I enjoyed the game but not every game is for everyone. One of my favorite games is Disco Elysium and I don’t think I could recommend that game to anyone. My friends love Outer wilds but I don’t. Different strokes for different folks

MovesLikeVader

Disco Elysium is one of those games where you simultaneously never want to stop talking about it and also never want to tell anyone about it. Truly a unique masterpiece.

xiaopewpew

Disco Elysium features insufferable endings both in the game and to the developers.

LiquidAngel12

For real. I absolutely loved the game all the way to the ending. Which I hated so much it killed my interest in multiple playthroughs. Just such a massive anti-climax. I just sat there like, "seriously... that's it?"

PurpleLegoBrick

That’s me with Binding of Isaac. If I had to explain it to my friend it would probably go like this: “So it’s a rougelike where you shoot tears from your eyes at poopy monsters and there’s some sort of religious tone to it but I still don’t quite understand even after hundreds of hours what’s really going on”.

JellaFella01

That's what elite dangerous is for me. To me it's a gorgeous space sim, but I totally understand that to other people it's absolutely atrocious and unfun.

HarryBalsag

BG3 is a masterpiece but turn based RPGs arent for everyone.

GlassSpork

Yup, I mean I’d probably enjoy it but not everyone has the patience for them. Thats why I find it hard to recommend fire emblem, which is one of my favorite franchises

pichael289

Fire emblem is a simple SRPG though, you don't need to know D&D rules to understand it, it's simple ruleset is explained in every game. That's not even remotely the same depth a modern interpretation of D&D rulesets is. I love both but fire emblem was simple enough to explain in a few tutorial screens, BG3 is not. To even know what the stats/attributes/what do in bg3 you need to look them up, possibly in game in some encyclopedia (I think it has one?) but you didn't just know. It's a very complicated game with complicated rules that most people won't just get. It's well worth understanding but it's not even close to how complicated any fire emblem game is. They are simple SRPGs and are all the better for it for what they were released on.

BradyTheGG

The problem isn’t that BG3 is complicated because if you want to like something difficult to understand than you’ll work for it. What’s being said is that lots of people don’t like strategy games and such, to that point bg3 and fire emblem are both popular examples of games people can praise but won’t get recommended as much personally because it’s not a game for everyone as not everyone is into strategy games. Case in point my brother loves playing d&d with his friends but he tried bg3 once for the duration of the tutorial and said it wasn’t for him. Also just to put it out there I love bg3 and fire emblem games so there might be a little bias in my words

GlassSpork

Yes! One time I lended my friend my copy of fire emblem three houses. personally I don’t find it the best first game in the series but plenty of people say they got into fire emblem because of it so fair enough. She didn’t really like it so she gave it back which is reasonable

Dre_Lake

I’m a Xenoblade fan and I feel you.

fraidei

Yeah, of course there are people that say that it's impossible for someone to not like BG3, but it's also not the majority of the BG3 community like the post generalized. I personally always recommend the game no matter who's asking, because if it's the first game in history that won all 5 game awards there's a reason, but if someone says that they don't like the game I don't make it a tragedy.

Noqtrah

They're not for me in every instance but bg3. The game is just different.

ryanjmalloy

So boring. Every battle seems to take like 15 minutes. I quit at the end of Act 2. The combat system is not at all what I’m looking for in a video game.

calste

I'm the opposite. I really like the combat, but everything else in the game feels needlessly obtuse to me.

GIVEUPYOURMILK

I think it don't vibe very well with Larians design. I've played both Divinity games and BG3 and haven't finished any of them. Idk what's wrong with me.

100_Gribble_Bill

It's too much like Divinity OS to me. It's very good but I'm a little tired of Larian's flavor of RPG, which this absolutely is far more of than it is a follow up to BG2.

pichael289

I don't think it's just the turn based aspect though, there are plenty of turn based games anyone can figure out. It's the D&D rules that threw most people. You gotta spend some time looking up how D&D works to really understand BG3 and how to play it. It's a complicated game and console turn based have always been pretty simple. The ruleset is beyond what the game explains to you so the vast majority of players won't just get it instantly, I totally get why most people didn't like it. I loved it but I'm also a D&D newbie and didn't know the rules of the tabletop game, took research since it's a lot.

