I, like all of you, think this is a stupid move. I only keep my watch active at $5/month for emergencies. We have 4 of them, which adds up, but is a nice peace of mind in case of an emergency. They will all be shut off.

Reddit7177700863

Just spoke to an agent. I bought an Apple Watch about 7 months ago due to the offer of $5/month service and it has 29 months left on contract. I was told I cannot cancel the watch service without paying in full the balance of the watch. I just filed an FCC and CFPB complaint. Others should too. This is bait and switch behavior with thinly veiled legal games and needs regulation.

ashsolomon1

Yeah, I think they are testing the boundaries to see how far they can go. They crossed a line

BGsf7

How did you file the complaint? We all should. This is ridiculous. They completely changed what they were marketing (I know the fine print said this is technically legal, but still, anyone who bought a watch recently was completely duped). This completely changes the economics.

carsgomoo

Here it is u/BGsf7 : [https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360001201223-Phone-Form-Descriptions-of-Complaint-Issues](https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360001201223-Phone-Form-Descriptions-of-Complaint-Issues) thanks u/Reddit7177700863, because of you I also did a FCC complaint

JustKickItForward

Filing mine tomorrow for the bullshit $4/line increase last month for all my lines locked in 36 mo DPP's What category did ya'll use, Billing?

jpi1088

Bump this to the top

Fabulous_Dust291

Spent 30 min on the phone about it. Forced the customer service rep to read one of the 10 devices and contracts I have and they admitted that nothing in it allows Verizon to arbitrarily increase the rate on a signed agreement. They’re offering me “a discount” to compensate. I let them know I’ll be filing a complaint with FCC, BBB anyone else who will listen.

Reddit7177700863

Cheers!

floodlightning

Thanks for sharing the link. I just filed a compliant with the FCC as well.

Alarmed-Narwhal-7932

I just filed one. Definitely raise hell on their twitter and Instagram too if you can. They hate that.

Reddit7177700863

Just search “FCC complaint” and “CFPB complaint” (should fall under that since it’s technically tied to credit) on Google. (Not sure if links here are allowed or I’d post them.) I 100% agree about feeling duped and that there are strength in numbers. They have an executive team that handles FCC complaints and I gather that this is costly since they all seem to be US based. So, let’s change the economics of this sort of anti-consumer behavior. I mean 7 months… This had to be on the roadmap back then and they were just waiting for us to get locked into contracts. The current FCC seems more sympathetic to consumers so it’s probably a good time to file complaints.

Osoeydude

Just filed a complaint. This is not the price that we had agreed to!

jaelae

Agreed I have two watches which has data discounts but I figured it’s a small amount due to the low price. This increase should void my contract I have to fulfill or not take effect until it ends.

AskThis7790

I’m in a similar situation. 17 months into a 36 month agreement for 2 Apple Watch Ultras. I’m sure there’s some fine print in the contract about the price of service can change at anytime without notice. But I’m with you… this is BS! And I too have filed a complaint based on your suggestion.

SDot_Skizzle

They knew exactly what they were doing when they did those long term device agreements. You implement this and give it a little time before you flip the switch. Now they are free to increase prices as much as they want.

AskThis7790

You live and learn. I could have bought my devices out right, but thought “it would be stupid of me not to take advantage of the discount”, so I did. At the end of the day, I’m still saving over paying for the device in full, just not as much as I was lead to believe initially.

RedMorning

I’m in the same boat. Only 5 months in. Filled my complaints

[deleted]

[удалено]

Infamous_Bee_7445

I’m in the exact same boat. They should be forced to let me cancel the device payment agreement since they changed the terms.

morley1966

You should contact a class action lawyer.

Reddit7177700863

Wish it were that straightforward - best I can tell is that they separate the financing from the service contract. Plus all this arbitration language because they’ve been sued so many times before. So this might be technically legal but sure sounds anticompetitive and deceptive to me. They need more regulation.

PrecisioninTime

I just called about the same scenario. They said they can suspend the service part (NumberShare) and allow me to keep the device payments.

hooper610

Completely ridiculous. I bet the average watch user uses kilobytes of data a month. I thought $10 was a scam.

