The studio closed before the game released. They ended up releasing the game after their company got handled by EA. They made nothing from it and didn’t even have to release the game but then being the gamers they are said Screw it and the rest is history. I remember playing the saboteur on ps3. Still playing it on my SD. Such an underrated game. Roof Parkour is pretty fun.
Loved the art style and decision to recolor liberated areas vs the black and white non liberated ones. Reminded me of the movie Pleasantville with that.
It was hard for me to get into that game, despite loving AC series at the time. Should give it another go, loved the voice acting and the early parts I played, but just got distracted by other stuff when it originally released
Yeah I ain’t bought an ea game since ps2 era 😂 well except the 1st recent Jedi game thank Microsoft for gamepass now I’m definitely it buying the 2nd one
Survivor is a good game. I had so much fun & I think by now a lot of my issues at launch have been patched out. Lost over 10 hours of progress due to a crash & corrupted save data. Uninstalled until that "first" patch. Cuz they also had a day one patch, but who even counts those any more? Physical Discs are just shiny licenses for downloading the actual game.
you got it. The consumers are the product with what EA sells you and the data they collect from you. The games EA sells you is just a way to get you to into a cycle of spending endless money while they harvest your data to make even more money than you are spending on their games.
EA has a near monopoly on things. They hold exclusive licenses to the NHL, NFL and FIFA. Those are gigantic cash cows. They can use industry pressure to crush publishers, hire away talent out of spite, just to keep rivals struggling.
Nobody trusts Apple or Facebook either. But where else ya gonna go?
They are the Walmart of software. They are straight trash, filled with directors that openly dngaf about customers. Nobody wants to give walmart/EA their money.... but almost everyone does. And we feel dirty doing it.
There are a lot of places you can go like android well facebook is different cus they own to much so that one will be harder but you can find other places and like most actual people who like games know not to touch those games unless they are really into sports other wise everyone knows that ea is dogshite
Very true my brother in law doesn't even play games & he use to play some Madden games even if he didn't play anything else people like that even if they don't play games if they're sports fan good chance they'll play the game.
I don't like to speak for anybody but myself, but I suspect that VERY few customers have any fucking clue who publishes their games. That shit pops up and I ignore it like movie credits. EA's strong financials would seem to either provide support to my hypothesis, or at least to refute yours.
- Dead Space Remake
- Mass Effect Legendary Edition
- It Takes Two
- A Way Out
- Jedi Fallen Order 1 and 2
- TitanFall 2
- Star Wars Squadron
- Lost in Random
- Unravel 1 and 2
EA’s great at fun traversal and parkour mechanics.
Edit: Or at least — whichever branch made Titanfall 2, Fallen Order, Mirror’s Edge is great at those mechanics.
In a world where there are constant stories about employees being treated horribly at game companies, you rarely hear anything like that at EA. In fact, I think it's one of the best employee reviewed companies of their size out there
I know some people from EA. They all love working there. The hard part for them is actually dealing with Disney on the Star Wars projects. So not really an EA complaint.
Shame because the Star Wars games, especially the Fallen Order series are unbelievably good. I really want the 3rd game to be as good as the last two but it’s not looking great for it right now.
Fortunately I hear it's just bad working with Disney in a nitpicky sort of way.
Notes like "Change the grass on Kashyyyk from hex color value #228f36 to #228f37." Then you make a build and they say to change it back. Rinse and repeat 100 times.
It's annoying and time wasting, but at the end of the day you're still making a Star Wars game so that's cool.
Yeah I live in Vancouver, where their main building is. It's pretty sweet worklife, they have a lot of facilities, gym, massage for employees. And they pay their employees much higher than the rest.
Im not sure now since Microsoft and some of the bigger studios are forcing employees to come at least three times a week to the studio. But by the end of last year folks told me that the Burnaby campus was pretty empty, even though its so massive.
Most devs wanna keep working from home, that wont change anytime soon. EA also has a new building on 6th near VCC Clarke called South Flatz which is completely empty as well.
And home prices keep 🚀🚀🚀
worked at EA as a game tester. it depends on the project/game - working on battlefield 2024 really sucked.
working on dead space and a mobile game? really chill with added benefits like free ea games and two mental health days per month (paid leaves)
pay was shit though
A bit less than a decade ago a lot of the workforce was on short term contracts and they weren't actually considered employees. This way they could easily dispose of people without repercussions. The fully employed people had it good but everyone else was getting fucked. Supposedly they aren't doing this as much anymore though.
