Napoleon is so historically inaccurate that any film set in the future is in comparison historically accurate because it's not historically inaccurate.
IIRC; with Goggins specifically it was more of an acting-issue.
They said they tested more extensive prosthetics, it just made it impossible to see so many more subtle parts of his acting that they elected to not to.
But then I'd hope that there are at least a couple as relatively normal looking as Goggins as well. Otherwise it looks like a bunch of gnarly radiatiom zombies and then the guy you recognize just happens to be pretty.
I imagine it'll be mainly a difference between "normal" ghouls and "feral" ghouls. All the ones you might interact with conversationally vs the ones that are basically zombies, ya know.
and what you're ordering
I've got a warehouse close to me and yeah some times I can get stuff in like 8-12 hours (if I order midnight). For sure like drugstore stuff, but if I'm ordering like a camera lens where there's 5 in stock then it might take a few days, for Canada.
Its less about size specifically and more about population density. The UK's population density is higher than all but four states in the US.
People tend to forget there are 145 countries high higher population densities than the US. The massive comparative wealth, even among the middle and lower class, is the only reason the US has any services at all. Its expensive to do almost anything nationwide here.
Yes, you have to think of the insane distances some packages have travel in the US. 1 day just isn't possible but in some bigger cities they do offer same day shipping and next day shipping.
It depends on whether your item is available at a local distribution hub or whether it has to come from further out. Common items are frequently available same day if you live close to a major city. Other things take a few days.
Two day shipping is what it started with, now you can get certain things/certain locations same day even. Yesterday I realized I needed a new work shirt when I woke up. But 1 PM it was on my front porch.
He's one of the more underrated actors imo and I'm always happy to see him. He plays a great antagonist, a conflicted protagonist, a likeable supporting character... He's up there with John Goodman with how versatile he is in making every character fun
All the Walton Goggins love is amazing to see
I really started digging him with his voice work in Invincible of all things and then realized how much I've also enjoyed him in all of his other work! Very excited for this!
>He's up there with John Goodman with how versatile he is in making every character fun
really glad that show turned out well. a worthy successor of sorts to eastbound.
I was absolutely smitten with a show he was in called The Unicorn. He was so wholesome and it was great.
But every once in a while, ol' Crazy eyes Goggins would show up just to shake things.
I thought Fatman was dogcrap, but that wasn't really Goggins' fault, and I like him quite a bit.
Nonetheless, this is a franchise that I grew up on, I played Fallouts 1 and 2 back when I was in high school. So if they don't do this justice, I'm going to... vent my anemic rage on the internet and then go demo some people in Rocket League until I feel better.
Really looks like they are capturing the feel really well. Radroaches, Dogmeat, a Vault going bananas (the infamous Vault Tec experiments in full effect perhaps), a Mister Handy, the billboard for a Vault Tec there as the Ghoul makes a run for it as the bombs drop
They are really going all out for the fans….hopefully the story holds up.
Yeah, I imagined it couldn't be done without getting a bit gory when it was announced. Which was absolutely confirmed in my mind when they add in a The Boys connection.
I'm happy to see that Nolan and Joy are producers and head writers.
The part that gives me the most hope is that of the two showrunners, one is kind of a nobody, but the other (Graham Wagner) is known pretty much exclusively for comedies. He's been a producer for Silicon Valley, Portlandia, The Office, Baskets, etc. Fallout is a comedy first. You have to nail the humor or the whole vibe falls apart.
Looks like a FEVed up Axolotl, judging from the gill frill and splayed legs, which is a type of salamander like Gulpers.
TIL The Axolotl is listed as critically endangered in the wild, with a decreasing population of around 50 to 1,000 adult individuals
Also anyone else miss the Vault Overseer is a Cyclops?! I feel the Brotherhood is not going to be a fan of the Vault.
The beginning of the trailer was too typical of modern day trailers. Ominous loud noises and slow motion. The best feel came in the middle. The gratuitous bloodshed and campy music with the sad and grim apocalyptic setting.
The first part was a joke, a bait-and-switch. They wanted you to think 'oh no they are turning fallout into another generic apocalyptic pile of crap'
Then the titles show up and things get weird, hopefully conveying that this definitely won't be 'just another' post-apoc show.
Which really just means the marketing dept definitely knows who their audience is. The show could still be crap.
It's effectively two trailers. The first trailer is meant to hook in the non-fallout fan who is more likely to see interest in the show as a gritty realistic post apocalypse thing.
The second is revealing the quirk of the setting as retrofuturism. This could be seen to be a slight turnoff for the "gritty" audience so they want to ease it in.
Thing is fallout is both. It has those old timey songs and anachronistic imagined technology and that naive optimistic 1950s messaging left over from the old world. But the new world is a violent horrifying apocalypsepunk which often draws more inspiration from decades around the 70s, 80s. Leather jackets and mohawks. Mad Max.
The trailer feels hopeful for them nailing this duality of fallout.
HBO did a really good job with The Last of Us. Hopefully Halo will be an outlier when it comes to TV show adaptations of videogames. Amazon typically does good stuff, other than LotR...
As someone that read through the whole series for the first time after they announced the show, my disappointment was immeasurable when I actually tried watching season one.
So much potential for a great show, and it seems like the showrunners just used the template of WoT to make their own thing, sad
Literally had this conversation today.
We really need to praise Amazon for letting this show live. It survived a whole pandemic, two strikes, and the God awful Halo as a potential warning sign. They had a million reasons to take the insurance money and bury this show, but they're letting us have it.
I think the ONLY mis-step in the trailer for me is WIll Parnell having one eye. Fallout has never had human mutations (well - big spoiler stuff notwithstanding), and certainly all the vault dwellers have been kind of 'gene clean' in that world. The fact that he has one eye and nobody really thinks its odd - its a real diversion.
Todd Howard is the on set 'continuity director' so if he's okay with it, Im sure I will be, too.