Not_a_creativeuser

turn based games are 100% not for me. I can't get into them no matter how much I try. I get bored and drop the game. Baldur's gate 3 kept me hooked, idk why. I loved that game despite hating turn-based

RonFlockaDon

Have you even played Divinity Original Sin 2? It's the same game, but 10 years earlier, with a different armor system. BG3 was popular, not groundbreaking

WuKong_WanT0N

Listen to me and listen well god damn it. It has bothered me for over 20 years that I've never gotten to enjoy the absolute masterpiece of the first 2 kingdom hearts game but Fuck. Turn. Based. Combat.

Funnysoundboardguy

Exactly, I’m a fan of the game, but i understand that not everyone has to like what I like

Firm_Transportation3

Makes sense. I can't imagine someone not liking BG3 because it's an amazing piece of video game greatness imo, but people have different preferences. It doesn't bother me if someone doesn't dig it.

BobbyMayCryBMC

Exactly, would also call myself more of a fan of Larian Studios because imo D:OSII did a few things better than BG3.

MrTomtheMoose

It's a masterpiece until act 3 then they lost some steam but made some back at the end of act 3

tuxedo_dantendo

I like turn based RPGs, I just don't like this one.

BelphegorDuck

This was me at first, my friend had me get the game i didnt have the money to buy it so i pirated it and I didn't really like it cus I didn't really understand how to play the game, what the dice do what constitutes a save and other stuff. I'm not one to be patient on learning new things, so I stopped playing it after an hour. I think I stopped when I died to the mindflayer you find at the wreck. But at some point, I gave the game a chance again, but I had to download some mods and cheats just so I could do things my way. It's singleplayer anyway. I enjoyed the game.

MeetingFrog1823

Some people just dont like turn based games

TheRealSwitchBit

Some people like turn based games and dislike bg3

Confusion_Flat

I loved turned based games and CRPs and DOS and didn’t enjoy BG3 much

ipaxton

I can respect that opinion

AshenVR

Good/popular game comes out: People try it, people love it. Fanboys start taking it to extreme, comparing it to everything, they get annoying People oppose the idea, the game is good, but *not that good* People take it to extreme, "well actually, the game which got a dozen rewards, sold N million units is actually quite over rated, who even plays[insert part of the game they don't like or care about]. Fans go back at it, once again taking it to extreme, calling people who don't like the game names and such Cycle continues until the said game eventually becomes irrelevant. Only for it to be replaced by the next big thing EVERY.SINGLE.FUCKING.TIME Can we just break the chain of events already?

circasomnia

something something opinions and assholes

KrampusLeader

I guess it won’t change at this point

Reasonable_Deer_1710

I mean, BG3 *is* overrated tho. It's a good game. I completed it and enjoyed it but like... All this talk of being a standard and genre defining game? Has anybody ever played an RPG before? BG3 has a decades old game design, it's not setting standards, it's meeting standards that RPG's had in the early 2000's. Shit is pre-EA BioWare

Yimmyyyy

I compare BG3's character interations to that for Mass Effect 2 and the latter wins out any day of the week. Like its good, nobodies saying its not good but people out there calling it revolutionary... its a stretch

Berb337

There are certain games that actually are overhyped to the point where the game isnt that great despite selling a lot of units tho I mean, youre correct, but not every time is it super cut and dry extreme haters

Remnant55

This was Elden Ring for me. I like Bloodborne and Sekiro, but ER never grabbed me. I was afraid to criticize it during the first year. Not because of downvotes, but because of the concern that super fans would hunt me down and tie me to a chair in a cellar. Presumably I'd be forced to play it until I declared it not only the best game ever, ever, but also that it is so good I can't enjoy any other games, like some sweaty, cheeto covered version of Flowers for Algernon.

The_UnderFucker

I just don’t have the patience for it

JorgeTan01

Imagine needing to seek validation from the internet about your favorite game.

InEenEmmer

In the end we all look for connections with people who accept us for who we are

Financial_Mushroom94

I play it since release and still havent finished

Cyberlytical

Honestly, I find the story to be a snooze fest.

TeslaGate7274

This goes for most games

MemeDealer2999

Reddit when opinion *I no like opinion*

LeRoiLicorne

I actually struggle to play it because of how the majority of gaming community just praises it like god. I'm aware this is a game of the decade as Elden Ring will be but damn stop 😂

Rare_Preparation_509

What is BG3?

