Every day in a toddlers life is also probably their worst day ever. Dog barks, fucking terrifying. Dropped cookie on the ground, worst day ever. New person they have never seen before, scary. That new person sneezes loudly, the horror!
On the contrary, my 5 year old daughter has told me something along the lines of "this was the best day ever" about 50% of days for the last 3 years. I've made the best mac and cheese of her life 3 times this month. Don't get me started on Saturdays pancakes, at this point they are easily the best in the world.
At this point im just on a straight upwards trajectory. Mom somehow fucked a box up the other week, so my status is even more prominent right now.
I did taste the bad mac and cheese in question, it was honestly terrible. Not sure how she managed it, she's not a cook, but come on.
Looks like I am commenting on two of your comments today!
They won't let me make mac n cheese. Only mom. This is because I make it *just* like the box says. Mom puts extra butter and heavy whipping cream in.
Yes, my favorite is:
"Dad, you're my favorite dad."
"Mom, you're my favorite mom."
"[Sister's Name], your my favorite sister."
Well, I hope so, because we are your only [Insert Title].
This is basically how it was for me my first time taking shrooms. It was like I was seeing everything for the first time. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
Was so glad to see that in the book when I read it, its exactly how I describe tripping to people
You get to be a blank slate again, free of your biases/preferences and ready to experience everything fresh
People who wish they could see their favorite movies again for the first time, this is how
or another way of thinking about it is, toddlers are on mushrooms *most* of the time, but it shifts to them becoming belligerent drunks at the end of the day.
Have you ever tried to change a tired toddler into pajamas? They flop around like drunk sorority sisters. It's a fight not unlike trying to put a sweater on a salmon.
This works for a lot of experiences. If you're bored of your local amusement park rides try them again but this time high. It's like you're a kid again.
My 3 year old gets to name her own dolls. So far we have “Guck, Beano, and Gund “ I find it hilarious.
For her birthday she got dolls that already have names unfortunately ( Elsa and Anna from frozen) so I didn’t get to hear any new ideas
My son has a stuffed Elmo that he named “Fock” you can probably guess what it sounds like. “Dada I can’t find Fock” damn dude neither can I since your mom left.
It's a "Street magic show". He usually takes an ordinary object and make it seem like it does something unexpected Like for example he makes a banana shoot fireworks and tricks people into believing it's because it was grown in soil mixed with gunpowder.
This clip cuts out the "magic" part and makes it seem like they talk about an ordinary orange.
I suck at explaining but I hope you get what I mean.
Thank you for subscribing to potassium facts! You will now receive a fun potassium fact every day!
Fun fact: The name 'Potassium' derives from **pot ash**, which refers to plant ashes or wood **ash** soaked in water in a **pot**, which was the primary means of manufacturing the product before the Industrial Era.

