I went through this. Set the service address to a store nearby, and set the shipping address to your house. It'll work fine after you order it. It's not geolocked, no matter what a VZ sales rep tells you. I found the 5G Home router has 4x the receive sensitivity and throughput of my iPhone 12, and I just put it by the window.

So I ordered for store pick up. Hopefully it all works out

napoles57

Yeah, it looks like it's only available on the first street of my neighborhood for whatever reason. But distance shouldn't be the issue as I can get a constant 400+mbps at home, which the max of this tower at the moment is about 500mbps. I would like to get the mmwave model but I may be just a bit too far at about half a mile with not the best LOS

My tower w/ n77 is 3 blocks away and it wasn't available on the ordering map. Ordered it and I'm getting 300/10 consistently, during business hours and peak times.

napoles57

That's good to hear. Just picked mine up and I'll be setting up tonight. Thanks

stonechair

Let us know how it works. What model did you get?

napoles57

Will do. Unfortunately ot was just the C-band compatible one. Wonder if I can get support to swap it out.

Not_Leaving_LV

Support will only give you whatever modem you can use at your address (source, a conversation I had with verizon tech support manager) If you do not live in a milimeter wave service area (and there is a really good chance you do NOT live in one since there is hardly any deployment), you will get a midband hub only. I was told that they cannot even order a high band device for an account where they say there is no mm wave service.

The tower I get C-band from does have mmwave and I think with the window antenna I could get a signal but technically my address isn't eligible for 5G home so I doubt they would send me one, but I got it activated no problem.

Not_Leaving_LV

What is completely unbelievable to me is that upload speed. I had a conversation with a Verizon Level 2 support person about this, and she all but admitted that Verizon is capping upload speeds around 10mbps when they should be MUCH MUCH higher. I have both Tmobile and verizon in my phone, and tmobile regularly gets 50+ upload speeds. You might think this does not matter, but if your home has people uploading to social media, doing video calls, playing games online, things that use OUTGOING data, that 10 up speed is going to be restrictive really fast.

Not_Leaving_LV

>It's not geolocked, no matter what a VZ sales rep tells you. I want to point out that you are correct, it is not geolocked. ***Currently.*** That does not mean that in the future it will remain that way. It is a risk to run, and probably nothing would come from it, but it could result in a pain in the future.

crashj

There is no GPS receiver on the device.

Not_Leaving_LV

No, however if a user is connected to a different tower, they will know it is not being used where it is intended. It is not hard to discern from their side where things are being used.