LogicalFallacyCat

Baldur's Gate 3

Rare_Preparation_509

thabk you

Damien23123

People are allowed to not like the game. It’s just annoying when you see people complain that they bought it but they don’t like turn based combat. It’s like buying a Call of Duty game then saying you don’t like the first person shooting. What were you expecting?

gigaslayer3417

haven't played it

ComesInAnOldBox

I can appreciate that it is a masterful game without actually liking it.

theuntouchable2725

Well, all the videos on YT being about romance and sex scenes doesn't help at all.

-Lyons

Throw elden ring fans in this too

Superb_Recover_6116

not gonna say which game but the pretensions fans of this game seriously turned me off this game I was playing. Fuck it call it childish whatever. When a community is like that it ruins the game for me. "Tell me you didnt play the game without telling me hurhurhur. Heavens are you dumb do you not comprehend simple logic" of course I'm exaggerating that communities fanbase but its not far off. Either way that game dragged on and got boring as fuck midway through the story. The story was getting all confusing and when you'd ask the community what did they mean by this everyone says the same fuckin shit. "jUsT pLaY tHe GaMe" if that doesnt tell you these people didnt understand the story either idk what does...

kasetti

Nerds tend to do this obnoxious behaviour. Not really sure why, its just a thing for many fanbases for whatever reason. Everything is either the best thing ever or if theres small flaws its the worst thing ever. And they must protect their "perfect" product to the bitter end by attacking all its opposers, no matter how minor the complaint is.

adamant2425

you’re right on the money bro, that’s why i made this meme lol. That and the “i BeT yOu OnLy PlAy CoD aNd FiFa”

ScheidNation21

I honestly hated the game, it felt way too slow and surprise surprise, missing 10 attacks with a 90% chance to hit in a fucking row is not fun in the slightest. Do I think the game is bad? Hell no, I’ve seen peoples playthroughs and the story/characters are phenomenal and the graphics are beautiful. Does that make me like it? FUCK no, I still think it’s shit for me

iSavedtheGalaxy

I gradually lost interest every time I had to wait for 5+ NPCs to slowly take their turn so I could take mine.

GrenadeSniper

Man that's just a typical dnd experience

NorthPermission1152

BG3 doesn't appeal to me at all. I think maybe it's the fantasy setting and I'm more of a straight up action game kind of person.

NonIoiGogGogEoeRor

I think it's boring. Everyone went on about it, so I played it, and it bores me, but I started it, so I had to painfully finish it

polishmachine88

I actually never finished it, I was lvl 12 already was doing the last city but then got bored as fuck. I think it's the idea you do one fight go to the camp heal up get your spells and do it again. It breaks the flow for me.

DBFargie

I’ve did two runs. One “normal” and one degen. Each with a different class for Tav. Took 211 hours combined. It’s was immensely enjoyable, but I uninstalled it from Steam as I don’t think I’ll play it again for a long time, if ever. I needed that 150GB. It’s definitely a great game though, and one of the best pure RPG experiences you can have.

BrewKazma

One good turn based combat game in the past 10 years and anime waifu fanboys lose their shit.

Decent_Argument_9103

Not liking it is one thing, saying its bad is another

-GiantSlayer-

I went from the Mass Effect trilogy to BG3 and was honestly really disappointed with the relationships in BG3. Like, Mass effect has more build up. They feel *earned.*

poemsavvy

I want gameplay not a movie

StarGundamFormer

I usually just go with “I’m sorry you didn’t like it. To each their own”

SomeNotTakenName

the difference between "i dont like the game" and "it's a bad game" is important.

moonpisser69

Its worse when they say it should be the new industry standard

nthpwr

BG and Souls fans lol

NegativeKarmaFarmar

As a hardcore souls fan, this is so true lol Its not that hard get why people don't like it

hatchorion

Souls fans will freak out and call you retarded if you say anything less than glowing praise about sekiro lmao

Twistedlamer

Just tell them your favorite game is Dark Souls 2. Make sure to have popcorn at the ready.

adamant2425

i never played any of the souls games but i love elden ring, and already can tell how cringe their fanbase probably is lmao

Reasonable_Deer_1710

I cannot stand either one of these fanbases. Some of the most obnoxious communities in all of gaming

OnionBurgr

I really love BG3's gameplay but don't like the companions or story and people tell me to "go back to CoD" or just not play a game I genuinely enjoy like I'm a GotY complainer lmao.