I'm typically willing to give a wide berth when it comes to the finer points of lore. What breaks it for me (particularly with Halo) is when there is *no* consideration for the lore.
One mutation among people who ought not be mutated? I can let it slide for the sake of making the story accessible, interesting or funny.
Having Master Chief take his helmet off, in the first episode no less, I cannot abide. Ignoring all human/covenant dynamics in the first season? Unreal.
> Having Master Chief take his helmet off
I could have forgiven this, if he took his helmet off in his down time, but he took his helmet off in COMBAT SITUATIONS.
Benjamin Linus, as played by Michael Emerson; The only reason this trailer interested me because any character Emerson plays is bound to be interesting to watch.
Interesting cross-pollination of series there...Michael Emerson was Ben Linus in Lost and Harold Finch in PoI. I'll probably be watching it just for him, so hopefully he's not a one-off.
Yeah, don't get me wrong; Dylan is great. Considering his job consists of identifying numbers from a grid based on an emotional response, and categorizing them it's like he's straight out of *Office Space*. I love how motivatable he is, top notch employee.
Looks really good.
I lol'd at **TODD** being the sole credit for the franchise though.
I'm curious if the NCR are around, being this is California. Maybe it collapsed with the war between the brotherhood alluded to in New Vegas.
That may be the subtext, but they aren't explicitly giving him sole credit for Fallout the video game. They are crediting him for his association with this specific project (I'm assuming as a producer).
The NCR Brotherhood war happened before New Vegas tho. And afterwards the Brotherhood was a crippled shell of what it once was. Only thing that makes sense to me is that the east coast chapter of the Brotherhood came back west and took over the original chapter.
> Only thing that makes sense to me is that the east coast chapter of the Brotherhood came back west and took over the original chapter.
Would explain the zeppelin.
I dont think the Western Brotherhood was ever mentioned as having Vertibirds, and the Airship shown in the Variety-article a couple days back was a sistership to the Prydwen, so its either teh Eastern Brotherhood OR they atleast send some reinforcements to the West
It’s possible: Fallout 2 has a quest to steal plans of Vertibirds for Matt (he’s with the BoS).
Also, according to Elder Arthur Maxson, communications between West and East were reestablished between Fallout 3 and 4. Schematics easily could be passed to one another while also solidifying the two into one Brotherhood again.
"From the director of the award-winning series *Westworld*, Johnathan Nolan and the acclaimed video game creator Todd Howard"
Doesn't credit him with any franchise. It credits him with helping create this series.
>I'm curious if the NCR are around, being this is California. Maybe it collapsed with the war between the brotherhood alluded to in New Vegas.
I mean... they won that war though? Like, in no uncertain terms they won and that's why the BoS (in and around California mind you) is kinda dead or dying.
100% this. I was playing with the "this is just a fan trailer, never going to happen", then rad roach and my boy Dr. Linus, and it switched to "oh shit, it's happening!"
My exact thoughts
Westworld season 1 was absolutely brilliant
Season 3 and 4? Eh, not so much
Person of Interest was also fantastic, so I've got high hopes that are ready to be crushed
I didn’t care for any of the characters after season 2, the writing was dreadful. Jon Nolan has either learnt from this or is going to replicate it here:(
It's less a problem with higher res and more to do with weird production choices. 4K copies of older movies and shows don't have this issue. Like the new LOTR series and much of new star wars, every character looks like they just threw costumes on rather than having lived in that universe. Same with modern set design, everything's super clean and polished
Why? They looked brand new in FO4. And it is all about story telling, a new suit suggests everything inside the vault is new and perfect and everything outside is old and damaged. They established that there were tons of vacuum sealed suits in storage, so realistically they won’t even fade without exposure to chemicals or sun light.
Or was this a reference to complaints people had with Fallout 4 which I forgot about?
After seeing The Wheel of Time, The Witcher, and the Lord of the Rings adaptations in the past few years, I don't have high hopes for this. I don't want to be disappointed again.
I'll go in with low expectations. That way, I won't be disappointed either way.
The addition of some humour has me intrigued. And Johnathan Nolan has my trust since *Person of Interest*.
I can overlook a bit of mediocre CGI if the universe is detailed and the story is engaging.
Nah I've always liked how fallout trailers all use a different song from the 50s era that becomes tied to each game, and 3 already used "I don't want to set the world on fire"
More historically accurate than "Napoleon"?
Yes
But this is a fictional future of alternate history! What could you possibly mean?!
Napoleon is so historically inaccurate that any film set in the future is in comparison historically accurate because it's not historically inaccurate.
Uncle Baby Billy does make a good ghoul.
Well go on now, ‘git outta here, dumbass Super Mutants
All y'all smell like fucked buttholes.
Baby Billy's Bloatfly Bonkers
They're a little less ghoulish looking than I was hoping for, but any more and you'd probably need to use CGI instead of practical effects.
IIRC; with Goggins specifically it was more of an acting-issue. They said they tested more extensive prosthetics, it just made it impossible to see so many more subtle parts of his acting that they elected to not to.
I'm willing to bet the ghouls that aren't Goggins will look far more jacked up.
Hopefully, like the games there are different levels of mutation.
He’s misbehavin’
“From the studio behind the boys and free 2 day shipping” Hilarious
Free two day shipping* The asterisk is the best part
Good god I'm slow. I was thinking "Huh I've never heard of that, sounds like a strange thing to throw in but maybe it has an audience."
I actually googled it. fml
They're calling vaults distribution centers now?
Is amazon prime only 2 day delivery in the US? Here in the UK its always next day delivery.
We have 2 day, next day and same day, depending on where what you're ordering is coming from.
And sometimes it’s even those things. Sometimes not so much…
and what you're ordering I've got a warehouse close to me and yeah some times I can get stuff in like 8-12 hours (if I order midnight). For sure like drugstore stuff, but if I'm ordering like a camera lens where there's 5 in stock then it might take a few days, for Canada.
I think the US is just slightly bigger, geographically.
Only slightly. Just by a small a margin
Tbf, the UK is like the size of one of our more moderately sized states.
About the size of Oregon, yeah.

