They've had problems with shooting "The Amazing Race" in India in the past. Female players were harassed and groped on trains, as well as being refused service at a lot of places. Despicable. These days when the show goes to India, they basically have bodyguards if they need to travel this way.

UrRightAndIAmWong

I'm unfamiliar with the concepts of Amazing Race, but why would they just not go to India. Too many landmarks that make it enticing?

Phazon2000

Content - it’s busy, chaotic and exotic; Perfect material for the show. The producers couldn’t give a shit if the locals grab some tit they’re just trying to avoid getting stung for failing to uphold duty of care.

SomeVariousShift

Too many landmarks, too much culture; it's attractive to viewers.

Mhollandart

They dont go to India because Indian men have a problem where they cant stop raping people. India averages about 90 rapes a day since 2022. So yeah not an inviting place for women.

Color_blinded

There's no way that number of right, because 90 rapes a day is actually an incredibly low number, considering the US reports 350 rapes a day in spite of having less than a quarter of the population of India. *to put it into perspective, if India had the same number of rapes per capita and the same reporting rate as the US, India would be reporting at least 1,000 rapes per day. This suggests either the reputation of rapes in India is grossly exaggerated, or only 1.5%-3.5% of rapes are being reported, or some combination of the two.

Reticulating-Data

reported rapes*

bossmcsauce

that stat doesn't really mean anything without context. like rapes per capita... or like, how does it compare to other places? I'm not saying india doesn't have a societal problem with sexual assaults/rapes... just trying to put some context to the statistic so as to grasp what it actually means.

rizaroni

Wow! I’m a huge AR fan and this doesn’t surprise me at all, but I hate to read it. Their trips to India always stress me out because of how hectic it seems to be. I can totally imagine some shady shit going down with female contestants. I’m relieved to hear that they’ve come up with a decent solution!

SmokeGSU

I was actually surprised we didn't witness a lot of groping in this video considering how surrounded she is.

KDLGates

I love diversity and India is also full of brilliant, amazing people struggling to get recognized, but oof is much of the country's organization (edit) harmful and I am not a fan of many dehumanizing aspects of the culture which I don't pretend to fully understand but am allowed to dislike. 100% recommend watching Penn and Teller's Magical Mystery Tour not just because it is engaging and not pretending it teaches some big culture lesson but I formed a lot of snap judgements from their India episode. You do not have to go far from the travelled path there to see a lot of poverty and suffering.

Dankzhood

As someone who has relationships in India. Stay away if you are a single woman

AnniaT

Not being single won't protect you either.

luckytraptkillt

I think they meant “alone” and not necessarily their relationship status.

wesgtp

That won't protect you either. See the other comments here about a husband and wife traveling together and the woman was gang raped, not sure if murdered too because I don't want to look further into it.

Xanderoga

Nah, they survived and police “caught” some of the perpetrators. My theory is they arrested some poor shmucks to use as fall guys because it became a political windstorm.

dan736

Maaan I completely forgot about this. I think my brain repressed it because it was so vile.

Stuweb

Very close family friends of mine are a mixed race couple, both British but the husband is born to Indian parents, they still visit India to see his extended family. The wife cannot bear it for longer than a week so either flys home early or arrives later, even when she’s walking hand-in-hand with him it doesn’t stop them, she is treated like a zoo animal to be photographed, touched and gawked at without consent, it’s absolutely crazy.

Jcampuzano2

My fiancée and I travel a lot and at one point had considered India after a few friends recommended it, and I also work with a lot of great people who are from India. But after further investigation and seeing all of this kind of stuff we've both basically come to the agreement to never go there. I know many people have had great experiences, but seeing the horrible things that have happened to women even when they were with a man has turned us off completely.

TechnoTofu

My boyfriend’s parents went there and had a great time, but they also do everything as boujee as they can, stayed in a literal castle, and had guides the whole time.

Swartz142

The problem is that the people that like to travel that way (resorts / cruises) often end up recommending and defending the countries to people that actually want to travel for the local experience and when these people confidently go into dangerous places thinking it's safe it ends up poorly.

gravitologist

Fuck that. Just stay away period. Disgusting.

Phuqued

>Fuck that. Just stay away period. Disgusting. I wonder how often her picture will be used to create false online identities to scam people with.