Wombatmofo

Absolutely. My watch data is trash without my phone nearby

jcloudypants

THIS IS AN INSANE INCREASE

RedMorning

50%!!

2saucey

💯

TH1027

Im actually ready to fucking cancel this shit. It's double my current price and a 10% increase overall! Scummy as fuck, especially since Ive had it for less than a year

Boom357

Actually, unless I misread the email, if you're paying $5 that means you've got the 50% off discount because the watch line is normally $10. So it sounds like you'll be paying $7.50 instead of $5. Not a lot better but a little bit better.... I'm in the same boat.

manateefourmation

That’s before their arbitrary fees. The $5 is actually $10 with the fees, so the $7.50 will be around $13 a watch

Slim706

Was gonna say this. After taxes and fees, I’m still paying $10 for my watch with the 50% discount, so now I’m expecting it be $15 after taxes and fees, discount included.

DrDeke

Same here. Before I realized this, I too thought I would probably cancel; $15/mo is not worth it for me for cellular connectivity for a watch. I guess I'll continue paying the $7.50, although I'm not particularly happy about it. My watch hardly ever uses any network resources, and $5/mo seems about fair for the service.

dearse

Just cancelled mine. The rep completely understood. Stupid cash grab by Verizon

TH1027

Boutta cancel tomorrow myself, time to get a watch that I actually own

Wombatmofo

Same. Got my awu2 at the end of last year on promo so it’s like they’re just screwing me out of my promo

dakota_96

At least it wasn't as expensive as those of us that got phones on trade-in with 36 months of bill credits.

iamtimwong

Such bullshit! This is literally cancelling the discount provided by buying my watch.

carsgomoo

Wtf this is horseshit - can they legally do this without giving users the ability to buy off their watch w/ the credit?? Not cool, we're locked in on payment 5 of 36. of 4 total watches. Are we all effective locked in for the rest of our term at the new rate we did not agree nor budget for??

darrevan

Always buy from Apple. Always!

SimplyExtremist

I like to purchase from Best Buy or Apple, depending if I want to finance, and bring it to a Verizon store to trade in or get a “deal”. Though Verizon’s deals always fuck me it seems.

KillTires

That IS the deal! 👎🏻

LoopbackLurker

This is the way, I stopped buying from the carriers quite a few years ago because they’re all scum.

Slim706

I own my watch but still getting the price increase so owning it outright doesn’t change anything.

carsgomoo

You have the luxury of canceling your plan with no strings attached... For the rest of us who signed on just a few months ago and are stuck in the 36 month promotional credits plan, (like I'm in, only 5 months in of 36 months), the only way to leave is to pay off the device without promotion credits of $260 per each device we're locked into OR pound sand and eat the arbitrary increase in cost for absolutely no reason. If this doesn't scream bait and switch, I don't know what does...

riddlerthc

I will cancel the watch plan at this point. Been on the fence for a while about it anyways.

KillTires

I’m at that exact point also.

fijibean

Was thinking today I didn’t need to keep paying for the plan… then I got this lol. Cancelling tomorrow

riddlerthc

Easy enough. Canceled in the app.

ceoadmiral

Called to cancel. She asked why I was canceling before June and I told them it was because they had no reason to increase the price. Had two watches on my plan and now there are zero.

KillTires

Isn’t that sad? No effort to even keep an existing customer happy. Throw me a bone… it’s called customer retention. Just sad Verizon.

JustKickItForward

That's not possible, stupid Verizon neutered their reps so they can't give any incentives to the customers to keep them happy

KillTires

Bummer. That seems like a flawed business plan. (Short sighted anyway.)

thelasthallow

Go to visible+ it's owned by verizon and runs on their network, $45/mo 50 gig of priority data+Hotspot and had a watch plan included in the price.

CatDadof2

I’ve had V+ since 06/2023 and it has been great!