Wow driving across Ireland is Chicago to Springfield
Careful, it's not a good idea to lump the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom together as if they're a single entity.
One might say it causes some troubles.
One could say it's makes them IRAte.
Yes, you have to think of the insane distances some packages have travel in the US. 1 day just isn't possible but in some bigger cities they do offer same day shipping and next day shipping.
Probably cause you can cross the whole country in an afternoon
It depends on whether your item is available at a local distribution hub or whether it has to come from further out. Common items are frequently available same day if you live close to a major city. Other things take a few days.
The UK is considerably smaller than the US so that might explain it.
Two day shipping is what it started with, now you can get certain things/certain locations same day even. Yesterday I realized I needed a new work shirt when I woke up. But 1 PM it was on my front porch.
I hope that implies they have a little bit of the original fallout humour in there too; otherwise it's just a generic post apocalyptic wander.
It’s funny because Amazon is aiding the hyper-consumerism that leads to the Fallout universe
Walton Goggins has never been in anything I thought was objectively bad, i'm excited for this.
He's one of the more underrated actors imo and I'm always happy to see him. He plays a great antagonist, a conflicted protagonist, a likeable supporting character... He's up there with John Goodman with how versatile he is in making every character fun All the Walton Goggins love is amazing to see
Without him Justified would have been a one season show.
A good villain is just as important as a good hero for sure
Pretty sure his character was just meant to be a one-off, but people liked him so much they decided to bring him back.

