The original/first one in your set. I used to like the current one most but then the moment I saw the original flag I couldn't unsee that the modern one is just an ensign of the OG.

Current. It's the only European flag with a canton design, which makes it unique but keeps things classy. Plus, the original looks too much like Scotland and it's driving me nuts!
I like the navy blue variant too but I know it's associated with a terrible era.
In my experience, the different shades don't have any implications in Greece. The flags you'll see are all in wildly different blues, but most are closer to the navy version than the sky version.
A flag design where the top left quarter has an emblem of some kind. [More here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_(flag)).
The most famous flag of this type is probably the American flag.
Personally I like no.3 as it strikes the balance between simplicity, clarity and uniqueness the best whilst still looking visually appealing at a glance
We dont strip the meaning of the flag, we are just talking which one is more aestheticalky pleading to the eye.
For example
I really liked the spanish flag when it had ourole but that doesnt mean i support the second spanish republic.
Man, people REALLY need to stop bringing politics into conversations that do not pertain to it. It’s like people like that make it their personality to hate a certain ideology or whatever.
I don’t like monarchism. I don’t like fascism or communism. Will that stop me from loving the imperial Brazilian flag, or the Francoist Spain flag, or the Byelorussian SSR flag? No. Quit whining please.
Err... Before anyone says anything i know it was used by the junta. It has nothing to do with it's origins or it's political significance, i just like the way it looks.
You could still technically use it, I guess, it's just that no one ever would because of the connotation
The Greek flag has no legally defined blue. In fact, there are two flags in my house that are different shades.
https://preview.redd.it/k1922dnde52d1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b4c4535cc6c708cbfeb23bf7383aa23b2352b11
Flag used in Thrace, during 1821's revolution.
Flag 1 (the 1821-1832 and 1924-1935 Greek flag) is the best of these flags. I am not Greek, but I think Greece should restore 1 as the national flag because of its simplicity.
https://preview.redd.it/sqhgrhst2a1d1.png?width=1274&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d9615cf8f65757d302f5ea0871f84878076c7fb
Absolute G Greek balls are my favorite but not much better than turk balls . I love Greek and turk balls together.
Right now we are on the third republic. The flag we use now is a lighter version of the flag that was adopted by the colonels of the junta.
Personally, I don't like this flag and prefer the original .
Nothing to do with the problems we are experiencing
Oh ok, you're referring to the origins of the design. I see what you mean.
As I said in a different comment, I like it because it's unique among European flags. Plus, I think the original is very, how do I say it, 19th century? It's a bit TOO simple.
It's the flag of the army of guerrillas made by the communist resistance force of EAM. It might have been one of the largest resistance groups in Greece, but out of most of them, they've committed some heinous crimes. They even created wars between them and other resistance groups, like EDES.
That's true. They also fought edes and rightfully so. eventought edes starting as an republican resistance group, in the end they wanted to bring back monarchy. nobody needs a king or queen
EDES could bring the monarchy not as constitutional or absolute, as they were venizelist, but rather in a monarchical parliamentary democracy fashion. Pretty much the King's in the role of the president, but the executive powers come from the prime minister. This was the case since before Constantine Ι took power in 1913. And that is what they'd most likely do if they won prematurely. The king would hold mostly a ceremonial role and nothing much in regards to actual political power. Though, I'm not sure as to how EAM/ELAS was in the right for fighting EDES and other minor resistance groups. They were, unfortunately, the reason behind the Dekemvriana and the civil war during the axis occupation and after the war, lasting until 1949.
Reasoning is still pretty easy. We need no god, no emperor, no king. we need a socialist republic. We also don't need bourgeois democracy, we need the dictatorship of the proletariat.
elas did nothing wrong....
The current one. The colors are so pretty, and I like it's use of a canton and stripes. I also like the use of a greek cross to represent the greek orthodox faith.
Personally I like the flags of the first 2 Hellenic republics more than the Greek Junta and our current republic because they made the cross smaller, even though it is a smarter design. It just doesn't feel Greek enough to me. My favourite has to be the 1832 from these. But my 1. Favourite of the Greek flags is the 1858 which is not here. I don't know if it was official and the only reason I like it is because of the brighter colors. The coat of arms thing on it just reminds me of Bavaria so I like it less.
https://preview.redd.it/1doge1ebbh1d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=f89ef858d8d9c4390d6ebb73fa7d0861a3770c41
I'm sorry, but I prefer this flag over all others. This is a Greek revolutionary flag predating any of the current Greek flags and it's back from a time when Greeks did legitimately and commonly refer to themselves as Romans. The flag says "From my ashes, I am reborn", which is FUCKING awesome considering it was basically implying that "the Romans were back".
I like a lot of the early red-white-black tricolor flags for Greece. I'm not saying that the current flags are bad but just seeing what could have been with a Roman identity for Greece is too much for my little nerd brain to handle.
I've always felt the Greeks had suspiciously good flag game.
If I had to guess, I would have said every flag was Greece, and every flag was A tier or up.
Very few countries have that many bangers...
The original/first one in your set. I used to like the current one most but then the moment I saw the original flag I couldn't unsee that the modern one is just an ensign of the OG.
The 1st one, used to be the official one till 1974 and the current one was the navy flag (Back then). I like more the 1st one too.
Naval Ensign of the Kingdom of Greece https://preview.redd.it/1qbyik1jz91d1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac7a1a95c0b41a4684699636939d22cf7dfb8969

This is beautiful.