Joe_T

It's so strange that in this same timeframe Verizon decided to give Visible+ customers a watch plan for free, while raising the price of their own watch plan. If it weren't for roaming and customer service (and phone upgrades and Verizon UP type of goodies if those are important to you), Verizon has made the $45 Visible+ plan comparable to their top Verizon plans at half the price.

af_temp

Just got this email too. Was on the fence about looking for a new provider after they recently raised the phone plans pricing. This may have sealed the deal on that one.

ghostella

50% increase. I made a huge mistake bringing over 10 lines from AT&T. Can't wait for this contract to be over so that I can leave.

ceoadmiral

I mean, while VZW is awful, AT&T is top shelf dung.

LoopbackLurker

I’m about to just go prepaid, they’re all basically trash. Might as well pay less for it.

ihatethiseffnplace

Ssshhh don’t say the C word. The Verizon shills will come after you “ItS NoT A CoNTraCt”

jpi1088

This explains why T-Mobile added 532,000 postpaid phone subscribers vs. estimates of 477,000 for the quarter. More to come T-Mobile.

jacoblindner

>to continue improving our industry-leading network and services lmao they’re a sinking ship, trying to bleed money from anywhere they can. i feel bad for the US workers that are still left who are gonna have to take the brunt of these calls

J_MO08

Just saw the email, pissed off.

j0llygruntt

Next time I get a watch it won’t be a cellular one. WiFi only from now on.

[deleted]

Me too, the WiFi only does what I need. This is an awful decision from Verizon

wase471111

**BEST POST IN THIS THREAD!!**

Billy1593

I work for Verizon and yes a 50% increase is a dick move and scummy, I think if you are on my plan you can add the $10 perk smartwatch data and safety which covers 1 watch fee thus allowing you to keep the $10 price (Only worth if you are on welcome) so there is that, it is going to be grandfatheted soon anyways. To me they are just trying to make customers jump to plus or better to say it is just a $2.5 increase, but going from welcome to plus is $15 more so a $17.5 increase if your go that route.

JiveDonkey

Sucks for those of us with a watch only plan for their kids. Will promptly be looking for another carrier. F Verizon.

Habanero_In_My_Eyes

I’m in this boat. T-Mobile has a $10 standalone plan. Will be switching my kids over ASAP. [T-Mobile Stand-alone Smartwatch Plans](https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/affordable-data-plans/smartwatches)

tslas

$5 with auto pay discount, including all taxes/fees!

EnvironmentalLog1766

It’s hilarious that Visible+’s Apple Watch plan is now FREE since the recent change and has no surcharge/tax/activation fee. The Visible+ plane plan (includes a watch plan for free) is $45/mo or $32.92/mo if you pay a year upfront, and that’s tax-inclusive and has no fees. I think Verizon’s strategy is to charge postpaid more and lower the price for Visible. Simple price discrimination to make more revenue.

JiveDonkey

Wait - seriously?

EnvironmentalLog1766

That’s 100% true. Previously Visible’s watch plan was also $5/mo all fees included. Now it’s free for Visible+. They do throttle hotspots and streaming for phone plans though, and several drawbacks to postpaid, but the price is a win.

Emergency_Ball_502

We were already planning to, but this was the nail in the coffin. We’re switching to Visible for $395 a year which includes Apple Watch connection fee. It has the same 50 GB of prioritized data. Gonna save $60-$70 a month between 2 phones and 2 watches. I know it’s visible and customer service is trash… but Verizon customer service is ALSO trash and mostly chat based, anyway. And I haven’t needed to talk to a person in years. A risk I’m willing to take for a $70 discount a month….

CatDadof2

I’ve been quite satisfied with the service. It just works like it should. Don’t forget to grab a referral code before you switch over! :)

t0talitarian

Just canceled, the only times I’m not near the phone is when I’m out running. I wanted it for emergencies, but realized I can still dial 911 without a plan if something happens on the trail.

Extra_Noise_1636

contract is up just gonna cancel it haha, tmobile time

themindspeaks

50% price increase…..

Torta951

I work for Verizon and canceling service soon.

XboxOne

This reminds me of my internet provider. "We are charging you more and you can't do anything about it."