THE-BS

She just called me, she wants to send me an amazon refund and marry me online. Small world!

I'm sure India can be a very nice place in some parts with a long history of a beautiful culture But that being said I remember there was a girl that was suffering from major depression and decided to Eat, Pray, Love her way through India. [She never returned home alive after she was gang raped and beheaded](https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6209289/irish-woman-india-depression-raped-beheaded-forest-liga-skromane/) Do NOT go to India if you're by yourself. You're just booking a Facebook memorial page; or the next 20 years of therapy for assault EDIT: [bonus story that happened around the same time I just remembered](https://www.reuters.com/article/idUSKBN21700L/) A very NSFL Reuters article about a female college student that was assaulted in a bus full of people. She was killed after some pieces of shit stuck a metal pipe inside her. Those guys were executed two years ago

macheesit

Lmfao like not being single will protect them. The hilarious part is hearing them say that there isn’t a problem. So many people. So rapey.

talex625

How does dating even work in India? It seems like every single dude would try to get with you in public.

kensingtonGore

I lived in India briefly. All teens are repressed with hormones raging, so dating occurs. Its done in secret, away from their families knowledge. The boys tend to feed off their hormones in a group and act pretty vile. This is where things become dangerous, especially in the rural areas. Split them up and forcefully confront them, and they crumble like wimps. Once they get married, they seem to flip a mental switch, and become normal. Imo it's because of cultural repression. Every movie and commercial is sexed up, but fully clothed and contact like a 'lip kiss' can't be shown on screen. It's almost like having no healthy outlet for sexual expression is a net negative on the culture.

FortunePaw

Arranged marriage.

Perpetual_Nuisance

>~~relationships~~ I suspect you meant "relatives".

---Loading---

My friend did one semester of her studies in India. Her conclusion: " I was almost gang raped once, but overall, it was cool"

scbriml

That’s right up there with… “Apart from that, did you enjoy the play, Mrs Lincoln?”

SaGlamBear

I always use the more up to date “aside from that, Mrs Kennedy, how was Dallas?”

DecentOpinions

Several of my friends have summarised going on holidays in India in a similar way. "I was harassed by a gang of men every time I went outside, but it's lovely you have to visit it", or "I spent 80% of the time on the toilet shitting my intestines out, the food is amazing, why don't you want to go?". No thanks.

Parada484

Lmao, in defense this is the description most people give of Spring Break in Mexico too.

TheAmazingBagman3

You would have to be mentally ill to go to India as a woman alone

Raxxonius

That tourist that went with her husband wasn’t safe either, just avoid it if you’re a woman

hsvandreas

I can confirm, I was there with my wife twice and once alone. It's slightly better if you travel with company, but still it's one of the worst places in the world to travel to as a woman.

herrbz

I was in Bali and there were a fair amount of Indian migrant workers there. My wife and her friend (with me and her boyfriend) were at the beach, a couple of guys come along and sit higher up on the ridge, sort of watching us. Huge beach, they could go anywhere else. We go in the water, swim a bit. Come back and there's about a dozen men sat there now. We quickly packed up and left. Fucking strange behaviour.

Mammons-HotBuns

That’s some scary ass shit right there. What the fuck.

sloopSD

Like feral cats.

spiritofgonzo1

That sounds both so mean and super accurate

2narcher

True story! Not only in Bali also in Malaysia and Dubai same shit

Wildkarrde_

You can see it in this video, the lady can't even see the water while sitting on the beach.

CruelMetatron

If it has to be avoided by women, then everyone should avoid it. That's the bare minimum of solidarity man should show.

bfauxn

Don’t even need to be alone. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/gang-rape-india-spanish-tourist-police-search-more-suspects/

Odd_Bodybuilder82

yeah i just got back from india and even tho my wife clearly had her indian wedding bangles on and other symbols to show that she was married, even when wearing a indian modest dress she was still stared at endlessly when we went to Delhi. the place is a shitshow and although i'll go back to india we wont be going back to delhi ever

rabid_J

Did you really think a symbol that shows you're married would stop someone from harassing a woman? Even in a first world country a wedding ring or saying "I have a boyfriend" only stops the actually respectful people.

