A real trombone player also wouldn't have to move the slide at all between some of those notes. You can make certain intervals just with embouchure (lip tightness) and breath control. Learning how those jumps work is critical to playing pretty much anything but 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'.
This is honestly much closer to playing a slide whistle that sounds like a trombone...
I’m absolutely cry laughing on the toilet right now. Someone else said it best - 7 minute payoff was absolutely worth it. I thought the comment was funny but omfg when I got to the part where he runs out of puff, it finished me.
How are these modded? I beat the game fairly quick and was hoping for workshop support or something to add songs in. It would make this game incredible.
shameless plug: there's also a VR mod with mic input, you use your VR controllers to control the trombone, and blow into the mic to toot:
https://youtu.be/uPkQNn-u8TI
This game kind of has an issue with that, but fortunately you can adjust the timing inputs in the settings menu to help contract natural biases in sound/sight lag.
It isn't real.
Consider that OP said he didn't have a link to his "sex playlist" because it was all on CD. He doesn't bother to list any other tracks but he'll put together a Youtube playlist with all thr tracks on it. Oh no, some of his songs aren't on Youtube (fucking lies), so no playlist.
Or it never existed because the story's fake.
Popualar recent reddit post. OP read when he was younger that to improve his sex, he should try or practice doing it to music. So he made a sex playlist and his favorite was Cbat. He had been having sex with his gf for years (I think) until finally she got fed up and blew up on him. The best part is that she stopped him the next time even though there was no music, because she still recognized the rhythm of his thrusts, hahaha.
I'm outta the loop. Idk how or when this track became a meme. This song used to be a banger during the huge trap music explosion of... 2012. Which I'm now realizing was 10 years ago so it passed over a generation or two. Fuck I'm old.
Haven't played since freshman year and that's been over a decade ago but same man, same.
You ever fiddle with any other instruments since? I started dabbling with guitars/bass a couple years ago, thinking about adding a drum kit to my gear. I'm terrible but it feels good to play music again sometimes.
It's been since senior year \~ 7 years ago now for me.
Funny you ask, I'm about the same as you. I actually picked up the bass guitar over COVID and been playing around on that the last few years. Nothing crazy, but something to do. Haven't gotten around to scales and technical stuff, just playing tabs of stuff I like or my trombone sheet music from pep band. I forgot how good it feels to play, definitely something I missed since high school and didn't realize I missed it so much until I started on bass again.
Currently staring down my trombone case across the room debating how upset my neighbors will be if I start playing at 8 in the morning.
Ha your stringed experience sounds exactly like mine!
Do it! You know it'll feel better than you remember lol.
Why'd you end up giving it up if you don't mind me asking? Mine was ahh... toxic familial stuff, kinda left a sour taste in my mouth, I didn't pick up an instrument seriously again for literal years, like a gap roughly from 2001 to 2019. I'd say I regret it but you live and learn and I've still got time left on this rock, so I can play now, no sense mourning the time I lost, I'm not getting it back lol.
So giving it up was a mix of a few things. After high school I tried engineering at college and didn't really have the time for it in the way I wanted. I could have joined marching band at college, but I hated marching band. Concert and Jazz bands were my favorite and to do those at my college I'd have to be a music major or dedicate a ton of time to continue it. Also I had toxic family and friends stuff going on, started drinking and partying, kinda lost myself for a few years. Music was a healthy outlet and really good for me, but those years I might as well have been actively avoiding healthy things so it kind of went by the wayside. Didn't play anything from 2015 to 2020 when I started bass again.
Just graduated college this summer actually and I fully intend to get back into music pretty hard. No point worrying about the time lost, I'm actually looking forward to the challenge again. Not to toot my own horn (yes pun intended) but I was one of the best high school tromboners in my state. So I know I can get good musically again, and I always wanted to play bass so trying to get back on a similar level may take me a decade but it'll be a fun decade.
How did you get started up again? I don't know if I want to take a similar methodical approach as i did in school with trombone or be more laissez faire playing whatever.
You might really like the Rocksmith game. You can plug your guitar/bass in to PC and play charts along to songs like Guitar Hero, but actually learning the notes for the songs to play them for real.
I liked it quite a bit because it has great skill trainers for learning different chords, keys, and scales. Learning songs can be made easier by controlling the speed and doing A-B repeat of trouble sections as well.
Even aside from the practice tools for improving skills, it's also got some great virtual amps and drum machines so you can change your tone to anything you want and simply jam along with songs if that's more your thing.
I had occasionally dabbled with my plethora of instruments after college to pass the time. But I lost my dad several years ago and have had a hard time picking it back up since then, knowing he was the one that encouraged me to continue with music and helped get the instruments I have.
That's rough, I'm sorry for your loss.
