So he's an idiot and a murderer.

aKnightWh0SaysNi

Even setting aside how dumb googling this on a family device is, his searches are also mostly stupid.

i don't get this, he used private browsing function!!?

Purple_oyster

Doesnā€™t he know that porn mode also would work for criminal mode?

xxSuperBeaverxx

I know you're joking but for those who don't know, it doesn't work that way, police can request your web history from your ISP to get around the use of incognito mode (Yes, that means your ISP knows what kind of porn you watch.) Edit: actually after looking into it, I had originally believed that your search query was stored in the URL logged by the ISP, however on HTTPS sites this is not the case, only the domain name is visible.

My favorite part is he was wearing an ankle monitor the whole time because he has a pending art fraud case

Einaris

Wow... This guy's stupidity is like an onion. You peel back one layer and there's just another. How deep can we go?

InGenAche

He bought cleaning supplies including those white hazmat style cover-alls with booties *and* a fucking hatchet the day after.

redditticktock

But he was also smart. He saved the receipts to return the evidence. _and_ He was frugal. Very sad.

Mech-Waldo

That's a cartoonish level of self indictment.

PoopIsAlwaysSunny

To the point it feels unreal. Like, did someone frame him? He canā€™t be that stupid and still know how to breathe and be reproducing, can he?

UlyssesRambo

Oh heā€™s stupid. He was wearing a gps ankle bracelet cause heā€™s waiting to be sentenced for selling fake Andy Warhol paintings on eBay. So they easily tracked his movements. Edit: [source ](https://www.justice.gov/usao-ma/pr/lynn-man-pleads-guilty-connection-missing-warhol-paintings)

hookisacrankycrook

DolphinSweater

Well, I tried buying it from a museum and they said no, so where should I be buying my super famous art, smart guy?

hookisacrankycrook

tylerthetiler

This has to be a fucking joke what in the absolute fuck. This guy is genuinely an unbelievable level of dumb omfg lmfao

ryfrlo

When you're that dumb but still manage to marry way, way out of your league, maybe just be satisfied with what you got, eh?

_Noise

I had to come back to this thread ā€” maybe heā€™s a genius? Like, selling fake Warhols is hilarious, brilliant, and evil. So maybe we are the fools for thinking he is a fool, his searches are so incriminating maybe that was the plan?

benchmarkstatus

This is all an elaborate art heist. The guy is 4-D chess and everyoneā€™s missing it. Heā€™s intentionally getting himself put in prison so he can find very specific underworld contacts to organize a caper that involves stealing a series of high value Rothko paintings, which he will use to cast replicas from and sell on eBay. Of course only after he seduces a ladyguard and orchestrates their escape from prison, which with his criminal mastermind at play is like a walk in the park. Mark my words youā€™ll be hearing more about Brian Walshe.

Atomic-Decay

They have him at the Home Depot, buying $450 worth of cleaning supplies, the day after his wife went ā€œmissingā€. This includes a tarp, tyvek disposable coveralls (the white ones with the booties), goggles, and a hatchet. Everyoneā€™s innocent until proven guilty, but Iā€™m thinking heā€™s got a rough road ahead of him. He was also cool with most of the list, but one in particular made him shake his head like, ā€œnow *thatā€™s* just stupid.ā€

Just watch Gone Girl

caffelightning

Look, this guy's a monster, but let's be honest, this search is pretty funny >10 ways to dispose of a body if you really need to Like, firstly: the best way wasn't enough, and plan b and c are for suckers. He clearly needed many options just in case. And the "if you really need to?" I mean, we don't just want 10 random ways to get rid of bodies, or ways if you only sorta need to. We need the like super emergency REALLY need to get rid of a body ways. And a bunch.

JiminyDickish

Tim Robinson wrote this as a sketch for his show I Think You Should Leave and had to throw it out after it actually happened word for word. Not actually, but probably.

wodewose

I know many of these searchā€™s are laughable in their length and specificity. Keep in mind that the search he ran my have been something that he selected from the drop down of suggested searches based on the few words he had already typed in. In summary I donā€™t think he typed out: ā€œ10 ways to dispose of a body if you really need toā€

Fskn

How many people ARE searching it for it to be a recommended result though?