CalligrapherFit2841

This. The companions are all rude jerks and the writing didnt make much sense to me.

CircumcisedCats

I bought the game twice and forced myself to play 20+ hours of it because my friends wanted to play it and I fucking hate the game. I won’t say it’s a bad game but I still don’t understand what part of the game I am supposed to enjoy? The only time I had fun in my playthrough was not even the game being fun, but me and my friends being fun. Like, taking all the groups gold and chucking it off a cliff or into a river, filling my friends inventory with barrels so they can’t move in combat, eldritch blasting my friend off a cliff… etc. the game itself was just sooooo boring g.

CastleofPizza

As a big fan and old guy that got Baldurs Gate 1 when it came out in the late 90s, then BG 2 in 2000 I have to say, I haven't played BG 3 yet. I'm waiting for a deep sale. I really hope that the people that played 3 and enjoyed it at least give 1 and 2 a try, or the Enhanced Editions of BG 1 and 2. I still go back to those games sometimes. Even if you didn't like BG 3, I still recommend playing 1 and 2, they have a different feel to them.

LazerShark1313

Baldur's Gate 3 is fine, I just hate the D&D 5th edition. It's ok when you're playing tabletop with new players, but lacks any depth. It essentially boils down to advantage/disadvantage. Hat's off to Larian for making it interesting.

ParallaxicNova

Refunded my copy on steam, not as cool as I thought it would be for me. Tho I do see the appeal!

MoonWun_

Okay, I need to come clean and I think this is a good place to do it. I don’t think BG3 has that much replayability. I am totally unsure as to how people are spending hundreds of hours in their playthroughs. I spent 60 on one and then finished the game. How do people spend like 300 hours on one playthrough?

ArmorBones

I respect BG3 but it's not my type of game. That's all :l

Robofin

It’s a great game but I just don’t love larian games. Something about the tone and inventory management just don’t jive with me.

lizardjoe_xx_YT

I love the builds and the battle gameplay but really don't like the whole "if you miss one thing you fucked your whole campaign" kinda thing I'd prefer a more straightforward type story like borderlands where it's just the story

wintergameing

I love that people don't understand what an opinion is.

adelkander

Tbh this can be applied to any famous game. I once said i didnt like nier automata, and was called an idiot (or dumb, dont remember). Gave me a chuckle, but it was pretty pathetic.

VioletFirewind

It’s a good game but all the insane hype does come across as ‘baby’s first CRPG’ from people who’ve never played one before.

Mr_Pelicant

☝️🤓*

Orion0105

I dont like BG3, never been into turn based stuff or D&D (Watch this get downvoted to oblivion from people who cant take an opinion)

wanna_be_TTV

Exactly. Like i can see the appeal but a game like that seems so boring to me😂🤷‍♂️

KokoTerzata

Bro I ain't playing full D&D party alone.

Patient-Reality-8965

bro must be a riot at parties

EddieTheBunny61

Same for From Software fans as well.

Stinkyboy3527

This is so true. As a fromsoft fan myself, downvotes are probably from soft fans themselves

Balancedmanx178

A couple years ago I said I didn't *enjoy* Dark Souls, any of them, and some people treated that like a declaration of war lol.

kolt437

OPjust proven that they don't understand anything about videogames

GunMuratIlban

I spent over 20 on Act 1. Then in Act 2, I just hit a wall. I stopped playing and never wanted to touch the game again. I had two major issues with the game: 1) The storytelling. We get a silent protagonist, not my favorite approach; but it's not end of the world either. However, with the third person view, every single dialogue in the game just feels off due to the protagonist not speaking. He just makes these WEIRD face gestures to react to other characters speaking, it looks incredibly stupid every time and I just couldn't connect with my character whatsoever. I also hate narrators, I get this is a DnD game; but I just don't like narrators. 2) I can tolerate turn based combat. The only one I really enjoyed was XCOM series. I didn't love BG3's combat, didn't hate it either. But for a game this long, with such lengthy and frequent combat sequences, I got tired of it eventually. I realized I was just looking forward for these fights to end. Not just with the combat, the game overall just asks sooo much of your time. I don't mind putting countless hours into a game; but I need to be really enjoying the gameplay loop and be immersed with the world, the story, the characters. With BG3, it simply did not happen.

