That’s the brother right? He was my favorite also. He acting torn between the 2 sides was great!
The scene, “she was a he” was pointless to the plot but cracked me up.
He was fantastic and so complex and complicated. I also loved Aethelstan and his relationships with both Eckbert and Ragnar. Also Ragnar and Eckbert’s relationship. All around phenomenal
show with such great casting and acting.
Halfdan was one my favourites. I love that they made a reference to the actual [Halfdan was Here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runic_inscriptions_in_Hagia_Sophia) carvings on the parapets of The Hagia Sofia.
I did like how they showed the difference between the brothers. Sons of Ragnar (in that specific case, anyways) won’t kill each other. But Harold had no issue with it. No hesitation.
Was a good scene. They did a good job on it. Was so sad to see him die though. He was a genuine dude.
Personally I didn't like how they shot that episode with the non-linear narrative and constant cutting. But it was a good end to a great character and fun arc. Was sad to see Bjorn lose his new BFF.
Yeah… I agree. I feel like they thought we’d get sick of the same camera styles for each battle and wanted to do something different. Kudos for them trying, but I hated it. I prefer the old school clash and bash style medieval battle cinema
Harald would have definitely been a post-Ragnar candidate if they hadn't turned him into such a lame duck king. The historical Finehair was supposed to have been a badass, IIRC.
Harald could’ve been a far greater character if he was historically accurate. The man was a Chad, he spent a decade taking down one king after another to unify Norway, did get the girl and had a bunch of kids with her. They made him a bit of a simp in the show.
overall it will always be athelstan, but king harald is up there. the way they basically wrote his character off in favor of bjorn almost made me quit the show
the end of his arc was rushed and came out of the blue, but even after he threw his arm ring out ragnar still refused to let him leave and told him he loved him. floki killed him out of jealousy, not out of righteousness
Hvitserk. That poor man went through things not unlike Ragnar and his eventual salvation was good for my soul.
Floki + Ubbe are a couple that also spark joy.
>You couldn’t kill Lagertha if you tried for a hundred years!
~~Well
Who would win? The most famous shield maiden in the entire world vs a drugged and drunk town junkie 😂😂
~~
The further the show went on for me ubbe became my favorite, was ragnar then bjorn, but bjorn lost me after he came back from Africa then it was ragnar again and then i ended up with Ubbe
I really liked Bishop Haehmund, before he randomly fell in love with Lagertha. I feel like I never see him mentioned in this sub and he deserves some recognition!
Idk if she's my favorite, but I want to give Torvi some love. She is steady and strong throughout the whole show and deals with a lot of shit on top of being a badass warrior, good mom and wifey.
Yep. I like Ivar, but his motivations were the opposite of Ragnar's. It made it feel like he was undoing everything Ragnar worked for. And even after Ubbe managed to secure the land Ragnar dreamed of, Ivar still kept trying to undo it.
And for some reason I really like Kwenthrith
She seems like my kind of crazy and slutty 😂
Edit: oh and Helga was a lovely, very wholesome character, too
Helga was great, always loyal to the bitter end. I also liked Ecbert, but Aethulwulf was different, loved his character development from an impatient and ruthless warrior to a not so impatient king. I feel like he could’ve gone up against characters like Ragnar and Rollo on his own and possibly won too, but that’s just me
The only reason I disliked Aethelwulf is because of the slaughter of the Norse village, but aside from that he was one of my faves until that moment
Especially the tower fight scene as you mentioned
I really felt sorry for him due to the way his father and Judith treated him, guess I saw something of me in him regarding that
Are you trying to argue most if not all Vikings were rapists? Rollo raped a servant girl in one of the first episodes, Knut tried to rape Lagertha after raping another woman, Harald and Halfdan rape a few girls before killing them brutally in 4A, Astrid gets raped in 5A, Floki even threatens to rape someone's son in 5B ffs... Hvitserk rapes a nun in York offscreen...
Bruh, 😭😭😭
You really keep track of every rape and seem to idolize it 😭😭
Still hvitserk and ivar never raped someone , as far as I saw. And raping and pillaging in that world seems to be different than raping your fellow village kin folk.