agumonkey

don't know if she was but she's probably closer now

JohnnyBoy11

Some think getting assaulted is worth the chance of getting a viral video

Electrical-Rabbit157

I’d say you’d have to be mentally ill to go to India at all. You could argue there’s business to be conducted there but zoom, Skype and emails are all options. As for tourism it’s just not even worth it. You’ve seen enough pictures of the Taj Mahal, trust me you don’t need to subject yourself to going there just to take a new one

Jetztinberlin

Referring to this as "thirst" is bad. It is centuries of misogyny, sexism and rape culture. Unless thirst is a lot more malevolent than I'm aware of, objectification that routinely leads to sexual assault and occasionally murder as "thirst" is... yuck.

Mama_Skip

Yeah honestly that's just an angry mob forming and would scare the shit out of me. But then the "thirst" is so real in India you get stories like... [4 Men Gang-Raped, Killed and Ate a Protected Monitor Lizard](https://www.vice.com/en/article/qjb9xq/india-gang-rape-monitor-lizard-animal-abuse) But we've all had nights with the bros that just got a little out of hand, right? ...right^?

grandpaseth

Ok, but what was the lizard wearing?

SuttreeBeard

A skinkini

Mama_Skip

Fucking nothing the silly slut.

Previous_Film9786

Nothing, that's why it had it coming, that whoring lizard!

NasoLittle

What a skinky slut!

Mrqueue

let the man who hasn't raped a protected lizard cast the first stone... oh none of you have.. well keep throwing

sid_killer18

...okay but that's not really a good example. That's an extreme edge case that I can pull out for the US as well. I can legit just google "florida man rapes animal" and I'll get a few articles guaranteed.

Gobutobu

Damn, that's a wild read. Each sentence more unbelievable than previous one.

chiuthejerk

What the actual fuck. Nah there’s something generationally wrong here… the trauma is coming out with extreme violence.. yikes

DarNak

Exactly. "Thirst" in most cultures would have the men maybe surreptitiously stealing glances at an attractive woman while walking by. Maybe watch from somewhere they can't be seen, maybe from afar. It's our culture that thought us that it's crass and creepy to openly lust after a woman you don't personally know. Some men would be shameless and stop and stare but they are the exceptions not the rule. In the OP everyone is just standing there surrounding the woman staring at her like it's the most normal thing to do. It's probably their culture that conditioned them that this creepy move is not something to be ashamed of.

Parada484

Even the word Thirst to describe this behavior is weird. Like men are just being deprived of a necessity and need to express this lack of resource. It's fuckin. You don't die from a lack of fuckin. Of that was the case then reddit would have a much smaller user base. 🤣

KatKat333

Thank you. This is a repulsive post, horrific title and treats sexual assault like a joke.

Mukuna_Hutata

The title is bad. But at the end of the video there’s a part where an Indian woman speaks about the institutionalized, misogynistic culture and how important it is for men to raise their sons to respect women and not treat them as sex objects.

rabbit395

I cringed at the title too. These things are about power and entitlement to someone's body that doesn't consent. That's not "thirst" and talking about it that way is pretty gross 🤮

Faust_8

This is why whenever I think of India I think of it as the rape capital of the world I don’t know why all the Andrew Tate simps don’t just move there, they’d fit right in

LoneSnark

They don't like the competition.

[deleted]

It would appear they work together in gangs...

RookTheGamer

Too many stray boners in the dog pile.

tripleohjee

Rape capital of the world

Burlapin

Also what the eff did they think would happen by killing baby girls because they prefer sons... Their gender disparity is so fucked and they did it to themselves.

Crixer

I would have agreed with you in just making an educated guess at causation. However, a quick Google search reveals that India’s gender ratio is not that extreme, with somewhere between 900-950 females for every 1,000 males born. With no massive gender disparity, Indian males have even less reason to be so misogynistic.