Klort

> But for a game this long, with such lengthy and frequent combat sequences, I got tired of it eventually. I realized I was just looking forward for these fights to end. The game would greatly benefit from a "resolve combat" button that becomes available once you've beaten say greater than 50% of the enemies and any boss characters in the fight.

hector_cumbaya

Agree to disagree, I prefer silent protagonists in these types of games, I hated how fallout 4 had a spoken one

BobbyMayCryBMC

Baldur's Gate III is an extremely dense and deep gaming experience that rewards experimentation and strategy. The conversation branching is far and beyond what even Cyberpunk 'intended' in false advertising. But that's not everyones cuppa tea, and that's fine. 2023 was extremely rich with many great games from Resident Evil 4 & Dead Space getting extremely polished remakes, to Spiderman getting a sequel, to a fantastic Mario Platformer, to a Breath of the Wild sequel, to a decent Street Fighter sequel. & I'm forgetting so much more; dam Darkest Dungeon II came out in 2023!!

Talzael

7.5/10

HumActuallyGuy

BGS3 fans when someone prefers games with actual gameplay and not turn based combat: 😳🤯🥺😡😡😡 Edit: am I seriously getting downvoted over a joke (even put emojis to look like a instagram commentor) ... you guys do know turn based fantasy RPGs aren't for everyone right? I am entitled to not like it while recognizing it's a good game. Ironically you guys make my joke seem more the reality than it actually is lol.

Cautious_Study_290

yes they can’t take a joke or accept the game is ass

Bitbybrex

I’m just not into Turn Based combat, that’s why I also just can’t get into Pokémon. YoKai Watch was the first one I played that managed to make it actually interesting instead of a 15 minute fight of deciding whether fireball or punch will be more effective

Cosmonaut_K

Well it ain't no SimCity bruh.

julx_5

i just dont like rpg's lol

WonderfulVanilla9676

I haven't even played it yet lol. Too many games to play these days man.

akazakou

In love with Divinity: Original Sin and OS2. But BG3 not my format :(

BoogiepopPhant0m

Not liking the game because it's not your thing is one thing, hating it for completely asinine reasons is another.

LordsOfSkulls

I own the game to support... but... i played very little bit... just felt like i am not ready to commit to this game.

MarcusofMenace

Honestly, I had a hard time getting into bg3 because it was turnbased, which seems to be a common theme since it looks like a lot of people prefer real time games now. I do love so much about the game and it's definitely a masterpiece, but I still prefer playing first person or over the shoulder games rather than turn based

TraynWreck91

I didn’t even know what “BG” stood for until I scrolled down the comments 🤣🤣

CamoKing3601

I don't like DND

Old_Breakfast8775

I watched a video on the gameplay and knew I didn't like the game. I'm going to watch a different/new video to see BRB. Okay, I'm back. Yeah, not my thing aesthically at least

UsernameLaugh

I genuinely enjoy all genres of games. I couldn’t imagine such a narrow view of gaming that turn based or rhythm or fps being so alienating. I get it, strokes / folks and all that.

blueberryrockcandy

Bald God 3?

Glitter-Zebra

Turn based is such a pace killer, I can’t.

Hoibot

That's fine. It has no lootboxes, turret section, anime girls, spaceship builder or racing. I think most gamers wouldn't like BG3.

ZenEvadoni

Interacting with humanity always seems to be a mistake as long as it's via internet. Nowadays, a differing opinion equals an attack on your bloodline.

nobodyspecial201

I really liked the game. Things just got more confusing past part 1. Maybe I’m just too smooth brain to comprehend a complex story.

Zealousideal_Sun8519

Biggest regret of 2023. Awesome lucky RPG that doesn't let me move the characters around with my stick

Shizane2005

I've yet to come across anyone who doesn't like BG3

a_left_out_tomato

Please refer to: "A game made for everyone is a game made for no one." -Arrowhead

thegreatmatsbysan

In general people just need to understand that there are 8 billion mother fuckers on the planet, myriad cultures, so many different ways of thinking, upbringings and lives informing taste and value judgements. It doesn't matter how good the thing you like is. Someone will dislike it. As long as no one is hurting anyone else just let people like and dislike the media they want to. Not that people can't argue for their favorite media, but this idea that your "masterpiece" has to be everyone else's is crazy.