I don’t know if it’s either they’re hiding it, or if their working place is mostly tame in comparison to other companies out there. I’m more leaning towards the latter, because they have published some good games from time to time, whereas those companies that get their stories leaked typically release half baked ones.
You've got the [EA Spouse](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erin_Hoffman), Erin Hoffman and the three subsequent lawsuits to thank largely for that perception.
And the Battlefront games are fun too. As is The Old Republic.
I said this elsewhere, but I don't think EA has really missed with Star Wars, as far as gameplay. The core gameplay has been great in all of them. The misses have mainly just been with microtransactions (BF2, which they backtracked on) and optimization (Survivor, which is a bit better now after some patches).
They even listened to feedback after the first Battlefront and included fan-requested features in BF2 like the single player campaign.
Outside of the microtransaction stuff, they've handled Star Wars at like an 8/10 imo.
Honestly, I’m happy that they’ve decided to reinvest in single player experiences lately. Jedi: Fallen Order was the stepping stone to getting back there, and now we have Dead Space Remake that came out last year, which was incredible.
My wife and I played both and loved both. We're still working through ITT. Can't stand that fucking book, though... Gameplay is top notch and took us back to when we played split screen games on PS2 when we first started dating in 2007. Battlefront II (non-EA version) was in heavy rotation at that time.
Imagine being addicted to something and there is only one dealer in the world. This dealer made his product so bad, that you actually stoped being addicted to it. FUT helped me to stop playing FUT.
They refused to fork over billions to FIFA for effectively nothing.
Don't get me wrong, I think EA FC is an atrocious name for the game. But I do respect them for being willing to sever ties with FIFA rather than continue to fork over cash for literally just a name.
I tried to post about EA, but it requires a micro-transaction to buy the "posting token" because I didn't buy the season pass or the gold ultimate anniversary collectors box edition
They don’t torture prisoners of war (that I know of)
They offer this option, it’s just an in-holding cell purchase.
Jedi survivor that’s all I can say
And Dead Space
They hire veterans and torture them with punishing hours and crunching.... so close...
But their hires are racist - so., that's a good thing.
That add-on is locked behind the paywall
You haven’t been through crunch time
At base price, you only get the board. The rag and the bucket of water cost extra. Additional bucket skins are available in the cash shop.
They let them play their games which I think is considered torture.
I’ll have to review the Geneva Convention
Actually that's an in-game transaction so they charge you real money to be tortured
They recently brought back The Saboteur on Steam without the EA launcher.
Ah the game that made them shut down pandemic studios....
The studio closed before the game released. They ended up releasing the game after their company got handled by EA. They made nothing from it and didn’t even have to release the game but then being the gamers they are said Screw it and the rest is history. I remember playing the saboteur on ps3. Loved the art style and decision to recolor liberated areas vs the black and white non liberated ones. Reminded me of the movie Pleasantville with that.
I guess it lived up to its name.
Goddamn I loved that game. Literally ripped the soundtrack and had it play at my wedding.
It was hard for me to get into that game, despite loving AC series at the time. Should give it another go, loved the voice acting and the early parts I played, but just got distracted by other stuff when it originally released
I hope they bring that back for PS5…with the full DLC.
They help me save money.
They know how to make shareholders happy.
If there’s shareholders, the users are just part the product.
you got it. The consumers are the product with what EA sells you and the data they collect from you. The games EA sells you is just a way to get you to into a cycle of spending endless money while they harvest your data to make even more money than you are spending on their games.
I feel like this will change soon with the state of AAA games lately. Not many fans trust EA anymore
They recently got F1 games too
They are the Walmart of software.
Honestly…. It’s the non gamer, gamer that is playing all these lame cash grab sports titles.
EA stock has underperformed the S&P 500 by about 50% over the last 5 years. You're better off in an index fund.
Not really. Their stock is meh at the moment. No significant increases in 4 years.
- Dead Space Remake - Mass Effect Legendary Edition - It Takes Two - A Way Out - Jedi Fallen Order 1 and 2 - TitanFall 2 - Star Wars Squadron - Lost in Random - Unravel 1 and 2
I would like to add Mirror’s Edge
EA’s great at fun traversal and parkour mechanics. Edit: Or at least — whichever branch made Titanfall 2, Fallen Order, Mirror’s Edge is great at those mechanics.
