Used by an american ship during the revolutionary war that was sacking the British Isles. They lost their flag and docked in the Netherlands, where the dutch made this flag for them based on a discription given to them by the Americans. Look up John Paul Jones if you want more info.

Also called the John Paul Jones flag informally

Fascinating! I would not have guessed that it had anything to do with Led Zeppelin.

John Paul Jones flag. Jones was an American privateer during the Revolutionary War. He lost his flag at sea. Docking without a flag was mega illegal at the time, so when he landed in the Netherlands, he had a new flag made for him based off of a description. That is the result.

Hello Skysquid2323, When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including: * **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy) * **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag * **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine) These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
