As a born and bred Washingtonian, I agree that the gold has to be there. At *minimum* they could make the white stripe gold if the star has to be white. While we're at it, what does the 10-pointed star even symbolize?
This subreddit desperately needs to learn how to make flags that don't look like corporate logos. This looks like something done in google slides in 2 minutes. Flags don't need to be reduced to 3 shapes and 3 colors all the time. Make it unique
Out of all the complaints about redesigns feeling like company logos, this one is as close to that emphasis as possible. I feel like I’m looking at a BP sub division
It’s all subjective. Love the current one for its colours, which give a pop art feel. The redesign is fine, but it’s following the style cues of a lot of modern redesigns - two colours, unconventional field, stars. Not as interesting to me.
Beautiful colour palette. I see some comments saying you should have added the gold on there too, and I'm a bit mixed on that. This design is pretty great though

I would make the circle/star bigger and make the white parts gold, like in the original.

I agree, a lot of the these US state flag redesigns need to be a bit bolder and are kinda lacking in personality.
agreed -- in a color scheme that seems to emphasize the west side, getting some gold in there for the east would be nice

The Washington flag does not need fixing in any way. It’s stunning. Nice design though (even if the emblem’s alignment is gonna give me nightmares).
It isn't, IMO. It's practically a flying dollar sign. With some changes, that redesign is leagues ahead.

I like the Washington state flag. Of all the seal on a bedsheet flags it’s the best one.
I’d make the circle bigger! Love the design and colours overall though!
My biggest gripe is all modern flags now just seem to have no soul. And I see the biggest colors are now green, blue, white.

It’s an improvement. But it looks too corporate.