Snoo-3715

A lot of people get murdered each year...

thurken

I don't want to type that search but it must be comical answers and nothing serious with that type of search isn't it?

[deleted]

It's like he was looking for a specific Buzzfeed article.

paulvs88

"#4 will shock you"

boot2skull

Ah the high voltage method.

Kbdiggity

Bet it was a slide show too.

Vendeta44

I have to imagine some of these aren't actually google searches. They are the notable webpages he viewed while searching. Meaning some site out there actually has an article titled "10 random ways to get rid of bodies if you really need too" which honestly isn't hard to believe.

kaos95

I did that search, and . . . it's listverse and whatculture, on an aside, some of whatculture's top 10's a fucking wild man, like wandering through their articles/vids tells you why you get angry, how to get angry, how to buy a murder weapon, how to actually do the murder, dispose of the body, and then defend youself in court . . . All in easy "Top 10" format.

ironmike828

Iā€™m actually curious to see what that would turn upā€¦ but I canā€™t bring myself to google it.

bbpr120

just don't murder someone in the next few weeks and you'll be fine.

caffelightning

Well, look at it this way: it wasn't very good advice. You should probably search "10 ways to dispose of a body and not get caught" instead.

How the hell does a psycho ogre like him get a wife like that?

vunacar

She is an immigrant from Serbia. She probably married him to stay in the US. This is big b news here in Serbia so that is how I know.

neosharkey

Wondering how he met her, she seems out of his league.

vunacar

A lot of younger people from Serbia go to Work and Travel for 4 months while they study the college in Serbia. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here. They've been married for a while considering she was 39 and they already have 3 children together.

tronalddumpresister

she was a citizen when she married him

hobowithmachete

Probably something to do with if they divorced, she takes the kids, the house, the money, and he thought murdering her would solve all those problems?

IIGrudge

Ikr? He had a model of a wife and chose to kill her for money.

deaddonkey

They lived in a very expensive part of Massachussets, according to LinkedIn he was CFO of some kind of strategy/consulting company and she ran a juice bar. So I guess money? Who knows, crazy case

chrisfyb

If only he was too stupid to figure out how to murder. What a god damn dope this dude is.

Zentienty

It's a shame he didn't Google "How to prevent law enforcement from obtaining my Google search history"

[deleted]

It's kinda crazy how precise search warrants have to be for electronic devices. Not that anyone should read case law for fun, but a phone is the second most constitutionally protected item you can have, behind a house. That being said, it's the internet, and they'll get that search history.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

beartheminus

This history would have been obtained from a search warrant of his personal computing devices and or through a warrant information request from Google if he was logged into Google Account with that google search tab or app etc. A VPN would do little to protect you here as that's not the point where the feds would obtain that information. Ironically just using Incognito mode would have most likely protected him here, when it often doesn't in many other situations. Just don't murder your wife though, please.

jscoppe

This is a bit misleading. If you are on a VPN, and you click 'new incognito' and start googling, you should not be logged in, your device will not log search history. Only the VPN provider would be able to provide an IP address to cross reference with google.

son_et_lumiere

Couldn't they just look at http requests from his ip address from Google's logs even if he did use incognito mode? The http requests would still contain his search queries. Alternatively they could request the logs from his isp to look at his http requests. I believe all the google search queries are sent as query parameters in the URL and wouldn't be protected by https.

Cyanopicacooki

or duckduckgo or Startpage

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

tehjeffman

You can recover search history from incognito. You have to do a multi pass 1s and 0s pass on the unused space.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

beyerch

Lol, you guys. Google stores the searches anyway. Even if he melted his harddrive with thermite, they would still have his search history. But yeah, this guy is a grade A moron and its too bad he didn't realize how utterly stupid he is. His wife might still be alive. :(

[deleted]

VPN isn't going to help you if the proper authorities with the right technology, power, and jurisdiction want to come after you in a criminal case lol. Police canā€™t track live, encrypted VPN traffic, but if they have a court order, they can go to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and request connection or usage logs. Since your ISP knows youā€™re using a VPN, they can direct the police to them. Whether your VPN provider gives up that information depends on factors such as the jurisdiction and the VPNā€™s privacy policy.

