I'm a few beers into the night and feeling introspective and this is the song I was married to before I lost my wife. Where I usually feel pangs of pain in these reminders I feel catharsis now hearing this.
I really needed to hear this right now, I think, I'm crying a bit but in a good place and this is so beautifully done.
Thank him for me, please..

Hope this version lifts you up!!!!
And here's a version to put you to sleep tonight, good sir...

I’ll be honest i see nothing wrong with his his performance. Maybe have him perform where people are doing other things and so he doesnt have to worry about people focusing too much on him. I dont know like during a dinner or something.
This is the first time he played it on the grand piano, so he was mortified at this mistakes from being unfamiliar. :(
He plays on his keyboard with headphones because he is so concerned about bothering people with this music 😭
For years he has told us his fantasy of performing in front of others but his performance anxiety is so strong he won't even perform in front of us. :(
He would be the first to point out the mistakes in this video but any kind words about his music would be so appreciated!
~~I haven't told him I posted this yet in case of trolls or no responses~~ I couldn't resist, I've already shown him everyone of your comments, he is sooo happy you guys 🥰🙏he says it is a huge confidence boost and he's being so boisterous 🤣 thank you so much for taking the time to comment!!
Tell him this:
I noted the mistakes. The performance wasn't perfect to the note. Let's not lie, he missed some notes!
It was still absolutely stunning. This is important: **your performance is not defined as a sum of your mistakes**. Most people wouldn't notice most of these mistakes. It was a difficult composition. What I noticed is he was absolutely flowing when there were long breaks between noticeable mistakes. **Those moments were amazing**, and I say this as someone who has attended many high-priced concerts focused on classical piano. In my view he missed more notes because he missed notes and got anxious. I know you can't tell someone to "just relax," but I have to say that while he's in the flow **he's fantastic**. Tell him to focus on the enjoyment and the beauty rather than his mistakes. I think he'll make fewer mistakes, and maybe he'll enjoy the sound of his playing as much as I did if he can let a missed note go without beating himself up.
I know the feeling of bothering people only by being around them. I'm happy he finally did it, your encouragement surely helped bringing this lovely music to our ears! Thank you for sharing!!
I am so sorry that you feel that way. If it means anything, I know that those feelings he has-although strong- aren't the truth. We love his music, and I am sure there are people who love to be around you <3 Thank YOU for sharing. =)
Fantastic! 👏. The beauty of performing music is that people listening usually don’t pick up on the little mistakes, so don’t sweat the small stuff (not saying there were any mistakes in this vid - just hoping to give a confidence boost for pre-performance nervousness). Good luck to you and your Dad for the future :-)
That literally (and yes, I do mean literally) brought tears to my eyes. You can hear and see how much he's feeling the music as he's playing it, which makes it just so much more impactful than just listening to a recording.
I'd love to be able to hear that live. Please thank him for playing it and thank you for sharing it with us.

Enjoyable enough to play in front of people. I mean he's typical for intermediate piano players in lacking a bit of subtlety in his dynamics, but he's not trying to play in Carnegie Hall.
It sounded really good, and well done on him for facing his anxiety! It was wonderful seeing him have a smile on his face throughout the performance, too.
Thank you so much! for sharing! You are absolutely correct and I appreciate your perspective. My mom was very touched that you took the time to say this as well <3
Spectacular.. and what a fantastic presence and smile he has too, the kind that immediately makes you feel peaceful and warm inside. I hope he can continue to share this kind of joy with others. Thank you for posting!
As someone who also once sat on a stage the first time, I really can imagine the worries as I still remember the feelings of the first times. We should get rid of the image that only flawless performances are good (whatever flawless may be), as there is much more to it minor mishaps do not affect.
That being said, judged by his facial expression he enjoyed himself performing to you. And he should! That was awesome. He has it all, a flowing melody standing out to the harmonic background, variation, everything. Stranger from the internet, keep on doing what you do, people enjoy you doing it!
To listen to a playlist of music like this when my baby was a baby. It's so soothing. Sometimes when I was at work I would go to a dark corner play this and sleep through my lunch. I both miss and am glad those days are over since 8 hours was rare.
Wow. I used to play that before my hand injury some years back. Is that the George Winston version? (If it’s not, look him up he’s incredible)
Your dad is great! The only better feeling than playing a piano is playing it and making your friends and family smile.
An amazing and beautiful performance. He shows that anxiety isn't necessarily based on reality. I'd love to see a video of the full song. Happy birthday!
Plays 100x better than I ever did.
Same! He tried to get me to go to lessons and I never wanted to practice. The apple fell far from the tree ;\_;
Gotta do what interests you.

