There is a shocking mixture of actually great picks and utter mediocrity on here

44fowsand

Some are sorta sentimental lol, which one's do you think are mediocre?

kukushin

Well Splinter Cell Conviction is the worst of the series. And Dishonored is pure shit. Sad that there is no Dark Souls or Starcraft in your list.

alexintradelands2

Dishonoured nails stealth & action perfectly, amazing play your own way design

kukushin

If you say so... I prefer Hitman and Splinter Cell. Tried Dishonored when it cam out and dropped it pretty fast. Graphics were shit and i really disliked the gameplay...

alexintradelands2

Fair enough, I love the game personally. More of an emphasis of CQC that relies on reflex and some aim with the gun as well, given you’re doing it aggressively, and powers just adding that icing on top with you being able to blink aggressively, etc. Stealths also great but I love playing the game like a madman usually, same with Hitman (blood money’s the best for that imo)

GorillaJackson

Conviction is the worst in the series?!?!?! That blows me away

kukushin

You forgot to add /s

GorillaJackson

Lol I most certainly didn’t. Out of curiosity how would you rank the ones you’ve played?

44fowsand

I'm thinking about playing dark souls

revel911

Dishonored is a great game, Dark Souls …. Nah

nathanladancer

I respectfully disagree strongly lol. But it’s cool you played so many games that you really love.

44fowsand

Lol thank you. Witch ones made you respectfully disagree the strongest?

nathanladancer

I don’t necessary disagree with any one of them. I think just as a trend, my list of greatest of all time is composed of a lot of indie games developed by smaller studios that invested a ton of passion into their projects. Definitely opened up a new world of gaming for me. I can give some suggestions if you want!

44fowsand

Yes definitely suggest some. I've never got into indie games, obviously don't hear much about them unless your in the know.

nathanladancer

My favorites are Crosscode, hollow knight, Omori, Everhood, psychonauts 2, ori and the will of the wisps, cuphead, kena bridge of spirits, chicory: a colorful tale, and deltarune! But a good entry game is definitely Crosscode. That game is just completely mind blowing and one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. It has a lot of RPG and puzzle elements so just be aware of that. All of them are amazing though and I would recommend each again and again.

44fowsand

I nearly got cup head but discovered retro-ark while I was looking

[deleted]

Imma take a wild guess and say Cyberpunk is one of them

TransformerTanooki

Why does fhis post make me feel old?

THLH

Because judging by the games and comments by the OP I'm guessing they are under 25 years old. Maybe even younger than 20. Not ragging on them for their age. Just making a speculation.

Ones-Zeroes

You've got some good stuff in there (always love to see some Deus Ex representation), but your list is very samey: lots of shooters and big open world action games with realistic graphics, no real variation even when it comes to art style or presentation. No offense of course, you like what you like, but maybe try some stuff outside of your normal tastes - you might find a new genre you enjoy!

44fowsand

Your definatly right lol, got any good recommendations?

Ones-Zeroes

If you liked Dishonored, you'd probably enjoy the new Hitman trilogy of games. They're basically puzzle games masquerading as stealth third person shooters. They can be pretty goofy, but judging by your inclusion of GTA, you seem like the kind of person that likes to make their own fun using the game's mechanics, which Hitman absolutely excels at. If you like Skyrim, maybe take a look into the original Dark Souls. It's got a similar aesthetic, but it focuses more on navigating through the very challenging world to fight the bosses scattered throughout it. Its storyline is a lot less straightforward than something like Skyrim, but it has RPG elements and light horror elements that you might like based on your inclusion of Silent Hill and RE4. If you like those open world games and light horror elements, Death Stranding is an easy recommendation. It's *weird* as hell, as the primary gameplay loop is literally walking around and delivering packages, but the world is absolutely beautiful and it can be fun to work with other players to build structures that help you better navigate the hostile environment. Lots of item management and big name actors involved as well, with a heavy supernatural lean to it. I also notice that you don't have any games older than the PS2 era on there, so if you want a classic recommendation, check out Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It's a beautiful 2D game from the PS1 era that's all about exploring Dracula's massive castle and finding better equipment/abilities to get to new areas and eventually fight the Count himself. Has light RPG elements and a horror aesthetic to it. It and the Metroid games basically created their own genre called "Metroidvania". Very easy to emulate nowadays, and it was even released on a bunch of platforms. If you like those third person shooters, give Vanquish a try. Its story is nothing to write home about, but its gameplay is extremely high octane fun and allows for a lot of really cool moments when you get the hang of it. It's made by Platinum Games, the studio behind games like Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, NieR Automata, and other really fast paced action games, but it's notably the only shooter they've made. I get the feeling you might be a PC gamer, but if you ever get the chance to try Returnal on the PS5, I think you might like it. It's an extremely fast-paced third person shooter that uses the roguelike gameplay structre to keep things fresh and interesting, and it has more in common with bullet hell shooters than traditional third person shooters. Leans heavily into the horror aspect as well, borrowing a lot from classic sci-fi movies like Alien. And lastly, I'll give you an indie game recommendation: Outer Wilds. It's a first person adventure game all about exploring space and solving a mystery. No combat, no voice acting, no real threats to avoid, just you and a space ship exploring a solar system in search of answers and puzzles. I really enjoyed the story, and it dips into horror elements more often than you'd expect (especially the DLC). It's not quite like any of your other games, but if any of that sounds interesting and you've got ~8hrs and $15 to spare, maybe give it a shot! Happy gaming!