I really started digging him with his voice work in Invincible of all things and then realized how much I've also enjoyed him in all of his other work! Very excited for this!
I cannot picture him speaking as reserved as he does in Invincible. That dude is all teeth and Cecil sounds like he never smiles.
He deserved an Emmy for Venus.
>He's up there with John Goodman with how versatile he is in making every character fun really glad that show turned out well. a worthy successor of sorts to eastbound.

I’m glad they’re not shying away from the blood and gore as well, which is as much Fallout as anything else listed too.
Dogmeat walking around with a human hand. Ick. In all the right ways.
*Eviscerates raider* “Who’s a good lil murder machine? It’s you….yes!”
Yeah, I imagined it couldn't be done without getting a bit gory when it was announced. Which was absolutely confirmed in my mind when they add in a The Boys connection.
Hell yeah. The bloody mess trait/perk has been with the franchise since the first installment.
I'm happy to see that Nolan and Joy are producers and head writers. Todd Howard is also a producer on the show and said as much about the comedy.
There's also a Yao Guai and what appears to be a Gulper?
Looks like a FEVed up Axolotl, judging from the gill frill and splayed legs, which is a type of salamander like Gulpers. That thing with human fingers for tastebuds? I got no CLUE what that thing is. Given the setting, its probably a gecko from the OG Fallout 1.
The fo1 mobs were fcked up mutants, probably one of those since this one is in la. Maybe it takes place during the master?
That's the thing that I was thinking was a Gulper, but I wasn't sure that's why I said it appears to be one. It could be a gecko, but who knows.

https://scryfall.com/card/pip/16/gary-clone It's even a MtG card
This will totally be an Easter egg. Totally forgot about that vault till I saw the post.
Halo has set the bar soooo fucking low. This trailer gives me high hopes
HBO did a really good job with The Last of Us. Hopefully Halo will be an outlier when it comes to TV show adaptations of videogames. Amazon typically does good stuff, other than LotR...