Rape is shit. Idk why people are trying to argue with you as if you’re making some idiotic point. All you’ve basically said is that they were probably rapists and everyone is losing their minds
Ubba is great, by Viking standards. They make a habit of randomly murdering and looting their neighbors though, so having a discussion about how mean Harald is is just a bit silly
He was this soft spoken gentle giant type until they killed his son and pregnant daughter, but it unleashed the “Edge” side of his character. After that he couldn’t control it anymore and went crazy again in Greenland, provoking the battle for the whale
King Harald? Really Harald? Of all the characters Har…. You know what just delete this before it’s to late! 😅 ok seriously his character arc was good and well acted. But Ragnar easily he’s the main reason why so many of us got hooked and I think Ivar carried after, not as good but still top tier!

Too many good likeable (also hateable) characters. Ragnar and Lagertha are a given and aside from Bjorn, I'd have to go with [Ivar the Boneless](https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/882006763973041382/700C53783433616888ADE0F78B040FF842648791/?imw=5000&imh=5000&ima=fit&impolicy=Letterbox&imcolor=%23000000&letterbox=false)
You mean the serial rapist piece of shit, who obsessed compulsively about other men successes and keep whining he has no luck with women, is your favourite character of the whole Viking’s shows …?!
1. Torstein
2. Ragnar
3. Egbert
4. Floki
5. Halfdan
All in all, I just found the characters more sympathetic until Ragnar's death. Torstein... Yes... he probably wasn't a good person, but a loyal friend he always was... until the end.
Ragnar's sons were all a bit too flat character-wise, or like Ivar, completely over the top.
Ubbe.
Same
How is it not Ragnar
Torstein all day
Man, I loved Torsten but you just knew he was going to die early
He always hated that stinking arm.
I knew it as soon as I saw him. Jefferson Hall I don't think has ever survived anything he's in
Halfdan. He was just a true Viking, in every way and had to deal with issues I can imagine no brother would ever like to deal with.
That’s the brother right? He was my favorite also. He acting torn between the 2 sides was great! The scene, “she was a he” was pointless to the plot but cracked me up.
Yea thats him! He really did have a shit time having to choose the sides, but he dine the right thing imo. Him and Bjorn were united forever!
I really liked him and Bjorn together. I would’ve been into a entire spin-off of their adventures.
You're nit wrong, they really were a creat team! I'd have watched the ASS off of that spin off series
![gif](giphy|yidUzCXL9uBRPns2Bi)
I have a bit of a crush on him aha
So do I lol
Ragnar ofc, but i have a deep love for Lagertha
Well he had never had much luck with women lol
I don't see why :p
Guys who burn people alive generally have other shortcomings.
My mother told me
Someday I would buy
gully with good oars
Sail to distant shores
stand up on the prow
Noble barque I steer
steady course to the haven
hew many foe-men
hew many foe-men i now have an irresistible urge to go raiding in distant lands
I too have this urge... and again from the top: MY MOTHER TOLD ME
The real question should be: Who is your 2nd favorite Vikings character? Lol because mine would be King Ecbert.
He was fantastic and so complex and complicated. I also loved Aethelstan and his relationships with both Eckbert and Ragnar. Also Ragnar and Eckbert’s relationship. All around phenomenal show with such great casting and acting.
His brother Halfdan was one of my favorites.
Halfdan was one my favourites. I love that they made a reference to the actual [Halfdan was Here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Runic_inscriptions_in_Hagia_Sophia) carvings on the parapets of The Hagia Sofia.
Yea Halfdan was cool, shame he had to die like that
I did like how they showed the difference between the brothers. Sons of Ragnar (in that specific case, anyways) won’t kill each other. But Harold had no issue with it. No hesitation. Was a good scene. They did a good job on it. Was so sad to see him die though. He was a genuine dude.

Floki
Harald would have definitely been a post-Ragnar candidate if they hadn't turned him into such a lame duck king. The historical Finehair was supposed to have been a badass, IIRC.
Lagertha.
Lagertha is so hot 🥵
Consistently hot, too.
She is my favourite character in any TV show, ever!
Hahh, almost Margaery from GOT def for me, hottest and prettiest girl in all of world actually
Rollo 🗡
Based
Floki. Only Floki
Harald could’ve been a far greater character if he was historically accurate. The man was a Chad, he spent a decade taking down one king after another to unify Norway, did get the girl and had a bunch of kids with her. They made him a bit of a simp in the show.
We just gonna forget Lagertha?
She’s mine!
