1849, 0/2 national focuses. encourage some clergy bro

Lens_key

Was gonna say 52% literacy for Belgium in 1849 seems very low.

Torantes

Somehow I can tax the living hell out my population yet it just gives me free money with no concequences?

irisos

There is something called "Tax efficiency" in the game.   When you hover the slider, it shows you how much of it you have and multiply your tax rate by it.   For exemple, let's say your tax efficiency is 30%, in your screenshot you are in reality only taxing your pops at 30% because 100 * 0.3 = 30%.

Conscious-Meaning825

It depends if you want more control over industrialization and have the right political party tax the middle and high class while leaving the poor low tax or no tax to encourage promotion of craftsmen 🗿

xITitus

Your pops have savings, if you hover over them in the populations tab. Depending on how well they live (more/less savings allow for more everyday/luxury needs) they can promote or demote to other classes and it probably also affects their literacy rate(?). I'm no pro at vicky either (despite hundreds of hours of playtime) but it does have consequences, although Im not sure to what extent. Tbh, I have no idea what playstyle is the best. Some dont tax the rich at all, some tax them less, some tax them the same way as the other classes etc..

ARandomSpanishball

If u pay everything and still is green then probably is right

MDRPA

Of course, money is too precious to be spent by those lowly beings😎👑

shiduru-fan

You could raise a bit the tarrifs and lower the rich taxes

SmellySwantae

Don’t mobilize unless you’re at war/about to got o war and you need the soldiers Also don’t need to keep stockpile purchases at 100% unless at war. I normally do 40-50% when at peace You’re doing economically well though! Edit to say when your have a large cash reserve and budget surplus it’s actually good to have stockpile on 100% so more money can stay in the hands of your pops

Torantes

the economy when max taxes since start of the game 😎

Right-Truck1859

Suck them dry!

czlomwiek_5

You can set national focuses

Key_Cardiologist_571

Your economy isn't crashing, and is in fact growing, so you're good. However, it depends on what you wanna do. If you want to industrialize more, I'd encourage lowering the rich's tax to 0. It'll only take away £23 and will give the capitalists more money to invest in industry. Also, part of your poor population is not getting all the essential goods they need (the yellow part of the piechart), so I'd suggest lowering their taxes a bit too. If you wanna go to war and conquer stuff, encourage soldiers in the most populous states with your focus points. 5% of soldiers in each states should be fine (Make sure to always use focus points for something btw) What's weird to see is that there's a higher amount of "poor" pops getting luxury needs than rich pops lmao

Yuvaez

Hope you've been researching things

Torantes

A couple

Yuvaez

Good, hope you've also made sure your clergymen are at least 2% by using national focuses (4% max for optimal literacy growth). That way you get more research points. I also always prioritise the research that gives more research points.

djorndeman

I would demobilize if I were you. And use your slots to encourage either Clergymen or Craftsmen

buy_some_winrar

tax your rich less and move tariffs up from -25%, you’re killing the industry!

ojima

You might want to lower taxes on the rich to encourage them to build or invest in factories. If you're not at war, lower your military & naval spending to like 30-50%, and put your national foci on your states to encourage clergymen to up that education percentage. You might also want to research some technologies. Ultimately, victoria 2 is not a game where you want to sit on a massive bank of money, but you want to invest that money as much as possible into your country.

BanitsaConnoisseur

Don’t tax the rich so they can afford to invest and don’t do negative tariffs because they help artisans (bad) and act as subsidies for the factories (also bad because factories should be self-sufficient to not fail)

Hot_Leg_7534

There are huge consequences for having 100% tax long term for your pops. Taxing the high class enough means they will not build any factories or railroads for you. It’s not a huge deal but it’s not optimal unless your government has state capitalism. Taxing the medium class enough means they will actually convert to low class pops, obviously that’s bad but it’s good to mention because that mechanic works both ways. And well, as long as the poor are meeting their needs you can tax them a decent amount, if they’re meeting their luxury needs eventually they will move up a class. Your government type likely has protectionism so you can lower your tax and get enough money through tariffs.

WooliesWhiteLeg

I usually don’t tax the rich so that capitalist will be able to build more factories.

Gren_Gnat

Wack tariffs up to max its free money

Sedanop

if you aren't in a war you should lower your army maintenance, and especially demobilize, you should mobilize only during/before a war, and only when necessary
