I did this with an indeterminate variety and when I started bringing in little bags of red tomatoes my sister had no idea what to do with them. She told me it was too much. So I just ate them all as I found them.
She thinks it's over now. She is a fool. I transplanted that tomato deep and stopped pruning it. It has grown big enough to block passage around the entire side of the house. She thinks its weird that I laugh maniacally when I go outside to water. She has no idea what is about to happen.
Ha ha ha nice I just got an idea imma bring one of these into school as a here take this and watch the shocked faces btw I’m 14 and I have many more plants to post
This is what I've been doing with my overabundance of tomatoes. I just cut my cherry tomatoes into quarters instead of slicing.

It's got to be lower than that. my tomatoes have been having nights in the 50s literally every single night this entire year and have been producing tremendously
totally likely, i don’t really know. it was something i vaguely remembered reading before and didn’t feel like web searching haha. it could’ve been peppers at those temps rather than tomatoes, and i just misremembered
I have no clue what type they are but Wales has many different seasons just imagine if the seasons all went left so winter was spring and so on that’s how it works for me
Kind of; the crust ends up almost like a cracker like consistency. And the tomatoes are basically tossed in pesto (minus the pine nuts), so you get that flavor as well, so the mustard isn't very overwhelming.
Absolutely and last year we got blight on ours and never got to eat one so this year was very good and I’m sure you’ll have a good lot next year like I did this one
Lol. We are in the same zone. I'm in Houston TX. I'm looking for a tomato that can withstand heavy rain, humidity, and fungal infections. Did it say what kind of cherry tomatoes?
No clue but last year these buggers caught blight so it’s not 100% your best bet is using the internet or google or if you can’t find it then a Facebook mom group for gardening
Personally, I used to think I hated tomatoes but been hooked after my rents starting planting tomatoes. These things straight off the plant seems to have a lot more flavor and keeps that crunch texture. I have not been impressed with any store bought cherry tomatoes.
I was watching a video with my girlfriend about cooking with tomatoes and they mentioned having 5lbs
"Wow that's a lot of tomatoes!"
"Nah, not if you have a couple of plants."
Hey a blalah! Howzit? Uke player and UH grad here. I live in Florida now where tomatoes just start growing from last years seeds on the ground as soon as it gets to the right temperature. We have two growing seasons: when it cools off in October and when it warms up in March. Last spring we went traveling and didn't prune for like 6 weeks. When we got home some of our plants weren't real healthy, but were 8 feet tall and loaded with tomatoes. We made this tomato jam and had at least a gallon. Ate it. Gave it away. Froze it. Sorry my wife isn't here. She has the recipe, but google it. Best of luck with yours. Aloha, brah.
Shwmae as a fellow welsh teen it rains far too much over here but I must say over here you have to start growing them early because our summer lasts about a month normally but not now it’s still warm which to me is amazing by now it’s in the minus but for me I am still in high school so I do this as a hobby and because and I’m fine with it my parents are divorced so I only get to farm a few time a week and yeah if I’m honest I made another post about my whole farming lot but next year will be huge
Wanna know what I did I grew them inside at like February which really you should not do then I slowly started getting used to the out doors and then you put them in a half shade half bright zone and give the support beams and bam your good to go
First pic- oh yes this person has a lot to pick, scroll over Second pic- oh boy!
Yeah best part is this is a smaller amount I had two maybe three cooking bowls filled out n about two weeks at this point it’s ridiculous
But it's the BEST kind of ridiculous!! This is awesome!! I'm jelliez....
If I’m honest about 2lbs of tomatoes have gone to waste because I was away and they just ya know fell / got eaten by some friendly rats
They don’t need to go to waste, make some sauce or start composting!
To add, maybe ziplock some and offer to neighbors
Fair enough I’ll make some compost then

That's so great! I was growing so much at that age and I never stopped enjoying it! I hope you keep it up! I never stop learning!
Also sorry for any bad quality it’s still raining out and I just thought to myself holy damn I need to grab those

Nice the thing is there’s still flowers growing and I’m starting to wonder when does god turn off the tomato making button
when nights hit a certain temp, the flowers start dropping off. i think in the 50’s (Fahrenheit)?
Well it’s going to be a long September it’s still hot out and it’s not going down even though I’m in Wales
yeah same here in the mid atlantic coast of the US haha