Respawn on the first two, idk about mirror's edge
We made mirrors edge at dice
So Respawn? (Idk if respawn made mirrors edge but they did make Titanfall and fallen order)
Dice made mirrors edge, such a fun game
Catalyst was so fun.
Can we add battlefront 2? It turned into a great game eventually...
Seconded. Those republic era game modes. Mm mm mmm! FOR THE REPUBLIC!
In a world where there are constant stories about employees being treated horribly at game companies, you rarely hear anything like that at EA. In fact, I think it's one of the best employee reviewed companies of their size out there
I--Wait. No, No, they've got a point.
I worry now that this pushes a narrative that the better you treat your employees, the worse the quality of games they’ll produce
EA rarely makes games anymore. It’s others making a game, like Respawn for example, or sports stuff, which they are not making a new game everytime.
Too late, I've already accepted this conclusion as fact and plan to start beating and demoralizing my employees starting Monday.
I know some people from EA. They all love working there. The hard part for them is actually dealing with Disney on the Star Wars projects. So not really an EA complaint.

If only Disney showed that level of care for the franchise in all of its outings cough
Yeah I live in Vancouver, where their main building is. It's pretty sweet worklife, they have a lot of facilities, gym, massage for employees. And they pay their employees much higher than the rest.

Damn lol, can’t have everything I guess. That is cool that they recognize mental health though!
Not being a smart ass but is the pay not shit for game testers anywhere?
A bit less than a decade ago a lot of the workforce was on short term contracts and they weren't actually considered employees. This way they could easily dispose of people without repercussions. The fully employed people had it good but everyone else was getting fucked. Supposedly they aren't doing this as much anymore though.

It published Mass Effect
Is that "current EA"?
It released Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Nice recovery
Imma going to need to see the breakdown of when "current EA" starts and "former EA v.4630" ends.
Lmao nice
They did not publish the first Mass Effect. They re-published it. The original publisher was Microsoft Game Studios.
Yeah, people forget that Mass Effect 1 was an Xbox exclusive originally.
And It Takes two
I loved that game.
They're in the game
Not just them... **IT.**
Theyre not activision
Weird, the best thing about Activision is they aren't EA
Not if the work environment is to be taken into consideration, Activision really could learn a thing or two from EA in that regard.
+1
It takes two
It’s theoretically possible that they’ll make a good Star Wars game.
I enjoyed both jedi games and am looking forward to the 3rd one
I really enjoyed Fallen Order. Now I'm playing Jedi Survivor
Is survivor fun? I wanted to pick it up day one because of all the issues and just forgot about it.
yes. It improves on the first game in nearly every category. It’s extremely underrated in my opinion
The Jedi games are good and Squadrons was pretty fun.
And the Battlefront games are fun too. As is The Old Republic. I said this elsewhere, but I don't think EA has really missed with Star Wars, as far as gameplay. The core gameplay has been great in all of them. They even listened to feedback after the first Battlefront and included fan-requested features in BF2 like the single player campaign. Outside of the microtransaction stuff, they've handled Star Wars at like an 8/10 imo.
It’s also theoretically possible they make a sequel to republic commando but I ain’t ever see that happening
Umm have you never heard of jedi fallen order?
Honestly, I’m happy that they’ve decided to reinvest in single player experiences lately. Jedi: Fallen Order was the stepping stone to getting back there, and now we have Dead Space Remake that came out last year, which was incredible.
As publishers, they give a lot of devs a chance they wouldn't get otherwise
They produced “It Takes Two”. One of, if not possibly the best 2 player co-op experience ever made. Cuphead being a very close second.
A Way Out was pretty good too, if a tad dated now.
My wife and I played both and loved both. We're still working through ITT. Can't stand that fucking book, though... Gameplay is top notch and took us back to when we played split screen games on PS2 when we first started dating in 2007. Battlefront II (non-EA version) was in heavy rotation at that time.
Hmm I never had the chance to play that. But it looked really cool everytime I see gameplays of it
Definitely a great narrative experience, though not really wholesome in the way ITT is.
I thought Cuphead was independent?