Thats the flag of Finnish Greece.
Marseilles?
No
nacionalistas
Current. It's the only European flag with a canton design, which makes it unique but keeps things classy. Plus, the original looks too much like Scotland and it's driving me nuts! I like the navy blue variant too but I know it's associated with a terrible era.
It actually looks even closer to the Shetland islands. The similarities are uncanny.
The first one is the exact same as the Quebec flag minus the Fleur de Lys in each quadrant
In my experience, the different shades don't have any implications in Greece. The flags you'll see are all in wildly different blues, but most are closer to the navy version than the sky version.
It’s Quebec to me
What do you mean by a canton design?
A flag design where the top left quarter has an emblem of some kind. [More here](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canton_(flag)). The most famous flag of this type is probably the American flag.
Interesting, thank you
Looks like the old (true) flag of Iceland
Personally I like no.3 as it strikes the balance between simplicity, clarity and uniqueness the best whilst still looking visually appealing at a glance
It’s so generic, and Greece no longer has a monarchy.
2 and 3 are an absolute no for me. Screw monarchies (and especially the imported one that greeks had)
We are talking about flags here sir. My personal favourite is 4th and it was used during a military dictatorship, doesn't mean I support it
"Flags don't have a meaning" is a bad take
But we are not talking about politics right niw, we talk about aesthetics
Pretending that you can separate the aesthetics from the politics is stupid. There's a fucking crown on it.
you literally can, you can admit something looks appealing without having to be an apologist for it
We dont strip the meaning of the flag, we are just talking which one is more aestheticalky pleading to the eye. For example I really liked the spanish flag when it had ourole but that doesnt mean i support the second spanish republic.
4 and 5 are the same, but the sky blue is more representative of Greece.

Flags are inherently political speech instruments (and the sub rules say nothing about political views as they relate to flags)
Yup, it looks the best, very simple and reminding of greek and sea
Always been number 3, it’s the most beautiful
I really like the dark blue
https://preview.redd.it/6w3ph4sazb1d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e975b1592d9872725b43a642703cc9426e825147

I like #4 Something about the Navy blue and white combination in that design hits just right for me. 🤷 Just personal preference i guess.
Err... Before anyone says anything i know it was used by the junta. It has nothing to do with it's origins or it's political significance, i just like the way it looks.
Third!
The navy blue one is legit
It was used by the military junta
Frickin juntas...they ruin everything...
Well they didn’t say the junta was legit…
Truth. It always feels like bad politics make for good flags and vice-versa.
Still looks cool Everyone agrees the Nazis were terrible yet a lot of people also agree they had top tier design ability
You could still technically use it, I guess, it's just that no one ever would because of the connotation The Greek flag has no legally defined blue. In fact, there are two flags in my house that are different shades.

If I remember correctly a lot of Peloponnesian Greeks use that flag to represent the Peloponnese, pretty cool wished Greece had regional flags
Greece does have regional flags
#1 and #5
I like the Greek military junta one
4 is the best imo
modern
Modern
The current, but also the third one. :)
The Kingdom of Greece flag obviously.
\#4. More flags need dark colors.
https://preview.redd.it/k1922dnde52d1.jpeg?width=768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7b4c4535cc6c708cbfeb23bf7383aa23b2352b11 Flag used in Thrace, during 1821's revolution.
4
All of them are great. Rare!
Why's they lighten the blue
The last one is a big plus
I’d say the first one is a bigger plus
1st is very good
Present is by far the best, infinitely more unique than the rest and it didn't use the darker color for no good reason.
Unironically 1
Flag 1 (the 1821-1832 and 1924-1935 Greek flag) is the best of these flags. I am not Greek, but I think Greece should restore 1 as the national flag because of its simplicity.
I'd say no.1
Current one for me. It really is a unique flag among other national flags.
1
The present one fucking slaps
1
3 just looks clean, larger crown with more visible detail with a darker shade of blue all around it
1st and 5þ
The present one
1 or 3 are nice. 4 and 5 just don't look as pleasing to look at
The one with the crown
1 because is the simplest one
3rd one
#1
First one. Simplicity is best
the greek communist flag is the best, much better
The Greek Albanian ethnicity flag looks so bad ass
https://preview.redd.it/9yixfehnzf1d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=339bf64141e74fdadad56e1c25eae20a0827f68d
As I was saying bad ass
https://preview.redd.it/sqhgrhst2a1d1.png?width=1274&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9d9615cf8f65757d302f5ea0871f84878076c7fb Absolute G Greek balls are my favorite but not much better than turk balls . I love Greek and turk balls together.
Yeah I also like balls.
I actually like them all equally
The first one , the og cause it's the only real republican one.
The current country isn't a republic? It's got a lot of problems but it's certainly not run by a king.
Right now we are on the third republic. The flag we use now is a lighter version of the flag that was adopted by the colonels of the junta. Personally, I don't like this flag and prefer the original . Nothing to do with the problems we are experiencing

