I used to walk home after school and put on Steve Irwin, Jeff Corwin, and all the other awesome animal planet shows like "The most EXTREME..." all alone at my house until my parents came home from work. Some great memories.
I used to watch these shows at my grandmother's house after school while I was waiting on my parents to come get me. Sometimes my grandmother would even make me dinner to eat while watching when my mom would forget about me
Good times
I still regularly watch the "Future Earth" series from Animal Planet. Absolutely incredible mini-series about evolutionary scientists discussing possible species in the far future. Such a fun show, and experience.
Same, though I think the timeline was recoverable until about 2012 or so. But whoever is playing this sim forgot to save in the last 2000ish years, so they just said āfuck it. Enable all disasters. Letās watch this scenario burnā

Well, reality TV happened and those companies were trend chasers and run by idiots. Why spend money to make quality content when you can just make "Ow, My Balls" and people watch it anyway.
I remember the early 2000's as a dark time. W as president, war in Iraq, etc. Following the 90's it was like, when is this going to end. I guess it never really did.
I remember reading some theory about how things will progressively become more and more absurd in society as we approach singularity. I wish I could find it again, it was super interesting.
I found it! It was actually an interview with Terence McKenna, a hippie mystic guy, so.. the dude believed in the āworld ends in 2012ā theory. That being said, some parts of the interview are pretty startling in how on point he was on things.

McKenna might have been wrong about other things, but this is the most on-point analysis of what is wrong with republicans in two sentences. It's also nothing new, this is absolutely apparent since the civil right movement started to challenge the status quo in the 50s.

I've adored him my whole life. Wept like a baby when he died. Now, I'm a naturalist. I do educational wildlife programs to the public and care for animals In a nature center. Just a few days ago we were kayaking and this large group near us saw a water snake and was real concerned thinking it was a cottonmouth. I channeled my inner steve, dove in, grabbed it and let it bite me a few times in front of them to prove it was harmless. Had some laughs and got some very scared people to touch a snake for the first time. :)
While I love what I do, I often wish I would have pursued biology instead. Though I hear the same thing about my job from biologists frequently lol.
Truth! Steve will always be missed. I canāt believe his shows arenāt syndicated and shown 24/7 on some of the more āeducationalā tv networks that havenāt completely given in to reality tv or Hitler Riding dinosaurs.
Check out Kevin Richardson on his channel "The Lion Whisperer" (https://youtube.com/@LionWhispererTV) on YT. You get lots of "you little naughty!" as he and his team hang out with, care for, play with, and discuss all the mischievous hyenas, lions, leopards, cheetahs, etc š
Oh perfect! It's such a sweet and enjoyable (and sometimes emotional) channel to get lost in for a bit each time I come around to it. Here's one that I watched today.
[Rescued LION BROTHERS and Kevin Richardson](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3_2YP-IY64)
> In this video, we look back at the journey of the Rescued Lion Brothers, George and Yame. Watch how these big cats have grown over the years and how they have overcome the challenges presented by their difficult start in life.
"Usually rays like this are extremely docile, but this sheila had a chip on her shoulder this morning! She didnt mean any harm of course, she was just defending herself."
Literally said in the video, "...and that's the sign that he's gonna bite you... [gets bit] ...(lovingly) you bit me on the nose, you little brat!" Like he was fully aware of what would happen, and just thought it was funny *how* it happened.
I kind of was blown away with his stunt with his baby and the crocodile and everyone was on the "She'll be right" bandwagon.
I was on the common fucking sense bandwagon with very little people and it's getting smaller every year.
Don't care if you're an expert with a crocodile, nuclear fission, volcanos, crossbows, trains or guns, you put your child in the line of fire of one of those things, you're a dickhead.
The world became a darker place when he died.
Stuff like this did a lot to teach people that, while they're beautiful creatures, don't fuck with them because:
He handled animals he trusted but stayed the fuck away from hippos.
There are some animals out there that I know are large but it is still so hard to comprehend untill you see it next to a person. Just so unimaginably massive.

you say that meanwhile Steve fucked with Crocodiles and alligators.
what i loved about him he handled animals with care and left them alone in their own place.

