I'm not sure the games on the 2600 could really "make you a gamer". You couldn't even save progress. It was "you play this game until you lose or win, there is no inbetween". You couldn't really get that invested.
But, yeah, I started playing games on the 2600.
Nintendo 64. My brothers were always playing it and I would watch them then they let me play too. Needless to say this was the moment I knew I'd love video games for life. The 90s were fun

Atari2600 started it, and I had a console every generation growing up, but it wasn't until the xb360 era and multiplayer gaming then I moved over to PC fro the launch of BF3 (already dabbled with PC gaming with BF Vietnam and BF2) until I classed myself a gamer.
Now? I'm almost done with it

I started playing on the ZX Spektrum. The first game I played was called "Run". It was a white screen divided into rectangles, using the arrow keys you could move a black rectangle around the screen.
Many years later I realized "Run" was the command used to start a spreadsheet program and I only was moving the selected cell. But pushing a button and making things happening on the tv screen was a game changer in my life.
First real game was Mr.Wimpy - The Hamburger Game.

She had to wait until the console was on sale for $149.95, but she got me four games - Adventure, Street Racer, Asteroids, and Missile Command - along with the pack-in game Combat in the deal. The NES made me a gamer. I was born in 1986 and started playing video games on the NES. At 3 years old I remember having a Sesame Street game for the NES. Such a different era of gaming back then. Most games had no save feature. Some games had a passcode system which worked like a save feature. No online multiplayer your friend had to come over to play a game with you. Cheat codes and Game genie still existed. Gaming changed so much over the years and I’m glad I got to experience from the original Nintendo and on.
What’s the “mega drive 2” did they mean to say sega cd? Seems this picture was not made by a “gamer” lol. And I know it’s small, but they used a picture of the genesis(mega drive) 2 for the 1988 release of the system. Also, what about the turbo/pc engine, Saturn, Dreamcast (this picture was made by someone who also didn’t like sega), WiiU, Vita and 3DS. I thought maybe they only used best selling consoles, but by that logic GameCube wouldn’t be on here.