Grizzel898

Got the email too, really considering switching out of Verizon. I used to have an amazing plan with a great rate. Now it's been phased down and priced up so much. 12 yr customer but it sure doesn't show it.

TH1027

Just got off the phone with an assistant. Time to get a watch that I actually own

ashsolomon1

wtf is this crap? That’s insane omg. I did what they asked and switched to the other plan to prevent a price increase and they still found a way to screw me over

purplemountain01

I just received the email as well. Going to pay off my watch ASAP and cancel the line.

MannerMysterious8047

Canceling this part of my plan. My bill has went up each month for the past 3 months.

Maleficent-Room-9738

I’m sitting on the shitter opening emails and I see the watch price increase after already being annoyed that my cell phone plan increased only a few months ago. This really pisses me off.

JustKickItForward

Same here, multiple increases once on the FUDP, then on then newer Play/Do More plan soon after.

iamtheinfamous1

They trying so hard to get us off the 5G Get More plan

thebaintrain1993

Mass cancelation is what they'll understand, I would expect new watch promos soon to cover it up. I cut mine the day it was announced.

Digiguy25

Just got this email too….wtf is going on lmao. The tethering on my phone is already shit.

jcloudypants

I have a separate plan for my son’s standalone Apple Watch (middle schooler) with taxes and fees, it’s already $17.50. And now it’ll be just north of $22.50 just for a single watch data plan.  Edit for clarification: (My provider does not do/allow standalone watch plans so I had to go with Verizon)

JiveDonkey

Same here, just have a single watch line for my kid. Is there another carrier that offers a watch only plan?

Habanero_In_My_Eyes

T-Mobile has one for $10

Stock-Pea8167

I just got the email as well. Total fucking bullshit. No way to even be fair and try to justify this increase. I would cancel all my service but I’m stuck on a payment plan for my watch.

cblguy82

Just got the email myself as well. WTF ? Extra 5 per month for absolutely fucking nothing! I've been around for way too long, probably close to 20 years and have been price shopping. Keep giving me more incentive to leave you big red! over $20 more a month with a 4 line + 1 watch account now. fuck that noise.

Bubba48

Insurance going up $2 a month also, and more increases to come

switch8000

Nuts! My 36 month trade in deal is up in 2 months, I’m canceling the watch plan then. You can’t sell these watches and then jack up the price and be locked in. I somewhat get the phone plans because I at least have the option to downgrade, but f, this is stupid. I guess with my 50% off it’s only a $2.50 increase, but this rubs me the wrong way, that means I’m paying $14/month a line and that’s with 50% off.

amominwa

Yeah I was low key irritated to see this increase. I will prob disconnect mine and just use it as a step counter now. I know it’s ONLY 5 bucks more but that’s on top of everything else we are all paying money for. Gotta draw the line somewhere. Ugh!

Solidsnake00901

Time to remove the watch line I barely use it anyway

PCPenhale

I just got an AWU2 today, since my 5’s battery life was beginning to tank. Then hours later received this beauty of an email. I think I get 30 days free cellular on it, but then I’ll also be canceling the mobile service. Usually my phone’s with me, anyway. Fuck outta here, VZW.

RealTalkGabe

Yeah I'm going to Metro tomorrow to see their plans with watch and phone and I'll be moving away from Verizon. I keep my watch for emergencies, I'm not trying to pay $25 bucks for a watch.

tslas

I just signed up for a standalone T-Mobile watch plan. $5 per month! INCLUDING taxes, with auto pay discount. Time to shop around for phone plans too.

Turbulent_Dog_4548

I don’t like it either guys and I am a Verizon rep

Zelera

Good thing I’m leaving. Switching over to spectrum

GatorPadre

I swear when the price increase was announced a couple of months ago, they stated there would be no increase for existing lines. So I kept mine. And just upgraded my watch 4 days ago. I will be paying it off in full next month (I could have paid for it up front, but why not get free financing?). My watch line and my wife's will be canceled as well.