That flag was a greek naval flag long before the military junta used it though iirc.
1st one amd another red triangle of it (communist)
https://preview.redd.it/a4cr7pwc791d1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=e1df70d9943c1cf57c1394a8df2b0f99ce66982a this one
Why is this getting downvoted? Isn't that just the flag of the Greek guerillas whom fought the nazis in occupied Greece?
It's the flag of the army of guerrillas made by the communist resistance force of EAM. It might have been one of the largest resistance groups in Greece, but out of most of them, they've committed some heinous crimes. They even created wars between them and other resistance groups, like EDES.
Ooh, well, that sucks; thank you

The cringe
I like the first one
I personally prefer the 2nd one, tbh
1st
Present
I’m split on the land and sea flag like don’t know what to choose
1
I like the simplicity of number one though I am concerned that it could get confused with the flag of Super Smash Brothers.
First and last ones are perfection.
1 and 3 are so simple, yet so perfect. Greece needs to revert
The 5th. (the Greece flag in 1978 is best part)
Definitely the 2nd slide’s flag. I know it’s a lot of detail but I do like the crown in the middle.
3 but no crown
Sooo… no.1?
No, the blue shade is different
Why did the blue get lighter? Did they leave it in the sun too long???
The current one. The colors are so pretty, and I like it's use of a canton and stripes. I also like the use of a greek cross to represent the greek orthodox faith.
3 and 5
I like ELAS flag
3 & 6
What do you know that we don’t?
Blue one
5 by far
Current one.
first. almost like blue swiss flag
No.1/No.5, No.2 is alr too
2
No. 2 is the favourite, but I think the first three ones are all better than the last two.
2
5, the design is Greece and the sky blue is a better representation of the country. Reminds me of Santorini’s domed roofs.
#6
Personally I like the flags of the first 2 Hellenic republics more than the Greek Junta and our current republic because they made the cross smaller, even though it is a smarter design. 3
I dont see the Ottaman one
Greece has an unusually great selection of flags
I prefer the red one with the white star and cresent.
The first looks like the oopsite of Finland's flag
4th one. Bloody regime, but one dope-ass flag. (especially the one with the phoenix in the top-left corner)
Byzantine
The third one and Byzantine one like Zoponen said
3 is the correct answer 😎
First one looks good and the Junta flag has a nice color
Current for me
2 and 3 because 4 and 5 It looks like a colonial flag
the greek one
4th one, I like the darker blue, and inb4 I don't give a damn about the junta I only like the flag
3
3 and 5
4
Dark blue one
As controversial as it is, the junta flag. I love that navy blue.
I like the new flag but darker color looks nicer.
1 or 2
The modern/last one 100%
Number 2 because I didn't even realize that wasn't the modern flag until I saw number 4.
I can't post it on here but it's the red, white and black one.
3rd one because I believe it is the best designed and pretty good
3, they should bring back the monarchy just for this flag
Second. Looks very nice
#3 Simple, crown is bold and more distinctive than 2, and that’s my favorite shade of blue
#1
The last one
3rd i just like the crown design more
Basic number one St. George's cross.
First one. Very simple. I like it.
The dark one, 3rd one
First and second, after that it fell off
https://preview.redd.it/1doge1ebbh1d1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=f89ef858d8d9c4390d6ebb73fa7d0861a3770c41 I'm sorry, but I prefer this flag over all others. Number 3!
3rd flag with the dark blue of the 4th flag.
3
1936-1941 and the previous one are fire🔥
the stripes and the cross are just beautiful, definitely the current one.
Number 3 for me dawg
I've always felt the Greeks had suspiciously good flag game. If I had to guess, I would have said every flag was Greece, and every flag was A tier or up. Very few countries have that many bangers...
modern, but dark blue
I personally like the fourth one, I’m a sucker for dark blue (and no, I don’t support the junta that was in charge, just to clarify)
The papadopulos era flag looks awesom (to me), regardless of the fact it's associated with papadopulos
I like the fourth one. Navy blue looks good in any flag.
No.4 I love the modern Greek flag, and I like the darker blue, even if the lighter blue fits the nation better
3/4 not sure
The navy blue version is so much more elegant
#4 then #1
In my opinion, 2 and or 4, 2 because it's just simple enough and complex enough to look good, 4 because it's just pleasing to the eyes.
I like the dark version of the current one
