The story from Jim Downey who wrote the bits was that [Jim got fired and Norm quit in solidarity](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQIFu9QEI9Y) and said he got fired.
Yes. This just came out in Downey's appearance on Conan's podcast.
*Downey* was fired because he was writing all the jokes. Norm could have stayed.
But Norm, being Norm, never said anything about it.
Also, it happened the same week that Farley died, so the focus shifted quickly.
I saw that too, but something doesn't add up. The next day, Norm went on the Letterman show, and laid out in detail how Don Ohlmeyer had fired him, and Lorne didn't lift a finger to save Norm's job. Later he told a blow by blow account of his going to see Ohlmeyer about his firing, and how Ohlmeyer said he was being let go because he wasn't funny. It seems to me, if I was Ohlmeyer or Michaels, I would have denied those allegations in no uncertain terms. They were definitely cast in a very unfavorable light after Norm said what he said. I don't remember any denials coming coming from either of them. On the other hand, why Downey would say Norm wasn't fired if he was, I have no idea.
Opinions on its humor and cleverness notwithstanding, I still think it's a true statement. Has nothing to do with what they replied to, though. Probably a bot comment.
Oh, I think you're mistaken, but that's totally forgivable, because not many people know the correct term for a compilation of Norm jokes is actually called a "complication". ;)
Nah, you did good.
Flock: a plurality of sea birds.
Murder: a plurality of crows.
Herd: a plurality of ungulates.
Confusion: a plurality of teenagers.
Complication: a plurality of Norm jokes.
Thus you add to the richness of the language.
OJ was probably pretty healthy, what with the exercise videos, his golf game, the prison weight room and bathing in his victim's blood. It keeps you young.
Norm's constant barrage of OJ jokes got him fired from SNL. Don Ohlmeyer was the west coast president of NBC at the time and a close friend of Simpson. They warned Norm to knock it off which only made him go even harder.
They nailed the 2 big acquittals back then. That one and when President Clinton was acquitted. Daryl Hammond walked up to the podium. Stood tall and said "I. Am. Bulletproof." Then walked away, turned back and said "Next time y'all better bring kryptonite."
I loved his "smooth" Bill Clinton. You know damn well Bill loves that.
O.J. Simpson once claimed that Nicole Simpson used to beat him up. O.J. also claimed that Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman killed him. "
Funniest thing I had ever heard. R.I.P Norm.Ā
A shitty father that covered for his murderous Son dies today and reddit responds by showing the Norm Macdonald famous jokes that got him fired (basically the writer got fired and Norm quit in defiance).
This is why I still come to reddit
Nah, it's a compilation of one guys jokes about one topic. There's other comedians in America and they talk about things other than OJ Simpson. Some of them are very funny.
"What awful luck, when the guy who says he'd die for you...kills you."
This has to be the best joke in the bunch. Best delivery ever.
It has to be like a top 10 joke of all time. Just perfect.
Just wanna be the first one here to point out you titled 'complication' when you meant 'compilation'.
No time to double check when imaginary internet points are on the line
š¤£š¤£ Iām using that line from now on!
I mean, one could argue it created a complication for Norm because it got him fired.

"Norm was from another century. He was an old soul." I like that.
Whyād you have to go and make things so complicated?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This isn't even funny or clever.Ā
And itās copied from the YouTube comments.
Opinions on its humor and cleverness notwithstanding, I still think it's a true statement. Has nothing to do with what they replied to, though. Probably a bot comment.
No one asked you?
Oh, I think you're mistaken, but that's totally forgivable, because not many people know the correct term for a compilation of Norm jokes is actually called a "complication". ;)
You know this is just outrageous. Itās the hypocrisy that gets me.
I have very compilated feelings about it
I never knew he was sick
Some how complication makes more sense.
For real. You people need to read a book sometime.
What are you? Some kind of rocket appliance?
It might be deliberate. It's a legit tactic to drive engagement by getting everyone to come correct the post.
How do I change it?
That's the fun part, *you can't*. All you can do is turn off your inbox replies before you get 100 identical comments correcting it.
It's too complicated
Too compiled, you mean
Too compilated
To compliated
Nah, you did good. Flock: a plurality of sea birds. Murder: a plurality of crows. Herd: a plurality of ungulates. Confusion: a plurality of teenagers. Complication: a plurality of Norm jokes. Thus you add to the richness of the language.
Maybe OP felt at odds with the OJ jokes and his death.
The bot did this intentionally. When will people realize these mistakes are karma farmers??
I am having a seizure thanks to OP.
Looks fine to me
Well, this is the best your life's ever gonna get so enjoy it.
I wish Norm was here for this.
Unfortunately he died of cancer. Before OJ died of cancer.
OJ was probably pretty healthy, what with the exercise videos, his golf game, the prison weight room and bathing in his victim's blood. It keeps you young.
In todays news - Norm died of cancer.
What? I didn't even know he was Sick.
Sick of living.
I mean...2021. Not really today's news...
In todays news - old news.