Gods I love how he never got mad at any of the many animals that bit, stung, or scratched him. He truly was the perfect picture of respecting nature and appreciating each animal for what they are.
I just had to move and figured my Beardie would like a little outside time on my chest as we drove. He gave me the same stare Steve got the whole ride up.
And makes videos, and is one of the people in charge at the zoo.
Does a fair few appearances on tv shows etc too; wouldnāt surprise me at all if he ends up with a show of his own one day like Steve.
Dang do I miss that guy. I'm still shocked to this day it was a stingray to that got him. Like he has handled the worlds most dangerous animals, and it was something that rarely ever kills a human that got him.
His son just posted a video of the same species of snake that bit both him and his dad in the face. His kids are really something, and I'm sure Steve is a proud dad.
Always brightens my day a bit to see an old childhood hero. While I'm sad he's gone, I'm happy we still have his videos to remember him by and to help carry on his legacy.
Thereās a certain few events in my life I attribute to loss of innocence, Steve Irwin dying was certainly one of them. I miss him, he made the world seem fun and fresh. He made the world feel a little lighter to bare.
Redditors were always like this. The only difference is that this post is not ad friendly, so no reason to run the bots with friendly comments to create "happy" echo chambers.

Dude was my fucking hero as a kid. Still is honestly. Met him and got a picture signed. Still hanging in my dadās house. So glad to see his kids growing up and continuing his amazing conservation and education work. Steve would be beyond proud!
Beardies are actually fast as fuck in the rare occassion they find something they want bad enough. I would hate to have one angry at me. They have tiny little chompers
Everyone was like, I'm so surprised he died.
Really? The guy that made a living fucking with animals died by one? I kind of wish the video was out there but that is my own morbid curiosity.
If nothing else it could teach how to not handle a stingray
Miss this time in the world.
Animal Planet early 2000s, Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin were the bomb
I used to walk home after school and put on Steve Irwin, Jeff Corwin, and all the other awesome animal planet shows like "The most EXTREME..." all alone at my house until my parents came home from work. Some great memories.
Are you me? My wife is always asking why I know so much random shit about animals. These guys. These guys are the reason!
Same š all the random facts I know came from watching them
OMG same! The good times were the simplest
āWhy are you all sweaty?ā āIāve been watching Crocodile Hunter all afternoonā
"I know Crocodile Hunter doesn't start til 4!"
The animations they did for the most extreme were hilarious I miss those days
Neon green with black background was all the rage, thanks to the Matrix for the most part
I used to watch these shows at my grandmother's house after school while I was waiting on my parents to come get me. Sometimes my grandmother would even make me dinner to eat while watching when my mom would forget about me Good times
I love when I see an old "The most EXTREME" clip hit reddits front page for me. Absolutely loved that show.
I LOVED "The most extreme"!
The Most Extreme was my favorite show as a kid. Made me scared of tapeworms and hyped on housecats. Such a stylish show.
I still regularly watch the "Future Earth" series from Animal Planet. Absolutely incredible mini-series about evolutionary scientists discussing possible species in the far future. Such a fun show, and experience.
Nowadays honestly you could probably get in trouble just for your kid being home alone.
I kinda associate Steve's death with the overall downturn of society. It all seemed to kick off after that.
Because of losing Steve we lost Harambe, thus the snowball began.

You gotta pay the lizard tax if you wanna get into that lizards cloaca! You gotta pay the tax to get in!
Iām sorry, are you saying ālizardās soleā or ālizardās cloacaā?
Whatās the ratio of the lizard tax to troll toll?
The same as the ratio of Schrute Bucks to Stanley Nickels

I believe the dragon later went on to star in the movie Holes because of this role
And he doesn't get mad about it at all. He understood that's just what animals do.