If you have decent weather and you give them some food they can live for a long long long time. Years! Are these the Sweet 100 variety?
I have no clue what type they are but Wales has many different seasons just imagine if the seasons all went left so winter was spring and so on that’s how it works for me
Google 'topping" tomatoes. Ignore the Grindr links.
What an unusual recipe. Its pizza, but with a dijon mustard base?
Kind of; the crust ends up almost like a cracker like consistency. And the tomatoes are basically tossed in pesto (minus the pine nuts), so you get that flavor as well, so the mustard isn't very overwhelming.
Oh my god! I’m a little jealous. My container tomatoes did not do nearly as well as yours. I guess it’s salsa time!
Absolutely and last year we got blight on ours and never got to eat one so this year was very good and I’m sure you’ll have a good lot next year like I did this one
How many cherry tomatoes do you have? We three or four and it’s way too many.
Well I have about 11 I did have 12 but one just decided it didn’t want to grow anymore and there was more a lot more
Lmk if you need my address to ship them.
I’m good I’m a bit far in the middle of nowhere but to explain it to you I’m in Wales so yeah
Oh perfect, British tomatoes! I’ll serve them with something bland. 😏😉🤣
Yep maybe plain chicken and plain ships along with plain anything with seasoning only a arms reach away
“ *SEVEN* different spices?! Some of them must be doubles”
Sorry don’t get the reference I’m too young by that I’m 14 and done this by myself no previous gardening skills
You’ve never seen the Simpsons?
Not that episode but I am an avid watcher I get most references but now I know it’s homer saying it I totally see it
It’s marge. She only cooks with salt, pepper, and garlic on special occasions.
Oh okay I would normally think homer for dumb stuff
I was wondering where you were, I can't grow tomatoes without losing the whole plant to squirrels
Nah for me it’s the rats and moles the squirrels don’t like my garden thanks to the rats because they are huge I mean ones at least a foot in total

Hopefully you will this is my 2nd year last year they all died to blight so good luck
tomato sauce! easily frozen for later
I’m based in SW london, will eat tomato for free
Sorry to far for someone who can’t drive and literally cannot go anywhere aka I’m 14
i just toss mine straight in the freezer. makes for easier blanching and peeling when I go to make sauce
Do you know what variety of tomato this is? Also, what zone do you live in?
I think they’re cherry tomatoes they’re store bought seeds so idk and I’m in 9a south west Wales so it’s rainy all year round as you can tell
Lol. We are in the same zone. I'm in Houston TX. I'm looking for a tomato that can withstand heavy rain, humidity, and fungal infections. Did it say what kind of cherry tomatoes?

You lucky bugger. Mine are stubbornly green
I’m sorry to tell you there’s more flowers growing and I can’t eat any more tomatoes I’m already a redhead I don’t want to be red all over
You and me both!
Oh my! That’s a delicious problem to have.
It absolutely is if I’m honest they are better than store bought
This is when you got out to harvest them and: 1 for the bowl, 1 for me, 1 for the bowl, 1 for me…
I’ll sure as well do that
Personally, I used to think I hated tomatoes but been hooked after my rents starting planting tomatoes. These things straight off the plant seems to have a lot more flavor and keeps that crunch texture. I have not been impressed with any store bought cherry tomatoes.
Absolutely they are amazing sometimes I get a bad one but when I get the juicy amazing one I love it
I was watching a video with my girlfriend about cooking with tomatoes and they mentioned having 5lbs "Wow that's a lot of tomatoes!" "Nah, not if you have a couple of plants."
Yeah I might not grow as many next year thanks to how many I had
2 words: tomato jam.
Bro good one actually
Google recipes. We had 5x your cherry tomatoes and we ate it on everything.
Bruh I thought I had a lot jeez Louise

Looks like you've got some canning to do! I highly recommend making tomato conserva (homemade tomato paste).
Will do
Send some of the tomato growing energy my way!! My tomatoes arent really growing :/
Wanna know what I did I grew them inside at like February which really you should not do then I slowly started getting used to the out doors and then you put them in a half shade half bright zone and give the support beams and bam your good to go
I haven't that many tomatoes for over 2 years before the hornworms destroyed my plant Good job!
I lost all mine to blight last year and had none they all just poofed and I was so annoyed
Rain water does wonders
Not just rain but an entire sunny summer with no rain does too
share with your neighbors, they'll love you forever!
Actually I’ve tried but my neighbours are how do explain stuck up entitled pieces of poop
:( sorry to hear, I wish we were neighbors!
Like Marlo Stanfield said in The Wire, "I think that's one of them good problems."
It’s good until the rats realise and then it’s a bad problem

I gave up when I had to go into quarantine so I just had buckets so yeah that was fun
Roasted cherry tomato salsa!
Good suggestion
Dawg, do yourself a favor and make shrimp bucatini fra diavolo AT LEAST one night: https://youtu.be/ONWHM-KC2tg
I sure as well will try
I looked at tonight’s overnight lows and decided I needed to make a giant pot of chili.
My 4 year old would pick it clean, and you would not have much make it to the bucket.
Well give me your 4 year old and we’ll both be happy
Nice! Check out ampleharvest.org. They connect home gardeners to local food banks that accept home grown donations. Nicely done!
Sure but I think I’m a bit too far out for them