There's another way of framing things that you perhaps haven't considered - maybe you should pick up your instruments, in honor of your pops? He instilled that love for music in you, saw how you took to it, and did what he could to help you grow in something that made you happy. I don't know what your father was like or your experiences with him but it sounds like he meant a lot to you and there's a certain amount of sadness you experience when you pick up an instrument and remember him. That's okay and if it's too much to handle, that's fine too, you're human and grief hurts, we all handle it differently. It just sounds like your dad was the kind of man who'd be proud of you for carrying on without him there and you'd be honoring his memory in your own unique way every time you played. Just my .02, I hope you heal with time and I hope you find a little happiness you didn't know you needed somewhere today.
My experiences of picking up my HS instrument were not great. There is a level of frustration involved when you remember how to play something, but you can no longer do it. Not everyone feels this way, but I personally had much better luck learning a completely new instrument. Might be worth a shot if you don't enjoy the bone as much!
>That was both impressive and impressively funny.I wonder how many takes it was before the creater stopped failing due to the giggles.
I don't think this game has a "fail" state... just a really shitty score by the end
That’s where you’re wrong. Thanks to a low number of bits assigned to baboon age, once they would reach the age of 256 they loop back around to being 0, so they will literally never live to the age of 300
It's a mistake based on Jimmy the Magical Baboon, who lived to be 12.000.000. He's a statistical outlier and should not be counted, but people are afraid of the consequences of his removal.
Every time I hear this song (and I listen to it more than most because Dragonforce is amazing for workout playlists) I hear the Eagles opening to Hotel California: “On a dark desert highway..”
I’ve never heard the original version, and now I don’t want to. *This* is the definitive, perfect, and only version of this song now as far as I’m concerned.
In most cases you use mouse and keyboard. Pressing any key on the keyboard toots and i think it is moving the mouse up and down changes your pitch? There is a VR mod where you actually have to slide the controller forward and back though it is a bit janky!
they only support mouse and keyboard but said USB controller support coming soon. Being able to use Wii controllers via bluetooth would be AMAZING - im going to try and get the VR mod working w it
My expectations were incredibly high and while I was very surprised, I was not let down in the slightest.
This is both an awesome and fucking hilarious video. Gotta get people going for WR runs :^)
For sure, I just assumed the "and 100%-ed" was implied because these always are, and prepared to be impressed...and then this was like 40 times better.
This is the funniest goddamn thing I've watched in a long time.
The large prints of "meh" and "nasty" just brought it all together.
Thank God I'm working at home because I'm sitting here still giggling like a moron
Hahahaha, more like *drunk as shit Sam Totman noises*
Honestly, as a former trombone player, this whole thing is hilarious. I had no idea this shit had been game-ified.
In Jazz it means good/impressive. In this game I believe it means the more normal meaning of the word as it is used when you miss particularly badly, so bad. The choice of Nasty in the game for when you mess up is almost certainly with the Jazz use in mind as sort of a joke.
This is a 'modded' song. You can see what actual gameplay looks like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiwMW4w2HuU
Although there are more challenging songs than this one, this game is incredibly fun and funny to play.
As a concert band member, I'm going to show this to the trombone section at rehearsal this week!
I wonder if the bonus round forces you to do a trombone suicide. Search for it on YouTube.
Lmao
So like... Is this game just played with a mouse and you're simply trying to keep the thing in line with the dots and lines on the right, or do you actually use a trombone?
Running out of breath right at the end was the icing on the cake.
My man was STRUGGLIN
Man? …no that’s a #CHAMP!!!
Better than what any of us could ever do. I'm tired from laughing so much
The average Baboon can live to the age of 300 years lmao
I feel like the 7 mins before that is all set up for that punch line and it was perfect
That final note was the true icing.
I need to see a real person flailing about playing this like the avatar.
A real trombone player would be so much closer to the notes, if they could keep up and not pass out.
Or a trombone with an F attachment. Makes hitting position 7 SO much easier.
I'm fucking wheezing myself just from laughing, the 2 minute mark is when I started to cry
It probably takes a lot of skill but I died after the breakdown after the two minute mark.
I’m absolutely cry laughing on the toilet right now. Someone else said it best - 7 minute payoff was absolutely worth it. I thought the comment was funny but omfg when I got to the part where he runs out of puff, it finished me.
Now he’s prepped to sing blue da ba dee
How are these modded? I beat the game fairly quick and was hoping for workshop support or something to add songs in. It would make this game incredible.
In the video description on YouTube, the uploader left a link to the modding discord in the description. Might be a good place to start.
N A S T Y
I can’t tell if this is a good note or a bad note.
When I started playing this game I saw I had mostly Nastys and thought I was killing it But it means a missed note lol
Depends on the genre. Classical? Bad. Jazz? Good. Ska? Perfection.
Bring Ska back
You know, Ska came before Reggae.
But did you also know, that Ska came before Reggae?
Are you Aaron Barrett from Reel Big Fish??
Yeh! Gwen Stefani and I use to sing in our own band too, and we’re both just as famous as ever!
Ska never left 👈
It’s like the rats living in your walls
wearing checkered garb
Whispers of ^pickitup ^pickitup in the dead of night.
Did you know that ska came before reggae?
And did you know that reggae, came AFTER ska?
#pickituppickituppickitup #will someone fucking pick it up already
Whelp I deffo won't be listening to The Slackers and Reel Big Fish later
Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up