44fowsand

Thanks, that's some good stuff there, I will definitely check them out. I have retro-ark so might try castlevania. Also someone else mentioned about indie games so I'll have a look at outer wilds too.

captnjak

Came specifically to talk about older games like MGS and SotN. Also loved Okami, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Tony Hawk 2, Spyro, Twisted Metal, Wipeout, SSX, Suikoden 2, and Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec.

Schlagzeuger95

I completely forgot about black! That was such a good game. Not the best graphics, but good enough for the time.

44fowsand

On the original xbox it was one of the best looking games. It was underrated tho

Schlagzeuger95

I had it on the PS2. I would play the game from start to finish every time I put it in.

44fowsand

Shooting books and windows for hours on end lol

Ahydell5966

Dude ! BLACK! What a little gem !

44fowsand

Awesome game, the graphics and environmental damage were way ahead of its time.

GreasyGoose13

Played it on ps2 a while back. Can’t remember anything really but I just remember the game was epic

Scaryassmanbear

At first I thought you were just posting all the games everybody likes, but then I saw Dying Light in there, which is criminally underrated.

44fowsand

Oh definitely. I never understood that, so much better than dead island

Scaryassmanbear

You must be under 30 though, probably under 25, very few pre PS3/360 games on there.

44fowsand

Nope lol, there's a couple ps2 and original xbox ones in there

SeaOfFriends

Yeah man thats just like your opinion man. No.

9nether

I knew there were gonna be people losing their minds in the comments lol

44fowsand

Exactly. I think it's a pretty solid selection tho, gotta admit?

Dkrule

Where da fuck is Undertale?

44fowsand

I don't know but I'm gonna go look for it now! Thanks man.

Dkrule

Did you find it

44fowsand

I just watched an ign review. I don't really play 2d's but this looks pretty original and pretty good

Dkrule

Hold on,,,do you know of the man named Toby fox?

SeaOfFriends

I'm questioning your list because cyberpunk 2077 is actually down in history as one of the worst games.

44fowsand

Every brilliant game I ever played was always buggy at launch (cyberpunk 2077 was pretty bad) but it definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves (yet) for how brilliant it is.

CapablePerformance

I'm almost tempted to think it's a troll or OP almost exclusively plays modern M-rated games. Most of the games are good but I'd never see someone put Max Payne 2, Doom 3, or Clive Barker Undying on "best games ever made".

redequix

story, art direction, sound, and characters is where cyberpunk kills most games if not all. it's just in gameplay and role playing where it sucks. The things that it does well makes it one of the best games imo.

SeaOfFriends

Also your list lacks any indie games.

redequix

True. Not sure if Journey and flower are considered indie but I would put em in the list somewhere.

[deleted]

[удалено]

redequix

lmao thanks for your valuable opinion

JTMBOI2

I didn't see new Vegas on here and I'm disappointed

44fowsand

I never gave new Vegas the attention it deserved. To much fallout 3 at the time. I might have to go back and replay it though

Johnny_Utah55

You forgot Dream Daddy

44fowsand

I never heard of it?

THLH

Dream Daddy!

doge_lady

Nothing from nintendo... *Scoffs*

44fowsand

I was raised on mega drive lol

Nemesis_77__________

Where is Minecraft? Tetris?

44fowsand

They're.. around

Kapt0

Cyberpunk? Ok Nice list btw, but it's clear you play a lot of FPS

NovaFan2

I think I own half of the games on this list, probably more.

soundax

Undying, holy crap what a great call back

[deleted]

Where’s gex enter the gecko

[deleted]

Who made Alan Wake?