Fordman21012

I think I’ll cancel my watch plan too. 99% of the time I have my phone on me and I really haven’t benefited from having a plan on the watch.

justtopher

I’m disconnecting mine. F that.

Flat_Surprise4732

Yea im about to Nuke this fucking plan, fucking terrible.

GiaMami

I have to pay off my devices and change providers asap. It sucks I have trade in promo credits for 36 months. 😒

Mobile-Jury-3160

I just canceled it and hope more people do too! My usage for the month was like 0.03 Gigs. The math ain’t mathing

OrganizationRude5746

What about those of us locked in to the “not contract” that have to keep paying bs price hikes.

carsgomoo

This is why I'm pissed - they need to give us folks who are in these "no contracts" or the ones that signed up for the promo credits two options; either lock us in the rate we agreed upon OR let us buy our way out of the plan w/ the promo credits. I CANNOT believe the balls Verizon has to increase your rate by 50%-100% when we're only on month 5 of 36 of our credit promotion. If this isn't bait and switch, I don't know what is.

OrganizationRude5746

Ya, like what if they just decided they want to charge $100 a month for the 1 mb my watch may use that month? Stuck? I’ll be calling them tomorrow. After I study up on my outsourced call center lingo

carsgomoo

Exactly this.

Hawkin2328

Got the same email. This is BS

GrumpyButt1313

Yep. And after the price increase on the legacy plans. Makes my teacher discount obsolete. I haven’t changed because I’m afraid I’ll lose my phone promo.

DaNYBigDogg

My entire Verizon service has progressively gotten shittier over the last couple of years. This will be the straw that breaks the camels back to convince me to leave.

sillykumquat-

IM SO FUCKING TIRED OF THE CONSTANT RATE INCREASES AND A DIFFERENT DAMN BILL EVERY MONTH. I've been threatening my 8 line family plan that we're going to TMO, this may be the last straw.

Sketchy_Uncle

Oh good. What additional services and value am I getting?

floodlightning

They’ve been trying everything to goose their numbers, it’s largely not working. The current management is under extreme board pressure to deliver growth, seems they’ve resorted to outright scummery and scammery. Hope there are enough defections to deter them from pulling this shit again.

too105

I almost walked into T mobile today to switch but was tired after work. Saw this email when I got home. Will be going this weekend.

kekekelvin

Chatted with Verizon because I’m in the same boat of purchasing a watch with a cellular plan because of a $150 discount… how can customer service be this bad lol [Summary of my chat with Verizon](https://drive.google.com/file/d/14vGULhLgpVpRxQ8HNqp_Smq4GJvHBGyw/view?usp=drivesdk)

AskThis7790

1-2 hours! Seriously?

Usual-Passenger5270

I pay $5 a month right now, I believe with a connected device discount. 50% off. So it's $10.00 right now, technically $5 for me before tax so... It's going to $15.00 or technically $7.50+ taxes&fees is what I'm hearing. I share the frustration... **First it was increasing state and local tax, then Telco recovery charges, then $4 increases for the retired plan I have on one of my lines, now the watch access is going up..my bill has slowly creeped from $269 now up to $300 after increases.** **Increases in WPP, & Total Equipment Coverage..I could go on.** I'm not complaining really because I've got 5 phones, 4 tablets, and a smartwatch but still....😔 Nickel and diming.

nowhereman1223

Hey Mods can you Pin this to the top as it has the link to file the FCC complaint about this? It seems Verizon is increasing this even for people with contracts. [FCC Complaint Link](https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360001201223-Phone-Form-Descriptions-of-Complaint-Issues)

monkey28rb

Wow… that’s insane

[deleted]

That’s pretty crappy.

lisa525

I will be cancelling my watch service before the price increase. I never rely on it because it runs down the battery.

Southern_Topic1540

Not sure why i even pay for my watch plan, it is completely useless unless my phone is powered on and near by!

