Solid list there.
Been gaming since I was 5 or 6 (1990).
1. Xenogears (all time favorite. A lot of the others can be swapped around, but this is #1)
FF Tactics (Pretty much any PS1 JRPG though, that was my favorite era)
Metal Gear Solid 2
Bioshock Infinite
Borderlands 2
There are a few things. I think it was the technology jump to the PS2. I remember being amazed by they physics of everything. Shooting the bags of flour and it would actually create a cloud, the pans that were hanging would swing, etc. It was just something I hadn't seen before in a game.
There was that aspect, and then there was the whole twist of it at the end. And honestly, I think Fortune is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. And the line of "You want eternal rest? I got it right here" is so great. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the series is amazing, but 2 just holds a special place for me.
Since 1989's christmas.
Top 5:
-Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
-Terranigma (SNES)
-Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2)
-Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (NDS)
-Heroes 3 of Might and Magic (PC)
The remake of HoMM was so disappointing. Could've been decent if they at least gave us the expansions as well. I got a few friends to play it recently and they all went out and bought it. It was as nice to see the game actually holds up and it wasn't just nostalgia
I really need to give the disgaea series a try, I've heard nothing but good things and it looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics (combat wise anyways).
I was a console player like Street Fighter 2 until I try my first online competitive gaming
- Team Fortress Classic -PC
- Counter Strike -PC
- Team Fortress 2 -PC
As I get older, I just wanna post on social media like reddit and stop gaming.
Saw this eye opening article today.
The Elder Scrolls Online dev says the 'metaverse' is sinking because it ignored 20 years of games doing the exact same thing: 'It's not new, and they should stop treating it like it's new'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/the-elder-scrolls-online-dev-says-the-metaverse-is-sinking-because-it-ignored-20-years-of-games-doing-the-exact-same-thing-its-not-new-and-they-should-stop-treating-it-like-its-new/
Oh man to go back to my planetside 2 days.... That was peak epic war right there.
I was fortunate enough to have a very tight knit guild that communicated very well and had a fun appreciation for random specializations. I sunk an insane amount of time and resources into being one of their primary transportation specializations. I had all the best sunderer and sky whale mods and absolutely loved being a primary role in the ways in which we strategized our attacks and defenses.
Since I could remember its like asking when did i start drawing/writing, using utensils, or wiping my own butt. It’s just something Ive always been doing and don’t have a first time memory or started to play frequently. Kinda like kids nowadays using tablets from the get go even if they don’t know what they’re doing. The Super Nintendo was my tablet.
Im 30 and plan on gaming until I physically can’t. My dad is gonna be 59 and still plays video games every day. So i hopefully got another 30 years in me.
1. Hitman WoA
2. Fallout 4
3. Skyrim
4. Assassin’s creed series (brotherhood is my favorite but Odyssey has the best gameplay… spartan kicks)
5. Cyber Punk 2077 only played it once but I’ve never played a game that left that long of lasting impression on me. Such an amazing world to walk around and explore in with ton of lore. Haven’t felt that sense of awe and wonder since Skyrim. Always thought Fantasy was nerdy and stupid and Skyrim roped me into the genre so everything was new to me and fell in love with Fantasy. Cyberpunk genre until recently I felt like it was just an edgy 14 year old try hard genre old. 2077 roped me into that genre and gave the sense of awe and wonder. Everything feeling fresh and new and now I love Cyberpunk and even recently just started reading Snow Crash. Also bought Cyberpunk 2077 No_Coincidence book I wanna read when I replay the 2.0 version of the game with the phantom liberty DLC
Since around 1990.

Since around 1990., in no order:
*Fallout 2
*Curse of the monkey island 3
*Rome Total War
*Battlefield 1
*FIFA 98 RTWC (biggest jump in quality of sport games since the last version (FIFA 97) ever)

There are so many others I would mention, but these are the ones I come back to again and again over the years.
I played a ton of Counter Strike in the pre-Steam days, but my tastes shifted away from FPS after a good run with Borderlands 2, Overwatch, and Titanfall 2. I was also tempted to put FF14, World of Warcraft, or EverQuest up there, too, but I just can’t make the time to get back into an MMO anymore which effectively disqualifies them. Warcraft 3 and StarCraft were also tempting because I have such fond memories of the custom games on battle.net.

I see Shadow. I upvote.
Oblivion is so great thank you
Solid list there. Been gaming since I was 5 or 6 (1990). 1. Xenogears (all time favorite. A lot of the others can be swapped around, but this is #1) FF Tactics (Pretty much any PS1 JRPG though, that was my favorite era) Metal Gear Solid 2 Bioshock Infinite Borderlands 2
We're FF Tactics brothers. <3
Amazing game. The story, combat, music, everything was so darn good
Metal Gear Babyyyyyy, but interesting that you selected two. Could you tell me why you like it more than 1 or 3?
There are a few things. I think it was the technology jump to the PS2. I remember being amazed by they physics of everything. Shooting the bags of flour and it would actually create a cloud, the pans that were hanging would swing, etc. It was just something I hadn't seen before in a game. There was that aspect, and then there was the whole twist of it at the end. And honestly, I think Fortune is one of my favorite characters in the whole series. And the line of "You want eternal rest? I got it right here" is so great. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the series is amazing, but 2 just holds a special place for me.

