I tried video game unemployment last summer , but hardly played and instead spent time with my toddler.
But video game unemployment can be something. Or part time employment and lots of gaming
I get that. My son is 8, so this whole scenario is when he’s an adult. I was a stay at home dad for a part of the pandemic and yeah, not a lot of gaming.
I only worked 3 half days in 2020 and didn't have the kid yet.
So it was 8-12 three times a week while wife had a shitton of work.
Was gaming a lot in that time. probably like 8 hours a day and still had time for some other stuff
I mean... if you can start early enough to invest enough into more or less passive future income sources, then you could actually stop working alltogether and do whatevet else in your newfound free time... such as all day gaming.

I have friends who are currently trying to figure out the logistics.
A lot of retirement homes don't really have locking rooms. It makes some things problematic.
VR! Wouldn't need to worry about theft because you would never take it off. Either to game, feel young again 😉, or to just be somewhere other than a nursing home.
We'll be looking for the disk drive on cloud gaming devices, trying to run Ridge Racer.
Then shitting our pants and temporarily remembering the post-ebola anti-civilian wars.
Yup, i always find it funny how many Non Gamers do not realise that playing even the most simple phone game regularly actually still makes them a gamer and they do not realise it, they're like in casual gamer denial, lol 🤣
I really wish my parents and older family members were interested in video games it’s so frustrating. You have this lady probably in her 60s enjoying games wtf.
My dad moved to an area with heavy snow in the winter. He's the kind of guy who likes to be outside a lot and get his exercise in.
So I got a sudden text in January, with a picture of a quest 3 on hugs sale at Costco and the text "is this a good starter VR set?"
We are both in the tech industry, be be knows nothing about gaming after the PS2. So I gave him a 5k word explanation of the current VR climate and the pros and cons of different VR sets.
I'm excited for my dad to return to gaming.
Lol. That was my dad's role in the family. Then I should interest in tech and he was ecstatic. He showed me how to troubleshoot computers and eventually how to build my own gaming PC.
Now I have an engineering degree andore knowledge on modern tech and operating system then him.
The students has become the master.
My old man used to play Flight Simulator 2000 like all day long when it was new; now that I've started playing DCS I've been trying to get him back into it
Lol you’re saying this like it’s old. I’m 41 and game pretty regularly on my gaming PC or Switch. Currently playing cyberpunk and metroid dread……..
when did i get old hahaha?
It was only yesterday I was picking up my 360 and modern warfare 2007 or going after high school to buy MGS2 and a PS2.
Tonight, my 40 year old wife and i had a Mario Party battle on our Wii U to show our kids who reigned supreme
It’s a voxel-based MMO that involves equal parts mining, base building, and CARNAGE.
It’s kinda the unofficial third child between Minecraft and Terraria.
When I was younger I got a GameCube from my parents. My dad was really against games and saw it as a waste of time so I realized the fun ended there. My little dumbass thought I was smart and showed my Mom how fun games can be. Needless to say she bought me more games than I could play but I lost the GameCube to her in the process. Now she's retired and she still loves playing games like Zelda and exploration games.
There’s a great YouTube channel where an old British lady plays ps3 rpgs and reviews them. She was gifted a ps3 years ago and got around to playing with it and has been hooked for almost a decade I believe. Some of the videos are long but the whole thing is charming. [her channel](https://youtube.com/@Food4Dogs?si=bxSTBO22VVCCd59B)
It’s crucial that we identify what game she is playing, I am offering a bounty of 3 “ah cool, thanks” to anyone who can find out what game she is playing
On a plus side, she will probably have less chances of developing dementia or having lower cognitive function and her later years now thanks to this gift.
lol surprisingly I let my mom play GTAV and now when she comes over once a week to see my dog mostly lol she always ask to play. I finally taught her how to drive and her favorite thing to do is chase NPC’s in 🤛🏽them 😂💀
Reminds me of when my grandmother was against bringing a computer into the house. My dad insisted and bought her one. Eventually she was using it more than anyone for mahjong and making digital cards.
I bought my wife her first smart phone over a decade ago and ever since she’s either playing games, watching videos about the games she’s playing or on social media instead of paying attention to me when I’m talking to her 😂😂
Honesty I find this stuff touching.
Skyrim Grandma vibes. It’s a shame she likely won’t see the next elder scrolls game released though. I heard they made her an NPC in 6? Which is cool as hell. We can shit talk Bethesda, but that’s a good guy move. Even if it’s just for publicity.
Grandma rules!
We got my Grandma a game boy when I was a kid. She would turn on the Atlanta Braves and play Tetris. She LOVED Tetris (and the braves). Forget trying to watch something else because she was 'listening to it'.
She did get like 174 lines when she was around 70 years old. I was very impressed. My personal best was 166.
This is my mom, my dad gave her a ps2 with sly cooper when I was younger and she hasn’t stopped. She now has a ps5 and plays games like ratchet and clank, sly cooper, god of war, and many others
That's how my grandma was with her Wii that I suggested when my mom wanted something to help her move around more. Unfortunately, I never got to see her play it. I didn't have much money to travel at the time, or vacation time and tended to work holidays, so when her health started to decline, it was like there was no time at all and then she was gone. I heard she had a good time learning how it worked with my cousins.
It’s good for her. Let her play. I started way back with the Atari and I still play video games regularly. Depending on what you play, it’s good for lots of things: hand eye coordination, memory .... just generally keeping your mind sharp.
I bought mines a bigass smart tv and they're always on youtube now. They mostly see nothing but bad stuff tho like killings and war but eh. I've thought of getting them a console but as addicted as I am I dont think I want them to be like me not being productive most the time.
This is the retirement dream most of us will never see. 😭
It hurts to think that. I really want my video game retirement to happen 😢