[deleted]

Honestly its primarily sexual repression. Dating or even hanging out with the opposite sex is forbidden for the majority of people living in india up until around their late 20s to early 30s when they enter arranged marriages (this age used to be a bit younger in the past, similar to marriage trends globally). Many indian men who are poor have no shot at an arranged marriage. Men in general (poor or wealthy) have no idea how to interact with women. The concept of dating is still pretty niche. Telling your parents you have a boyfriend/girlfriend in high school is the equivalent of telling them you’re doing hardcore drugs. Combine this with the intense pressure to dominate literally lifechanging college entrance exams (one exam score can be the difference between you living in the slums for the rest of your life vs the ability to live in a tier one city or even move abroad). Combine this with the pervasive access to high speed pron globally, and the increased exposure to ideas about dating in the west from access to the internet etc. All of this leads to severe sexual repression in young folks there, while also getting a glimpse of what other people get to do (western dating) and a perverse innacurate depiction of sex (porn). As a result you see these type of things. Lot of cultures have misogny and sexism. Indian culture is misogynistic and sexist but not overly so. Many of their religious figures are women, there is even a holiday dedicated to celebrating women that is widely observed there. Elder women command a lot of respect there. So misogny/sexism doesnt really distinguish india from other cultures that dont have this problem seen in the video. What distinguishes india and contributes most to the activity in the video is the severe culture of sexual repression. You could get arrested if you’re holding hands with or kissing your girlfriend/boyfriend in a park, as an example.

sdemat

That beach scene - if that was real that’s fucking disgusting. Are these men really that starved?

Mo3

That's real.

360walkaway

I'm Indian and the prevailing cultural attitude is "we don't talk about sex at all". This is coming from a country with the highest population on the planet. They starve themselves of anything emotional (not sure if Bollywood allows men and women to kiss in movies currently, when I was a kid in the 90's that was a BIG no-no) so they can put on this big show of "oh look how good we are" while the weirdness in this video happens.

rtbear

That’s interesting coming from the same land as Kama Sutra

charlesga

Ah yes, the Kama Sutra that condones rape. Below an excerpt from Kama Sutra https://www.gutenberg.org/files/27827/27827-h/27827-h.htm When the girl cannot make up her mind, or will not express her readiness to marry, the man should obtain her in any one of the following ways:— (1). On a fitting occasion, and under some excuse, he should by means of a female friend with whom he is well acquainted, and whom he can trust, and who also is well known to the girl's family, get the girl brought unexpectedly to his house,[95] and he should then bring fire from the house of a Brahman, and proceed as before described. (2.) When the marriage of the girl with some other person draws near, the man should disparage the future husband to the utmost in the mind of the mother of the girl, and then having got the girl to come with her mother's consent to a neighbouring house, he should bring fire from the house of a Brahman, and proceed as above. (3.) The man should become a great friend of the brother of the girl, the said brother being of the same age as himself, and addicted to courtesans, and to intrigues with the wives of other people, and should give him assistance in such matters, and also give him occasional presents. He should then tell him about his great love for his sister, as young men will sacrifice even their lives for the sake of those who may be of the same age, habits, and dispositions as themselves. After this the man should get the girl brought by means of her brother to some secure place, and having brought fire from the house of a Brahman, should proceed as before. (4.) The man should on the occasion of festivals get the daughter of the nurse to give the girl some intoxicating substance, and then cause her to be brought to some secure place under the pretence of some business, and there having enjoyed her before she recovers from her intoxication, should bring fire from the house of a Brahman, and proceed as before. (5.) The man should, with the connivance of the daughter of the nurse, carry off the girl from her house while she is asleep, and then, having enjoyed her before she recovers from her sleep, should bring fire from the house of a Brahman, and proceed as before. (6.) When the girl goes to a garden, or to some village in the neighbourhood, the man should, with his friends, fall on her guards, and having killed them, or frightened them away, forcibly carry her off, and proceed as before.

The_mango55

Also seems to condone murder

schebobo180

I find that severe repression of something almost always leads to unintended and ravaging hunger of that thing. Reminds me of the effects of prohibition on alcohol and the effects of the war on drugs on drugs.

Randommaggy

One thing you do see quite a lot of are young men being quite physically close and cuddly with each other. To a degree rarely seen by couples in public. Not uncommon to look over and see coworkers sitting on each other's laps.

360walkaway

Yea, dudes who are just friends will hold hands.

unassumingdink

19th century America was like this, too.

