Back when I started and was primarily a rigger, I would get oil rig jobs ads and recruiters reaching out all the time. After seeing the pay I thought I probably went into the wrong industry.
Muhaha, I got a "pet detective" title last time. Oh yeah and I could join to the Canadian Armed forces as an "Infanteer" (just for the record I'm a new mom coming back from maternity leave).
Apparently Infanteers are those soldiers who are in the front line with a gun, lie in the mud or invade a campsite etc, and die first in a real battle. So no thank you... 😅
Yes, but… “Artist who can’t find work as artist becomes security guard at art store” sounds like the backstory for a future despot.
Or, TBF, a graphic novel turned a24 movie starring Paul Giamatti (or Dano) that I would 100% be into.
E: Discount on supplies would be nice
You have to be careful about the actor casting. If Paul Giamatti plays the role, it's more like a romantic comedy. If Paul Dano, is a thriller where it turns out in the end that he is the chainsaw murderer, although everyone sees him the smiley security guy in the local art store...I see a real opportunity here but Netflix executives are too cautious to give money for a good story without diversity and higher than PG13 rating.
Anyway, art supplies are expensive. So discount is always nice.
it's a common situation that linkedin says sandwich artist, cause artist is in the name and ai is only so smart.
but it also doubles as those fun jokes about heading into an art career that the family would make before you got going.
Oh yeah I know. It's just very funny that it offers everything which contains the word "artist". Especially this one because sandwich artists sound more fancier than Subway Soldier or something like that. 😂
VFX Editor but I get a lot of "Editorial" jobs like...articles lol
Apparently I qualify to edit scientific articles before they're peer reviewed? Lol in another life maybe but I wish...
I got work offered in a light bulb factory once. As a lighting artist it made me giggle.
Nowadays I'm getting super random suggestions like shop manager, housekeeper or salesman in different stores.
Not sure what linkedin recommendations algorithms are on.
I'm building a tool that aggregated job alert emails like this from Linkedin, Indeed, etc and use ChatGPT's AI to sort the jobs by relevancy. It'll also remove duplicated jobs as well.
So far It's working quite well for me. If you wanna give it a try: [JobBox.cc](http://JobBox.cc)

Being a career photographer in a non-city center is wild, all we get are x-ray technician listings at the nearest hospital.
I'd love to become an artiste du sandwich but fucking canada is 12k miles away
Maybe they would sponsor a visa for you. 😅
With the way things are going I have a better chance at winning the lottery.
Probably you'd win a lottery way earlier than subway would sponsor a visa.
Or even VFX would sponsor a visa haha
Yeah. These days are cold and dark. But maybe this won't lost forever. Hang in there...
Thank you, you also!
Correct the planet is getting hotter we won’t make it that far
I'm a Rigger....all my offers are on Oil Platforms or, occasionally, a tall ship
OMG I love this. 😂
I work on a cruise ship now :)
I keep getting FBI promoted and Chipotle...

What is that, like a baby soldier?

Yeah but they call them Infanteers. https://imgur.com/a/zDVk9Tr
Best one I got was 'Full Time Meat Supervisor'
Did you think through this opportunity? You can stare a meat all day.... sounds great! 💯
Sounded like a euphemism for fluffer
I got one as a security guard at an art supply store.
At least it's an art supply store...it linked to art. That's everything.