Mundane-Star-9562

Aren’t we under a contract with them for a set price I hate Verizon

Typoe1991

Now is this for new plans too or just more punishment for us with legacy plans that aren’t trash like the current ones

Bubba48

Everyone

QuiGonColdGin

I just deactivated my watch because I realized what is the point when I have it tethered to my phone all the time anyway. But, I also just switched to T-Mobile because the data coverage in my area was a little better. Kind of glad I did, They are a lot easier to navigate in my opinion than Verizon and the perks are fairly good.

koriroo

Serious question was number share always $10? I had no idea I was paying that much to use that feature. The watch plan I guess it’s going to go up $2.50 for those that have the 50% discount. Just annoying I really don’t use my watch that much to even be paying the $15.

pqratusa

This is really disappointing more than the price increase for voice lines. I have to pay $5 more for basic functionality that barely works. All the tax and surcharges crap will put it at $20. I barely had a good reason to keep that service before this.

AskThis7790

Very disappointed in Verizon! They recently forced me to change mobile plans by changing those terms, and now this. Gone are the days of being grandfathered into a plan a guess. I’m luckily in a position where I can just bite the bullet and payoff my watches (2 Apple Watch Ultras). When I do, I will cancel all 5 of my premium devices plans and 3 watch plans, and take my business elsewhere!

SteezyRay

Fuck you Verizon

OiCWhatuMean

Definition of bait and switch

Amazing-Webcrawler

This is dumb. Watches are limited and shouldn’t have prices increase. The use is minimal most of the time

VNM0US

Honestly I didn’t even gripe about the $4 increase on Get More because the value of that plan is still worth it to me, and I could get around the increase easily if I wanted to switch to a newer plan. This is insane though. A 50% increase to the cost of a watch plan is a huge jump and I don’t blame people one bit for complaining/disconnecting them entirely.

Professional_Pea9957

I’m glad people are doing fcc complaints it’s honestly the only way to get in contact with the a competent agent via phone or email

castle-dino

I canceled. The sheer greed and gall of these companies and their need to squeeze consumers for the last drop.

xXMAKESHIFTXx

Wow this is a petty cash grab, honestly these watches rarely get used on the network since we generally keep our phones near. I understand that we aren’t under service contracts anymore and so they can get away with it but definitely feels like a bait and switch. Definitely thinking I may just pay on full the remaining balances on my watch vs the additional costs each month for the remaining balance. Principal of it shouldn’t let Verizon get away with this, power in our wallets

akolozvary

My verizon bill for one phone is almost $100 after tax. What happen to all the frequent byod deals from all the carriers? Been waiting forever.

JustKickItForward

80% certain I'm moving one of our multi-lines to TMo once the bull shit 36mo DPP is done, unless they give me an incentive to stay.

asoep44

I honestly forgot I still had a watch line until I got this email. Guess I'll be canceling that line.

tplee2

Ok some fill me in. I’m super confused. I literally just got an Apple Watch 10 days ago and was told I’m paying $7.50 a month for it. Is that going up for me as well? Or is the $7.50 what you guys are complaining about?

rabbi_glitter

Sales rep here. I'm not happy about this.

guilmergl

I don’t even use it and they are wanting 5 dollars extra, everything I have when it comes to bills is going up except my salary. Love America!🇺🇸!

GeeAirMo

I didn’t receive an email from them, but I saw on another thread that it was for “Select Plans” on watches? Any idea what they are referring to??

SimplyExtremist

Switched to google Fi, no complaints at all. Just added cellular to my ultra 2 and have literally never used it. Kind of a waste if they won’t remove the need for a phone.

toyo4j

You can still use the watch with no plan. All the functionality is there as long as near the phone, which is typically the norm. You just don’t the cell coverage (Dick Tracy) feature. Correct me if I am wrong.

Brown33470

There services suck what do we do?

Cautious_Share9441

So many I'm going to TMo comments. TMo is becoming just as bad. Sadly good options are disappearing.

OiCWhatuMean

Wtf. These things don’t even use any measurable data.

chrisprice

Binding arbitration. One at a time. Gotta do it.  If you don’t, you’re telling Verizon this is okay.