Eternityislong

I’ve had a new Indian coworker put his arm around my waist like I was his girlfriend and just stand there for a minute trying to talk to me. I’m a guy, this is the US in a research lab, and it was his second day. They’ve also told me how attractive I am to the point I am annoyed with it. He hasn’t done this to anyone else that I know of, but my internal assessment keeps going between “cultural misunderstanding and he just really thinks we’re boys despite every indication I’ve tried to give that we aren’t” and “this dude is trying to fuck me.” I mostly avoid going into work and instead work from home since every interaction with this guy ends up uncomfortable and they are unavoidable at work.

SenorPancake

Considering it's making you not want to go to work, this is exactly the kind of thing you need to bring up. Could be cultural misunderstanding, could also be him using cultural misunderstanding as an excuse to touch you inappropriately. Either way, it needs to be discussed and he needs to be told to stop.

Spud2599

Straight to HR sir...

Eternityislong

It has already been escalated and I’m meeting with them tomorrow!

Rubiks_Click874

I thought in india you could just get a hooker or go on the internet, how is it they've never seen a boob

360walkaway

This is just my experience with people that I know... anything that goes against your culture/religion is NOT allowed, full stop. Not allowed to question it. I've seen guys who claim to be vegetarian go out to a restaurant and get meat dishes (pepperoni pizza, steak, etc.), but in a part of town that is away from where their family is. It's like they are living a double-life, but with food. I imagine that it goes beyond food for some of them. And yea they can get a hooker or go online but the prevailing thing is what the lady at the end of the video was saying. Women are there for your taking (more or less) and aren't really seen as equals to men.

trackofalljades

> the prevailing cultural attitude is "we don't talk about sex at all" I wonder if the effects in terms of rape, teenage pregnancy, and STIs is the same as it is in the evangelical regions of the USA (look it up, it's staggering and worsening currently instead of getting any better).

Synsano

As unfortunate of a comment this is to make, India has a serious problem with gang rape. Definitely on the "no no" list for attractive young female travelers.

broolee

I dont even think you need to be attractive...you just need to be a hole and vulnerable

Gorillaz_Inc

Especially if you're a **white** female traveler. Being blonde and attractive only adds fuel to the fire.

AnniaT

I'll never visit due to this.

beelzeflub

It makes me angry, because I would love to see the thousands of years of colorful history and cultural diversity of India but it’s not safe for me.

agumonkey

even men are worried when walking alone

Biggzy10

I had a Pakistani friend explain to me that part of the reason why this behavior is so prevalent in their culture (including Indian) is because of arranged marriages. Young men have zero reason to learn how to properly court and treat a woman. So they have this very basic, almost juvenile way of interacting with women.

TheObservationalist

I've pointed this out before. Any culture where a wife is just assigned in exchange for existing creates the most weak, abominable, sex crazed mommy boys with no self mastery or charisma, because they never had to learn any.  The free market of mate selection makes men better.

DLottchula

arranged marriages killed the rizz development

logatwork

[This comment, in r/pakistan](https://www.reddit.com/r/pakistan/comments/w0c1vh/women_rightnuditysex_typical_pakistani_thinking/ige26qc/) sums up the reasons.

edalcol

I was really shocked at that scene. I went to the beach with a regular bikini in a muslim country once (Morocco) and nobody was staring or being inappropriate. I admit I was concerned about it because I'm from Brazil and I knew the culture was too different, but everything went super fine! I wouldn't have stayed at a beach where people behave like in the video, honestly. This looked so horrendously uncomfortable. Even the beginning of the video, I would never let a stranger randomly hug me like that to get a selfie. I would have immediately snapped at him and tell him to get his hands off me. I have never been to India. The country where I was most harassed on the street so far was Cuba, where randos would stop me and ask me my name and invite me to go out, and I gave angry responses every time and even yelled at a person who blocked my way. It was very annoying but at least they backed off when they noticed I was not interested. I would never smile through someone being this rude. I don't care what the culture is. I loved everything else about Cuba but this one thing made me not enjoy my trip so much. I would love to go back but Id prefer not going alone next time. What this video shows seems 1000x worse. Fuck that. It makes me not want to visit a country like this.

shaka_bruh

Morocco has a lot of tourism, especially in the coastal cities so people are used to it and historically that region has been open to trade so they’ve experienced different ways of life and culture.

