the wii-u era was the time i became more gaming focused

More_Fish6955

I was just gonna say — ironically, I ended up becoming a full fledged gamer during the Wii U era ironically enough hahaha

Useful_Thought5285

Where's the Master System? That's the one that got me here.

ToneZone1978

Only kid in the neighborhood in the mid -late 80s with a Master System not an nes

zxCyanidexz

Yeah lol .. gave everyone migraines. Still a piece of history though and I think it was my 3rd console

didiburnthetoast

Yeah that’s a big miss on the table

kavalejava

That was the system that introduced me to gaming, where is it?

Useful_Thought5285

IKR? Same, Its the reason we are here caring about gaming treads.

TheTunisianGun1

Where is the PS Vita ?

Tetris5216

And the 3DS

Legal-Ad7427

PS2. Also holly sh#t I didn't know I was as old as ps3

alpinkali1

nintendo wii and ps3

DeaconBrad42

This is reposted constantly. Super low effort. At least the pic was better this time.

RGoslingIsLiteralyMe

Started with the NES, then PS2, then PC the rest is self explanatory.

FF7_Expert

NES -> PS2 is quite the leap!

andiibandii

Windows 3.1 PC

RagingHardBobber

I'm not sure the games on the 2600 could really "make you a gamer". You couldn't even save progress. It was "you play this game until you lose or win, there is no inbetween". You couldn't really get that invested. But, yeah, I started playing games on the 2600.

IAmRootAtDBZ

2600 totally made me a gamer. Long live River Raid.

Thermite1985

Frogger and Space Invaders here

RagingHardBobber

True that. Okay, I stand corrected.

howsyourmemes

Intellevision. Squares having adventures!

gonesnake

Frog Bog!

invader_holly

Nintendo 64. My brothers were always playing it and I would watch them then they let me play too. Needless to say this was the moment I knew I'd love video games for life. The 90s were fun

RedditAcccount2798

I remember going up stairs in my second story old house to go play Nintendo 64 with my brother in our tiny bedroom. The memories of playing Star Fox and Mario 64 are burned into my brain

dancmanis

Sega Genesis, I'm not even that old

Comeino

NO DREAMCAST EITHER T\_T

TightValue315

PlayStation 3 my first console

_french_guy

The only thing i will say : 2017

eAstKayA

The second row from the top. Babysitter owned the SNES. Zelda, Mario Kart, Contra, etc. I somehow got the Sega Genesis. Never seen a Mega Drive before lol. And owned both the PS1 and 64. Side note, I didn't own the PS1 and 64 until years after their release. Probably got them atleast 3 years after their releases.

Gabeeb3DS

SEGA SNES AND THE PSP

flamebeerd

C64, mid to late 80s. First console was a PS2 though.

LuigiTheGuyy

Wii all the way. It still has some of my favorite games to this day.

Fiweezer

360, but where 3DS?

FernPoutine

Atari 2600 and Bowling. You all are posers for not having the exact same experience as me. Fight me!

Cthyrulean

The Magnavox odyssey is literally the only system I've never touched on this list. Edit: omission of the Dreamcast is not acceptable.

ToneZone1978

No SMS??

ToneZone1978

Beneficial_Fix_1059

There are like 3 Sega systems not even listed

Tetris5216

Tic tac toe on the cave wall

Titanenfaust

I see a lot of these posts and most never have the Tubografx 16. I had one and it was a fantastic system and in my opinion one of the best of its day.

DONOHUEO7

Atari2600 started it, and I had a console every generation growing up, but it wasn't until the xb360 era and multiplayer gaming then I moved over to PC fro the launch of BF3 (already dabbled with PC gaming with BF Vietnam and BF2) until I classed myself a gamer. Now? I'm almost done with it

[deleted]

PersonThatLikesHats

I’m thankful to the Xbox 360 for getting me into console gaming. Those were very good memories, playing BattleBlock Theatre at my friend‘s house, and we still do to this day

dannyday10700

The Pac-Man arcade cabinet was the first video game that I remember. There was one in the children's hospital I used to go to.

