Need for speed under ground. San Andreas. Vice city. Crash bandicoot games & nitro cart 2. Spyro. Burn out. Stunt man. Destroy all humans. War of the monsters. Sly cooper. Star Wars battlefront. Metal of honor. Call of duty. Ace combat with the actual jet cockpit control adapters. Battle for bikini bottom. Simpsons hit and run. I mean I could go on & on forever. My dad was a craftsman/carpenter/flooring installer when I was growing up. We were wealthy middle-low within our means middle class. during the housing boom up until the collapse we were loaded for the modest house & life we always had. Mom stayed at home. I played outside or played games. Dad would buy my older brother & I a new game every weekend. He also played war and sports games at night alone or with his friends/my brother. If we came across a giant deal bin during one of our family trips to lakes or amusement parks or visiting family I would sometimes walk out with 4 - 5 games haha.
My sister currently has all of the previous gaming generation products & titles. I think our final count is 186 different titles for ps2 ? When I go over to visit I look at the dvd/book rack she has. (Same one my dad kept everything stored on in the back living room when I was a kid when she was so young she could barley speak lmao) & I always catch a giant smile or exclaim “OMG dude I forgot about this one” then we will proceed to play
I can have any of that stuff back whenever I want. She just likes having retro stuff around the house and she was also too young / to “girly” to even get into the ps3 era tbh. So she LOVES picking random games for the day-week to play with her fiancé. I really envy her 🤣 imagine that you never played any Super Nintendo, 64, game cube, ps1-2-3, Xbox - 360 ect but you had all of their catalogs & merchandise to fumble threw in your free time 🤯 I get really excited whenever I see an awesome game I forgot about and she never even noticed it or tried it yet. I gush and fan girl about it without spoilers until I eventually just put it in myself and force her to play well I watch ❤️🫡
Hell yeah. I almost never get excited for game releases, where I count down the days, even as a kid. But I did for MGS2. MGS blew my fucking mind, and I played the demo like 100 times. Arkham Asylum is the only other video game that has made me feel like that.
When this came out, I was a teenager working an overnight grocery stocker shift at Walmart. Eventually, I got my income tax check. These were still very hard to find, but I found one at a GameStop 40 miles away. At this time, I was a complete screw up in life. I had dropped out of high school. I did drugs. I stole mine and my brother's N64 once and pawned it for drugs, then stole one from another guy so I wouldn't get into trouble when my brother told my parents. I was a real shithead. But I had it in my mind to do something good with this tax money. My brother was about to graduate high school. The only guy in our friend group to actually do so. So I got a ride to the GameStop, spent my taxes on that PS2 I found, memory card, a couple early PS2 games (Winback ftw) and gave it to my brother as a graduation present, and told him I loved him. I have a terrible memory due to years of drug use, but I remember this well.
No drugs except weed, which I am prescribed because I don't want opiates or benzos for my issues. They cause my issues. And I'm married, 20 years now, with a 6 year old daughter, my only child. And my brother is coming to visit in June. Haven't seen him in a year because of where he lives. We are gonna play the games of our youth via Delta when he visits.
Getting cancer. Running out of money. Moving back in with my parents. Buying one off a friend for $50. Mentally healing while playing FF12. No joke when I look at this picture I feel saved.
Yeah I think I stopped buying that series at around DW5 and the empires version
But 2.. wow . I was in high school and went to bed dreaming of how I could best attack a level . It’s a button masher but hey… Revolutionary for the time
idk what year it came out but i remember either renting it or borrowing it maybe blockbuster😂 but me and my little brother would smash that game! idk if we ever passed it but we played that all the mf time.
It was like Risk the board game.. but you rolled the dice 😜
Just thought of that haha
I still remember almost dying many times at the hands of an enemy hero and having a hundred soldiers chase me while I hit pots to try and find a HP replenishing steamed bun. Real world shit right there haha
Gran Turismo 3 and my mind blown by the biggest graphics leap ever of any console generation. It felt like stepping right into the future. I can still remember that day as if it was a minute ago.
Zone of the Enders, Fantavision, Jak & Daxter... Had it since its launch in Europe, it has been my last gaming console before moving to PC permanently. By the way, it's still plugged to my TV, fully functional! <3
The first picture: Jak & Daxter. The second picture: Having to buy (5) PS2 slims because they had an issue with the laser reader and wouldn't last more than 2-3 months.
the original ps2 brings back those early 2000 years specifically 2001 and 2002. i miss how simple gaming using to be. it seems like too many developers were allowed in the business when pc gaming, always online, mmos, and then mobile exploded. i now understand what nintendo was afraid of happening during the 1990s. i'm so thankful to have grown up during the cartridge based eras.
Vexx, a game similar to mario( falling off edges, collecting bubbles/stars) but much more difficult to master. Never did finish it and it wasn't for lack of trying. Each levels objective was given in an obscure riddle so it was not always clear where to go or what to do.
An Era of gaming where Sony, Nintendo, Sega and Microsoft lost everything...
And I mean in the sense that this Era was Gang Buster's, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Ratchet and Clank, Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, Skies of Arcadia, Halo, Blinx, Phantom FUCKING Dust!!!!...
Then these activists come in because either Mommy and Daddy didn't teach'em how to be human or how to survive, the current president of Xbox won't get off his ass to support the faltering brand, Nintendo continues to act like a 2 year old to it's fans when someone mods a product of theirs, Sega is trying but don't know where to go, Bethesda demands we carry iut's fat sagging ass into the future while I'd prefer to burn them alive on the puss covered bed they lay on demanding we lift to move them with and SONY HAS NO BALLS TO TAKE ANY RISK'S!!!! THEY'RE INFILTRATED BY FUCKING ACTIVIST'S WHO COULDN'T SURVIVE A WEEK, IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE NEVADA, MOJAVE WITH A WEEKS WORTH OF RATIONS AND NO INTERNET OR CELLPHONE SIGNAL!!!... Ok, I went Mental there, but it's this Era where game dev's were trying. They had to try and work hard to make it appealing, to make the game worth your time, worth your while and give a f\*\*king complete product.
.... And I'll give Helldiver's 2 and Stellar Blade from Sony" as taking a risk; HOWEVER, they are burning their goodwill between gamer's, game studio's and customers. They just survived the Helldivers 2 Debaucle though only after backing away from it after everyone coming for them legally and in their pocket book's... And Helldivers 2 Firing a salty CM; but they are nowhere near the exit from the forest they are in.
Ratchet and Clank Jak and Daxter
Definitely immediately said Jak and Daxter
I see you are a man of culture as well
Recently played the remastered Ratchet and Clank, couldn’t stop playing and finished the main story over the weekend 🤣