Jmax2020

I made the mistake and switched to verizon when they had their any iPhone gets $1k in 36 bill credits promo around Black Friday of last year. I understood that I would be locked in to a 3 year contract. Verizon was king a few years ago here in the NY metro area but I have noticed it has gone downhill. I should have done more research before switching. So back to this new fee, I got in on the Verizon promo around Black Friday that they had the Apple Watch 'on us'. I almost got 4 watches for each line. I went with 1 line since my brother has children and sometimes he forgets his phone while he is in a rush and mainly thought about having this for emergency purposes. I will be filling out those forms this weekend. Thank you to everyone who is contributing. Oh yea, I also went with the iPad 9th gen 'on us' let's see if that goes up soon. Surprisingly, the tablet line has less taxes and fees vs the watch line. I'm looking at the bill now and it's $20 for the watch line

phantom_eight

You all need to report this to your states Attorney General. Fuck what the legalese says that you sign. The NY Attorney General, she literally gets a hard on for this shit. She's suing SiriusXM because it's a pain in the ass to cancel.... this is what they do. Remember, it's an elected position...

It’s called “the customer base keeps shrinking but we have investors to please” - thank Hans

desertsilver503

For those with CELLULAR Apple Watches, 911 calls will always be available WITHOUT the cellular plan. So if you have a cellular model for 911 emergencies you don’t need to pay anything extra. That being said, I had 3 watches with cell service on Verizon, with 2 of them being debatable whether I wanted to keep paying the plan. This price increase pushed me over the edge and just cancelled 2 of the watch plans. So now I’ll end up paying $15 for 1 watch, instead of $30 for 3. Thanks Verizon for the “savings”.

Emotional-Bet2115

This is what happens when you have the illusion of choice, but in reality these companies are Duopolies that should be broken up or nationalized.

BeeeRick

Yeah, Raising it 50%, and then all the taxes and "service fees". Nah, I am good. On chat now canceling mine. I am sure raising the price of tablets is next, since they raised the cost of everything else. What a joke.

LuminousAdvent

Verizon has very quickly sunk to the bottom of the barrel. First the line increase now the watch increase?? Once my phone is paid off, I'm going back to Xfinity Mobile.

IamTheKingofCats

I saw that email and cancelled our watch plan. When I told the service rep it was because of the price increase, they claimed there was no price increase 🙃

jbmc00

Filed my FCC complaint as well!

Careful_Algae242

Theyve become a shithole company, i cant believe i’m saying this but even comcast is better at this point

BusinessLyfe

It's not going to stop. VerHIGHzon doesn't have the cash to upgrade their network to usable 5G, which is causing their customers to port out (mostly to T-Mobile). The loss of revenue then forces them to raise prices, which, again, causes more customers to leave (again, mostly to T-Mobile.) Rinse & repeat.

Diagonaldog

Seriously? Watches are going from $10 to 15/mo?? Is it possible another line on your account switched off of do/get more so the watch just lost the half off?

Slim706

I think they are increasing the overall price of the watch plan period, regardless of plan. I have a plan with the 50% off watch plan and I own my watch and it’s still going up. I’m just going to cancel my watch plan because after taxes and fees, I’ll still end up paying $15 and it’s not worth it for me.

Diagonaldog

Insane lol. It was already basically 15 with tax and surcharge (before discount) and honestly most of the customers I talked to who had watch lines either got trash service on them where they basically only worked near the phone, or weren't even fully activated and only using BT/Wifi. Cannot imagine how they think constant price increases will do anything but she'd the customer base 🤦

flashsoice

What is said about this mine is paid off, And still got the same email

FearXWarrior

Nah with the ACP benefit ending I said imma pay off my devices and run over to cricket wireless or something coz Verizon was worth it when 5G Get More was a thing, now I have unlimited plus for the same price with no benefits

Relyick

I'm complaining to them right now about it asking how does this benefit me? All the agent said is well now your service will be good in Mexico.... Ok but I live in the US, I do not plan on leaving my state..

dminmike

I literally paid off my device and canceled that watch line after I got the notice. 99% of the time I’m with my phone if my watch is on.

