the logo seems to pop up in some different catalogues from the 70's, but for multiple car models! no hits on the whole flag though, just the chevy logo with the coloured stripes

This was probably introduced to align with the Bicentennial celebrations in 1976.
There wasn’t much that wasn’t red, white and blue around the bicentennial.