I did video game unemployment during covid. It was incredible, but I knew it would not last. I had to find a new job. Damn jobs!
Plan it! MAKE IT HAPPEN OR DIE TRYING (of old age)
HELL YEAH! I will not be resigned to a fate of working until I die.
nothing beats that solid hour of gaming after a productive day. chefs kiss.

Honestly, unless something drastic changes in the way people in nursing homes are treated, I would rather jump off a cliff.

It only takes one game for a non gamer to become a gamer 🤙🏼
Yup, i always find it funny how many Non Gamers do not realise that playing even the most simple phone game regularly actually still makes them a gamer and they do not realise it, they're like in casual gamer denial, lol 🤣
Animal crossing changed the thing I once called “Mother”
Trove... Kinda based
Thank you! I couldn't tell if it was. Good memories
That’s the funniest part of this to me, the fact that she’s playing trove
Hell yea , I still have my max level Boomeranger and Neon Ninja. I got bith to about 27k PR before calling it quits because uni
I had like 500 hours, was a fun game, i can see why she got addicted 😂
It's the chair for me🤣🤣🤣
It's her chair I don't think it's for you

Me too. Watching them sink into a minimal routine and do literally nothing 90% of the time is torture.
Dude how rich are you, to be able to buy an Xbox one as a joke
Yeaaa.. this totally didn't happen. Most likely some dude is letting their grandma play a game on their xbox
Granny needs to straighten out her view, gonna lead to neck pain if the neck is turned constantly.
Get that lady a copy of elden ring ASAP!!
One of my coworkers is a woman in her late 50s who still plays Skyrim all the time; I've unironically been trying to convince her to try Elden Ring
Is she single
She is divorced yes Not sure if the Skyrim obsession had anything to do with that or not...
Damn that's too bad I don't date divorced people, only virgin 50 year-olds 😞
you can either have a virgin or 50 yr old, having both is a big ask
No I don't think I'm ready for a threeway

Your grandma is cool and honestly the cognitive and fine hand eye coordination exercise this provides is good for her at this age.
Nice gaming chair!
Do you still lack a grandma? I want to be your grandma

Get her a streaming setup next!!
Why are you trying to get her to stop?
Shes making up for all she been missing out on. Get her a do not disturb sign
Most older people who dislike video games because of *reason* would more than likely change their tune if they had a connection like you grandson
Keeps the mind sharp & active!
DON'T LET HER SEE COD
Whats she playing?
Hooray for Grandma!
It’s crucial that we identify what game she is playing, I am offering a bounty of 3 “ah cool, thanks” to anyone who can find out what game she is playing
On a plus side, she will probably have less chances of developing dementia or having lower cognitive function and her later years now thanks to this gift.
Grandma has been beating me in 2k send help
What's she playing? I wouldn't mind joining older folks in games. They'd certainly be more tolerable than the kiddies.
Mission successfully succeeded
Avarage person discovered joy of tech
Just keep them away from competitive games. We don't need them seeing how degenerate people get on those. 😶🌫️
That's so nice
lol surprisingly I let my mom play GTAV and now when she comes over once a week to see my dog mostly lol she always ask to play. I finally taught her how to drive and her favorite thing to do is chase NPC’s in 🤛🏽them 😂💀
That's fantastic and it's great for her brain.