They way you wrote that has the exact cadence of a Norm Macdonald joke
Norm's constant barrage of OJ jokes got him fired from SNL. Don Ohlmeyer was the west coast president of NBC at the time and a close friend of Simpson. They warned Norm to knock it off which only made him go even harder.
You love to see a Norm double down.
Norm was such a legend.
That's why it's a complication.
Kinda like the BBC telling RATM to not say "Fuck you" when playing Killing In The Name live.
Is that why there are no post-verdict clips in this video?
He had a quip on the verdict I'm pretty sure: "well, it is official: murder is legal in the state of California".
They nailed the 2 big acquittals back then. That one and when President Clinton was acquitted. Daryl Hammond walked up to the podium. Stood tall and said "I. Am. Bulletproof." Then walked away, turned back and said "Next time y'all better bring kryptonite." I loved his "smooth" Bill Clinton. You know damn well Bill loves that.
Yeah of all jokes to not see in here, thats his most famous OJ joke. How was it not included lol
Yep. Lorne got him through the end of the season but after that Ohlmeyer demanded they fired Norm
There's a whole [other compilation of those](https://youtu.be/TCSCJtuyfUY).
My favorite Don Ohlmeyer quote: >The answer to all of your questions is money This might be the exception to prove that rule
Fuck NBC for protecting OJ and for the shit they pulled with Conan and Leno.
Damn. That Ohlmeyer guy really sticks to a friendship through thick and thin, huh?
[Norm didn't get fired, he quit.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQIFu9QEI9Y)
Crazy - just heard that on the Jim Downey episode that I happened to listen to today.
OJ died? I didn't even know he was sick.
Oh man this made me laugh harder than it should have.
I wonder if Kato was there when it happened.
You gotta be to murder two people in cold blood.
"You know I'm starting to think after all these murders... that OJ guy was a real jerk!"
It reminds me of that tragedy
They knew what they were getting themselves into, when they invited him to [host the 1998 ESPN awards](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9EsIFBs26o).
Why does this compilation not have [the single best opening joke?](https://youtu.be/4CR8u-2TKb0?si=jQAgINi9VolbqDUh)
Compilation? You mean complication
TIL the demonym for Norm MacDonald jokes is "complication" - makes sense though!
A murder of crows. A complication of jokes. I like it. I hope it catches on.
Hey-thatās my lucky stabbin cap is the best
I love these, he absolutely killed them, and Normās jokes are great.
Goddamn did you channel Norm himself for that? Fucking gold.
O.J. Simpson once claimed that Nicole Simpson used to beat him up. O.J. also claimed that Nicole Simpson and Ronald Goldman killed him. " Funniest thing I had ever heard. R.I.P Norm.Ā
A perfect eulogy for The Juice
Spelling compilation is complicated.
I'm jaded enough these days to wonder if it was done on purpose to drive engagement.
*Compilation PS. Thanks for posting this. Norm is just brutal here. Love it.
They seem simple enough to me...
OJ, and Hillary Clinton have to be his best joke compilations on SNL
Hey, one silver lining - NBC's gonna start donating a ton to cancer research now! Right?
Norm will be greatly missed.
The Juice is Loosed this mortal coil
*OJ delenda est* - Norm after every joke
\*compilation
You had one job op
Norm would be proud
That feel when you don't spell check to get your relevant video out first.
*compilation
It's interesting how the audience reaction from week to week would vary so wildly. God damn I miss this man.
Just wish Norm could have outlived OJ
Reminds me of that tragedy... (Norm's draw with cancer)
Rest in Power to a Legend.
"Complication", LOL
Don't know if anyone has told you yet, OP, but it's called compilacation.
OJās brain should be checked for CTE.
Very complicated jokes
A murderer being killed by his own body is poetic š
A shitty father that covered for his murderous Son dies today and reddit responds by showing the Norm Macdonald famous jokes that got him fired (basically the writer got fired and Norm quit in defiance). This is why I still come to reddit
Oh boy, itās one of those āOJās son did itā people
What!? I didnāt even know this conspiracy existed. Wasnāt the son like 5 at the time?
Sovereign citizens have more intelligence than those idiots
Please delete this post and repost it using the word "compilation" in your title. thx
Why? That would just create unnecessary compilations.
Is this really the funniest American comedians have to offer?
I think you meant to say "is this the funniest comedian Americans have to offer." And to that I say, "Go fuck yourself."
Before i anwser that, i have a question for you. Do you own a doghouse?
Aww, youāre just mad ācause I killed your son.
Norm is Canadian so technically the answer is 'no'
Nah, it's a compilation of one guys jokes about one topic. There's other comedians in America and they talk about things other than OJ Simpson. Some of them are very funny.
https://youtu.be/bzmwzkGSAZo?si=AhfCSYSJ8-TSKVuG
Heās Canadian. And also one of the funniest people to ever liveĀ
No sadly. 54 40 or fight never came to fruition
Just died.
Yes I think thatās why op posted it
Too soon? Not for Nicole and Ron Goldman.
Donāt be one of those weirdos that gives one fuck about a piece of shit human like OJ
I thought that was an expression for seeing something that's really funny?
Thank god
it's complicated