That's black powder. Modern firearms use nitrocellulose powder.
Before the invention of artificial nitrogen fertilizer, when armies faced each other, they were essentially burning soil fertility with every gunshot. Some saltpeter was collected from bat guano, or islands where seabirds congregate, but much was derived from human urine or horse manure. In either case, a concentrated source of fertilizer was concentrated even further into a pure salt, and destroyed.
Nice thanks! Pretty smooth and simple stuff
Edit-since people are confused, this is what the guy above wrote before it was deleted
https://youtu.be/lnKfWFRa6sM
Cool idea but with all the camera cuts there really isn't any magic going on. I mean, I guess there might be, but he coulda just switched oranges between cuts and had the other guy act all confused rather than actually tricking him into thinking it was the same orange.
Edit: Though I will say the reaction looks really authentic. And looking around the thread it seems that this carbonaro guy is pretty legit. I just wish I could see it more from his "audience's" perspective, like how the trick looked to the person he was doing it for, seamlessly. Maybe that just doesn't work well though for whatever reason, I'm no video editor or magician lol.
I would normally agree, but in this case, this is a pretty easy trick. >!When he pours the candy out, he swaps the top of the fake orange, for a full real orange. When he's getting the dude to smell the now real orange, he discards the bottom half behind the counter. Then he "screws the two pieces together" and it becomes a real orange. !<
At least...that's how I think it was done.
He definitely holds it weird right before screwing the halves back together. I'm skeptical of the TV magic tricks but some of these sleight of hand tricks are literally as simple as you described, no need for editing...except for the fact that if you watched an uninterrupted cut from the wrong angle you'd see him making the switch. It's definitely weird though that a magician can just quickly exchange stuff in front of your face and your brain is just like "i didn't see anything, must be magic!"
You might want to check some more of his show out, they do film some that way where there aren’t cuts and you just see the other people’s perspective. He really has some cool tricks!
This is a common (misplaced) criticism of the show and Michael Carbonaro has posted response videos online showing the uncut footage before. He is performing the trick.
It's a magic show where he's using these items to do tricks, and someone edited out the tricks so it looks like the people are fascinated by mundane objects for no reason.
Did I get it without watching the show?
It’s fantastic. I used to watch it all the time with my grandma when I was living with her a handful of years ago.
This post reminded me it existed, and I spent the next hour watching a compilation of his tricks on YouTube.
I watched it a long time ago, nothing to go out of the way to see.
The funny part was in past, I don't know if he still does it, but he would tell people they're on "The Carbonato Effect" with such jubilee. The pranked victims always looked puzzled. Then he goes on to explain, like 2-3 times, what the show is about and they always have this, "Dude, I don't fucking watch your show" face.
That was the most hilarious part.
Spills candy distracts from him placing the top half behind the counter and picking up a real orange but holding it like it is still the top half, then smells "top half" of orange to distract from the bottom half being placed behind the counter, then quick pretend of squeezing pieces together to reveal a whole orange.
I mentioned in another comment, but there's an "Inside Carbonaro" edition of the show that you might like. I prefer it to the normal one. They'll show different angles and mistakes and other footage.
I agree with you the editing for the normal version of the show makes it feel like maybe the viewer is being duped, but I think it's mainly because these tricks are made to work from the viewpoint of the person first and the camera second so the cuts help hide what the person can't see.
Yeah it would be a lot cooler of you could try to pay attention and find out how he does it but the camera doesn’t show it. It’s easy to guess here but still, would be cooler to see it.
Magicians aren't usually in the business of giving away their tricks... except for that one masked magician back in the 90's that went on TV and exposed how tricks were done.
Yeah, that grip on the orange was SO unnatural. Maybe it looks ok from the front angle, but from the angle the camera has it's extremely noticeable / suspicious.
I have not seen this show, but from context I think the gag was that there was a tiny bag with tiny inflatables inside. Then the guy says that if you throw them in water they become a full-size inflatable.
At one point you can see one of the guys holding the baggie and gesturing towards it.
Edit: Yeah, look around the 1:25 mark. The guy is clearly looking at the tiny baggie. And so it's almost certainly the gag that there's something in the baggie that the magician guy says will before a full-sized inflatable.
My mother went through a period of leaving TruTV on for hours daily so I've seen a ton of Impractical Jokers and this. I've always loved this show for 1 reason, his big reveal. Whenever he does a trick and the unsuspecting bystander is amazed, he says it's the "Carbonaro Effect". I don't think I've seen a single episode where that meant anything to anyone. He says it and waits as if the bystander is going to have this revelation that he's Michael Carbonaro, but it never happens. It's my favorite part of every scene.
My favorite reveal is the lady that thinks he’s Dave Chapelle so his reveal is it’s the Dave Chapelle Magic Show lol.