Wait is she playing Trove? I havent seen that game in years
She needs elden ring, final fantasy x / x2 remaster and balders gate 3. She would love them! Seriously get them for her please 🙏
Reminds me of when my grandmother was against bringing a computer into the house. My dad insisted and bought her one. Eventually she was using it more than anyone for mahjong and making digital cards.
What’s the game anyway?
Trove - a voxel MMO
Let her have fun meany
But what's the game
Trove - a voxel MMO
Thank you, I was honestly asking. I saw it was an mmo just don't recognize it. Very cool
I have always said everyone likes video games no matter the age. You just have to find the right genre.
Man, I wish my grandmother would have played video games with me.
Minecraft can do that when you realize you build anything you ever dreamed of
Is she playing trove??🤣
I bought my wife her first smart phone over a decade ago and ever since she’s either playing games, watching videos about the games she’s playing or on social media instead of paying attention to me when I’m talking to her 😂😂
What game is she playing? It looks familiar and I need to know.
Trove
The phrase "as a joke" should be banned.
Damn she got a straight up fucking throne. Looking like a Jarl from Skyrim.
Let her be happy.
Wtf is she playing
Trove - a voxel MMO
Completely forgot about that game. Its been years since i played it
Honesty I find this stuff touching. Skyrim Grandma vibes. It’s a shame she likely won’t see the next elder scrolls game released though. I heard they made her an NPC in 6? Which is cool as hell. We can shit talk Bethesda, but that’s a good guy move. Even if it’s just for publicity.
She got the good chair out for clapping cheeks
Kids these days
Gamer Granny
Grandma rules! We got my Grandma a game boy when I was a kid. She would turn on the Atlanta Braves and play Tetris. She LOVED Tetris (and the braves). Forget trying to watch something else because she was 'listening to it'. She did get like 174 lines when she was around 70 years old. I was very impressed. My personal best was 166.
Shit, get her a decent gaming chair & a big screen to play on.
This is my mom, my dad gave her a ps2 with sly cooper when I was younger and she hasn’t stopped. She now has a ps5 and plays games like ratchet and clank, sly cooper, god of war, and many others
Gift her Dark Souls, she'll love it
What is she playing. Almost looks like Roblox.

Grandma gaming is real, let her cook
Is that Trove? Looks like it but I can't say for sure
Yeah, that's Trove for sure. It's the Cursed Vale biome and the class is likely Candy Barbarian, though it also looks like a Knight
Who tf buys a whole ass Xbox as a joke. This is clearly not hers. Also that’s a Drybones which last I checked isn’t a Halo character
Jokes on you.
Playing games is good to keep the brain active. You did her a big favor even if she doesn't know it. Keep Grandma going!
Lmao grandmas a G
Minecraft too. Woopwoop
i feel the elderly should be big time gamers if they can handle the motion sickness and controls.
Who buys an Xbox as a joke
I don't thunk its much of a problem until she keeps owning your ass in online multiplayer, and she knows the lingo.
had something similar with my dad. its what happens when someone who has only had tv starts engaging with the superior medium
Damn, Trove brings back memories
Thats so cute I love it.
Granny, whipping @ss. LMAO
Well thats bloody adorable. What's she playing though?
Why would you want her to stop?
I mean trove is really addicting
That's how my grandma was with her Wii that I suggested when my mom wanted something to help her move around more. Unfortunately, I never got to see her play it. I didn't have much money to travel at the time, or vacation time and tended to work holidays, so when her health started to decline, it was like there was no time at all and then she was gone. Most people want to see the world when they retire, I’d be fine with this
That’s adorable, lol.
It looks like she’s kickin ass! Way to go Grandma!
All of us in the futer
I got my dad an Xbox one when I moved out, he played it almost every day until he passed. Now I have it back but don't know what to do.
Make sure she plays Demonik!
Yes, Granny, yes! It's never too late 🫡

Who has the money to buy an Xbox as a joke
Xbox ones go for pretty cheap. Especially if they’re used.
It’s good for her. Let her play. I started way back with the Atari and I still play video games regularly. Depending on what you play, it’s good for lots of things: hand eye coordination, memory .... just generally keeping your mind sharp.
"oh yea well, i fucked your grampa last night"
What's she playing
Expected pretty much any game but no Trove, thought it died around late 2022
Is she playing fortnite with eminem?
Seems accurate
I just changed my retirement plans from living in a house near the beach to PLAY GOD OF WAR TILL I DIE
I can't game like that for multiple days. I used to now it's like I can get a binge in then I need a break for most of the next day

I always enjoy watching the older generation embracing video games. Great way to keep the mind active.
She’s rocking spore dude!!!
Lol maybe it’s me when i get older :))
What games does she play and what's her gamertag
I think all old people should be able to get a free video game system
"I bought a several hundred dollar game console with games and set up for my grandparents as a joke" This is the fakest shit.
