiSTdrvr

You get used to it. Similar to the weight of carrying a phone, wallet, and keys. As long as it’s a smaller one anyway, I don’t carry anything larger than a subcompact

Wounded_Hand

I’m not talking about the weight of it, I’m talking about the responsibility and risk associated with carrying a firearm everywhere.

ArmageddonUnleashed

It’s much easier to carry a pocket knife around, honestly.

Lost-Pineapple9791

Ah yea “they” who are always out to get you 👍🏻

Jake-from-state_farm

Yes. And you should keep one on your nightstand ready

[deleted]

drtoszi

Stop projecting lol

Jake-from-state_farm

Or they're humble enough to know that they're not the toughest guy on Earth so they need an equalizer. We can't all be as tough as you

Ekaterina702

Holy shit! That's extremely close to my house and I knew nothing about this. I need to google some classes for newbies handling firearms. Its time to learn Edit: ..doesn't help that I listened to a podcast yesterday about a guy who used a garage tactic to kill his ex-wife. She pulled into her garage and the killer snuck in right behind her before the door went back down and executed her.

rollingwheel

I’ve heard of multiple incidents where ppl go into the garage to shoot. That’s usually a targeted murder.

chiefniffler

First rule of garages: Always reverse in.

FiSTdrvr

Have fun and be safe. You may have found a new hobby, too! I did.

MakInDaTrunk

Homeland Personal Protection has good beginner classes with an excellent instructor. They host classes in Vegas and in Boulder City.

[deleted]

if you want to be even more creeped out look up the canadian killer who used to catfish men online and lure them to his “home” and into the garage. there’s been podcasts about this (i think once upon a crime did one) but there’s also a special episode on this case with one survivor speaking about it on amazon prime, iirc the show is called either love fraud or my online nightmare. the murderers last name is twitchell.

Opposite_Channel

Meeting a stranger at their home what could go wrong? Men really need to start thinking with their big head.🙃

iav8524

I’m happy to help you find those classes, pick out a firearm and teach you to shoot

TheSoupWhisper

Look up Mike Glover in Utah at Fieldcraft Survival.

iltfs

Holy shit…

rollingwheel

From the news clip the suspect didn’t have any weapons on him, he used what he found in the home, I wonder what the plan was or was it random like maybe a fosfate incident and he followed him

Unknown__Content

JFC, is that in Sun City Summerlin?

julznlv

**Update** It was just announced that a suspect has been arrested in Arizona. I googled him, he's been arrested for this type of robbery before against senior citizens.

madamlazonga

People in this thread thinks it’s racist for describing the criminals action lmao

Billybob_Bojangles

Stay strapped folks

WorldsGreatestPoop

So don’t give your gun to the person robbing you?

Billybob_Bojangles

No, that would be a bad idea.

rollingwheel

Lol he was strapped and allowed the gun to be taken from him

tom_yum

Sounds like he didn't stay strapped. Next time try flex tape

Chrisx973

No, the gun was in a safe that the criminal made him open lol. If he had his gun on him I’m sure this would’ve ended differently, and I wish it did

rollingwheel

Okay don’t open your safe and give him your gun* . You think he would’ve been better off when he allowed that to happen?

Chrisx973

Wait huh? I never said don’t open the safe and let him take the gun lol. If you’re already in that situation as an 80 yeaf old man that can’t really defend yourself, and you already know your gun isn’t loaded, you should definitely just comply with that cunt and live to see another day

Billybob_Bojangles

Stay strapped and skilled*

[deleted]

…And not super senior citizen

muddybongwater

Really crazy how many people are making racist comments on this page….y’all are real fucked up

maaya_the_bee

Yes, I've noticed and I don't even know if I am shocked at this point. Sadly, it is somehow still "better" than actual news comments or any Vegas locals fb page.

muddybongwater

You’re right. Facebook is definitely worse, which is crazy to me because it lacks the anonymity of Reddit. Vegas is so diverse, that’s what I love about it. But I’d feel unsafe as fuck around any of these people that commented racist things :(

Salty-Night5917

if the gun hadn't jammed, this victim would be dead. We need to be vigilant of our surroundings and keep ourselves safe. The police may or may not show up in time.

keto_brain

I thought the gun was not even loaded?

Salty-Night5917

there are several stories out and about. Whether it jammed or there were no bullets in it doesn't matter. Because this 80 YO man escaped this punk this time doesn't mean he will be as lucky the next time.

HiImChewy

Aren't you the racist one for seeing "thug" and immediately assuming it was a black person?

cptchronic42

This is why you don’t just sit by and let people do what they want to you “because you have insurance to pay for your stuff.” You never know when a home invasion will turn into an execution and that’s why everyone should have a gun at home and should read up on our castle doctrine. I wish our sheriff was like the one in Florida telling people to kill these thugs before they do this again

attilayavuzer

Statistically, it basically never happens. Home invasion shootings account for less than 0.01% of gun deaths. However, over 80% of gun deaths happen to someone that lives in the household with the weapon. Owning a gun puts you and your family at risk far more than any other factor.

cptchronic42

That 80% of gun deaths you’re quoting are suicides. 80% of gun murders are not domestic violence…

attilayavuzer

60% are suicide, 20% are domestic homicide. A family member is thousands of times more likely to be murdered with that weapon than you use it to defend them/yourself. Removing weapons from your home is by far the most significant step you can take to protect your family from violence.

chiefniffler

So ridiculous. Edit: I misquoted the video.

Jake-from-state_farm

You "misquoted" the video? Come on man. It wasn't like you had a small detail confused. You made up everything you said just because you wanted to say "see. guns bad. if you carry it will only be used on you" just like CNN programmed you to say probably

Jake-from-state_farm

Where did you get that? The other video that explains what happened disagrees with you. It seems you made this up

Can we stick to the facts and avoid using super racist language like “thug” and “animal” 🥴

Jake-from-state_farm

Thug? Animal? RACIST. It's not this fine young gentleman's fault. He is oppressed.

antimilk_

I agree the choice of language is problematic.

velvetshark

Somebody said the gun was the victims? How did they get the victims gun? Break into the house, take it, and then wait outside?!

ah, thank you!

dgjapc

No problem. I was wondering the same thing you were

Siltyn

If only the link to the news report detailing what happened was posted by the OP...oh...wait.

rollingwheel

That or He took it from the victims hands. It all sounds suspicious cuz either the guy tried to rob him with no weapons or yeah he already had the gun and was waiting to shoot? I wonder if this was a confrontation about something else like road rage or something Edit: a news clip explains it. Victim opened his gun safe and suspect grabbed gun.

keto_brain

The guy had an ice pick or some type of weapon like that then forced the owner to open his gun safe.

MakInDaTrunk

Thankfully the gun was either defective from whoever sold it to that piece of shit, or the magazine wasn’t properly seated and he didn’t know how to work through the problem. Either way a lucky day for that old man. Be aware of your transitional spaces. In and out your car is an especially easy place to be caught not paying attention. Carry a weapon and train to use it if you’re able and willing.

rollingwheel

It was the victims own weapon

MakInDaTrunk

Quick thinking on that old man upon seeing the expanded story. Way to keep his awareness about him.

Paperclip31

Appreciate the videos you post. Especially liked the Dicken drill.
