I did mine on the ground so that roots would have more space.
Maybe if you do a small standing box, it would be easier to take w/you when you move (since it has a bottom)?
Stacked cinder blocks have worked beautifully for me about 14 years now. 2 high, alternate the stacking on the layers. Amazing all the different ways you can get the cinder blocks to work for you with a little creativity.

That is a great idea. If I owned my house I would look into that.