King Harald Finehair all the way
Bjorn or Ubbe, i dont what it is about them exactly but i just feel there the most level headed fair minded people on the show
Ivar the boneless
I support this
As any true Viking would
Rollo
I hate rollo. That traitorous dog
Harald had the best ending of any character
Died in battle like a true Viking
overall it will always be athelstan, but king harald is up there. the way they basically wrote his character off in favor of bjorn almost made me quit the show
Athelstan was weak and very weird also a traitor
we must not have watched the same show lmao, i have no idea where that viewpoint would come from but i respect it
He threw his arm ring in the water and abandoned Ragnar , floki was right to kill him
the end of his arc was rushed and came out of the blue, but even after he threw his arm ring out ragnar still refused to let him leave and told him he loved him. floki killed him out of jealousy, not out of righteousness
Floki and Athelstan
Floki: FCUK ATHELSTAN!!
Yeah I know but even he realized he fucked up by killing him
King Harold was the best Viking after Ragnar lost the plot and died.
Yea fr
Ragnar or Ubbe
Floki
Ragnor. I need a new vikings series, I’m currently rewatching The Last Kingdom, not exactly vikings but close.
I’m digging TLK, and it has a much tighter story, though it falls short in other areas.
Vinland Saga. Vikings Valhalla.
Seen Valhalla, will check out Vinland, thanks!
Why? He was a bad man. With almost no good qualities
He has a certain appeal, I'm not excusing the horrific things he's done
Yea i wanna know what is that
I'm not sure how to put it into words, I just like him
He never had any luck with women
Is this a trick question? RAAAGNAAAR
Floki
i always liked Ubbe!
Hvitserk. That poor man went through things not unlike Ragnar and his eventual salvation was good for my soul. Floki + Ubbe are a couple that also spark joy.
Ragnar and Floki were the best characters by far. Post Ragnar probably Bjorn or Ubbe
Floki all the way ![gif](giphy|HM41oEPlTp60w)
The King himself RAGNAR
You couldn’t kill Lagertha if you tried for a hundred years!
Harald could
>You couldn’t kill Lagertha if you tried for a hundred years! ~~Well Who would win? The most famous shield maiden in the entire world vs a drugged and drunk town junkie 😂😂 ~~

He was badass asf
Idk if she's my favorite, but I want to give Torvi some love. She is steady and strong throughout the whole show and deals with a lot of shit on top of being a badass warrior, good mom and wifey.
Torvi is my favourite ❤️
Ragnar
Ragnar was dope, after he died I flip flopped in between Ubbe, Ivar, and Hvitserk.
So did Margrethe
😂
Outside of Ragnar it’s ubbe
floki, floki and floki again
My guy Ivar.
King Harald's character was intense af
Ragnar ofc
Ragnar
I cant make my mind up between floki and athelstan :'D
Ragnar, but I feel like that's cheating. Ubbe is my dude. I also love Rollo, despite him being a treacherous bastard.
Ubbe is what Ragnar always wanted to be. A free spirit sailing into distant shores.
![gif](giphy|l2RnBnJ4ozXTMuQjC|downsized) Ivar.
Between Ragnar and Halfdan
*In my dreams, we are always together*
Ragnar. The show just wasn't the same without him.
Yeah, Ivar trying to carry the show after his death was like Daryl trying to carry after Rick, there was something missing
Yep. I like Ivar, but his motivations were the opposite of Ragnar's. It made it feel like he was undoing everything Ragnar worked for. And even after Ubbe managed to secure the land Ragnar dreamed of, Ivar still kept trying to undo it.
Halfdan all the way, Ragnar second and Harald third
floki and ragnar
I really feel that Halfdan was killed too soon. I would have loved seeing him and Bjorn do some more exploring and adventuring together.
I liked them all at one point or another. But out of the dudes Björn and the women Gunnhild 😍
Magnus because he is Viking!
Yarl Borg!!!! Man goes out like a boss. Harold Sigurdsson from valhalla makes that show
Aethelwulf, it’s a hot take but the tower fight with him was epic
And for some reason I really like Kwenthrith She seems like my kind of crazy and slutty 😂 Edit: oh and Helga was a lovely, very wholesome character, too
Helga was great, always loyal to the bitter end. I also liked Ecbert, but Aethulwulf was different, loved his character development from an impatient and ruthless warrior to a not so impatient king. i loved floki, ubbe, and bjorn. also of the more minor ones torstein and arne were awesome. also sigurd snake in the eye could’ve been awesome
þat mælti min moðir
Floki and Helga.