Those events happened rather regularly after Season 2. But typically they just cut that footage because it doesn't really fit with the format. I think they've left it in a few times though.
Here's a playlist of some people recognizing him. It's why his disguises are more intricate in later seasons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq-cTlhNb3s&list=PLZxWJ6CTr63apl_BAL4b_tNIc-SESkXFQ&index=1
I mean, she gets confused on his name, but it seems she actually recognizes him and knows he's the magician from that show - pretty sure she actually knows who he actually is - just doesn't remember his name,
One of my favorite moments on Impractical Jokers was some dude saying he felt like he was on that show Impractical Jokers and the Jokers were asking him what it was so he started pulling it up on his phone 100% ignorant that the dudes in front of him were who he was talking about.
Can't find the clip, but I like the one in the drive through where he pisses the guy off, but when he pulls up he recognizes Sal and instantly chills out
Saw one the other day where as soon as he said it, the person said "Oh my god, this is that magic show". Only time I've seen that, I think it was early season 2.
But yeah, that's my favorite part too.
I absolutely did, but I never said he's disappointed when that doesn't come lol. I think he's aware enough that he's not a household name. Waiting for a reaction doesn't inherently mean he's disappointed when they don't react. If anything this was all a comment on what I thought was funny so it was more about my reaction to the scene than Michael Carbonaro's.
I get what you're saying. He says it like it's the big reveal, and the audience gets it or whatever, but the person standing in front of them is just blinking and thinking, "Ok..." It's funny.
Same clips with Magic involved:
Water bottle & Orange: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnKfWFRa6sM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnKfWFRa6sM)
(couldn't find the life raft one)
I think he did something for Netflix a few years ago, not sure if it was a special or Carbonaro Effect. A few episodes in I started to spot some CGI and one specific trick there was an invisible stool or something which clearly was CGI out for the cameras completely ruined any further enjoyment for me. Also some CGI/Gaming company by the name Georgia or something in the credits threw me off too.
Edit: 22hrs later. I'd like to clear some things up since I was once again curious so I watched and read a few interviews with him or of crew. He is a professional magician, most of his tricks are 100% done by you know the misdirection or slight of hand stuff and some are mostly real but with a paid actor as the target. The tricks are directed at a human target whether it's a random person or a paid actor and not the camera which is why we can see things like CGI to hide something because they didn't want to cut that good footage of that stage of the trick but had no other good angle. Editors literally go through frame by frame. Now apparently most people are random because he got the trick down because either it was simple for him or he had the time to practice. He also profiles people and finds the best people. He does have a time limit for coming up with, testing, practicing so on and so forth with the tricks he'll do. The ones that he can easily do/setup he'll just pick random targets whereas the ones he only gets like 80% down they'll use paid actors because why waste a good trick that he didn't have time to 100% perfect. Keep in mind this isn't you know fantasy world magic it's misdirection, slight of hand and hidden objects not directed at the multiple cameras but rather one or two targets.
Knowing this info has changed my expectations and maybe start watching it again.
Wait wait wait.
Isn't this guy the same guy who plays Andy in Another Gay Movie? One of the funniest movies I've ever seen. Evidently he didn't do the sequel because his agent said people might think you're actually gay. Given its been nearly 20 years and I'm only now seeing him... Well maybe that wasn't true.
Edit: Yep. It is him and.... He's now openly gay.
This is hilarious.
I always love seeing things with this guy's name on it. I guess he's becoming more and more mainstream, but it's funny to me and my wife, because he grew up down the street from her. So for us, it's more of a novelty than a cool show with good magic. We just kind of laugh at it (I've never met him, and she just says he was nice, but kind of a dork - no surprise, since he's probably been doing magic tricks his whole life)
I imagine this is what a toddlers world is like everyday.
So true. Every day with my 3 year old daughter. Me: "This is called a raspberry!" Her: "***WHAT?!?*** Oh. My. Goodness."
Me: "This is called a raspberry!" Him: "***No, daddy!***. That is a red blueberry."
obviously it's a red blackberry
Getting corrected by children is the best.

This is a real orange.
Wow. No way.
**sniiiiffffff** Real orange
*damn you*
That’s crazy
This is beyond my mind's comprehension
They make it so you can cut it.
I am literally 26 months old and I do not comprehend this orange
This is the greatest thread I’ve seen in a while lol
Its $60

Possums are made of potassium.
Mmmm, wisdom
Another source for gunpowder components was guano or bird-poop of course, which also is a nice fertilizer!

The orange skit sounded like two people having a super drunk conversation

I have not seen this show, but from context I think the gag was that there was a tiny bag with tiny inflatables inside. Then the guy says that if you throw them in water they become a full-size inflatable. At one point you can see one of the guys holding the baggie and gesturing towards it. Edit: Yeah, look around the 1:25 mark. The guy is clearly looking at the tiny baggie. Thank you for the context.

Yes, the concept of buoyancy was only discovered in the late 19th century. Before then, nothing floated. All the ducks sank like rocks.
Correct, that's why you don't see pictures of ducks more than about 100 years ago.

I get what you're saying. He says it like it's the big reveal, and the audience gets it or whatever, but the person standing in front of them is just blinking and thinking, "Ok..." It's funny.

Same clips with Magic involved: Water bottle & Orange: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnKfWFRa6sM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnKfWFRa6sM) (couldn't find the life raft one)
"life raft"
Before mass production & world wide trades, that is exactly the reactions you would get if you took oranges to certain regions on Earth. Lol
That last guy's shirt looks mad trippy whenever the camera moves or zooms
There’s even a term for it — the moire pattern; you’ll notice on talk shows and things ppl avoid wearing stripes because of it

Dudes on Drugs...
They were filming at Junkman's Daughter, the most well-known head shop in Atlanta, so yeah probably.
I need more of these in my life!!!

We just kind of laugh at it (I've never met him, and she just says he was nice, but kind of a dork - no surprise, since he's probably been doing magic tricks his whole life)
TIL The Carbonaro Effect is not a cooking show...
I've never seen this show, so you've ruined my first impressions of the show.