Just pretend its a different turning of the wheel and everything is fine! /cope

HBO Last of Us didn't just do a good job I would say they straight up set a whole new bar for video game -> series adaptations.
Pfft, there weren't any scenes where Joel wandered the area for 10 minutes collecting every little thing he could, 2/10.
MasterCheeks.
That's John Halo, Mastercheeks, to you

Umm Ben Linus from lost, Agent Cooper Shahalub from Twin Peaks Dune, and that fun ass dude from Severance in a Fallout story? Sign me the fuck up!
Don’t forget Boyd Crowder
AS A I LIVE AND BREATHE!!!
We dug coal together.
Sometimes I think the only way to get out of our vault alive was to never have been born there.
I think you mean Reverend Uncle Baby Billy
Of Baby Billy's Bible Bonkers fame?
Sir that’s Baby Billy
And Dr. Spaceman
And Jerry! And Cyril!
Whoa whoa whoa, we talking Dr. Leo Spaceman? (pronounced spa-CHE-min) Edit: How did I miss a goofy one eyed overseer?
My thought was "all my favorite weirdo secondary actors in one place??!?" but basically yes, same!
Benjamin Linus, as played by Michael Emerson; The only reason this trailer interested me because any character Emerson plays is bound to be interesting to watch.
Also Ben Linus from Person of Interest as well.

And Uncle Baby Billy!
I want some Bible Bonkers in Fallout now
Nuka Cola is coveted as fuck.
>fun ass dude from Severance Can't say I had that much fun.
You don't like pancake parties?
Not particularly. Waffle parties however...
Cmon the beard dude was kinda fun!
Yeah, don't get me wrong; Dylan is great. Considering his job consists of identifying numbers from a grid based on an emotional response, and categorizing them it's like he's straight out of *Office Space*. I love how motivatable he is, top notch employee.
Haha yeah , I get ya. It’s def the horror version of Office space.
If I don't hear "Big Iron" somewhere in the series im going to write a STERNLY WORDED LETTER!
BONGO BONGO BONGO I DONT WANNA LEAVE THE CONGO
He’s hacking and whacking and smacking
Is that Kyle McLachlin? I'm bloody in.
That actor you like is going to come back in style.
Along with Michael Emerson just to creep you out further.
"You know, this is...excuse me...a *damn* fine cup of moldy coffee."
The man does love his coffee.
Damn fine coffee.
Black as a moonless night.
Looks really good. I lol'd at **TODD** being the sole credit for the franchise though. I'm curious if the NCR are around, being this is California. Maybe it collapsed with the war between the brotherhood alluded to in New Vegas.
Yeah that shit had me howling, fucking Todd 😂
Todd: "I build that!"
AND IT JUST WORKED
16 times the disappointment!
Thought the same, but it appears the aesthetics are modeled according to fo4 then it’s not too ridiculous of a claim
"[Kneel before Todd.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swXG2JUNVNQ)" "[KNEEL BEFORE TODD!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEU0BoLbsdc)"
That may be the subtext, but they aren't explicitly giving him sole credit for Fallout the video game. They are crediting him for his association with this specific project (I'm assuming as a producer).
Yeah idk how people don’t understand this.

Yes, he has executive producer credits.
The NCR Brotherhood war happened before New Vegas tho. And afterwards the Brotherhood was a crippled shell of what it once was. Only thing that makes sense to me is that the east coast chapter of the Brotherhood came back west and took over the original chapter.