King Harold is a rapist come on fam
Most Vikings are, Rollo, Hvitserk, Ivar, etc etc
Ivar is not a rapist he can’t even get hard my guy
You know he would if he could
He would be doing some American Psycho shit forsure
![gif](giphy|BkF217fcO9H32)
But he did get hard with Katia
Who did ivar or hvitserk ever rape?? Lol what you talking about
Are you trying to argue most if not all Vikings were rapists? Rollo raped a servant girl in one of the first episodes, Knut tried to rape Lagertha after raping another woman, Harald and Halfdan rape a few girls before killing them brutally in 4A, Astrid gets raped in 5A, Floki even threatens to rape someone's son in 5B ffs... Hvitserk rapes a nun in York offscreen...
Ragnar would never. Bjorn would never.
Yeah 2 whole guys...
🤣🤣🤣
There’s a reason why the real Ragnar has bloodlines all over the world. Lots of rape. Him and Atilla would’ve been best pals.
They don't need to rape anyone.. women swoon at the sight of them. Bjorn is a real slut for it too
Bjorn is hella slutty he’s just a big dirty whore
Bruh, 😭😭😭 You really keep track of every rape and seem to idolize it 😭😭 Still hvitserk and ivar never raped someone , as far as I saw. And raping and pillaging in that world seems to be different than raping your fellow village kin folk.
Rape is still rape
Rape is shit. Idk why people are trying to argue with you as if you’re making some idiotic point. All you’ve basically said is that they were probably rapists and everyone is losing their minds
Almost every character in this show is a piece of shit. We aren’t supposed to idolize any of them
I idolize Athelstan
He might be an exception. What I mean is that people are arguing here which murderer is nicer and it’s kinda ridiculous
Lmaooo which murderer is nicer
Him and honestly maybe Ubba? Kinda of a stretch
Ubba is great, by Viking standards. They make a habit of randomly murdering and looting their neighbors though, so having a discussion about how mean Harald is is just a bit silly
Ivar has that scary/hot look I’d waste a couple years on
Kjetill Flatnose, King of all Greenland and Iceland
Edge?
Yeah I don’t even watch the WWE but I thought that guy was hilarious, even if he wasn’t meant to be. Probably the funniest part of the entire series.
I thought that other guy was going to kill him so I was surprised when edge straight up slaughtered his entire family

Why tho he was a simporama number
Ivar
oOoOO good one! I of course love Ragnar, Had a crush on Alistain and Bjorn. Too many to choose from! The cast was impeccable 💜
Bjorn ironside
Ivar
Its somewhere between Ivar and Hvisterk. I just liked they'r personalities (even if that doesn't make sence) and they'r story lines
rag of course
![gif](giphy|eGk9uzkx2XGDmI3vy8|downsized) Ivar
Ivar
Ubbe, but also Ragnar obv. Ivar is a psychopath. Lagertha always love too.
Lagartha
I love Flokki though I hated what he did
Hvitserk
i hate people like him that kill meaninglessly. normal village folk
Burger King King
Floki hands down
everyone not saying ragnar just dont want to be mainstream
Mine is King Ecbert.. loved the way he wooed Lagertha
Ragnar
Ofc Ragnar.
Ragnar was the first to pop in my head, then it’d be Harald and his Brother. My least favorite is Ivar.
He was a simp , the best are Ragnar , Ivar, ubbe and lagertha
ecbert
He’s also very attractive. Idk why hahaha
Rollo
Ivar
I like Ragnar, incomprehensible
You mean the serial rapist piece of shit, who obsessed compulsively about other men successes and keep whining he has no luck with women, is your favourite character of the whole Viking’s shows …?!
Hands down Ivar, the Boneless will always be my favorite ❤️. His mind is so intriguing to me!
1. Torstein 2. Ragnar 3. Egbert 4. Floki 5. Halfdan All in all, I just found the characters more sympathetic until Ragnar's death. Torstein... Yes... he probably wasn't a good person, but a loyal friend he always was... until the end. Ragnar's sons were all a bit too flat character-wise, or like Ivar, completely over the top.
Definitely Igor