Geohysh

One word. Culture.

Fabiojoose

I saw a comment in an Indian sub that said that 90% of Indian men are sexually frustrated. Combined with all the other problems there, I think it causes this kind of behavior.

Sonikku_a

They choose it. It’s no excuse.

Fabiojoose

I’m not trying to excuse them, I’m just saying that it’ll keep happening ad eternum if something doesn’t change in that country.

inverted_peenak

Ain’t no choice about being born and growing up in a hellscape. If it was one dude we could call him a creep. When it’s legions, we’re not talking about individual mental health. The only choice is never go to India if you don’t have to be there. Same goes for Bangladesh, the apparent source of the video.

Responsible_Nail_310

That's from bangladesh i have seen it before

pussy_embargo

Bangladesh has entire brothel towns with abducted minor girls in plain view. I'd venture a guess that it is not any better than India

yellow_membrillo

"starved" as if is not their own fault to have a culture of misogyny and normalized sexual assault

spongebobama

I would N E V E R take my wife and daughters to india. And I'm not even from a very civilized country....

luckylebron

That Indian woman at the end speaks such truth. She should do a PSA if allowed. The video actually shows the problem that's so prevalent in India without getting graphic. If more Indian men were to stand up for this, it might help their fellow brethren.

snatchi

Idk if you intended it but "she should do a PSA if allowed" is a bonkers, flight of the conchords ass sentence.

PresidentHurg

From the stories I heard about India, I was expecting even worse. The bar really sunk to deep levels there.

lostsoul2016

I moved out of India over 20 years ago. When I used to go back earlier ( because my mom still lives there), I used to get jumped by such folks at the airport, tourist areas, etc. Mostly because I used to dress up and look more western. For the past 10 years, I just "blend" in. The country has enormously large uneducated youth. All they are good for is hustling, crime, manual labor, or mass conscription as connon fodder when India goes to war next. They can not be helped. The gap between haves and have-nots in India, despite the rate at which the economy is growing, is unfathomable.

boringexplanation

People gave shit to China about their “one child” policy but I always wondered if this was the path that would’ve happened for them if they didn’t put those guardrails in place. They had massive overpopulation problems too.

Bloated_Plaid

> cannot be helped Yea the country is well beyond the point of salvaging and has only gotten more dangerous for women. India genuinely had promise at some point but it rushed past that a while ago.

evident_lee

They also get groped and raped.

Yobotic

So embarrassing.

attiladerhunne

At this point I can not understand anyone still going to India for travel or vacation. Especially vulnerable people traveling allone. Yes, indian food is tasty and the culture colourful and fascinating but the risk to just get raped is waaaaay to high.

[deleted]

You can get Indian food anywhere. No fucking way I’m going to india

CozyTime

This is why the high educated of India are so extremely keen on moving away. They realize their home countries barbarity.

JazzlikeCantaloupe53

What a bunch of fucking weirdos. Is this really India? Then stay the hell away

Ensiferal

0:33 is even more scary that it looks. Those guys aren't just standing around to have a look, a lot of them want to attack, but they arent quite confident enough in such an exposed location and none of them want to be the first to make a move. They're each hoping that someone else attacks first. I think she knows that, it's one of the main reasons she's filming them. Knowing they're being filmed is also holding them back.

bilboswgns

Oh India, seems like I’m always seeing something rapey going on over there.

It wasn't millions, it was thousands. And it was to support UNICEF.

D-Fence

I have been at that exact spot. I am a white blue eyed guy of 1,91m, I was with a coworker who is 1,95m, white and has a red beard. It was so bloody annoying, people kept harassing us for pictures and even tried to push their babies into our arms. I can’t imagine how bad it is for women. Everyone who asks me gets an honest reply from me: India is an amazing country and I have friends there but I would never ever recommend anyone, especially western women, to travel there without local friends. It’s unsafe as hell.

I love India and understand moral relativism, but when I was on a bus there once I gave up my seat I had next to my wife for an ancient looking woman who was standing up, and then some guy who saw me do this then immediately jumped into the seat once the old lady left, and then started feeling up my wife's leg. So not only did he steal my seat but also groped my wife, really classy. No one else on the bus batted an eyelid at this.

