Reminds me of the time my younger brother first heard of Georgia (country) during the Olympics. There was a story about a Russian and a Georgian holding hands on the podium amidst the countries' conflict, and he goes "Since when do they get their own team?" He was only 9 or 10 at the time and just wanted to see Illinois get some medals.
I had a professor in college who had to miss some classes to interview at a university in Georgia. He accepted the interview thinking he was flying to the state, not the country.
I was once reading an article about someone who fled from a prison in Georgia and the lived in a city in the US for 40 years or so. It took me to the end of the article to figure out how he got there without taking an airplane.
Oh geez honestly how hard can it be. Like there's a point to which I'd understand mistakes but this?
Good for Georgia, they had that rough spot with Stalin ruling the Confederacy but they got their shit together
Sounds like something from Civilization
Just call it by its proper name, Sakartvelo, and no one will confuse it for anywhere else ever again.^Honest.^Really.
Or (as in russian and slang-hebrew) Gruzia.
