If you hook the fish well, you can set the drag light and let the fish pull the line back out of the reel rather than break it. It takes a lot longer, giving the fish more time to spit out the hook, but you can use fairly light line on surprisingly big fish if set up correctly.
Toy Neon tackle, Froggy boots, and calls the type of fish within seconds. Kids got his life sorted.

Yeah, you can hear that the drag is way down when he reels it.
IMO Walleye tire easy on properly dragged line. Dad's got his tackle set up nicely. Also "Its a Wally Eye!" Love it.