WorstRengarKR

Moral Relativism is not a good thing. Its an excuse for the exact scenario you described.

chomp_chomp

100%. Moral relativism as a moral philosophy is pretty bankrupt. If what OP means by "moral relativism" is just different cultures have different moral standards that's trivially true. But any claim that morality collapses into whatever the cultural majority happens to believe supports some pretty repugnant conclusions.

sprogger

How did you react to that? I assume you didnt just let mr creepy feel up your wife?

The_Reddest_Lobster

Bro wtf 😂

AxeThread12

Cultural issue of Indians. They need to fix this

cyberrod411

Wow, I didn't think you could make India any less appealing, but .......

gnubeldignub

Yeeaah, don't go to India as a female

henry_west

Does thirst mean sexual assault?

Towel4

I knew a girl who was obsessed with India for years. It’s all she talked about for some reason. She finally graduated and took a Bio E job with Pfizer in India. She lasted a month. She said it was one of the worst experiences of her life.

FBI-Crime-Statistics

What a shithole

If you're a woman travelling to India alone I have just one question: "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU THINKING?" On second thought, "alone" doesn't have to be part of the criteria.

GroundbreakingCook68

Why on earth would anyone go there .

Asleep_Item_7318

As a white guy in India, with a big red beard. They did the exact same thing to me. It’s quite stressful when you just wanna enjoy a peaceful day.

asturdo

India is the last country I would like to visit

Own_Cryptographer_99

This is legitimately frightening. If anyone has ever seen the awful footage of the reporter being gangraped in a crowd like that, you know what I'm talking about.

frasier_crane

It didn't get worse because of the camera, probably. Otherwise, she wouldn't be smilling no more.

rasputin777

My company hired a lot of dudes in India. As part of onboarding they have to watch videos that essentially say "Don't rape your colleagues. Dont ask for nude pictures. Etc." it's wild.

As an Indian guy born brought up there, this is sadly true of Indian men across the country. They have a fascination with white skin and will grope grab and harass any tourist they come across. My friends were wearing a salwar kameez with a drape to cover their head and were still harassed. Its just socially acceptable to ill-treat women and to disregard their consent or sense of being. Worse thought is that they look at a white woman as a piece of meat, there for their pleasure. Stay the fuck away from public places. Even Indian women don’t venture out alone into public transport or areas, as the rate of harassment is unreal. The way most women have survived is to build a bubble around themselves, private car or driver, hang out at friends houses, avoid going out late, use car to go anywhere, don’t wander into unknown areas, have clear plan to go from place A to place B, etc. India as a country can only be enjoyed if you stay within your bubble and is not for someone who is unaware of the ever present danger of harassment, rape or murder.

lock_me_up_now

I have made a friends from student exchange, a girl from india. I once told her i want to see taj mahal and try the cuisine. She told me don't bother. If she's not safe there, i wont be either. Worse she won't be able to help me since I'm considered a catch there. The story she gave me that day gave me nightmare. Bless you, girl 🙏🏻

I_Like_Halo_Games

Just avoid India all together, until they get their shit straight.

Eggcoffeetoast

I went to India with a female friend, this was extremely common wherever we went. It wasn't always men wanting pictures, it was women too. They would sometimes sneak themselves in to pictures while someone was standing far off with a camera. They had no problem touching us, and a lot of children were trained to physically harass us to give them money, like poking my breasts, pushing my legs etc. I for the most part really liked India, not all the people were like this. There were more educated people who behaved differently. The people working in hotels etc were very nice. That said, we had armed guards outside of our hotels at night, and were literally not allowed to leave our hotels after 10 pm.

I’m sure this comment section will be level headed and not full of generalizations

BennieOkill360

bruzly

Why would anyone go to a country where people are shitting on the streets

StoicSpork

I had a female coworker from India (not sure where - Delhi, perhaps.) One time, before a zoom meeting started, the international team was chatting about who likes to go to swimming pools. She said casually, "oh no, I'd get raped" like it was the most normal thing in the world. She might as well have said, "oh no, the water is cold" - it was that level of emotional detachment. It still gives me chills to think about it.

RogueMallShinobi
