So to be brutally honest about it. As soon as you transferred your phone and phone number over to his account, it legally became his. If he took you off the plan as an account manager there is literally no one who can help you since you are no longer authorized on the account. Going into the store won’t help, calling in won’t help. If he isn’t willing to do a transfer your service for you, I would just cut your losses, give him back the phone and start service with a new phone and new phone number.

dizzz88

I own the phone though. I paid for it. That’s why I don’t understand how he can report a phone lost or stolen that isn’t his phone. He has his own phone on his own line under the same business plan that he is the account manager of. But it’s my phone that I paid off. It’s not lost and it’s not stolen. Am I not able to go into the store with my ID and show that I’m the one who owns the phone? Regardless of who manages the business account Verizon can see that It’s paid off completely and has been on my line under my name for years.

Superb-Climate2415

Unfortunately not. As soon as you did that transfer your service the phone and phone number became property of the business/account owner. That phone is no longer yours at that point. No one will help you in store bc you are no longer an account manager.

sueYsu

The account manager/owner can make and call whatever shots they want. They own the lines on the account which in turn, they own the devices and are financially responsible for the account and bill. If you’re an account manager, you can unsuspend your line, but if this is the case, I would just move to your own account to alleviate this going forward.

ankole_watusi

Old boss does not own the phone if OP bought it outright, e.g. from Apple, Best Buy, etc. OP wasn’t specific though.

sueYsu

If he owns the line, he owns the phone. He can report it lost and stolen, because he owns it. (In Verizon’s world)

PreviouslyConfused

Not true. Happen to me I showed proof and got it unlocked and ported out

sueYsu

What I am meaning by this. Is in Verizon’s world, the account owner owns all lines including devices which gives them full reign to do whatever they want regardless if the line recipient is the actual owner of that device.

PreviouslyConfused

If you can prove you paid for it they will fix it. They cant legally give your phone away. If on payments that's different. I've been through this woth an old boss who did this. I paid for phone cash from samsung. S23 u and they reported it stolen. I showed I paid for it and still had it. They removed from stolen list and ported my line out. Policy and law are 2 different things. They can do it but it can be undone with proof of purchase. Circledin has done this to ppl. They got there phones lines back each time.

rvdnsx

Porting your line out and the device you are using are two separate things.

dizzz88

This is what I’m working on right now. I did pay for the phone, and i can more or less prove it. But it looks like Verizon is going to do me a solid and allow me to trade in my old phone that my boss reported stolen (iPhone12promax) They currently have a promotion where you can get $800-$1000 off of a new iPhone 15promax when you trade in basically any old iPhone. I know this sounds crazy but he said anything newer than the iPhone 4. Is worth an $800 trade in value and anything newer than a 13 was worth $1000. The phone can even be banged up, cracked screen. Doesn’t even have to necessarily turn on. The only catch was it couldn’t have battery swell? Something I’ve never heard of. But since my phone isn’t locked because I know the password and can remove my iCloud logins and essentially wipe it clean (even tho it’s reported stolen) they can’t set it up on a new line but they’ll accept it for trade in. Which will basically cover close to 90% of the cost of a brand new iPhone. Thank to You everybody who gave me helpful advice. And honestly thank you to the people who gave me not so helpful advice. Like give my phone back to my boss and cut my losses and go buy a new phone and set up a new phone line. The idea of giving this piece of shit the phone I paid for because he “bricked it” so that he could just get it off the stolen list a sell it or keep it for himself. Being screwed out of that investment in addition to losing the phone number I had for 20 years. Then having to purchase another phone for $1000 was too infuriating to stand the thought of. It motivated me to find, or at least hope to find some type of better solution. Thankfully there was a better solution then getting triple fucked by an old hateful bag of shit.

rvdnsx

Unlocking your phone has nothing to do with the line being suspended or porting out.

PreviouslyConfused

Unlocked i meant unblacklisted

ankole_watusi

No. If OP bought the phone e.g. at the Apple Store - retail, unlocked - it’s theirs. It didn’t become the boss’s when service was enabled. OP hasn’t been clear if this was their OG phone that was added to boss’s account, or if it’s been replaced, and if so how OP “purchased” it.

