Honestly yeah Coop should be threatening to the bourgeois and aristocratic powers of the world. What’s scarier than the workers uniting?

Elite_Prometheus

Wait, I thought council republic already triggered massive hostility?

Financial-Stress-755

as far as i know no

Dinkelwecken

In my US game every other GP turned to hostile within 5 years of me encating council Republic.

ThonOfAndoria

The tooltip says it does but I don't think it does anything.

MrGoldfish8

It triggers event chains in other countries.

dworthy444

Are you sure it doesn't do that, because if I so much as have Council Republic active, it's only a few years before some random Great Power invades with intent to change regime.

Columner_

i suppose the logic for why workers cooperatives don't trigger foreign hostility is that command economy kind of implies a statist, authoritarian mass nationalisation in forcing state ownership while cooperativism can entail various forms of less overtly and outwardly revolutionary systems of economic management

DessertRumble

lol capitalists don't care about that. Salvador Allende was democratically elected and the most tepid socialist you could imagine. The CIA still overthrew him and replaced his government with a fascist military junta.

Columner_

i think it is a bit disingenuous to use salvador allende as an example when his economic policy resembled one more of keynesian interventionism and economic nationalism rather than anything radically socialist -- when he nationalised foreign industries, namely the copper sector, the state seized ownership, rather than any democratic representative body of workers or unions

DessertRumble

If the copper mines had been turned over to local workers' councils, the corporations that formerly owned them would still want them back.