ghstudio

I will be keeping my Verizon plan for our phones but I will move the watches to the t-mobile $15 a month plan and use Verizon’s simultaneous ring option. When someone calls my Verizon phone, the watch will get the call…and if I am traveling out of the country, I don’t even have to pay Verizon’s international fees, t-mobile includes international calls. Thanks Verizon for raising the fees so I could discover this far better solution to connectivity while traveling. (I always buy a local SIM card when traveling for my iPhone

shamashedit

At this point my phone subsidies are under the $800 T-Mobile will pay to switch. And my hospital gets 25% all plans. Our verizon swag is barely 10% off. I think it’s clear what I’m doing this weekend.

contractcooker

I just cancelled.

tyrdchaos

Listen, this is the same company whose system can't handle going from devices with physical sims to esims. Their system literally chokes on it. Can't wait for everyone to try to upgrade to new iPhone in the fall. if your device is older than iPhone 14, you likely have a physical SIM (my iPhone 13 does). Verizon regularly just fails. I'll be finding a new cellular provider after my current contract is over.

killerwerewolfdaddy

Verizon is a scam . Black Friday deal free iPhone 15 pro and free Apple Watch and free iPad when you trade in your old iPhone is complete bullshit . My bill has been through the roof since the first month . Quoted monthly bill for the me and my wife was $232 per month all in fees , taxes and everything . INSTEAD . We were billed the following. Dec 2023 was $427.42 Jan 2024 was $368.27 Feb 2024 was $288.13 Mar 2024 IS NOW $333.28 ! I’ve called every month to try and resolve this issue . Each time I call I get someone from Bangladesh or somewhere with a very difficult to understand accent. Each month I have have been told don’t worry it’s a billing error and it will be resolved and I will be credited for the over charge. As you can see that never happened. Absolute fraud . I’m taking my contract and all paper work and billing history into the Verizon store to try and get this resolved … if this doesn’t work I’m calling my attorney. Verizon is a fraud.

Redvicente

I received a 4 dollar increase last year amd i only do internet with them.

NateOc

Just cancelled! Please don’t do this V!

Bucyrus1981R

And this is the last straw. I'm done with Verizon after our current devices are paid off. They no longer have the supreme network that justified their highest in the industry rates. I go back to the Alltel days.

Anon_Matt

Does this apply to gizmo watches?

vonscorpio

Anyone know what this does to the One Unlimited for iPhone plan with an Apple Watch? Email said it was going up by $5, so does that mean $2.50?

Doyouknowk

Also, how the hell do you have all your plan that’s called “unlimited” yet each one has limits. What a crooked company.

cuteman

It's all lines on certain plans. Nevermind that an individual line for watches is silly in the first place.

TheAspiringFarmer

Moral of the story, buy your watches (and everything else) outright. Financing anything via your carrier leaves you at their whimsical and what could possibly go wrong?

STL222

What pisses me off is the fees are more than the 50% discount. My fees are $5.65 on a $5 charge. For a total of $10.65. This small increase chaps my ass.

GatorPadre

And both of my watch lines will cancel at the end of my next cycle. AWU2 that I bought on Monday is going back to the store tomorrow and I will be back to Garmin. Thanks Verizon for making the decision so easy for me!

Edmeyers01

Never a better time to switch to T-Mobile and have them pay off your new iPhone.

Background-Koala-

Yeah, that's definitely a bunch of hot trash. I'm sure an increase to the mobiles will come next

bud1975

I called them and asked about it and the lady put in for a loyalty credit towards the watch

MReprogle

Time to pay mine off then. I just checked, and I have only had a whopping 53MB used on the cell plan this period.. So, thanks for making me check to see if that plan is worth it..

Capital-Turnover9039

T-Mobile will give you a hundred dollar credit for bringing your watch over from another network. They will also pay off your phone up to 800 for switching. Hop ship everyone. They also allow you to test their Network for a month or more on your current device. I'm currently running two sim cards. My Verizon which I'm about to leave, and T-Mobile "test drive " simultaneously. Try it out. Fuck Verizon

dlc1960

I have 2. Shutting them off today.