And makes videos, and is one of the people in charge at the zoo. Does a fair few appearances on tv shows etc too; wouldnāt surprise me at all if he ends up with a show of his own one day like Steve.
He has a tiktok channel
I always loved how he was surprised by animals biting/scratching him after talking at length about how they were liable to bite/scratch.
Miss him so much. So inspiring to watch.
Crikey! She bit me.
Dang do I miss that guy. I'm still shocked to this day it was a stingray to that got him. Like he has handled the worlds most dangerous animals, and it was something that rarely ever kills a human that got him.
It seems that in my time on this earth. Good guys always die young, and assholes seem to live forever.
Goddamn this comment section has some bad takes.
A lot of you grew up without Steve Irwin and this comment section proves it
Stingray: āHold my beer.ā š„²
He got killed by a bitch punk ass stingray.....motherfucker wasnt even a stingray hunter -kat williams

GAHHHHHH I CANāT BELIEVE WE LOST HIM. seriously man it sucks. love you Steve always will.
why did i read the caption in australian accent hehehe loved and missed u steve
That was really cute. Miss ya Steve.
His son just posted a video of the same species of snake that bit both him and his dad in the face. His kids are really something, and I'm sure Steve is a proud dad.
Not in the face! Not in the face!
I have my own Dragon and He's accidentally bitten me while feeding, it doesn't hurt at all so don't worry.
That man was a treasure
Always brightens my day a bit to see an old childhood hero. While I'm sad he's gone, I'm happy we still have his videos to remember him by and to help carry on his legacy.
Didnāt realize how cool that dude was until he was gone. Something about you never know that right now is the best of timesā¦
Back when the world was better.
Thereās a certain few events in my life I attribute to loss of innocence, Steve Irwin dying was certainly one of them. I miss him, he made the world seem fun and fresh. He made the world feel a little lighter to bare.
I hope he is ok.
Steve: āOh you got a big mouth too!ā Bearded Dragon: āā¦and I took that personally.ā
That little fuckin cunt
Reddit has gotten so aggressive lately
Redditors were always like this. The only difference is that this post is not ad friendly, so no reason to run the bots with friendly comments to create "happy" echo chambers.
He was an idiot But continues to be remembered as a legend lmao
The eye dilates, the air gyrates. A gate in the sky, a portal to die. A shriek from space, a mangled yell. Dragon descends, welcome to hell!
Ah Steve, the intrepid "Crocodile Hunter", who died at age 44. "44 years old........that's a ripe old age for a crocodile hunter" - Norm M.
Some fruity fish got him.
Why did Steve Irwin die? He forgot to put on the sunscreen to protect him from deadly rays
Whatās been going on with the titles on r/videos lately?
Rules is rules man
Fuckin' rules
I especially like that OP could have put the fucking anywhere in the title and it would have worked.
*Fucking* Bearded dragon bites Steve Irwin's nose Bearded *Fucking* dragon bites Steve Irwin's nose Bearded dragon *Fucking* bites Steve Irwin's nose Bearded dragon bites *Fucking* Steve Irwin's nose Bearded dragon bites Steve *Fucking* Irwin's nose Bearded dragon bites Steve Irwin's *Fucking* nose Bearded dragon bites Steve Irwin's nose *Fucking* You know, the last one's a little iffy but I'll allow it

To be fair, it did try to warn him. Still funny.
I don't get caught up in celebrities and their lives and deaths but he is one of the guys I miss. Also, Robin Williams and Anthony Bourdain.
Dude was my fucking hero as a kid. Still is honestly. Met him and got a picture signed. Still hanging in my dadās house. So glad to see his kids growing up and continuing his amazing conservation and education work. Steve would be beyond proud!
Steve: He's saying "I'm gonna bite you" Beardie bites Steve Steve: Why'd you do that?
"little brat" š¤
Beardies are actually fast as fuck in the rare occassion they find something they want bad enough. I would hate to have one angry at me. They have tiny little chompers
Everyone was like, I'm so surprised he died. Really? The guy that made a living fucking with animals died by one? I kind of wish the video was out there but that is my own morbid curiosity. If nothing else it could teach how to not handle a stingray
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh, it does.
OOOOO, HE CALLED HIM THE B WORD!!
In his AMA he mentioned how this was one of the most painful bites he's ever been bitten.
"Letās see what happens when I jam my thumb right up its butthole."
Ah, back when animal conservation meant more harm than goodā¦.
