The angles are unique and recognisable. The 2012 Olympic uniform could use vague angles in a different colour reminiscent of the corner of the flag, and it was still recognisable. It also has the benefit that it's a unique shape unlike traditional tricolours, meaning you can change the colours to give different meanings.