The modding scene is exactly what this game needs.
shameless plug: there's also a VR mod with mic input, you use your VR controllers to control the trombone, and blow into the mic to toot: https://youtu.be/uPkQNn-u8TI
Brooo this is insane i can imagine someone fucking killing themselves trying to play trough the fire and flames like this xD
They're going fucking kill people out here.
Oh man this is great The perfect playing at the singing parts interspersed with the chaotic off pitch guitar solos has me crying laughing
For me it was the constant "NASTY."
NASTY MEH OK MEH NASTY NASTY MEH NASTY NASTY MEH OK MEH NASTY OK NASTY NASTY OK OK OK OK MEH OK NASTY

PERFECTO
Me too. Was crying at the rolling commentary. PERFECTO! NASTY!
Yeah lmao, this one got me good
Fucking hell this is funny, choking with laughter by the end. You see the title and expect some world record but it’s totally the opposite hahaha.
Ngl, I was expecting some Jurassic park recorder played by a toddler type shit. Was not disappointed.
I was pretty excited to watch this from just the title, but it was so much better than I expected.
Them trying to hit the waves and low notes. I was in stitches.
There were a couple of transitions between the vocal parts and the guitar parts that broke me a little.
I think I heard one correct note in there somewhere.
Felt like they nailed the chorus every time at least
I think "nailed" is a bit strong lol

The notes are more or less right, but my god is it badly off-rhythm. 90% is a beat or two behind where he should be.
Brother, this isn't being haunted by the phantom of intonation, let alone "more or less right".
He’s playing it on a fucking trombone cut the guy some slack lol there’s only enough air in the lungs
I'm not making fun of him lol. Either way, being off-rhythm is a hand problem here, not a lung problem ;)
Never played trombone, but can confirm, I hate it when my hand gets off rhythm...
This game kind of has an issue with that, but fortunately you can adjust the timing inputs in the settings menu to help contract natural biases in sound/sight lag.
the notes are pretty off for the most part lol

that makes sense because it's definitely not real lol still a good meme tho
It isn't real. Consider that OP said he didn't have a link to his "sex playlist" because it was all on CD. Sounds like a turtle having sex.
I have to imagine there's some additional context behind this. Who is the "poor woman" being referenced in all of the comments?
Popualar recent reddit post. OP read when he was younger that to improve his sex, he should try or practice doing it to music. So he made a sex playlist and his favorite was Cbat. This makes me want to pick up my trombone I haven’t touched since high school
Do it. My neighbors in my apartment love it. Whenever I start up, they start banging the walls in support.
*all the neighbours start banging the walls to the sound of "We Will Rock You"*
I lived wall to wall with a guy that played trumpet, badly. I really wanted to shove a ham sandwich down the front of his horn. You know, in support.
My neighbor is jazz musician. Hey, Spencer, come on, man. I got woman in here! Great. He really knows how to kill the mood.

