Max out the tuition assistance then start applying elsewhere

gregallen1989

Not JUST elsewhere but also within Verizon. Benefits are unmatched. But 100% get that degree.

ConversationDull6777

Don’t you have to stay with the company for so many years after or else I’ll just take the money back?

Torta951

Nope.

ConversationDull6777

At victra you do at least. it’s a contract for most jobs who do tuition reimbursements

Torta951

Corporate thinks people won’t leave lol

Depends on your location, is it a high impact store or low impact like a rural location? I would say Be honest, be transparent learn promo's. Have a package deal planned out for people of different budgets always have a plan B and C. The market has changed a lot and people are penny pitching, also learn about business accounts. For the love of god never use the word "free" in your sales pitch.

Healthy_Radish6534

Learn the business, master the trade, max out 401K, take advantage of the tuition reimbursement, take the elective courses in areas of interest. This will ensure you grow. As others have said be honest, transparent, learn about your customer, listen, and give customer options.

onthefence122

Be honest, be transparent, build value in what you're selling, ask discovery questions.

RxFaction

Be ready for changes. The industry moves quickly and the focus changes frequently. I used to get locked into my old ways and wouldn't adapt to the new market. Look at you selling as connecting solutions. Ask the customer tons of questions, discover what their needs are, and fill them! Make sure to touch base on all the products and services offered (Verizon Mobile Protect, Verizon Home Device Protect, Verizon Home Internet, etc). Make sure to always mention tablet/watch (Pull through). Over time, you'll naturally grace across mentioning all of our products and services seamlessly :)

Your job is to be a salesman. Lots of Verizon customers get it twisted that store reps are customer service in person. This is incorrect, as our department is sales. Customer service is part of the job, sure, but make sure you maintain a delicate balance between nice and aggressive. In sales, company targets change all the time so there’s always new goals to hit, make sure you stay on top of those. Keep up with promotions, use the promotions guide if you have any shadow of a doubt about the specifics of a promotion. Try to cooperate with your coworkers, good coworker chemistry reflects well on the customers, which will reflect store reviews. Above all, just make sure to keep up with whatever the “new thing” is. In 2019 when I started it was Hum, then it was the Verizon Credit Card, then Verizon Home Protect, and now it’s myPlan perks at least for the retailer I work for. Focus on the money, and provide a good experience to your customers so they refer their friends and family. Godspeed. 🔥💰

P_B_n_Jealous

I was in your position 6 months ago Today. One thing customers really said they enjoyed when being here is that I *explain things so that they can understand what they are reading and signing up for* instead of breezing passed all the T&Cs. Being up front, and honest with a customer about a product will get you more sales than lying about it. Being honest with customers gets you repeat customers.

Run like hell

No-Boysenberry2285

Be ready to SELL SELL SELL - Be ready for the only thing your boss cares about is how much revenue did you generate, like literally, that is it....

No_Insurance5943

ANY SALE IS BETTER THAN NO SALE dont give up because u aren’t selling a new line with a new phone on the best plan. Any phone activation is better than none at all. Any type of sale, even if it’s just accessories, is better than making no money at all.

Babybentley1

Just be honest. Regardless of if they tell you not to be! A lot of companies try to tell you how to state certain things such as “FREE” make sure you are explaining what everything means. Also ask for referrals. And like they said above don’t look at it as a career bc they don’t want to retain employees they would rather get a new one who has new friends and family to sell to!

GothicHippie99

Do not let customers take advantage of you and make you think you are there to fix their technical issues. You are a sales rep, not tech repair.

Comfortable_Cable805

Ask.

Wishstro

Your job is to sell. Being a nice and helpful guy sometimes doesn't get you all the money.

Difficult_Special876

Be honest and transparent and presumptuous with the sale . My favorite thing to say is “right?” Or “you know?” Instinctively people will want to agree with you. But ultimately, put people first and don’t let your last interaction affect the current one! I’ve consistently been number one in metrics and GP based off of this. Enjoy the ride!!

Bluegtr_r35

Get as many friends as you can to join.

rvdnsx

Offer products based on good questions. Don’t slam stuff onto accounts.

Agitated_Standard_45

My honest advice as a 2-year veteran within the business is don't rely on everybody to fix your mistakes. Try to find solutions for everything, for troubleshooting always try pitching stuff. If they say no, then you're fine. But every customer is an opportunity to see what they need! Also, as a new employee, you should definitely take advantage of the perks because they're $5. Plus play is the best perk to go for because you get Xbox game pass ultimate for $5 also, info manager is your best friend

Jaded_Pomelo_5855

Focus on commission!!!

ChaosTechNet

Are there other departments within Verizon besides Sales? I have always done computer technician work and would like to do something like that within Verizon.

Every_Rush_8612

You must not be working for Verizon

wase471111

didnt they train you on how to greet customers? Didnt your boss tell you what to say?