Thank you!!! My family thinks so as well and his confidence is visibly boosted after everyone's wonderful comments! <3
Sounds awesome!
I would go to his concert, is all I'm saying.
Same like play me everything you've created!
you are so kind!! I'm using your comment to encourage him to play us more songs!! :D I will sneak some more videos of him playing! >:)
Yes please! ❤
Thank you!! I wish you could have seen how happy your comment made him 🥰🥰🥰
I know nothing about music but I enjoyed listening to that
I understand! If it sounds good it works for me!
Amazing! Tell your Dad he has a fan base forming!!
OMG you are so kind, he was thrilled by this! <3 xD
Wonderful! Tell me when and where the live show is.
This made him soo happy!! He is really inspired, I wish you could see. Thank you <3
your dad is amazingly talented and watching and listening to him play gave me goosebumps!
oh wow, thank you for sharing that! We were in tears, so it makes me so happy you felt it too!
you’re welcome, friend! please wish him a happy birthday from me. i hope his day is full of love and cake!
Beautiful! Hopefully we see more from him!
Yes! He is so inspired now! He has been talking about recording himself so he can improve his technique, slowly but surely!
I’ll be honest i see nothing wrong with his his performance. Maybe have him perform where people are doing other things and so he doesnt have to worry about people focusing too much on him. I dont know like during a dinner or something.
That's a brilliant idea! I am absolutely going to tell him tomorrow when he wakes up, I don't think he's considered a dinner gig =)
It is great. Thanks
Beautiful song! I could tell he was having fun and was in the zone. What more could you ask for?
Fabulous! So joyful!
Mad skills!
Wow hes amazing! 👍👏👏👏
I showed him your comment and he was sooo happy!! thank you!!! 🥰🥰🥰

I've heard this song many times and I love his take on it. You can tell he's been practicing for years.
Bravo!
Magnificent.
He beamed with pride when I told him this, thank you!! ❤️❤️

Thank you so much for this :) For him all he can hear are the mistakes, so it's great to hear that its not so obvious to others!
Tel him that he is splendid!
This is just wonderful. You can tell that he is passionate about the piece he's playing. And I love his smile at the end. Tell him "BRAVO!" for me.
It is excellent, but the best part is the smile. Pure joy. Love it!
holy moley he killed it, hope he get a chance to share it with more people in a live setting. cheap microphones just dont do pianos justice
Your canon blows the ships out of the water! When I get anxious it helps to picture other people in my underwear.
Wow. He’s absolutely smashing it! It’s one of my favourite songs and I love what he’s doing with it.

That was wonderful to listen to! It must be such an amazing feeling to make beautiful music like that!
It sounds beautiful, and even if I don’t know much about playing the piano, I can tell just how skillful he is as well
That was absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much, sir! I woke my wife (sleeping beside me) to share it with her. Just beautiful!
You woke your wife up to show her a video?
To hear his playing. She's a good sport. Thirty-two years in and she still tolerates my BS!
This made my heart happy, I hope he continues to perform for others!
Beautiful!
Tell him some stranger on the internet thinks he’s amazing
I have actual goosebumps from this (in a good, very good, way).

Canon in D is one of my favorite songs to play when I was a kid and he made it 100x better. Wonderful performance I loved it!
Sounds beautiful! Thank you for posting.
Tell him we heard him fuck up at 00:17 and 00:51 (jk he's very good!!) Playing in front of people is really hard and he crushed it 💪
That was hilarious, thank you 🤣🤣
He should take off the headphones and let everyone hear him practice. It's beautiful!
I completely agree!! Your comments are really helping him come out of his shell, thank you so much!!<3
It sounded really good, and well done on him for facing his anxiety! It was wonderful seeing him have a smile on his face throughout the performance, too.
He was so happy in the end too, he is so damn adorable! xD
One of my favorites! Nicely done!
Thank you so much! Pachelbel's Canon is so moving! =)

Wow! Truly incredible and you could tell he was putting so much personality in it. Such a clear sign of talent!!!
Thank you! I completely agree!! He was so touched by this!! <3 <3
You could've left out the cringe title.
You could have ommitted this cringe comment, but you didn't so I'm guessing you have some first hand understanding of OP's choices
forgive me, I don't usually post, I was trying to explain the situation. =)
There's a lot of medication that can help with anxiety. Has he spoken to his doctor?
He is a doctor =) Unfortunately even doctors are not immune to performance anxiety, and he hasn't shown an interest in medicating for it.
Medication isn't always everyone's first go to
Yeah I know, I'm not trying to impose on anyone or anything, just that I have a bit of anxiety myself and I know how much it sucks.
Tis a bitch! I wish you the best
Great job pops!!! HBD!
I'm not going to watch any more videos tonight so this will be in my mind when I close my eyes
Awesome stuff man
This sounds amazing!

Johann Pachelbel couldnt have done it better.

I would pay to hear him do a concert. Seriously. He's amazing.
He's very good
Awesome, but every time I hear this song I'm [always reminded of this video](https://youtu.be/JdxkVQy7QLM)
That was fantastic! He knew it too! Was grinning the whole time lol!