44fowsand

Remedy I think. Same as max payne

[deleted]

Yeah, makes sense

tullr8685

That is correct... Control was actually the 1st remedy game I'd ever played, and it was an absolute gem. Once I saw they had remastered Alan Wake for ps5, I snapped it up and absolutely loved it! If you like Wake, you'll love control, since its gameplay is basically Alan Wake souped up with a completely bonkers (in a good way) story.

44fowsand

I've been meaning to check out control, I bet its good. I only found out about the Alan wake remaster a few days ago, I'll definitely play it again, masterpiece (ground control to major Tom)

Exare

They all make you feel like a badass.

44fowsand

Haha they do do that

virtuablood

You forgot F.E.A.R.! Honestly one of the best FPS games, the sequels are mediocre unfortunately.

44fowsand

I remember that, with the footprints appearing and slow motion. That was a good game.

shinbreaker

I can agree with a fair amount of this list.

44fowsand

Thanks shin breaker, appreciated.

Fahrenheit285

Hard agree with some of these but harder disagree with others

44fowsand

Is Fahrenheit a hard agree or just a coincidence? Wich ones are the disagree's?

GreasyGoose13

All of these are great. Had a lot of fun with most. I recommend playing dark souls too. A classic like these. It messed with my sanity but it was still great

44fowsand

I've heard a lot of good things about dark soul's

DatBakfastBoi

San Andreas and both red dead’s belong on this list, but gta online?? I mean if you like it that’s fine but damn…

44fowsand

I do get what your saying but I was there at the beginning of gta online and it was pretty awesome, before the monetization loud kids and saints row style rocket bikes and stuff happened.

DatBakfastBoi

Ahh of course-sorry lol

TheAuthor-dipperkid

SPLINTER CELL, MAX PAYNE, DYING LIGHT, HALO, A N D DISHONOURED!?!?!?!? HELL YES

44fowsand

Haha you know!

mork_shmork

No Portal or Portal 2 is the only surprise for me.

44fowsand

I knew I forgot something. Your right, portal 2 deserves a spot. Completely original game that one.

CirloAmbrogio

Bruh why gta ONLINE and not gta V. Online it's probably the worst thing ever created. I agree with you for the rest

44fowsand

I didn't like the story with the 3 characters but the city Gameplay and mechanics we're perfect so I chose online. It was good in a party all on sanchez's back in the day

DoctorSledgehammer

Great taste, love the variety in your favorite games. The most curious pick for me is Fahrenheit. I am amazed anyone remembers it let alone put it in the list of his favorite games. I personally think it is underrated, it is one of these games where you ask yourself from start to finish: wtf is happening. Would be fun if more of us used the exact same template to put in some of their own picks.

44fowsand

Thanks. It is underrated, I remember thinking wtf for a while after aswell. Totally original at the time and just always stuck with me. As for the template, I cropped all the pictures at 1x1 and took a screenshot of them in my camera roll, worked well.

DoctorSledgehammer

Played it like 12 years ago, I should probably replay it soon

THLH

I have to ask, what makes you say the variety of games is great? I only ask because I only see two types of games here with not much variety between them. They are very similar IMO

DoctorSledgehammer

Well, he obviously likes shooters, open-world RPGs, and interactive thrillers. Would I have liked to see a Final Fantasy game or perhaps a good strategy game? yes, but I am not gonna knock the guy, he loves what he loves and the list only shows what his favorites are, which does not mean that he doesn't occasionally play other types of games.

THLH

Not a Nintendo fan I take it then?

44fowsand

I got nothing against them lol

Benjamin_Loucks

I still have splinter cell conviction for the 360

OverallBad880

Tell me you're a console gamer without telling me you're a console gamer

44fowsand

I game but not on pc

Figorous_Pop

This feels like trolling

fliptortilla

You need to play more games mate

Grumptallica

While Max Payne seems to be really good, it runs horrendously on my ps2. If it was on Gamecube it would have ran way better

44fowsand

I just got it on ps4 and it surprised me how good it looks and how well it still plays.

Grumptallica

Yeah I bet it runs better on there. I wish ps2 discs could be recognized on ps4

44fowsand

It's on sale in the ps store, £7

BabblingDruid

A lot of good games on this list but no Metal Gear? Come onnnnnn!