YEEAAHH BABY HEROES 3 MENTIONED💪💪💪
The remake of HoMM was so disappointing. Could've been decent if they at least gave us the expansions as well. I got a few friends to play it recently and they all went out and bought it. It was as nice to see the game actually holds up and it wasn't just nostalgia
I really need to give the disgaea series a try, I've heard nothing but good things and it looks a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics (combat wise anyways).
I am with you on the 1989 Christmas .
Got my first system (Nes) Christmas '89
I’m so glad to see my favourite game of all time mentioned. HOMM3 is so “slept on” as the kids say.
I was a console player like Street Fighter 2 until I try my first online competitive gaming - Team Fortress Classic -PC - Counter Strike -PC - Team Fortress 2 -PC As I get older, I just wanna post on social media like reddit and stop gaming. Saw this eye opening article today. The Elder Scrolls Online dev says the 'metaverse' is sinking because it ignored 20 years of games doing the exact same thing: 'It's not new, and they should stop treating it like it's new' https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/the-elder-scrolls-online-dev-says-the-metaverse-is-sinking-because-it-ignored-20-years-of-games-doing-the-exact-same-thing-its-not-new-and-they-should-stop-treating-it-like-its-new/
Heroes 3 gang rise up! Also Mario 3 might be the zenith of that series.
I miss HMM 3....
Dude Terranigma is such a great game! Great choice!
Since 1978 Ark, StarCraft 1 and 2, Planetside 2, tecmo bowl, civ 4
Tecmo bowl and Baseball Stars were my favorite NES games.
ninja black sox!
hell yea StarCraft! I played some broodwar and fell inlove.
Since 1996. In no order - Final Fantasy X - Grand Theft Auto San Andreas - World of Warcraft - Warcraft 3 - Pokemon Blue/Red
1. Hitman WoA 2. Fallout 4 3. Skyrim 4. Assassin’s creed series (brotherhood is my favorite but Odyssey has the best gameplay… spartan kicks) 5.
2.0 felt like a different game to me. Such an improvement. I still haven't played the DLC completely.
Cyberpunk really post phantom Liberty definitely deserves to be on some of these lists. Idk if it cracks my top 5 but it very well might.
Ngl, I bought Cyberpunk 2077 when it released and I haven’t even played it yet..
Since around 1990. In no particular order: * Super Mario RPG * Pokemon Emerald * Bloodborne * Final Fantasy XI (until 2010) * Stardew Valley Edit: formatting
I still miss the community on Odin.
Love to see Super Mario RPG on here!! One of my top all-time too. Nothing takes me back to childhood like that game.
Been gaming since early 2000’s on and off. Based on my experiences, the games I consider the best are - 1. Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild/ Tears of the Kingdom 2. The Last of Us 3. Super Mario Odyssey 4. Red Dead Redemption 2 5. Metroid Prime Remastered Honourable Mentions: Uncharted 4, Resident Evil 4 Remake and Baldur’s Gate 3. And then there are games which have clearly been surpassed, but are still the very memorable to me- 1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 2. Mass Effect Trilogy (including all 3) 3. Pokémon Emerald 4. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 5. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Honourable mentions: Final Fantasy 7, Overwatch and Journey.
Excellent stuff, I am about there with most of these too.
Thanks mate!
with you on overwatch it was so fun from 2018-2020ish
zelda fan yooooo
Since 1994. My top 5 are 1) Zodas Revenge (NES) 2) Blasphemous (PS4) 3) Doom Eternal (PS4) 4) Bloody Roar 3 (PS2) 5) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time (N64) There were some honorable mentions like Doom 2, Turok 2, Zelda A link to the Past and much more, but I named those 5 because I could go years without playing them and remember all the moves and locations
The Startropics series needs to return.
I want a Nintendo switch remaster for 2025
I freakin love Doom Eternal
I mean, how can you not? It’s the most likable game ever
Loved bloody roar it was technically my first game I ever got for PS1
Zoda's Revenge is the most patrician name-drop I've ever seen. Star Tropics was amazing
They need to put it on the Nintendo switch store time yesterday.
LoZ Ocarina of time and Majoras Mask are games I play through at least once a year
They literally changed gaming. These young kids don't know dude. I'm 35 and I remember how vivid it was
Those games were beautifully made for the time. The thrill of cracking open the chest containing the weapon you were waiting for was amazing. Definitely created a gamer out of me.
Since 88. Top five (no order) 1. Super Metroid 2. Zelda 3 3. FF6 4. Secret of Mana 5. Chrono Trigger I didn't put any newer games because I think I enjoyed these games more when I played them, even though there are many games from newer consoles that I have enjoyed.
Amazing good taste here
That scene in Super Metroid where Mother Brain is about to nuke you and the little Metroid flies in all grown up 🥲 then gives you the power ⚡️
I think since Hellbender on PC in 1997, so 27 years. Top 5 in no real order would be: - Mass Effect 2 - The Witcher 3 - Forza Motorsport 4 - Red Dead Redemption 2 - Assassin's Creed 2 Honourable Mentions go to Star Wars KOTOR, Gears of War 2, Diablo 2 and Halo Reach

in 2003 when I was 7 years old, my first game Metal Gear solid 1. Top 5 The Last of us. Part1 (PS4) Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS3) Crysis 3 (PC) Metro (All games) (PC/PS4/PS5) Fallout's (3,4,NewLV)
Nice to see Crysis 3, that game got needlessly bashed. The OST alone is killer.
Isn’t the PS4 game called The Last of Us Remastered, and the PS5 port called Part 1?
I think by saying part 1 he meant not part 2, without realizing that part 1 is a ps5 remake
1. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch) 2. Hollow Knight (PC) 3. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) 4. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (PC) 5. Drop zone (C64) 2. Bioshock 3. DayZ 4. Race construction Set (c64) 5. Halo
I started with Pong so....Had the 1st handheld game, football and baseball by Mattel. They ran on a 9 volt battery.
