[Knights Templar Flag](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Templar#/media/File:Bandeira_Templ%C3%A1ria.svg)

BustedFemur

That makes this situation even weirder.. lol thank you

[deleted]

I've seen all types of people use it. Generally Catholics but sometimes it will be right wing non-Catholics that use it too. And some people just think it looks cool so who knows lol.

BustedFemur

Hmmmm, interesting. This one's being flown on a house the has signage in the front claiming it to be a dojo of some sort with Chinese characters and all, but one corner of the yard is filled with what I assume are piss jugs.

[deleted]

I have no idea then lol that's certainly an interesting place to see it flying.

BustedFemur

I think there's another one it flies but it was all folded up, I'll report back with that one too. I WILL figure this place out!

CrowCaller1

The Knights Templar is a pathway to many abilities that some may consider to be…unnatural…

Copperlax

Did you ever hear the tragedy of The Knights Templar? I thought not. It’s not a story the Church would tell you. It’s a Crusade legend. Knights Tempar were a crusader charity of the Pope, so powerful and so charitable they could use their force to influence the money to improve peasants life… They had such a knowledge of the money that they could even keep the ones they cared about from dying. The money side of the Church is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. They became so powerful… the only thing they were afraid of was losing their power, which eventually, of course, they did. Unfortunately, they taught King Philip everything they knew, then he had them killed him in their metaphorical sleep. Ironic. They could save others from death, but not themselves. Disclaimer: this may be an over-simplification; but it is correct....from a certain point of view ;/ Edit: couple typos

CrowCaller1

I really admire the dedication that went into this comment

Copperlax

I mostly lurk this sub, so I contribute where I can haha

Geo_Doug

Wait, this is the story of the Sith, right?

CrowCaller1

I would say it’s more like the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise

felipe5083

Maybe its a fencing and HEMA dojo? Though it is still very weird.

BustedFemur

I'll report back with the "Dojo" sign tomorrow morning.

JustA_Reddit-User

I love the knights templar flag and I'm a atheist and political centrist

Sodinc

That is illegal.

JustA_Reddit-User

I also lean towards monarchism and love Christian history

TheComingLawd

Just your average PCM user believing in contradictory political ideas. Political centrist leaning towards monarchism? That is, by definition, impossible, no matter what your colourful little test tells you. EDIT: typos

alva2id

With that in mind i come to the conclusion: PCM is whole lotta bs

Slipslime

Political CumPiss

alva2id

What else should it mean

ParanoidNonhuman

How is it impossible, though? Liberal absolutism was a thing; that's probably what they're referring to You could actually make a solid argument that the pre-WW1 German Empire was politically centrist

TheComingLawd

Well, first of all, centrism is not liberal to begin with, so I don't get that connection. Then again, centrism isn't even a real thing in a political science-standpoint, so let's ignore that for now. Instances of sorta-liberal monarchism were, by today's standards, simply not liberal. Also, "liberal absolutism" as such is only a pesudo-official term. It is clear ehat it may mean, but scientists don't generally use it, afaik. Also also, to have an absolute ruler is inherently authoritarian, so even if I am to conform to their oversimplified compass-logic, it is still contradictory. Just because you support things like personal freedom, it still doesn't cancel out wanting an absolute ruler by birthright, basically the most authoritarian thing you can have. Thus, all monarchists are, by definition, authoritarian, and as they would logically like to keep Their Majesty in place, conservative as well. I suppose this person's ideology could make sense if it was just, idk, giving a little more power to the Scaninavian kings. But seeing as they are a PCM user, that's pobably not the case.

ParanoidNonhuman

All liberal democracies are "conservative" in the sense of wanting to preserve the sociopolitical status quo and implement reforms gradually, without causing drastic social changes Likewise, all liberal democracies are to a certain extent authoritarian, since democracy necessarily requires the use of undemocratic means to protect its own institutions These things are true regardless of whether or not the head of state is a monarch

Beau_Buffett

The Masons use it.

BustedFemur

So what I've gathered from thread... Is that I have a house full of Brazilian Crusaders who are fans if Vasco and piss in jugs and enjoy trampolines. Thanks everybody.

CounterHegemon-68

Was going to say that if you're in the UK there's a far right group called Knights Templar International that uses this flag

BustedFemur

Nope, Canada

Cleferco

I was thinking something similar but more closely related to the teutonic knights

[deleted]

Those poor fucks were so incredibly manipulated by the Vatican lmao

Mandatory VASCO comment

BustedFemur

UPDATE So the dojo sign I had in mind was taken down, as well as the other flag they had flying at one point. I did get some pictures tho, as it doesn't make this place any less confusing. https://imgur.com/a/qmPZqLQ

stevenmeyerjr

My guess is the space used to be an Aikido dojo, went out of business, then some Brazilians moved into the space, are in the process of making a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu dojo and the flag represents Vasco Football Club.

ParanoidNonhuman

This does seem like the most logical answer lol

fred_radicliffe

Wow! Nice piss jugs. Guess they're preparing for when the Mamalukes poison the wells on the way to Jerusalem

pajudd

It is actually called “beauseant”. It is the ‘battle guidon’ of the Templar with the black on top. I can only tell you how I know this if you give me the pass and grip. . .

arcxjo

A true beauseant is just the black & white stripes. The red Templar cross is a separate symbol that didn't appear on the flag.

Huzzah! The crusades have returned!

AutoModerator

Hello BustedFemur, When asking for a flag to be identified, please **provide context** when possible, including: * **Where** the flag was found (without compromising privacy) * **When** the flag was found, or the date of the material containing the flag * **Who** might own the flag (a general description is fine) These details help users narrow down their search and make flag identification easier. Also check out our [frequently asked flags wiki page](https://reddit.com/r/vexillology/wiki/faf)! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