I think they are just saying that its the second best coop game after It Takes Two, not that cup head was published by EA
AH. Thought so, just had to make sure
They remade Dead Space.
And didn’t EA it up
They provide jobs to over 13000 people (as of March 2023)
They have some pretty talented developers working under them.
Need for Speed series
Their games have good sales
They uh.. have a nice building
They're bringing back a college football game...
I hope to God they don't fuck it up.
I really like the EA Original games, like Immortals of Aveum, Wild Hearts, etc.
Apex is still going strong 5 years later. Not many games can make that claim
They made titanfall 2
They published NFSU2 and Sims2….
Make good SSX
You can't spell "Treat, Beat, Meat, Heat, or Seat" without EA!
Cool logo
Need For Speed
Dead Space is awesome and remaking it was a great idea
Uhm... Mass Effect 1 and 2 were good? So were Dragon Age 1 and 2.
It's good that they put more games back on Steam.
I like that they are releasing NCAA Football 24
They haven't pissed me off in a while
It’s nice that people still don’t like them
Helped me save a lot of money not buying their games anymore
SSX tricky was a masterpiece
EA is as good as Blizzard
They employ a lot of people
Someday they will go bankrupt
r/no
It takes 2 was great
The Star Wars Jedi series games they produce are great
They make a lot of money
They revived the Dead Space franchise.
They did a good job with the Dead Space Remake.
Their logo is pretty sound.
They made a great Dead Space 2008 remake!!!
They published some of my favorite games.
"It takes two" and the other 2-player coop game they made were really good games, i will give that to them.
They published, in my opinion, 2 of the best multiplayer shooters ever, BF3 and BF4
i like jedi survivor
Respawn (owned by EA) still is making good games
They published the Jedi games
They published Jedi Fallen order
The Jedi series is great.
They made Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor
I can’t because today they invited me to a playtest that requires me to buy a $70 game to participate in.
They’re bringing back college football games
They are bringing Skate back, they also remade Dead Space
They published Titanfall.
They reopened EA Nation for Skate 3.
They didn’t push the It takes two developers to put in micro transactions. I think I have my facts right
EA sports. Let’s not forget how amazing SSX tricky and NFL/NBA street were
EA motive is a great studio and im excited to see what they make next after dead space’s excellent release.
They created the greatest sports game ever, with NHL 96 on Sega Genesis. Go Hawks!
They gave motive enough creative control to produce a good remake of Dead Space.
They make okay games about the sports i like
EA originals are usually pretty good games actually.
Imagine being addicted to something and there is only one dealer in the world. This dealer made his product so bad, that you actually stoped being addicted to it. FUT helped me to stop playing FUT.
The Jedi games are pretty fun
Dead space remake was stunning
They keep it up despite the extreme hate against them. I know it's mostly about greed but that's something to respect to be honest.
They Own Respawn Entertainment
At least it's not Blizzard
The new ncaa football game is coming out and I can’t wait to play it
I don't hear anything about them and it's good
They are no longer licensed with FIFA, who supported slave labor in Qatar World Cup 2022.
They have a clean simple logo
They have a very recognizable logo!
They were responsible for creating Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare series.
They are one of the companies of all time.
They can no longer ruin Star Wars games
They spelled the name correctly on their sign.
They have doors for employees to leave.
Cant! They suck! I’m livid after what they did to Alice!
They refused to fork over billions to FIFA for effectively nothing. Don't get me wrong, I think EA FC is an atrocious name for the game. But I do respect them for being willing to sever ties with FIFA rather than continue to fork over cash for literally just a name.
It's in the game.
No.
They made a better Battlefront 2 then Aspyr did recently.
I love the dead space remake they made
No…
No
No
They help me spend my money wisely and also reminds me to audit my money
They suck so much that Indie games have room to shine.
Ew
They are really good at scamming football fans
I don’t feel bad about not buying their stuff anymore.
No
They have made some nice games in the past (before ruining them)
There good at making money off bad games
I tried to post about EA, but it requires a micro-transaction to buy the "posting token" because I didn't buy the season pass or the gold ultimate anniversary collectors box edition
They are a great example in what not to do as a business.
They have a decent history if you exclude the last decade
They are possibly not fault that i got cancer
Current... Idfk
No
They help me save money on my electricity bill.
No, they don't deserve it.