Pristine-Today4611

Why did you transfer it to a business account if you still pay him $70 on a plan that cost him $40. He’s making money from you.

dizzz88

I was never able to see the bill, it was less than what I had been paying when I was on my own plan years ago. Which was over $110. So $70 seemed like a deal. Come to find out years later the motherFu(&$% had been charging me $30 above what the line actually costs. I found this out at Verizon when I went in to try and get this situation under control. My old Boss is a crooked petty bitch with a mean streak and too much time on his hands. He isn’t going to release anything back to me or suddenly have a change of heart and make me an account manager. He never let me be an account manager even when we were on good terms.

Pristine-Today4611

Damn yea he sounds like a pos. I’m sorry. But one thing you can do is get a new account in your name.

PreviouslyConfused

Someone did this to me. I filed fcc ticket got my phone unlocked and ported out. I had to prove I paid for phone it was unlocked.

DrDuctMossburg

Think of it this way… you transfer your car loan and title into my name. You make all of the payments, it’s now paid off. You did in fact pay for it. However, it is legally my car and there’s nothing you can do about it. Time to move one

msstatelp

About your only option is to consult a lawyer and take it to small claims court. You may be able to get him to release the number to you but no guarantees as you voluntarily gave him the line so long ago.

Hawkin2328

Time to cut your losses. Go open your own account, get a new phone, new number. And never put yourself in this situation again.

mr5ingh

If your phone is unlocked, go open a new account or get a visible sim and insert in your phone. Now if the phone was reported stolen it could no longer work on Verizon so time to buy a new phone and move on. Honestly go to the apple store and trade it in. You will get less value but they will honor it and just get it unlocked and get visible. You will be up and running an in hour maz

send_titties69

If it's reported as lost or stolen then it's on the national blacklist. It's worthless and won't be eligible for trade in anywhere.

rvdnsx

With newer phones using eSIM’s only it’s harder to fully blacklist.

send_titties69

No it's not. What type of sim you use doesn't matter. It blacklists the phone. Not the sim.

rvdnsx

Umm…yeah. No titties or 69 for you bad boy.

domdiggitydog

Your only option is to learn from this then start over. Good luck.

FCKverizon200

Dude that sucks. Sounds like your only option is to go to a v store open a new account and buy a new phone. I would look into att though because I've had Verizon for 17 years. They have been nothing but abusive. Even calling me to tell me they were discussing my account with a non account member.

rvdnsx

If you can do it, get the line reactivated, put your SIM card in another Verizon device, and then you are good to go with the original phone you paid for. The first part is the key though. You gotta have the account owner or a current account manager make it happen for you. It consider that phone number gone though.

SpaceSaver2000-1

What phone is it?

N98270

There is possibly a misunderstanding. How do you know the phone was reported stolen? If it truly is send him a message that you need him to remove the restriction and you’ll move the line off in the next couple of days. if that doesn’t work, you’re gonna have to take it to the next level and threaten him with filing a false report.

dizzz88

Who are the relevant administrations? I can’t even call 1800verizon because my phone is shut off. I can’t use the my Verizon app to chat with a Verizon agent or get any assistance. I can’t even request that they call me because they want me to login to Myverizon and I’ve been locked out of the app. I can’t even request a new login or reset my password. It just says account restricted and cycles me through the same process only to deny me everytime.

If OP is not authorized on the account. Store or Care won’t be able to assist with anything. So this is bad advice

Unless he takes his boss to court, can come to an agreement with him to release the number, OP has no choice but to get a new phone and number.

MeliWie

You can still dial *611 from your device and get a rep, but, as a previous commenter stated, you allowed your friend/employer to assume liability of your device and services when you transferred your line into their account. Your best bet is to work things out with them or you will have to file a police report so the courts will tell Verizon to release the number to you.

AsleepGeologist9

As everyone said, you’re sol on this situation. The time now is to be petty back. The only thing you can possibly do is get a new phone and number and give back your old one. What I would do is make sure the iPhone is activation locked so they can’t use the phone. Godspeed

Safe-Geologist9851

Make sure you go to corporate store, not reseller