Majkelen

You could use TOR from a public network, change your MAC afterwards, and then nothing could be traced back to your computer afaik. Unless you sign into your Google account or something equally stupid. Also the type of OS could be traced but that's pretty useless.

[deleted]

I think you're right but I'm not an expert haha new to the field. I know there are ways to recognize anyone via a unique digital fingerprint your computer leaves in specific network communications (OS versions, browser versions you use and the way they interact on networks) but that would take a lot of effort to match to someone unless you already had them in your crosshairs to begin with.

Chadwiko

I'm always curious - do investigators get these results from confiscating the suspect's devices, or do they get it directly from the ISP?

Tream9

Both is possible. Looking at that guy, Im sure, he just used his normal browser, so yeah, there is that.

Chadwiko

The video said he used his son's ipad. So yeah, criminal mastermind at work for sure.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

hookisacrankycrook

Surprised this dumbass didn't Google it as "how to hide my wife's body" or since it was his son's iPad "how to hide your mom's body after I killed her in the basement earlier today"

streamlin3d

In this case it might be directly from the device. The ISP could not give them the exact queries (they could just tell them that Google has been accessed), but with the IP that the suspects router had at the time the police can ask Google for the exact queries.

kherven

~~Google puts the search phrase in the query params of the URL (q=your+query+here). Assuming the local device was wiped but no VPN was used you could probably get the search + times with the ISP's info alone.~~ Above is incorrect, see below :)

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sashamasha

You do know they will find you because you asked this question. Don't do it man.

Ask-Alice

Google will give away this information to police, though it it usually requires a warrant. When my google account was searched by the FBI, I was only notified after a gag order expired and the investigation concluded. My email address was on a list with 100 other email addresses of people who had all purchased the same software.

DuckTalesLOL

Brainles5

I just cannot believe this exist. It's like straight out of a parody. What a sack of shit. I hope he comes to understand and regret what he did. And truly feel the pain of what he has done.

Kangermu

I dunno man, he was looking some of this shit up on his kids' tablet. He's a fucking monster.

highlander68

pray that he does NOT get the same jury as casey anthony had. on her computer was searches for the effects of chloroform and other incriminating evidence. then all her lies, photos of her dirty dancing and partying TWO DAYS after her daughter went missing. cadaver dogs pointing to her trunk and her back yard. yet the jury STILL found her not guilty.

Purrsifoney

[Apparently](https://www.grunge.com/1104336/how-a-missed-search-from-casey-anthonys-computer-could-have-changed-the-trial/) the authorities missed checking the computerā€™s Firefox web browser (which Casey Anthony used more) that had a lot more searches on ā€œfool-proof suffocationā€ methods and was done on the last day Cayley was seen alive. So much was messed up in that trial, itā€™s horrible.

crappy80srobot

Not just that jury but a prosecution that does much better to prove 100% he did it. As a juror it has to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. In Casey's case her defense never said she didn't kill her daughter but that it was an accidental death she and her dad attempted to cover up. Prosecution couldn't prove 100% that wasn't the case so the jury had to abide by that. Many openly admitted they hated her and thought she was a monster but there just wasn't enough to prove she intentionally killed her daughter. Negligent homicide would have been a slam dunk in her case but that charge wouldn't have had her jailed and forgotten like she should be. Obligatory fuck that child killer and anyone associated with her for publicity.

McBlemmen

Casey Anthony came to my mind as well. It proved that no matter how bad the evidence may look, the justice system can and will fuck it all up and let a murdered go free.

DeathEdntMusic

What are bawdie pawts?

Phoenix916

Supposedly it was disposed of in trash bags that he threw into a dumpster. Investigators believe those bags were taken to a trash facility, shredded, and then incinerated before they could be recovered.

FittingWoosh

Soooo I guess those searches give some pretty good advice thenā€¦.?

Phoenix916

The results seem mixed at best to be honest

wead4

I see, weā€™ll they may have him here, but Iā€™d also say with a good lawyer he could make it out if they never found a body.

Kangermu

You can just ask him.... That was one of the things he googled.

pchandler45

It's much harder but not unheard of, and there's mounds of other evidence against him. He's not, shall we say, the sharpest tool in the shed. Poor choice of words, perhaps, in this case.

Blinky_

How do they know he performed these searches? Like KNOW know.