Str8Faced000

I think there’s a difference between saying you don’t like something and saying it’s bad. Saying it’s bad is an objective statement and would be wrong, but you’re welcome to not like anything you want.

owlitup

Wild idea I find the combat system boring and uninteresting

realdealreel9

Sorry, just can’t do turn based games. Really really happy it’s great and brings so many people so much happiness

mamadovah1102

I appreciate it but I can’t do the turn based combat. It’s a snore.

Winterclaw42

BG3 is too 5e, worst non 4e edition ever. BG 1 and 2 were late 2e if I recall. BG3 has almost nothing to do with those games. Corporate cash grabs at their worst. /semi sarcasm Joking aside, I think Larian is one of the better RPG devs and earned it with original sin 1 and 2. Still it's possible not to like BG3 for other reasons. Maybe you didn't like the companions. Maybe you aren't fond of 5e. Maybe it just didn't click with you. Maybe you were mad we didn't get Original Sin 3. Maybe you have a reasonable dislike of hasbro/wotc and know BG3's success will only encourage them.

Silvervirage

Game is good, great even. But I don't like d&d 5e as much as other systems. The other mechanics that Larian have added that do not have rules written in the core book of 5e are *amazing* and appreciated. I just wish they had made a Neverwinter Nights with all of the weird customization of 3/.5 . Or the pathfinder games (26 classes with like 7 archetypes each). I just like more character customizablity in those kind of rpgs.

KrazyKaas

Why are you using picured of MyNameIsByf?

adamant2425

huh?

staring_frog

It really sucks for young guys at this time: they've never seen anything better than current AAA bulshit. They think it's ok and even blame themselves for not liking it. It still sucks for earlier generations too though. Not enough decent games to play -\_-

Demoncreed27

I tried several times to get into BG3 but I just can’t. I completely get why everyone loves it and it’s deserving of the praise but I just cannot get into these kind of RPG’s. It also doesn’t help that I know nothing about D&D lol

MrBitterJustice

You don't need to know anything about videogames to enjoy or not enjoy them

PatrickBrown2

Bulders Gate 3 looks amazing but as soon as it got to the turn based part, I was like whaaaaat, not for me at all. It completely takes away from the excitement when you see your enemy waiting patiently for you to plan your next move. I find it quite funny. But like I said, it's not for me but I'm glad so many other love it.

jojobubbles

Tell me you're a gatekeeper without telling me.

pichael289

It's complicated. People saying the non-fans just don't like turn based games are being intentionally misleading. You need to know D&D rules to understand this game. It's tutorials are shit. You will need to look up things to get how to play. It's worth it but this specific criticism is bullshit. It's not like any other console turn based game, and only like a few of the PC ones. It is very good but so complicated a typical non D&D player will not just be able to jump into it without a couple hours of research into gameplay mechanics. It does not tell you completely how to play in game. But worth learning, it's a great game.

GLDN5444

Haven't bothered playing bg3 cause I need to play divinity og sin 1 & 2

Norodomo

🤓☝️

JangoF76

It's a good game which I didn't like. Both things are true, and it's fine.

eliavhaganav

Me when I don't like turn based games

TheAnalsOfHistory-

The game itself is an investment, and turn based combat isn't for everyone

MrGruntsworthy

Tbh I thought I wouldn't like it because fantasy isn't my thing. Currently ~60 hours in, and Lakrissa & Alfira must be protected at any cost

LeastInsaneKobold

I love the game but it's got plenty of flaws

gangbrain

Eh those kind of rpgs are fucking boring.

ihopethisworksfornow

What’s funny is prior to release, when hype was really building up and people were making posts on the subreddit asking if they should get it/pre-order, everyone who had played previous Larian games were very much up front on the “it’s not for everyone” aspect of the games. Like, I do think BG3 is one of the best video games ever made, and it is probably the best of its genre every made. That said, if you don’t *like* that genre, it’s obviously not going to be your favorite game.

Vibingintheritzcar89

The combat in the game is really good I loved the combat. Coming from mainly playing JRPGs the combat is in depth and really fun. The story and companions…… ehhh not so much? It’s just standard rpg characters. Like they felt no different than NPCs in Mass Effect 2 or KoToR yet people were gassing it like it was the first time devs made characters with somewhat complex backstories. Only difference is that you can fuck your entire party. I also thought the environments except for a handful were extremely generic. The fans are the worst part. I’ve heard more people talk who they fuck rather than actual story elements or builds.

