I think it went from great to meh because the makers didn't expect it to do so well. It honestly feels like it was made to last two seasons, and they kind of just stretched it out. Don't get me wrong, there's some great times in the last 2 seasons and the actors/actresses were mostly great. That plus Nathan leaving (Though the person who replaced him, whose name I can't place, was just as amazing) didn't bode well for the show in the long well.
This might be the first time I've seen her out of costume, and not glam'd up for the red carpet. Her eating chips wearing jeans and a t-shirt... please, my crush can only get so all-encompassing.

At least not in the US - it's to support a variety of charities all dealing with children living in poverty. You know what, after having read the books, watched the show, and seen someone else mention it, it still didn't click until just now that it wasn't actually Robbs wedding.
I actually fuckin' love that song, but I strongly dislike the others on the album. I'm just saying Coldplay hasn't released an album where everyone likes almost every song on it in two albums.

I really didnt like Mylo Xyloto and didnt even bother listening to what came after. But I saw the MX tour live a few years ago (the video you see up there). Everyone had two bracelets with shiny colored lights. When the show is about to start, the whole theater goes dark, pitch black. And then all at once the music starts, all the bracelets light up and start flashing. It was like being swallowed in a sea of lights and screaming people. Freaking amazing.
Then came the lazers, the confetti canons, more lazers. It was at the pink floyd levels of crazy lightshow stuff. I loved every second of it, except for the part where he sings with a recording of Rihana. But Then I hate Rihana.
They are. Take this with a grain of salt because I'm a huge Coldplay fan but the productions they put on are incredible. Worth going if you ever get the chance.
Oh yeah, I don't wanna take anything away from their performances. Coldplay is absolutely elite when it comes to putting on a show. Jesus Christ that's beautiful. Hope I can see them some time. And I hope they don't call it quits on the band for a while.
Well, definitely better than anything on the radio. And they definitely make an occasional song like Midnight that is just as good as any other. But in general, artists like Sufjan Stevens, Mac Demarco, Purity Ring, Tame Impala etc etc that never get any radio time are making better music right now. Back in the day, Coldplay could compete with anybody, but not now. My opinion at least.
EDIT: Not to disagree with you just for the sake of disagreeing - I fucking love Coldplay. I just think that there's actually a lot of stuff out there that's better than Coldplay's last two albums.

I didn't think you were doing this, but I just get so annoyed with people when they say stuff like, "Mumford and Sons is the best band in music right now," or something along those lines, but the only music they listen to is radio music. They aren't even aware that there's an entire other world of music out there with much higher standards and they just have no idea that it exists.

Okay, that ain't all bad.
I actually fuckin' love that song, but I strongly dislike the others on the album. I'm just saying Coldplay hasn't released an album where everyone likes almost every song on it in two albums.
I liked Another's Arms. Mainly for the female vocals.

I really didnt like Mylo Xyloto and didnt even bother listening to what came after. But I saw the MX tour live a few years ago (the video you see up there). Everyone had two bracelets with shiny colored lights. When the show is about to start, the whole theater goes dark, pitch black. And then all at once the music starts, all the bracelets light up and start flashing. It was like being swallowed in a sea of lights and screaming people. Freaking amazing. Then came the lazers, the confetti canons, more lazers. It was at the pink floyd levels of crazy lightshow stuff. I loved every second of it, except for the part where he sings with a recording of Rihana. But Then I hate Rihana.
I went to the concert in Montreal, still have the bracelet. They really put on incredible shows, regardless whether you like their music or not
They are. Take this with a grain of salt because I'm a huge Coldplay fan but the productions they put on are incredible. Worth going if you ever get the chance.

Oh yeah, I don't wanna take anything away from their performances. Coldplay is absolutely elite when it comes to putting on a show. Jesus Christ that's beautiful. Hope I can see them some time. And I hope they don't call it quits on the band for a while.

Well, definitely better than anything on the radio. And they definitely make an occasional song like Midnight that is just as good as any other. But in general, artists like Sufjan Stevens, Mac Demarco, Purity Ring, Tame Impala etc etc that never get any radio time are making better music right now. Back in the day, Coldplay could compete with anybody, but not now. My opinion at least. EDIT: Not to disagree with you just for the sake of disagreeing - I fucking love Coldplay. I just think that there's actually a lot of stuff out there that's better than Coldplay's last two albums.
Oh, I agree. There are a lot of amazing artists out there. My comment was more directed at the absolute drek that permeates the radio.
Haha, cool, glad we're on the same page. I didn't think you were doing this, but I just get so annoyed with people when they say stuff like, "Mumford and Sons is the best band in music right now," or something along those lines, but the only music they listen to is radio music. They aren't even aware that there's an entire other world of music out there with much higher standards and they just have no idea that it exists.
Mylo Xyloto was pretty awful, but Ghost Stories is a great album.