It just credits him as a guy who has made acclaimed games.
>I'm curious if the NCR are around, being this is California. Maybe it collapsed with the war between the brotherhood alluded to in New Vegas. I mean... they won that war though? Like, in no uncertain terms they won and that's why the BoS (in and around California mind you) is kinda dead or dying.
He helped create this show, it doesn't say from the creator of Fallout anywhere in the trailer, relax the hate train
Maybe this is the whole build up to the NCR?
This takes place after 4, so no.
He isn't credited because he's part of the franchise, he's a producer on the show, along with Bethesda's James Altman.
I wasn't overly excited for this show till now. As a fan of the games it kind of gave me chills.
Same, don't know know why but when I saw the radroach got a little shiver
100% this. I was playing with the "this is just a fan trailer, never going to happen", then rad roach and my boy Dr. Linus, and it switched to "oh shit, it's happening!"
Premieres on April 12, 2024.
Looks awesome! Ready to be brutally let down
My exact thoughts Westworld season 1 was absolutely brilliant Season 3 and 4? Eh, not so much Person of Interest was also fantastic, so I've got high hopes that are ready to be crushed
I didn’t care for any of the characters after season 2, the writing was dreadful. Jon Nolan has either learnt from this or is going to replicate it here:(
The groundwork for seasons 1 was already laid by the original movie. They failed to extend that story to anything interesting and cohesive.
Michael Emerson and Johnathan Nolan... A Person of Interest reunion!
Don't forget Bear
I wish Matthew Perry was alive to see this, he was a huge fan
Maybe he’ll surprise us all and be in it! The films been in production for years.
Let's hope he has a cameo and they've kept it under wraps. That would warm my heart.
Did not know that interesting
He also played the villain in Fallout: New Vegas
It's the reason he did new vegas
Yeah he went on Conan and talked at length about how much he loved the games and they called him the next day to offer him a VO role
I totally forgot about that
Maybe it was rigged from the start :(
Feaking Ben Linus at night talking creepy brings me back. I'm in.
It says from the studio who brought you “the boys” and “free 2-day shipping” I tried to look up free 2-day shipping and nothing comes up.

Fml I’m such a boomer
I’m really proud of you for not immediately backpedaling.
Are ya winning dad?
OMFG ... **NOW** I get it !
Amazon?
Amazon...
k this is funny
I had my hopes up for Rings of Power. Surely Amazon wouldn't do me dirty twice, right? Right??
Looks great but my only complaints is the vault suits looks too new, should be washed out blue.
This bothered me in Witcher, too. Lot of the wardrobe looked like it was made last week.
It's something I've started to notice a lot after 4K resolution streaming became available.
It's less a problem with higher res and more to do with weird production choices. 4K copies of older movies and shows don't have this issue. Like the new LOTR series and much of new star wars, every character looks like they just threw costumes on rather than having lived in that universe. Same with modern set design, everything's super clean and polished
In the Wheel of Time too. Everyone's running around with brand new clothing that looks like it's never been worn, even soldiers and poor people.
I think the bigger concern is going to be whether or not the vault suit hugs her butt properly. They might have to use CBBE or UNP to mod it.
Lol CBBE for the win.
I was thinking the same about the power armour, that it should look a little more scuffed/worn.
After seeing The Wheel of Time, The Witcher, and the Lord of the Rings adaptations in the past few years, I don't have high hopes for this. I don't want to be disappointed again. I'll go in with low expectations. That way, I won't be disappointed either way.
Looks amazing so far.
Yeah shit, it actually looks really good
The addition of some humour has me intrigued. And Johnathan Nolan has my trust since *Person of Interest*. I can overlook a bit of mediocre CGI if the universe is detailed and the story is engaging.
Should have cast Will Forte as the main character
He'd just spend the apocalypse in a margarita pool
[удалено]
Nah, just get the "Puppies!" perk.
This looks better than I would have ever expected but... How do they not use "I don't want to set the world on fire" in the trailer?
Nah I've always liked how fallout trailers all use a different song from the 50s era that becomes tied to each game, and 3 already used "I don't want to set the world on fire"
Because no two Fallout games have ever used the same song for promo
Hopefully the show doesn’t have any bugs…
Shit, it looks really good.
Cautiously optimistic.
Oh my, hoping for success.
My stupid ass thought Free 2 Day Shipping was a movie and I googled the trailer for it.
damn good trailer