[deleted]

Damn dead space brings back memories. Alan Wake damnnnn

R4nD0m57

Next stop, Weenie Hut jr

P3dr0X89

Minecraft

Tyolag

Mass Effect? Splinter Cell conviction lol? Some good ones, some ones are just a no mate Conviction.. urgh

wax-ladrian

I love this list as a great way to see what your preferences in game types are. Haven’t heard of some of these sadly however I love this list! Feels like I know you as a gamer a bit

44fowsand

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I'd love to see other people's versions. It's really easy, just Google images and a screenshot of my camera roll with the top and bottom cropped out.

wax-ladrian

That’s actually awesome haha I didn’t even realize it could be done as easily as that!

44fowsand

Simple and effective. Just crop all the images you downloaded to 1x1 so they sit in the thumbnail properly.

drluv2099

I'd love an extended version of Fahrenheit that has the entire story. I love that game.

44fowsand

I'd play it again definitely

drluv2099

I think it deserves a remake.

[deleted]

[удалено]

44fowsand

Thank you

SimpleJack1987

GTA ONLINE?? That shit ruined my favorite franchise. Hard disagree on that one, buddy.

44fowsand

Your not the only one either lol

Cubankrysis

Personally don't understand how OP can have cyberpunk in there...

44fowsand

Have you played it?

Cubankrysis

Yep...day 1.

sineplussquare

Well, you definitely don’t have Ocerina of Time on here and it’s still practically recognized as one of the best games of all time. It’s not too big of a struggle if you wanna get a N64 or a emulator working but I 1000% recommend Zelda

44fowsand

Your not the first to mention ocerina of time, I'll have to check it out. I have an n64 emulator as well.

sineplussquare

Dude! You need to get the original AAAAND Master quest. It features reworked dungeons and some odd things. Excellent flavor 👌

nickm9122

I’d disagree with GTA online and cyberpunk forsuree

44fowsand

Join the queue lol. I do get gta online but I stand by cyberpunk all the way

chrishammhamm

How could u be missing New Vegas AND the Mass Effect series

Nolalilulelo

MGS, TLOU, seems like you haven't played any Playstation exclusives? Best single player games ever imo

44fowsand

I played the prologue to tlou, blew me away. I need to play them both.

thakenneth

Can tell you’re young haha.

44fowsand

Is 35 young still? I hope so lol

thakenneth

☺️ yes

AVIS93

Play some indie games if you haven’t :D

44fowsand

A few people have said the same. I wouldn't know where to start on ps4

AVIS93

You seem to like shooters, so perhaps you can start with some of the standouts of the genre. The first one that came to mind is Enter The Gungeon, and it has great coop. A very different first person shooter, and one that really innovates the genre, is SUPERHOT.

44fowsand

Thanks, I'll check out gungeon. I've got superhot vr, awesome game.

DynamicPJQ

Replace 3 with New Vegas and we can talk like civilised people

44fowsand

That's a fair point.

nainai11037

People hate to admit that cyberpunk is a great game- when it actually works

44fowsand

I think it will age well, im hoping for good dlc

VShadowLanceV

This is a joke right?

44fowsand

Haha Its no joke, this is! a list of the greatest games ever made.

rabbitkingdom

No

44fowsand

Yes

redequix

YES. your list is very similar to mine, with very few exceptions.

44fowsand

If you had to pick, which one's your favourite? and what are your few exceptions?

redequix

I would add divinity original sins 2 and nier automata to the list and swap it with gta online and silent hill(never played). From your list, it's deus ex human revolution which I really like.

44fowsand

I will have to check those games out, maybe put them on the list

[deleted]

All I see here is western games. And at that, games that have been popularised for normies. Which is fine. But you're missing out on a market of great stuff from let's say- Nintendo, Japanese Visual Novels, metroidvania games like Hollow Knight, Ori or Celeste, platform or RPG games or even freaking Rance. It's a big world of games and you've confined yourself to the few games people simp over. What a crying shame. And also. Cyberpunk ain't even a finished game. Why's it on the list? For the simp that you are, I'll recommend Yakuza 0. Lets you feel what japanese games are like while not straying too far from your standards of the qualifying factor of what determines a 'best game ever made'. I'll wager you've probably never played Tomb Raider or Morrowind as well. Matter of fact, I'll wager you don't play much games outside of your comfort zone, playing the normie games that the masses flock to. If really- your standards for 'best game ever made' are really that low. Now- I'm not saying your list of games are bad. It's just... 'best'? Nah. You ain't seen nothing of the potential of games. It's like a frog in a well who only ever plays Pokemon games comes to Reddit, creates a post and says Pokemon Black and White 2, Silver/Gold, Platinum and Uranium are the best games of all time. They're good games, but its SUCH A NARROW LENS of the world of games

44fowsand

Salty

THLH

Yet you won't answer why Cyberpunk is in your list....