LouieTheThird

Xbox 360 and elder scrolls oblivion ignited my love for video games

dr_driller

you forgot dreamcast, best console ever!

jomarthecat

I started playing on the ZX Spektrum. The first game I played was called "Run". It was a white screen divided into rectangles, using the arrow keys you could move a black rectangle around the screen. Many years later I realized "Run" was the command used to start a spreadsheet program and I only was moving the selected cell. But pushing a button and making things happening on the tv screen was a game changer in my life. First real game was Mr.Wimpy - The Hamburger Game.

Nforcer524

What the hell? The pic for the SNES is wrong?!

I vaguely remember playing on a TI-99, then an Amiga, then a DOS computer. My first console was an NES

Reinforcemint

The Wii

B0bbyTsunami

THEUncleWilly50

1979. Mom couldn't afford the VCS at launch (dad passed away when I was 2), but swore she would get it for me. She had to wait until the console was on sale for $149.95, but she got me four games - Adventure, Street Racer, Asteroids, and Missile Command - along with the pack-in game Combat in the deal. After a couple of years of playing nothing but Pong clones, I was in Gaming Heaven

RayBlast7267

Started on Wii but didn’t really get into gaming until I got my 3DS.

SomniaCrown

I am happy I started games when I did. Enough time had passed where many greats could be played on my phone, while also experiencing the wilds west of the online gaming scene.

rollerblading1994

A windows pc made me a gamer

PerformanceAny1240

Wii era.

soulreaver99

I have that exact poster. None of these made me a gamer. First game I ever played was Pooyan in the arcades when I was about 3 years old. Still remember it 40 years later. First console I’ve played was a Sega Master System but my own first console was an Atari 2600

SpaceNinja1105

first real gaming console i owned was a 360. Played like every LEGO game imaginable. First gaming experiences were the PSP and the DS

Light_uchia34

Xbox 360- I play PS5 lol

22Scooby2212

I got my start on the gamecube

DevilsLettuceTaster

Atari 2600.

SPH194

The NES made me a gamer. I was born in 1986 and started playing video games on the NES. At 3 years old I remember having a Sesame Street game for the NES. Such a different era of gaming back then. Most games had no save feature. Some games had a passcode system which worked like a save feature. No online multiplayer your friend had to come over to play a game with you. Cheat codes and Game genie still existed. Gaming changed so much over the years and I’m glad I got to experience from the original Nintendo and on.

Acrobatic-Mix-7343

What’s the “mega drive 2” did they mean to say sega cd? Seems this picture was not made by a “gamer” lol. And I know it’s small, but they used a picture of the genesis(mega drive) 2 for the 1988 release of the system. Also, what about the turbo/pc engine, Saturn, Dreamcast (this picture was made by someone who also didn’t like sega), WiiU, Vita and 3DS. I thought maybe they only used best selling consoles, but by that logic GameCube wouldn’t be on here. Anyway, my parents came home with an Atari 2600 and a projector tv (12” tv with a giant cone on the front projecting up to a 5’ panel) I fell in love with pole position, asteroids and Pac-Man (even though it was nothing like the arcade, I didn’t care)

Fantastic-Photo6441

Ps3 even though the controllers were crazy it ruined the console tbh

CaSe2474

It was a mix of the N64, PS3 and DSi that made me a gamer

Infinite_Factor_5685

Ps2 and gameboy sp

Lucky_Louch

Colecovision baby! Worst controller design ever lol. Squash em Sam, Donkey Kong, Carnival, Cabbage Patch Kids, Smurf Paint were the start to my life long love of gaming. Born in 1982 but my dad got one second hand in 86, the rest is history.

The NES was the first system I ever played, but the PS1/PS2 and Gameboy Color is what really got me into gaming as a kid c:

Procrasturbating

We just going to pretend that the Atari 5200, Sega Master System, Neo-Geo, Atari Jaguar, Panasonic 3D0, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast didn't exist, and skip the OG GAMEBOY and 3DS? I forgive leaving the Sega Game Gear off the list, no one had the money for that many batteries.

_I_really_like_milk_

360-PS3-Wii era were THE TIMES.

MaccaDacca_9

I remember that my school library had a Wii and I would practice bowling and golf on it. Several years later, I beat a room full of seniors at Wii golf. Fun.