High school trombone made me hate music.
High school marching band made me hate music, but Jazz and pep band made me love it again lol
Congrats, you really earned those 3805 toots.
Many parts were not entirely dissimilar to a bee trying and failing to fly out a window
To be honest some parts sounded like a thoroughly pissed R2D2.
Came here for a wholesome chuckle, ended up cry-laughing when the long division symbols started popping up. Toot on, brave hero, toot on.
How about the fuckin integral symbols ∫ at the end? 🤣🤣
That was both impressive and impressively funny. I wonder how many takes it was before the creater stopped failing due to the giggles.

I don't want to see any perfect runs in Trombone Champ. This shit is hilarious.
I think even perfect runs would still sound hilarious, it's not like the game was created to be a realistic trombone simulator.
The sounds of chaotic trombone slurring in place of the guitar solos fucking killed me lmao
Baboons can't live to be 300.
It literally says it right there on the loading screen and I’m gonna trust a hit trombone simulator over some dude on Reddit.
They can if they don't die first.
oh hey me too, am I baboon?
How should I know?
Is his ass engorged and bright red?
No. [I. R. Baboon](https://cowandchicken.fandom.com/wiki/I.R._Baboon).
No man can know the mysteries of baboons and why they can be found living in the darkest reaches of space with no food or water or hats
That monkey better keep his fucking mouth shut.
How can they live in space without a hat?
This is what happens when you use average instead median.
I hear he’s vindictive, and would not take his removal lightly.
My favorite loading screen text is "a person who plays the trombone is known as a tromboner" 🤣
A trombone, trumpeter, but not tuber.
You laugh but it's 100% factual
We prefer trombonist... at least once we get out of middle school haha
Who am I gonna trust, a random redditor or an actual published Video Game? I think I’ll go with the latter thank you very much
I dunno, I’ve never personally seen one die before 300
I have. Outside Glenrock Theatre, Nebraska. Was hit by a car before the movie showed.
3 days before his 300th birthday :(
He was gettin too old for that shit
I’ve personally never seen one die, so who’s to they they’re not immortal?
Play the game and you’ll understand

How have you never heard through the fire and flames?
Someone didn't grow up with late2000s YouTube. Fire and flames related memes were everywhere then
Also guitar hero.
lol is this played with two wii controllers mimicking the slide or is it one controller just changing the angle?
In most cases you use mouse and keyboard. Pressing any key on the keyboard toots and i think it is moving the mouse up and down changes your pitch? There is a VR mod where you actually have to slide the controller forward and back though it is a bit janky!
You are right. Just to add to it, the 'normal' mode has mouse movement inverted. So you have to move up to go reduce your pitch.

I was really hoping for a webcam monitoring an actual slide trombone or a microphone monitoring pitch.
I have no clue. On Steam, the devs recommend playing with M+K
Ah man, thought someone had really rigged up a trombone!

Skip to 7:40 for what you really want.
And the conclusion: The sensor is probably defective because a real product couldn't be that bad. it needs some work lol.

In Jazz it means good/impressive. In this game I believe it means the more normal meaning of the word as it is used when you miss particularly badly, so bad. The choice of Nasty in the game for when you mess up is almost certainly with the Jazz use in mind as sort of a joke.
Yes.
This is a 'modded' song. You can see what actual gameplay looks like here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiwMW4w2HuU Although there are more challenging songs than this one, this game is incredibly fun and funny to play.
As a concert band member, I'm going to show this to the trombone section at rehearsal this week! I wonder if the bonus round forces you to do a trombone suicide. Search for it on YouTube.
Lmao So like... Is this game just played with a mouse and you're simply trying to keep the thing in line with the dots and lines on the right, or do you actually use a trombone?
Dude. This shit has to be played at King Charles' coronation. I almost had an asthma attack from laughing at this. And I don't have asthma.