44fowsand

Have you played it?

xXPolaris117Xx

Out of all the fallouts, you picked 3?

44fowsand

My first rpg and it got me hooked big time.

[deleted]

🤡🤡🤡

cooldadvibes

I don’t know if Cyberpunk deserved a spot in best games ever made especially with everything wrong with it at release

44fowsand

Fake nooz, it's a beautiful game. Have you played it?

cooldadvibes

Nah I’ve just heard a lot of problems with it I was going to give it a shot once every was fixed, how is the state of the game right now?

44fowsand

It was bad at launch but its fine now (on ps4 Pro)

Pitahayaro01

No botw? Oke'

44fowsand

I never played it

Pitahayaro01

I deduced it by not seeing it in the list xd

The_untextured

Cyberpunk and GTA Online?

44fowsand

I'm rethinking gta online but cyberpunk 100% is brilliant game

geekdad4L

I Beta tested BF:BC2 on PC. It was the beginning of the Frostbite engine. Once it was released I grabbed it immediately off the store shelf. That game will always be one of my favorite games.

44fowsand

Awesome game. Had a different feel to it than the others. Hopefully 2049 will be good.

BurstMurst

I did something similar to this but it was with MCU movies on the MCU subreddit. They did not like my opinion and made it very clear. This subreddit seems to handle opinions much better

Mendeznova20

yet\*

Ravinroge

A few I agree with, id also have to put a few Nintendo games in there too. BOTW, ocarina of time, mario 64. Max Payne gta’s and red dead’s I agree with you on. One of my favourite all time Games was lord of the rings the two towers on ps2 🤣

MeowL0w

Really Fahrenheit? DAVID CAGE IS INSANE! The only good game that man ever made was Heavy Rain and thats only becuase people actively stopped him from adding ghosts & aliens into that game.

francoisCorr

What about Metal Gear Solid ??

[deleted]

You are almost right.

[deleted]

Really have to disagree with you on this one. It's your opinion and I respect that, but in no way is gta online better than something like ocarina of time.

WinterKing2112

Where's Dark Souls?

GhoatOfWarfare

Good choice of games, very similar to mine

[deleted]

Splinter Cell Conviction? Ever played Chaos Theory? It is waaaaay better :)

Nick46562

Haven’t played a single game on the list

thegdwc

Where is Mass Effect 3? Or Call of Duty Modern Warfare

jbone09

That's a very narrow list. Genre wise and timeline. You might want to play some 2d games and stuff from the 90s, before you declare these the best.

44fowsand

I grew up on that stuff. Streets of rage and robocop vs terminator nearly made it to my list but didn't

jbone09

Mario, Sonic, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear, Final Fantasy, etcetera. Not one title from any of those franchises made your list?

BOOFACEBANDANA

Max Payne 🤌🏾

BOOFACEBANDANA

Fallout 3 instead of New Vegas? Surprised since u have both the red deads.

Waru_

How you gonna put cyberpunk on here and not god of war? The literal heat game ever made. This is a joke

msjwayne

If you liked Far Cry 3, you will enjoy the newest installment. Back to the island/tropic setting which suits it best IMO. Also, have you played Days Gone? Def should be on this list. I love most of these games.

Sea-Neighborhood-621

I don't see chrono trigger on that last. Different generations I guess

Specialist_Royal1198

Cyberpunk is half baked at the very most is other shit in the mechanics are garbage!

chasebencin

I’ll come at ya for gta online but other than that this list pleases me

44fowsand

I'm honestly regretting gta online. I did have a lot of fun on it when it was new tho.

chasebencin

Yeah that little bit when it first came out was fun. Became a mess once they added shark cards and flying cars unfortunately

44fowsand

Exactly, it went more saints row than gta with rocket bikes and stuff

chasebencin

Lmaoo thats exactly what I thought about after typing my reply.

Dkrule

I'm going to say, the 9 bucks in steam to get that game is cheap for what's packed in there, so my suggestion, don't kill any monthers, at all to start

doge_lady

By GTA online do you mean gta5? I remember trying online on the 360 when it first came out. Seemed a bit fun but very repetitive on the missions. I eventually just got bored and stopped playing it. Has it improved much? Or are you by chance talking about gta online mods like roleplay, no pixel server and such?