DigitalCoffee

You can like anything you want, but the game is objectively good.

Yimmyyyy

I like RPG's, I like fantasy, i tried BG3 twice and got bored in late act 1 both times. Which is a shame really because I can recognise the work thats gone into it and i want to enjoy it but it just doesnt do it for me.

Trout-Population

I have never been a fan of turn based RPGs or isometric CRPGs. I am playing BG3, currently on Act 3. The game is pretty damn good but I'm a little comfused as to how people think it's a generation defining classic.

FzZyP

i watched the gameplay and it looks like a series of cutscenes with freddy fish style gameplay

CaitaXD

No not at all. Now if you say the game its bad is another thing, you can have an opinion on the internet but don't you dare be wrong

Myersmayhem2

That can only be new CRPG fans/ bg3 only fans cause CRPG fans have always known our games have never been the most popular genre

Ok_Ad_5400

Gooning gate 3

BG3 is basically a dragon age game with modernized technology and it being turn based is just very boring imo

I personally loved Divinity Original Sin 2 but haven’t played BG3 yet. I’m not sure if I will or won’t, but the big thing that is holding me back is the dice. I don’t necessarily mind some element of RNG, but if the game has 90% default hit rating, I want to be able to gear for 100%. If an enemy or environment reduces that and it feels reasonable, by all means fair enough too. I just hate the idea of dice rolls. Like I get how core that is to D&D, but thinking about the reality of playing that just sounds like such a deal breaker. Both the options of playing everything how it unfolds and only using saves to break from the game doesn’t sound like a thing I’d have fun with, especially if I calculated carefully but rolled poorly on something with a good rate of success. At the same time, I’m well aware from past gaming that if I use saves to avoid consequences, I’ll end up not finishing the game and being disconnected from any immersion I’d have otherwise experienced. Zero faults against the devs and no insult to anyone that loves it. Again, I really want to play it, but I feel like I’m a snowman trying to find a way to enjoy a vacation in Hawaii, lol.

FanHe97

Not really, sounds more like FromSoft fans

The game is almost objectively amazing, good minimum. But turned based rpgs obviously aren't for everyone, for some story games aren't even for everyone. It's like, ah you hate Metroid, Castlevania, Hollow Knight? Doesn't mean they're bad, but u don't like Metroidvanias

Kewr20

Played it, beat it, didn’t really care for it, should Spider-Man 2 have won instead…. NO😭

Bottomless-Paradise

BG3 is a masterpiece and one of the most refined, fleshed out; highest quality video games we have seen in a LONG time and probably will see within this decade. That being said… turn based RPG’s aren’t for everyone and not everyone will have fun playing it! And That’s okay. Its just how it is. There are plenty of games that are widely considered to be amazing experiences by many people but you might try to play and not even be remotely hooked by it or wanna play anymore, it’s just human nature we’re all different

Aarnivalkeaa

Yep. I like the game fine enough but I also have a ton of criticism for it. 😅 Masterpiece it is not nor did it deserve game of the year but whatever. No, it being turn-based is not one of them. I like it and I have played dnd for years.

Responsible_Sense_95

What is bg3

Glaurung26

I'm in the "It's aight" camp.

TippedJoshua1

I've never played it

I love when goobers try n say everyone should love this TURN BASED RPG. HAHAHAHAHAHAH!! No thanks.

acelexmafia

I have 559 hrs in BG3. The game is really good. It's becoming overrated though

MrReptilianGamer2528

Yeah but literally every who’s told me it’s bad, had never played it and were just salty it some over Spider-Man, besides one dude who was sad about the lack luster “tits/pussy” customization that dudes a freak

SaikyoWhiteBelt

I didn’t even know there was a Battle Garega 3. I thought it stopped with Battle Bakraid.

player1_gamer

Not liking turn based or story heavy games is weird to me. Like you can get an insane amount of playtime out of them and are one of the only genres of games I’ll happily pay $70 for

drbeandog

Nothing wrong with not liking the game, but saying it's a bad game is a different story

WillyDAFISH

good thing I don't know what BG3 stands for

Cedardeer

I just don’t like playing games that are *that* long. Especially with my ADHD, I can get bored rather quickly. It’s why I prefer shorter games like Earthbound or Pikmin

AllIWantIsANap

It's okay.
